John , pal , thousand thanks from kazakhstan for your noble work ! i've bought an bio-reactor for testing, breeding all these small needful folks. all it makes, it creates optimal anaerobic conditions. It is similar to creating home brew )
I use EM1 and worm castings with molasses and brew a tea and water the plants and foliar spray every couple weeks and it’s nice 👍🏻
Awesome! Any specific information greatly appreciated
If my understanding is correct you are supposed to use EM-1 as a concentrate and need to activate it for 7 days before you are to use it. You can use molasses or a similar feed and dilute the mixture and let it brew.
I directly dilute em-1 to unchlorinated i didn't ferment it for 7 days you can still use it without activating it.
Fish tank water best for beneficial bacteria and also the water has chlorine removed, also contains nitrogen.
Best for fungi is composted wood chips/bark, leaf mould compost or other sources of composted carbon.
Best fertilizer is seaweed / kelp extract can be used for everything including rooting cuttings
Makes sense. Water has all the fish waste which is an excellent fertilizer.
@@sun622 it also has bacteria which controls nitrites and nitrates, they feed off the organic matter which also helps clean up the dead roots and the root zone. There is enzymes you can buy though which also clean up the root zone I was using cannazym for a while it's good stuff but there's many other brands
Now if you run out of fish tank water, couldn't you just use lake water? (fresh water of course)
Powder myccorizai is my favorite. It's dormant, stores nice. That and good compost.
Great video John, thanks, with the beautiful garden you have there, why would you pick a spot to film this with a bunch of dead stuff behind you???
I was curious about the both of these, thank you for sharing!
Growin' my greens, I must grow my greens, greens I must grow, growing your greens, growin' my greens, greens I must obey
Did anyone else catch the subliminal frames? Is this new John? I never saw them before..
John I love you man👍😎 your just the most knowledgeable down to earth simple talking person teaching organic gardening out there. Keep up the good work and THANKS ✌❤😎
You should crochet a gardening thong for john
so you can use them together or on the same plant?
and do you have to spray tje plants with it or can you just water the soil with it, what is better, or both?
Hey my friend was wondering if I can make Em1 with the wey of keifer I've been using it for my garden wanted to know your opinion on the subject though
Gotta love John. I've always believed a man should never be limited by his options. "A or B?", "A and B please, thank you".
can you use em-1 mixed with other fertilizers?
Most of the effects come from yeast and lactobacillus you can use sourdough starter to do the same things.
I have used sourdough to germinate seeds faster and I have boosted flower and fruit on my fruit tree's.
Gillenz Fluff for real I was considering using kefir and spray them on the plants beneficial bacteria after all

:) on the q and a I asked about em1 vs homemade imo. Thanks for touching on that even though it wasn't in q and a! You're the man John, have a good one.

Take a look into KNF and how to make LAB. Make your own EM1 solution for pennies 🤙🏽
I have been looking how u could do it myself. I couldn't find any info about the EM1, all I found was just about EM.
Im currently studying about the em1 and grokashi and bamb u made this video. Koolio need to try it out. Thanks if i could give 2 thumbs up i would
You can make bokashi with sourdough starter I made some with old leftover cat food and kitchen waste.
Peep Probiotics Farmers Alliance group on fb!
YT for labs no whey. That recipe is rock solid and anaerobic so no contamination issues so often associated with milk/whey formulas.
@@THEREALInfamousP Whey is good fertilizer.
Indeed it is, but when culturing lactobacillus, most recipes for whey/milk are highly prone to infection and things going wrong due to the open aerobic methodology. The non whey way to make em1 is not only more cost effective, but one batch will produce many more. And it’s pretty much impossible to mess a batch up.
Wow looks like you have 4 Jura Form composters now. that's a lot of compost. I am jealous! I have one 80 gal lifetime tumbler, would love to get one more tumbler. So while one is finishing the next could get started. All in due time, I guess. Thanks for the info you always have learning for us.
Why are there subliminal messages hidden in this video????
Grow your greens of coarse 😅
@@wogstralien1 These are the funniest comment ever. I just woke up a little bit ago and I'm laughing so hard.

Really informative thanks John!👍🌱
You can expand the em-1 by like 1000 times whats in the bottle by mixing it with molasses and water and let it sit for a week
Rice wash water works best for expanding em1, at least for me.
Could you please add details? New to this and trying to catch up. Thank you!
Good morning Mike! Love your videos, Thank You for all your work in producing them! One question, did you ever have a resolution to your Harvest Right food freeze dryer?
i guess im asking randomly but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account??
I stupidly lost the account password. I love any help you can give me
@Rory Cayson instablaster :)
@Micah Khalid Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and Im trying it out atm.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Micah Khalid it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much you really help me out :D
@Rory Cayson happy to help :D
I didn't see the imo grown on rice video! But I saw that on living web farms video. Def plan on doing that! Very affordable.
Hello @John and @everyone . I've got a question. I'm using EM-1 in my Cannabis garden and I've heard people saying you should not spray your plants during flower. Is there any reason why I should not spray my plants during flower other than it can affect the taste? I would like to try using it as a foilar during my plants entire life-cycle both veg and flower. Do you believe the EM-1 would affect the cannabinoids in a negative way if I use it as a foilar during flower? What's your oppinion and thoughts on this one? Thank you!
It's a year later, I'm sure you figured it out by now, but to answer this for others:
The reason it is commonly discouraged to foliar spray in flower is due to the increased susceptibility to cause mold conditions in the flower buds, due to excessive moisture.
says the coupon code is no good??
the shirt and the back pack makes you look like a guhst buster
I have a question for you, after watching both your videos on EM-1 and Boogie Brew and have bought both. My question is the preparation for both is very different Boogie im aerating a bucket, while EM-1 was more like a fermenting process in a glass jug with an airlock burper so wouldnt that be promoting anaerobic bacteria thats bad?? Also EM-1 you add molasses to feed the microbes and accelerate the process, will adding molasses to your Boogie Brew do the same and improve the results?
Isn't there already something sweet in the boogie brew
home made compost is my go to , but i guess for people with no yards the store bought stuff will have to do.
What temps are best for a compost bin and what extreme temps can it survive outside
Matthew Barker just knowing John won’t reply to you personally, ua-cam.com/video/j-O2CUyziP8/v-deo.html peep that video. It is the Berkly Method of composting. Viable and rich compost in 14-21 days guaranteed.
I always learn so much from you. Mushroom growth in my garden is taking over, is this bad? I live in mid Florida everything almost in huge pots & do my plants respond to 'Boogie brew' it's my fave, thanks to you.
No, mushrooms are a garden MVP. Keep adding organic carbon mulch like woodchips, straw. Feed those mushrooms, they balance your soil chemistry and allow plants to communicate with eatmchother, extend their water and nutrient collection radius, etc. Great stuff.
I love the subliminal messaging at 6:10
The shotgun approach, throw in as much as you can and see what hits.
Caught your subliminals there :)
I use both homie
what happened to the bokashi bucket?
Just do it. Right.
Use ALL the microbes!! Diversity is great!!
EM1 baby💯💯💯 im getting some of that
What are your thoughts on adding kefir, kimchi, saurkraut, etc into the soil to assist with these same things?
Jason Mendoza they do that in some parts I think they use the water from kefir grains not sure of dilution rates

--****4:55****-- whats up with all these random quick flash msgs??
growyourgreens.com lol finally got it to pause on there
Subliminal marketing, like in movies in the ‘70’s
Whats with the subliminal message ? 2:28
Really man, you've got to educate yourself. I've offered to help you a number of times over the past several years. EM1 should ideally be fermented for 5 to 7 days prior to use. The microbes in ACT and EM fermentations have different functions. They work best used in tandem. EM is more a soil conditioner, working to degrade toxins and matter in the soil [as you mention] I most often use it prior to planting and after harvest. The microbes in ACT are nutrient cyclers and are best applied during plant growth. Boogie Brew? come on.
i agree let them fight it out
'Without further ado' at 15:20...
Shit in a bucket ,make compost tea lol
Wish I had a microscope to compare the microbes, especially after learning about Dr. Eliane Ingram’s research and teaching of the soil food web.
nice vids
Actually a subliminal message isn’t seen so this wont qualify
First off what’s EM1 he never said
Michael Trinh ua-cam.com/video/SCWDlIBm8IU/v-deo.html
Michael Trinh a broad range lactobacillus culture. You can yt search for ‘labs no whey’ and find a solid and cheap recipe.
EM = Effective Microbes. It's a mix of Lactic Bacteria as per Preston Halls link plus other microbes.
EM1 is a brand name, you may also see it sold as BioBoost plus, which is what it's called here in Australia and I'm sure many other names.
You need to smoke a joint dude!
Disappointed, I was hoping to see an actual comparison, this was just an advertisement. I miss the old John.
Shit in a bucket and call it compost! Nice dude!
This stuff seems like waste decomposer they are selling in India for 20 rupees which can be used again and again you could even borrow some of the culture and make your own but it involves using molasses and dung and a brew process it is being used on dead and live plants same manner your spraying this all over.
You can use vitamin c to dechlorinate tap water in ten minutes just a quick tip
There entirely different microbes why on earth would you compare them?
john, u know how you do the 5 dollar phone calls? well could i pay you 50 bucks to go make a video with Gary Matsuoka? please man?
john, go see gary matsuoka at laguna hills nursery and take your camera i need to hear the argument lol he says you shouldnt grow plants in compost
Wow he clearly knows nothing.
its a family business his dad used to run the nursery so hes probably alot more experienced than you are with different plants that are sensitive to organic matter, when your growing tropicals in a temperate climate and you havnt lost a plant to rot since following his advice its hard to believe he is wrong honestly, vegetables have low oxygen requirements. overwatering in compost kills plants rapidly, overwatering soil doesnt do anything@@gillenzfluff8380
@@veganchiefwarrior6444 In the uk soil gets over watered all the time causing all sorts of rot, I plant peas tomatoes courgettes runner all straight into homemade compost of a month old or a year old it doesn't make much difference.
I would say you shouldn't plant into shop brought multipurpose compost as plants die from lack of nutrients.
@@gillenzfluff8380 thats cause everyone in the uk mixes compost into there soil and turn it to muck presumably to grow vegetables lol i live in the same climate as the uk and ive lost bananas to collar rot and had others survive in clay loam depending on the amount of organic matter so yeh i dunno, im just learning 2
@@veganchiefwarrior6444 I haven't tried growing banana yet do you take them in over winter.
I managed to keep some tamarillo tree's going for about 6 year's from from seeds I germinated I almost lost 1 from over watering and stem rot I eased off on the water for a few weeks and it lived 2 more year's then died.
😳GYG😳GYG😳GYG😳
Thumbs down for the annoying subliminals
