Richard Wells I’m seriously considering buying blackbay 58. Looks great on the wrist. hesitant regarding the aluminum bezel though, had it been ceramic there would have been noquestion
@@MT-kx2uc I think matted ceramic like in the pelagos would look good on it keeping with the warm look of the watch while giving the advantages of modern bezels. I just think the deep black bezel is part of this watch's beauty. fading to light grey will make it less appealing
Ceramic bezel would've made it look more modern, not exactly what they were going for on this model. Buy the watch, you won't regret it. And if it gets scratched a little, who cares?! Just $.02 from someone who owns the 58
I also have a BB58 on the leather strap. Its probably the best purchase i have ever made. I can wear it in almost every occasion and it looks the part. Didn't think id find myself with a 39mm piece but it just works so well, definitely gets the most wrist time in my collection.
I have been looking at Tudor with different eyes. Since all these Rolex scarcity bs got started. I got annoyed and nausea. It's time for change. And Tudor open the door to all Rolex customer who were disappointed by Rolex on a daily basis! Great video Adrian! And nice watch!
Just a random fact: I almost binged all your videos, not because I'm so into luxury watches, but because you are such an authentic and "simple" guy (ment in a good way) and bring a little bit of ease in this way to strict watchworld. Love the coffee instead of champagne attitude! Keep up the great work! Greetings from Germany!
Nice review. I personally had the opportunity to purchase the original BB with the ETA movement, but opted for the newer in-house movement with the 70 hour power reserve and....yes the much more masculine Tudor shield. The larger case at 41mm suites me more than the new 58 as I have 8 inch wrist, but can see the benefit of the 39mm 58 for those with a sub 7 inch wrist. The BB is incredibly accurate timepiece and keeps the time even better when worn (vice a mechanical winder). A heavy duty timepiece for those that want precision coupled with good looks. A fantastic offering from Tudor which undeniably brought Tudor back from its long hiatus/obscurity.
They both have their merits, but as I picked up a BB58 yesterday, I may be slightly biased. It looks superb on the wrist and all in proportion. You wouldn't regret owning one.
I very recently bought the Black Bay 58 Navy Blue on the steel bracelet to compliment a range of predominantly black-dialled watches in my collection that include the classic Rolex Submariner Date 16610 that I've cherished for 19 yrs. The Tudor is a super, very well-made luxury timepiece and I appreciate its rather understated blue dial and aluminium bezel compared to the 'bling-blue' ceramic of my Omega Seamaster 300. Like-for-like think of the Blue 58 as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. The blue really pops in daylight or in well-lit rooms and a pleasure to wear. Although not quite up there with the Rolex in the absolute quality stakes - but why should it when it's barely 35% of a Sub's retail price - go to an AD and try one on. An in-house COSC certified movement, 70 hrs power reserve, staggering lume.... you won't be disappointed.
I owned a Black Bay S&G for about six months. It was a great looking watch, but way too thick and uncomfortable on my wrist. I sold it and got the BB58 and in my opinion it's the best Tudor diver on the market at the moment.
Great video, great watch. I picked one up in March and every time I put on another watch, I miss the 58 and go put it back on feeling relieved to have it on again. I had put my RedBar diver 65 on, wound it, Adrian post this video, and now I am going to put the 58 back on.
Bought the “58” about 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it. Wear it 90% of the time, wish the bracelet had an extension similar to the Explorer. Have a 7 1/2” wrist and the 39mm works great. Can’t ever imagine not having this watch in my collection! Love your videos, need to find a black and gold nato for the “58”. Cheers!
Love the 58! My favorite Tudor by far and my favorite semi-affordable watch in general. And it’s the perfect size for my wrist too. The ideal allrounder...handsome, in-house, no-date, reliable and tough, accurate too. My only caveat...inevitable damage to the aluminum (rather than scratch resistant ceramic) bezel insert. But then I suppose, if it got really scratched up badly, Tudor could always replace it.
Great article, thanks. I have both, and for me the 58 is the clear winner. Totally agree that the ETA dial is better with the curved writing and rose, I wish they'd kept that design throughout, but the slab-sided nature of the full size BB just doesn't work for me. The height of the 58 is what really makes it, it's just a perfectly proportioned watch. Can't wait for the inevitable two-tone 58 at some point, I'll be throwing my money at them!
I was almost sold on getting a Blackbay 58; but then I saw the Bronze and ahh man it just spoke to me. The Bronze has some serious character to it. I've owned only Silver Watches before and feel like maybe going with the Bronze might be a great addition to my journey into the world of watch collection. Really it's just down to whether I get a Nomos Tangente or get the Tudor for now. I would eventually hope to have both in my collection. Both extremely unique pieces from Baselworld 2019.
I just purchased my first real watch (only had a hamilton before). I went with the 58 and think it was the best watch I could get in my budget. The size is perfect for my 6.5" wrist. I wear it every day.
2015 Tudor Heritage Black Bay Black (Ref. 79220N) ETA is my daily. One of the very best "heritage" designs in my humble opinion. I much prefer the Tudor rose on the dial and crown, the "smiling" Rotor Self-Winding inscription on the dial, and the bracelet design to the current model and BB58. Having said that, my next Tudor will most likely be the BB58. Similar, yet different to the BB ETA. Both are great watches for any collection in my opinion.
After 2 years, I know exactly what you felt. I loved this watch but didn’t want to give in to the hype, and struggle to get my hands on one. If I really liked it after 2 years, I figured I’d get one. They just became available at my AD’s and I finally gave in and I’m absolutely loving this watch. It was well worth the wait. Sure, it could use another micro adjustment but the benefits are overwhelming.
I own and love the ETA version and have plans to buy a 58 at some point. The gold numerals on the 58 bezel have been the only thing holding me back. Keeping my fingers crossed we see more color options for the 58.
Call me crazy, but I bought a 79220N after its six month production run finished and I knew I'd never lose any money on resale and any competent watchmaker could service it.
Very good video, Adrian. I must disagree with the ETA BB over the new in-house 41mm. While I learned something in your video, that there is a difference in the height of the 2 versions, which upsets me even more about about the height of my 41mm BBs that I always believed were to tall, the in-house 70 hour movement and the removal of the “Squale” smiling text put the new version over the old version with room to spare. I do agree that the 58 is the best of all worlds, having the PR of the new BBs and Rolexes, and the 39mm size with much more traditional low profile height. I was going to add the GMT, but it’s clear now that the 58 is a more important piece for my collection and one I’ll enjoy much more as a Rolex vintage with the damn right to be an homage and better.
Only jumped on the Tudor train less than two weeks ago, really really enjoying it though, so much so that I think I might just double up & get another one,
Thanks for vid. I’ve owned both ETA and in-house BB. I had the red ETA and couldn’t justify the cost of a BB that had the same movement as my £300 Hamilton Khaki. Flipped it and bought the in-house BB black. It looks grown up, classy and fits my 8” wrist like a glove. The exception to the value equation is the ETA BB black which is soaring in value
I have a Tudor Black bay 36 with ETA 2824 movement in it. Tudor regulate the movement to be very accurate although it is not COSC certified. This is by no mean is a bad movement. But I am worry about longevity serviceability of this watch. I know ETA 2824 has been on market for decades and we can find the parts for this movement pretty easily. But the problem is Swatch group is cutting down the supply of ETA movement together with the parts to the company outside of swatch group. I am not sure whether there is someday in the future where our ETA powered Tudor watches will eventually stop getting the parts from ETA or we will end up using sellita parts as alternative.
I owned a 58 and then traded it for it’s bigger brother in steel and gold. I have to say I love the bigger version. It suits my wrist size far better. But there’s no denying once you’ve owned a black bay you’ll always own one. Fantastic watch. Great vid bud
Maybe someone have noticed, but there is an obvious visual trick from the designers on the new BB58 with straight dial text at the bottom. Now if you look from a bit of a distance, there is perfect and accurate silouette of Queen chess figure hidden on the dial. Whats more - it is covering fair of a space across the dial, top to bottom. The lower "stand" part of the figure shape is consisted of three text lines, each wider than the one above . The last text line is straight instead curved as in older BB58, completing the very bottom line of figure's profile. The top of the Queen's figure / head is created the upper typography, with the Tudor's shield at the very top, creating illusion of the crown, sitting on the head of the Queen. It is very well thought visual component in my opinion, not a product of random. Adds sort of "mythological" status quo to this fantastic timepiece even more : )
Hi. I bought the bb58 few months ago. Bought new and worth every penny. I have a slimmer wrist, wears beautiful. Much better dare I say than my Rolex datejust and submariner. The movement is great and keeping great time. Build quality is so good for the £2560 price tag. I could easily flip this watch and make a profit but that wont ever happen. I'm more likely to sell my Rolex datejust . Definitely worth the wait for the bb58. If you don't like the braclet it also looks great on leather strap but buy it with the braclet first and then swap over. Great video as always. Cheers David
This was a great comparison. I have the original red ETA version. I had been lusting after the BB58, but this video actually made me appreciate my of ETA classic. The best part... it's paid for!
Mainland Europe is scorching hot right now. But Adrian still walking in a sweater, heavy coat in the dripping rain. Got to love Britain. I completely agree that the rose and the 'smiley text' was more attractive. I prefer the dimensions of the 58. To me it gives the watch kind of a vintage submariner vibe that I strangely did not get (despite the inspiration) from the larger Black Bay. At this point I would consider the ETA a benefit. There are all kinds of different qualities of inhouse movements. And not all of them have the pedigree and proven reliability of the ETA movements. Even Tudor, only recently on their Black Bay GMT, still had major issues with their new movements. I know it goes beyond function, as some people think a watch maker does not really count unless they make their own movements. But from a practical standpoint as a consumer, and as someone mainly interested in the quality of the watch that is on my wrist: ETA is not a bad thing. There are other more interesting movements that I'd rather have, but I certainly do not prefer just ANY inhouse movement because it is inhouse (regardless of its style, look, shape, function, complexity etc).
So cool to see & hear COFFEE mentioned again. I have a 9.5 inch wrist (that's 24.13cm for our UK & EU friends) so I opt for the 40mm and above watches. That said the 58 is a sharp looking watch.
Hello Adrian. I am going to get my Tudor BB58 hopefully soon. I was watching this video a few times. Yesterday I was looking at your shop for the strap you have in this video at 0:55, but I can’t find it. Pls help me, where or how can I find it. I like to order it to Germany. Thx a lot. Cheers.
I love the video, but I gotta call ‘bullish/t’, Adrian. You say the 41mm is “boring” because of the shield and one row of straight text. Which is exactly the same as the 58, which you call “brilliant”.
In comparison to the original version, with the rose and smiley text. Maybe there is a bit of bias going on because I prefer other factors on the 58. But I think both shield dials lack the character found in the rose dial.
Fox_Bruh 318 absolutely, I don’t get the love for ETA powered ones. I think most people are going to be going to RSC for service and I wonder if the cost is different.
Seriously can we stop with the ETA bs. You get an amazing movement COSC in house movement for less than $3000, and all the stuff about servicing and parts is rubbish. You get a chronometer and you should treat it as such and give it a proper servicing.

Have a ceramic sub and a tudor fifty eight and its very hard to decide which one to wear more tbh. I love the modernized sub and how gorgeous it is yet I love how tudor captured the look of the old 50s 60s watches
Rather stick with the ETA, because when it comes time to service (as with all mechanical watches) it'll be more cost friendly and robust than an in house movement.
I agree ETA calibers are reliable but I personally like the individual soul that a proprietary caliber gives to the brand. Now, if you take good care of a extremely precise caliber designed specifically for a beautiful case like the BB 58, you really don´t need to worry about getting parts from the manufacturer. Proper oiling and cleaning will be enough.
got the bb58 black a few weeks back and i love it. as for improvements i think yes curved red text, the rose and possibly a red dive depth would have been nice. as youve said in other videos the pibot plate on the hands is a little big and faux rivets - yuck lol. id also like to have know the movement was finished a little better. yes its great in house and you cant see it but no ones saying "man that bb58 movement is beautiful"
I've been wearing 42mm+ watches most of my life even upto 48 and 50mm and I haven't realised on my small wrists I've had it all wrong until I tried on the Tudor BB58 last wk at first I thought where's the watch gone on my wrist looking down trying it on at my local AD then the penny dropped this is the perfect watch size for me!!!!!! DOH Oh and the perfect watch too! Think this is the very first watch I've ever bought that hasn't got a date function. On 01.10.2020 I looked at my BB58 and thought that's why I don't need a date window anymore... 1). I can never see them with my eyesight anyway. And 2). I don't miss changing the dates at the end of the month! Hahaha
love the 58, the colours, the shade of lume, the red pip - - ticks all the boxes! looks amazing on that dark brown leather strap.......went to try one on, sadly looked absolutely lost on my 8" wrist, waaaaaaaaay too small! in fact, the demo piece in the AD was on the nato (which i also love) but i couldnt even do it up to the first hole! Always prefer a diver on the OEM steel strap but HATE those faux rivets! In the end went for a Pelagos and couldn't be happier!
Own BB GMT, BB RED ETA, My wife has a BB32...also own a 50’s Precision...Love Tudor Great brand and watch...I like the riveted Bracelet...have no Idea why people hate it...
I've got the BBGMT, and I have no issue with the rivets of the bracelet, don't bother me in the slightest and I don't get why people get so bent out of shape about it. That being said, the folding bit of the Tudor clasp pinches and pulls hairs far, far more often than my Rolex Oyster bracelets ever have, which is why I opt for putting the BBGMT on the strap probably 70% of the time.
Just bought a BB 79230N. I like swimming against the tide in the hyped-up herd mentality of the watch world and seem to always chose the leftfield version hence why I bought the Sub with case holes and love quartz! 41mm works on my wrist it is a dive watch afterall and not an office/flex ornament. I reckon in about 10-15yrs the 41mm will be the one more sought after as it will have had lower sales, initially slated etc
You know what. Last week I got my BB58 and sent it back for the ETA 79220N I got today as new old stock ;-) The BB58 was too small for me and looked too playful. I didn't like the golden bezel and the leather bracelet and buckle were too small for my wrist. But it had a very good rate of -1 in four days. I'll wait and see how the ETA goes - she's smiling at me right now :)
OK I have the Tudor Hydronault II with the ETA movement. I just bought the Black Bay 41 with the black dial. I love this watch, its like wearing a 1950s Submariner . I have the MT5602, beautiful caliber movement. My other watches may go on Chrono24
I'm having the same issue with the 58. I really like it and I want to buy one, but there's something that's keeping me from going for it. I don't know why but I just can't seem to find a good enough reason to buy it.
Mmmmm, Tudor, my favourite brand. Those Black Bays are beautiful without a doubt, especially the GMT model. To be honest though, the 58 isn't my cup of tea due to it's size. with 7 3/4 inch wrists what does one expect lol. The model I absolutely love though is the Tudor Pelagos, I only wish they would come out with a GMT version, both a "Pepsi" and a "Batman" and all in stainless steel. OK, I must be slightly mad, but have even gone as far as rendering those versions (and they look ruddy nice!). Thanks for another great video Adrian.
Great video, Adrian - but you failed to mention ANY of the tweaks that Tudor did to the 2824 for the 2012 Black Bays (shock absorbers, blued screws, Cotes de Geneve...). There are 3 levels of ETA and Tudor used the top level. Rolex had an agreement with the Swatch Group to supply the movements which they then modified to top grade. So yes its only an ETA movement but Tudor didn't cut any corners and slammed a damn decent one inside :)
fattyharrybasset - Yes top level. COSC does not count as a level, it’s a third party test for accuracy. These Tudor ETAs have COSC accuracy but they just didn’t have them COSC certified (for the purpose of keeping the RRP cost down).
I just got the BB58 last week and I’m loving it. I agree with you mate. Not loving the faux rivets but not hating them. You don’t notice them at all on the wrist. Besides, just replace it with a B&J strap. Problem solved!
Good video! I got the Black Bay 79220n and i absolutely love it! It keeps time +/- 0 seconds a day which blows my mind everytime i check it. In my point of view the ETA Black Bay is the ultimatve Black Bay to own. It got a better look and its collectable especially the black one.
I’ve had the burgundy in-house and now the BB58. Never had an issue with the riveted bracelet never had an issue with the lack of the Tudor Rose. (All reviews point these out it seems) I did have an issue with the top-heaviness of the regular BB, it’s a chunk. But now that I have the BB58, the sizing is perfect, but WOW does it lack wrist presence.
I do love the 58... everything except the brown bezel text. I much prefer the silver bezel text of the 41mm ETA. The 79220’s lay nice and flat against the wrist. That plus the very limited 6-8 month production run, its worth FAR more now that what I paid for it and it will only continue to go up.
I think they are both awesome...I love the convenience and reliability of the ETA movement and smile text on the original. thank you another great video Adrian :)
I agree with you about all of that.... I enjoy the improved accuracy that cosc gives... My experience of eta movements has given me around +7 seconds per day...whereas I'm getting -1 second per day from the Tudor MT 5612. I know you don't buy autos for accuracy, but still...it's a nice benefit if it's accurate. Nice to see Tudor producing interesting watches now. All the best......
I love that it is thinner, and I think the 70 hour movement is a huge plus. The old dial does have more character, as you say, but the positives ohtway those negatives.
Just got the call from my AD. I went on the list 3 days ago and it turns out Tudor are doing an even in a nearby bar and my AD will have 2 available on bracelet. Roll on Friday!!!!
I agree. I would love own either of them. That ETA movent is tried and tested. But the allure of an in-house movement is strong. To be honest, if I had to flip a coin to decide, I would be happy either way.
I have owned both. Even though I have a small wrist (17cm)I liked 41mm with ETA movement better than Fifty Eight. Sold the Fifty Eight. Scarcity of Fifty eight is making it more desirable to a certain extent.
I have the GMT, I love it. The 58 is good for smaller guys, but it looks dainty my 7inch wrist for a diver (esp as I am tall). I like the depth the GMT too, it gives the watch more presence. I think its great Tudor make watches for different sized guys, they hit medium / large first with the 41s, now medium / small with the 39s. The blue 39 tomorrow will be interesting to see.
It looks great (58) and I do like the smiley txt on the older model. But have to say the 58 just does it for me as well. In house movement and still a great price. I also just purchased a chrono s&g. Purely because of how the dial looks.
I find the 58 to be spot on. Not perfect, but as close to the vintage Rolex/Tudors of old without the upfront costs and inherent fragility. Personally I like the 'odd' shield/rose use as it feels planted in both the modern era and gives its nod to history. Perhaps it's because I talked myself into buying one but I love it.
Both watch are nice and have pro/cons. I personally like the eta version better w the bigger case. One thing w eta movement, people like to shit on it but it’s a very reliable movement. I have a Rolex gmt ceramic that a gear broke and the hour hand stopped advancing. My local watch maker could not fix it and no one could source the part. I sent it back to Rolex for service and cost 670, granted it was for a full service but Rolex refused to change that part alone. If this was an eta watch, it’s a 50 dollar job all day long! Just something to think about when consider these tudors, since eta version are plenty on the secondary market. Great video!
Great video as always. Funny how good coffee and good watches go together. I love my Black Bay Black ETA. Such a beautiful watch. I’m more than happy with it, and certainly don’t feel the need or desire to switch to the BB58. I bought mine on the leather, and it came with the fabric strap, but I was lucky enough to find someone selling a brand new steel bracelet, so I have the best of all 3 worlds. My only complaint is the slight rattle from the end links on the steer bracelet. Solid end links would have been the icing on the cake, but other than that, it’s perfect.
I own a 79220N and I love it. I used to drool for an BB58, but somehow ended up with the black rose instead. I think the main reason is that 58 is very very popular, and the black rose has only been made for 6 months so it's more rare and has more character to it. Also thinking afterwards, I don't like the rivited bracelet and I think the ''fake patina'' on the bezel is too much.
I like the 58 as it will suit my tiny wrists, but I probably go for the ETA, as it has more character, it will be cheaper to buy and to service. It's a shame really, the problem with in house movements they are tricky to maintain like you said, the parts would scarce and very expensive.
I have the in house red bezel Tudor Black Bay and love it but it is a bit chunky. The 58 really fills the bill but I bought a Rolex 18 months ago and haven’t taken it off since the day I bought it. The 58 would be my next watch but at the moment I can’t see it happening. Great review and video.
Beautifully shot video Adrian. The ETA red bezel was my first real watch in 2015, and I got myself the Harrods edition this Feb. The ETA version does just have something special about it. Tudor are knocking it out the park at the moment - hard to find many watches of their quality for under £3k.
I have a Blackbay with the in-house movement 5602 . I personally would have got it with an eta and that wouldn't have bothered me. for me the 41mm is perfect with a 7.75 in wrist. This is a tough watch. I'm a landscaper and this is my daily wearer. The 56 looks like another winner to me..
The 58 is a thing of beauty. That said, I adore both my BB's with the 2824 (red bezel and black bezel) and both are great time keepers. I think in recent times that Tudor have smashed it out of the park with models and marketing. The Harrods and the Bucherer Blue Bronze for example are stunning watches. Nice video Adrian. Cheers
Adrian, I agree on the faux rivets of the 58, but - I talked to strapcode and they said they will release several strap-options for the 58 this year. Their bracelets are superb and probably rivet-free..
I would argue the smaller size of the BB58 was the opposite of brave. The market constantly begs for more accurate tributes as well as the majority of the most prominent collectors appreciate the more vintage sizes. Had they made it a 36mm, I think that would’ve been more than daring. It has all but been agreed 39mm is the perfectly sized watch (only to be battled with 40mm and since the BB eta is 41, 39 made sense). They didn’t get rid of the 41mm Edition altogether - they’re produced at the same time. So if anything, I think this was arguably a safe move, and I believe demand for the 39mm BB has reflected that. Aside from this one point, this is a great review, Adrian. Couldn’t agree more about the fake riveted bracelet. Keep up the great work!
Great punchy video fella. I personally think Tudor are on fire at the moment. It started with the 7922, (particularly red bezel and black bezel - I don't think the blue has the same warm and deep look) and they've gone from strength to strength. I love the bronzes. I think they've been v astute with their marketing. I also love the GMT. My 2 original 2824's get a lot of wrist time. Both were affordable, v reliable, and v handsome. I think you should pull the trigger on a 58. You love your Explorer so that slightly smaller watch is subtly more easy on the eye and wrist
I don’t care about in-house snobbery (although I do appreciate a good in-house movement ), but the ETA 2824 let the original Black Bay down. For the money, an uncertified movement with only 38h PR was not acceptable when I could get the exact movement in $400-500 Tissot and Hamilton. Hell, I can get a COSC certified, 80h PR version, with a silicone mainspring for under $1000 from Tissot. It’s just a shame the new 41mm is now so thick, because the 58, at 39mm, is too small for my 8in wrists.
Mate ofcourse it's an obvious watch to get. I got two, one for my wrist and one I just chucked into the safe for my kids to sell when they are older or keep. Great investment and also BB58 is hands down the world's most talked about watch at this moment. Cheap and amazing I just can't stop french kissing mine
it depends on your wrist size. for small size 58 for large size ETA. all the versions of Tudor BB are great. but if you want something more affordable that keeping time like the ETA version in the size of 58 you can have NTH not Tudor. for
Black Bay 58 hands down for me. Sold my BB ETA after living with them both for a few weeks. The BB58 wears infinitely better and has almost double the power reserve.
The ETA isn't really thinner than the in house one despite the 2mm difference. They just made the caseback thicker to fit the movement, the sides of the case have the same slabbed chunkiness
Good judgement Adrian. The ETA 2824 movement is an entry level movement compared to the new in house one which IMHO is streets better with that superior power reserve and accuracy.
The smaller dimensions (especially the thickness) are why I'm holding out for a 58 atm. It's just perfectly proportioned for my slim wrist. Personally I find the capabilities of the in-house movement over the eta a big plus too.
I have Tudor BB 36 blue dial, it's ETA runs +2 sec per day! I also have a MKII Kingston which is sometimes mistaken for BB 58, 39mm, gilt dial, no crown guard, riveted bracelet, domed crystal...
Adrian great vid like the Bb 58 bracelet needs micro adjust. Hope they expand the line to other colors and bring out a titanium 58 to replace the pelegos.
Great comparison. The 58 vs the ETA is very close, I personally like different things about both. I prefer 41mm over 39mm but I much prefer a non colored crown stem. I don't care about the rose vs shield and actually prefer the straight text on the dial vs the semi circular text. The thickness of the two I am O.K. with but I think the in house Black Bay at 41mm and 14.8mm thick is just not a good fit or proportion. I would give the ETA a slight edge over the 58 but am waiting to see if Tudor releases a blue bezel version (I prefer the the white vs the gilt on the dial) of the 58, which I would scoop up.

I have owned the Tudor Blackbay 58 for 8 months now. This watch keeps amazing time a still looks great. If you buy one you will not regret it
Richard Wells I’m seriously considering buying blackbay 58.
Just $.02 from someone who owns the 58
fadiinspace just buy it you won’t be disappointed. In 8 years when you get it serviced they will put on a new bezel for you.
Which bracelet did you go with? Heard some complaints about the faux-rivet metal bracelet.
My perfect watch: 40 mm, 20 mm band, BB58 movement, smiley face, tudor logo, gilt dial, double domed sapphire.
And no pho rivit bracelet.
There's a strong case to buy either watch but i still have a soft spot for the ETA version.
I also have a BB58 on the leather strap. Its probably the best purchase i have ever made. I can wear it in almost every occasion and it looks the part. Didn't think id find myself with a 39mm piece but it just works so well, definitely gets the most wrist time in my collection.
Simon Lowe what size are your wrists?
Paul.w w 8.5 inches.
I have been looking at Tudor with different eyes. Since all these Rolex scarcity bs got started. I got annoyed and nausea. It's time for change. And Tudor open the door to all Rolex customer who were disappointed by Rolex on a daily basis! Great video Adrian! And nice watch!

ETA with rose and smiley dial with iron bracelet
41 mm all the way for me. Though the ETA dial is so more attractive to me. My next watch will be the blue bezel black bay🕺🏽
Same for me! I must admit my next watch could well be the Bremont S501
Cheers!
39-40 is the perfect size for almost everyone.
picked up the watch yesterday, ordered this nato strap: www.crownandbuckle.com/straps-by-type/natos/supreme-nato-straps.html
You know when they say that scratches add character? This black bay rose is the definition of that! Looks well loved and enjoyed.
Can't wait for the inevitable two-tone 58 at some point, I'll be throwing my money at them!
wanna sell your ETA movement?
I was almost sold on getting a Blackbay 58; but then I saw the Bronze and ahh man it just spoke to me. The Bronze has some serious character to it. I've owned only Silver Watches before and feel like maybe going with the Bronze might be a great addition to my journey into the world of watch collection. Really it's just down to whether I get a Nomos Tangente or get the Tudor for now. I would eventually hope to have both in my collection. Both extremely unique pieces from Baselworld 2019.
I have the eta version and fit it with the ranger bracelet and I have to say it put the watch on a crazy next level that the 58 will not ever achieve.
Only jumped on the Tudor train less than two weeks ago, really really enjoying it though, so much so that I think I might just double up & get another one,
It really is amazing how much you get for your money with Tudor.
I only have a 8inch wrist the 41 looks too tall for me
Maybe someone have noticed, but there is an obvious visual trick from the designers on the new BB58 with straight dial text at the bottom.
Definitely the best part of owning a Luxury watch is having it paid off, even a £1800 watch required a little 0% finance lol
Well said
So cool to see & hear COFFEE mentioned again.
Thx a lot.
Cheers.
Hi Ronny, thanks for watching mate. Year we’ve stopped this strap now. But we will have some more colours and stripes in a couple of months. 🤙🏻
The 58 is a great all-around watch, but really missing that rose on the dial and the character of the ETA movement.
Valen Greymoon I own a 58. I’m with you on the rose, but I’ll take the in house 70hr reserve movement over an ETA any day of the week.
Fox_Bruh 318 absolutely, I don’t get the love for ETA powered ones. I think most people are going to be going to RSC for service and I wonder if the cost is different.
tynan nida agree 100% on the 58 but much prefer BB ETA with the slimmer case
ETA movement character? Are you high?
Bought a bb58 navy in the summer, now I'm about to treat myself to the black ETA version for my 30th. Tudor appeal to me so much.
got the bb58 black a few weeks back and i love it. as for improvements i think yes curved red text, the rose and possibly a red dive depth would have been nice. as youve said in other videos the pibot plate on the hands is a little big and faux rivets - yuck lol. id also like to have know the movement was finished a little better. yes its great in house and you cant see it but no ones saying "man that bb58 movement is beautiful"
Love the “word from your sponsor” great to see you got a good sense of humor in you man!
I'm having the same issue with the 58. I really like it and I want to buy one, but there's something that's keeping me from going for it. I don't know why but I just can't seem to find a good enough reason to buy it.
Brant Lowe feeling exactly the same way.
As far as I'm aware it's four levels. Standard, elabore, top & cosc. I presume you mean they used the top level, because it's not cosc?
fattyharrybasset - Yes top level. COSC does not count as a level, it’s a third party test for accuracy. These Tudor ETAs have COSC accuracy but they just didn’t have them COSC certified (for the purpose of keeping the RRP cost down).
I have the Blue ETA. I would like the 58 more if it did not have absurd fake rivets.
Have tried both the new Black Bay and the Black Bay 58. I have a 7,25 inch wrist and in my opinion the 58 fit me much much better. Fantastic watch
Or do you save 2 G's and get the oris diver 65 bronze?
I really think there is a lot of weight in that argument
@@gurinderkular7209 a side by side comparison of the BB58 and oris 65 would be great to see.
Getting +3 to -3 a month on my 5602 after over a year. Cheers
Adrian, great video. I think the question is not “should I get a BB58?”, rather “how do I get a BB58”. They are proving unobtainable in AUS and NZ.
I got one
This channel is about Drinking Coffee and Talking Watches....simply outstanding, literally.
Just got my Blue on bracelet at a very recent Tudor event. 😀👍
I just left a message for Tudor to call me when they come out with a 39mm case, the ETA movement, the curved typography, and a rose on the dial.
And a non faux riveted bracelet
I find the 58 to be spot on. Not perfect, but as close to the vintage Rolex/Tudors of old without the upfront costs and inherent fragility. Personally I like the 'odd' shield/rose use as it feels planted in both the modern era and gives its nod to history. Perhaps it's because I talked myself into buying one but I love it.
Did you end up buying on? Or still considering it? Thanks
Love the 58, brilliant segment. Btw, your straps are the awesome.
Ooooo fwenddddd, nato fwenddd

Always good to see coffee making an appearance.
Expensive coffee as well 🤣🤣🤣
True, unless it's the generic instagram pic.
One year on.. does your buddy still own both black bays?
Mate ofcourse it's an obvious watch to get. I got two, one for my wrist and one I just chucked into the safe for my kids to sell when they are older or keep. Great investment and also BB58 is hands down the world's most talked about watch at this moment. Cheap and amazing I just can't stop french kissing mine
Should talk about your camera gear sometime. Is that a contax and a Fuji back there?
it depends on your wrist size. for small size 58 for large size ETA. all the versions of Tudor BB are great. but if you want something more affordable that keeping time like the ETA version in the size of 58 you can have NTH not Tudor. for
Black Bay 58 hands down for me.
Would love to see 58 with the rose and smiley face - but latter may be challenging given how much text there is to promote the COSC.
I have Tudor BB 36 blue dial, it's ETA runs +2 sec per day! I also have a MKII Kingston which is sometimes mistaken for BB 58, 39mm, gilt dial, no crown guard, riveted bracelet, domed crystal...
Just got the 58 and i dont regret it !!
I don't like the diamond hour hand. If it was like the minute hand I would have gotten it on strap.
