Oh my gosh I was dying when you left the helmets behind and the cowries!!! Such beauties..the Caribbean vase was spectacular! Thank you for taking us!!!🎉
I actually collected quite a few Helmets during the first couple days of this trip, lol. The cowries were a total surprise as I stumbled upon a honey hole - love honey holes! Thanks for watching, and coming along!
I agree! If it wasn't so hot and humid there, I totally would have sat and sorted through for mini's... it's always so enjoyable to do this! Thanks for watching!
A carribean vase?! Have never seen or heard of them but...WOW!...so classy!!! Thanx for all the info and as it rains outside, I will say Thanx for letting me tag along and you look great in 4K.....!!!!
Enjoy all of your videos especially since you leave the ocean waves for us to enjoy. I saw so many shells that I’d love to find, hold & bring home. What joy it would be to be able to sit & look for the minis & walk the beach looking for shells. Living in North TX/DFW area I don’t get a chance to go to a beach. Your videos take me there and I appreciate you and all you do.
My content will always be here for any who searches for peace through a beach experience 💙 Thank you for watching, and I look forward to seeing you on the next one!
Another amazing video. We're totally jealous of your international adventures! Thanks a million for bringing such great shelling content to UA-cam and sharing such great shelling adventures in different countries. You found some amazing shells and we're even more motivated now to get back to the Caribbean. Such great cones, cowries, and helmet finds. Thanks again for sharing!
Thank you so much! This was filmed a couple of years ago, but I am always figuring out new places that I can get to, to shell and film - it's so cathartic! Appreciate your viewership!
That mystery shell did indeed look like a giant apple murex! What an experience. I've yet to find my first cowrie or a mouse cone for that matter. That Caribbean vase was an awesome score! Fabulous video as always! 🐚🐚
The Apple Murex shells get SO big in the Caribbean. We are all waiting for your shelling trip to one of these places... it will be so EPIC! 💙 Thank you for watching, Friend!
What great finds. I saw a gastropod a few times, white shaped similar to the star shell but had a brown stripe around the center bottom like a racing stripe (9:28). What is it? I only saw it upside down.
With this magnificent video as inspiration I just spent 7 glorious days in SE PR shelling and found hundreds of beauteous shells including my first reticulated cowries, a large Caribbean Vase and multiple coach’s of all sizes! Thanks again for your great location tips, I have a few of my own now too. Unfortunately the inspectors at the Dept of Agriculture checkpoint confiscated all my beauteous finds! They said my only option was to be prosecuted by the police and pay hefty fines (of course, not really an option). They said they had to return the shells to the Dept of Natural Resources to return to the beach because they eventually become sand. This is true, but I don’t think PR has any risk of an impending sand shortage! It turns out they confiscate all your shells if you have any contraband which includes sand, coral and land snails, which I did have a few of. What gets me is that according to their website you can take dead, cleaned shells as long as they are not from a reserve. But I found out the hard way that the inspector has the final say in what they take. I’m trying to take your great advice to remember that the experience of finding shells is the real wonder of it all, though I would have loved to have that vase and those cowries in my collection! I think I will stick to the islands around Nassau for now, as they are less strict.
I am so sorry to hear that you had a poor experience with your shells. I visited PR a few years back, and did my best to research regulations ahead of my visit, but it's possible things have gotten more strict. I declared the shells in my checked luggage, and while it had to go through additional scanning, I had no issues getting them home. Glad to hear, that aside from that, you had fun in PR! Thanks for watching!
Oh that sounds so painful!! :( I'm so sorry you had to leave them behind. They probaby wouldn't have let you mail them either? Or next time, could you mail them home? I am traveling to PR next month, and really want to find some new ones for my collection. Any other tips you have to be able to bring them home with me, I'm open ears. And - places to go :) Just starting my research to find out.
You found some amazing shells and you left some amazing shells. It makes sense when you have already picked up so many. Thank you so much for sharing these great shelling videos. Have a great day.
Thanks for another great video Brian. That Carribean Vase was awesome. I could stay in those rocks for hours. Beautiful cones and I just love all Limpets and coral! You make such calming videos in the most beautiful places. Thanks for taking us on your adventures!
Brian, what awesome shells!! I want to put this on my bucket list but I didn’t catch the name of the beach, if you could tell me please. Beautiful video! They keep getting better and better!
I love all of the cool shells. Do you know much about Coral? Maybe next time you could include a few different coral pieces even if you don't keep them :) thanks!
I always appreciate cool coral finds on the beach, but I must admit, I am not versed in their identifications, lol. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for watching!
Hi Bryan. I loved your video. Thank you for taking us on this amazing journey with you. Your mystery shell was beautiful The mouse cones are great. Does the captain cone snails sting ?
Hello! All Cone snails are capable of inflicting a sting, but Atlantic Cones aren't considered deadly like some Pacific Cone species are. Thanks for watching!
Are you allowed unlimited dead shells to bring back to the US mainland or does PR not allow certain shells and coral to leave the island? Beautiful finds by the way. Enjoy your channel and your beautiful dog. I have 4 big dogs.
I can only speak to my experience, but I didn't have any issues packing a few gallon Ziplock bags with shells in my checked luggage. I am not sure about the laws regarding removal of coral from PR. Thanks for watching!
I usually bring small tupperware containers(or something similar), and will bury these in the middle of my suitcase. Most often, everything makes it home in one piece! Thanks for watching!
Hi friend! I can only speak to my experience, but I did not have an issue taking a few shells home carefully packed in my checked luggage! Thank you for watching!
This mystery shell does resemble a Triton, though I think it actually may be a worn Apple Murex. In the Caribbean, Apple Murex shells can get much larger than they do in Florida. Thanks so much for watching!
ua-cam.com/video/5LxOirero5M/v-deo.html Idk if you’d like to try cleaning some of those shells with acid, but here’s a video with how to do that and it takes off some of the calcification and the colors come through beautifully. I thought I’d share in case you’re interested. You scored some gorgeous shells! 😊
I love her channel - nice information around the muriatic process. I have some recent content, where I put some of my best Caribbean specimens through the acid process, and they came out beautiful! Thanks for watching!

Yes you should have kept the shell.
Ty for taking me along. Never been to that island. ❤
Thank you for coming along!
I would be sitting there half the day collecting the minis. Thanks Brian. Those cowries, cones, limpets, vase, OH Myyyyy. Jackpot.
I agree! If it wasn't so hot and humid there, I totally would have sat and sorted through for mini's... it's always so enjoyable to do this!
Thanks for watching!
Outstanding shells! My favorite: the Wentletrap (it's the biggest one I've ever seen), and the Carribean Vase. Thanks for taking us along! 🐚 😎
Wowza! Those cowries and cones were amazing. Sure wish I was following you to pick up the helmet shells you left behind!

Thaks as always for your wonderful videos. It's so great that you take us places we will never get to. And great finds!
You are welcome to come along any time, friend! Thanks for watching!
Oh wow, so very good! I don’t have the same willpower to leave shells back that you do. If they aren’t broken, I would collect them all!
I definitely ended up taking quite a few home, but only ones I absolutely loved. I agree, it's difficult to have restraint!
Thanks for watching!

Hello friend! This shell is actually a land snail, and there were tons of them - I am not sure of the exact name.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful shells. Loved watching you hunt. 🐳
Thanks for watching this content!
I know I’d be like, “I don’t NEED all these cowries, but I’ll take them all, if that’s ok!”
Cool Adventure!!
Thanks so much for watching, friend!

Lovely shells. What are those stones with the red spots on them? I also loved all the pieces of corral. 🐌🐚🐕🥰
I think these red spots are called Foraminifera, and they attach to molluscs!
Thanks for watching!
Wow…Great shells. I would have a hard time leaving any of those shells behind? What was the name of the beach again?
Hello, this is Yabucoa in SE Puerto Rico!
Thank you so much for watching the content!

This is SE PR, Yabucoa region

Amazing shells. But do you ever run into problems at customs in carrying them across borders?

How do you get your shells home from these far away places?
I usually bring small tupperware containers(or something similar), and will bury these in the middle of my suitcase. Most often, everything makes it home in one piece!

How hard is it to bring back the shells?
Hi friend! I can only speak to my experience, but I did not have an issue taking a few shells home carefully packed in my checked luggage!

Thank you for letting me know ill be sure to pack them carefully.
hi..are you able to show the names of shells on the video please
I meant conchs not coaches!
Btw. Looked like a Triton if that’s how you spell it.
This mystery shell does resemble a Triton, though I think it actually may be a worn Apple Murex. In the Caribbean, Apple Murex shells can get much larger than they do in Florida.

That's an apple murex
This is what I thought as well - they appear to grow quite large in the Caribbean!
