For hose who don't know, "Animals" is finally (!) being released in surround (separately) as a Blu-ray and SACD this Sept. and Oct. There's also a deluxe edition with a vinyl.
My favorite Pink Floyd song on my favorite Pink Floyd album, and Sheep is right there with it. The moment I heard those synthesizer dogs barking, I was hooked.
Absolutely , their most accomplished album IMO. Perfection. You've got the acoustic guitar book - ends of Pigs on the wing , then this brilliant monster of a track in 'Dogs' which has Gilmour's best maestro moments. Pigs ( three different ones ) probably my personal favourite , and Sheep. All absolute genius. Great choice Nathan and Jana. It's 1977 release perfectly mirrors the Prog/Punk switch in rock music , and I love it. Van de Graaf's album from same year - The quiet zone/ The pleasure dome is up there too for the same reason. Happy Sunday. 😍 Love your work.
Happy Sunday! Animals is a great album. Dogs is my favorite song from the album. Almost perfection. The guitars are incredible as well as the vocals. 17 minutes of pure magic. Jana will love it❣🐶🐕🦮🐕🦺🐩😎
Not computerized, the genius of Richard Wright making his keyboard bark. Geniuses all around. All contributing to an epic sound like no other band before or since.
Siete i reactors ideali per i veri fans dei Pink Floyd. Non interrompere continuamente il brano, non parlate sopra e solo al termine fate commenti molto intelligenti e appropriati. Bravi 👏👏👏👏👏
Pro Rock album of 1976 by The Alan Parsons Project and I'Robot 1977 both these albums got to be listened as a whole album these are truly classic Progressive electronic and classical combination infused amazing music.
A classic album, but a little dark for some. IMO Roger Waters had few peers as a lyricist back then. What you also hear on this track specifically was how Pink Floyd successfully hung onto their experimental side that went all the way back to the 60's Syd Barrett days. They had achieved enough success with Dark Side of the Moon that the label was like "You want to pad out your song with a 5-minute synthesizer meditation? Sure, guys. Whatever you want." And fortunately in 1977 radio stations were playing long songs like this anyways, so bands didn't have to worry about making shorter songs. It gave bands license to indulge in something like this, which in PF's case usually worked out well. But the punk era was coming on strong and that was all about to change.
Well done. It was good to see two people just chillin' out listening to the music without constant interruptions 👍 Oh, and btw, Pink Floyds best album. Also please listen to pigs and sheep from the same album.
It helped me understand this track by reading George Orwell book Animal Farm. The dogs whilst they are "Man's best Friend" wonder if man is their best friend. when they are of no further use they get discarded. It's a dog's life as the saying goes. i listen to this and Sheep which they go together. The sheep do away with the dogs and then the pigs, man is next.....I like the sarcastic use of Psalm 23 in highlighting what man does to sheep.
The Vocoders Synthesizers Dogs is my mega favorite section of this brilliant composition that sound of the String Ensemble Synthesizers that just took it to another level and the Dogs voices being recorded with auto tune years before it was popular just became super awesome I luv Robotic sounds in music I think it's brilliant and creative the Robot Dogs it's pure genius.
KANSAS 1975 Incomudro Hymn To The Atman. This song is super Epic it just gets overlooked but give it a listen it's incredible atmospheric Progressive Masterpiece.
great piece from Animals, although it's odd how Animals I consider my favorite Floyd record (with Atom Heart and Obscured By Clouds close behind), I have always struggled with what track I enjoy the most. Greater than the sum of its parts. I kind of feel much better listening to the whole record rather than just 1 track.
I would love to do Ocean Cloud, I’ll make sure that is on the list! We would definitely have done King Crimson by now, but I’ve been warned they are blockers…
The underlying politics/morality tales of this album poisons the well of what is truly great music, unfortunately. For me, the more that Roger took control, the more self-indulgent he became, and the more the albums become unbalanced and overtly misanthropic and anti-individual.
Absolute waste of time! You have nothing more to say about that fabulous song? When I was a teacher, I gave to read to my students The Animal Farm by G. Orwell. This book allows a great analysis of the political figures who marked their time: Marx/Lenin, Stalin, Trotsky, Molotov, Hitler, Nicolas II, Roosevelt, Churchill... Waters, who is highly politicized - I attended his This is not a drill tour-, jumped on this story with joy and inspiration. This whole piece deserves a more substantial in-depth study than these few "greats" which are by no means up to par with this masterpiece. Too bad, you just lost a music lover and fan of PF...
Sorry to waste your time. The point of these videos with my wife is to share music with her that she hasn’t heard before and get her first impressions. I thought it would be an interesting perspective. Since this is a first listen for her (and we randomly shuffle into each selection, meaning we don’t prepare any notes in advance) we aren’t really capable of diving into an in-depth analysis of the songs, and that isn’t the focus of these videos. If that style isn’t for you and you prefer not to watch these videos, that is completely fair- I just hope it doesn’t sour you on my whole channel. In my solo videos I often go into deeper dives about music- especially in my ranking videos. But I’m the first to admit, I’m no music historian or literary expert. I just am a music fan talking about what I love. If you wish to seek out a more expert opinion, I totally get it. Thanks for commenting though, and it does give me something to think about for future videos.
@@NathanOnShuffle Sorry for being too forceful in my comments. When it comes to Dogs, I am very demanding - perhaps too much - and will henceforth have to take the videos for what they are: recordings of music lovers who simply want to share their joy when listening to music without going there in the systematic analysis of the pieces in relation to the instruments, the melodies, the lyrics, the inspiration, the references... To pause in the songs to convey the feelings, the impressions created at the same time is for me more enriching. Because some pieces go through so many disparate and complex parts that we have to cut them into smaller, more... shall we say, accessible parts.
the best song of all time in my humble opinion!

Glad you liked the selection today! I agree that it is brilliant! Happy Sunday to you as well!
Please feature Van de Graaf's said album , maybe ' Cat's Eye '. Awesome cross-over music of the highest order. Thanks again. 😍
Great song from an even greater album. One of mine top 5 albums of all Times.
Both of you make a great couple, enjoying each other's company with respect and a smile. Great reaction too 🙂
Have either of y'all read the book Animal Farm? This band...This band. Emotional dealers of emotional rides. btw , great sound on your channel.

Memories & thoughts have married themselves to this song with every bar. As with all Pink Floyd songs.
In my opinion the best Floyd piece ever. Vocals, Guitar solo‘s, Key work (Unbelieveble) and Drums are not from this world!!!
Probably my favourite pink floyd album a total masterpiece of music
Hey Guys!!! I've seen MANY Reactions to this song, YOU are the FIRST to Notice the Vo-Corded use on the Dog sounds!!! Well Done!!!

Pink Floyd Sheep 1977 a must for Recommendation truly magical brilliance of electro rock by Pink Floyd check that one out too

Now try Dogs of war.. Off the Momentary lapse of reason album.. Its a very dark side of Pink Floyd you only hear once and thats in this song.
A good prog song to react to is Marillion - Ocean Cloud. King Crimson is also a great band to react to but would probably get blocked.
I would love to do Ocean Cloud, I’ll make sure that is on the list!

You guys should get a hypo-allergenic dog from a pound, or rescue organization. There is plenty of breeds out there that won't shed.
Take some Zertec and get her a damn dog.
Please Please can you add the official video of Steven Wilson's Routine to your prog shuffle Sunday list it's the best but extremely sad videos
It's in the list 👍
What is a prog song?

Allergies? Try a Portuguese Water Dog.
Nobody can tell me PF is not prog.
So many saying this is PF greatest album, that is so not right.
👆 P/T C/C 😊
