- Welcome to ‘Prog Song Sunday’, where we listen to a Progressive Rock song together and then discuss our thoughts about that particular piece of music. In each episode, you get two different perspectives- the seasoned Prog fan who has 20 years of experience listening to the genre (Nathan), and the fresh new listener who is only now discovering the world of Progressive Rock (Jana).
In this episode, we are featuring "Waterfall" by The Neal Morse Band! Please listen along with us, and continue on to our discussion to see how Jana feels about her first dedicated listen to this prog rock gem and Nathan’s background and history with this particular piece of music!

Neal Morse Band is my band thanks!
the only song i know that gives me goosebumps from start right until the end. what a gorgeous piece of music
“Just you guys sitting there” is why I’m sitting here watching. Jana, you are never a “Dope” or an “idiot” you two just keep being you. Neal Morse is cool and chill. Keep bringing the content.
Prog hugs from Brazil!
I went to NMB concert just last week and it was amazing! They played Waterfall just as you and Jana described (Innocence and Danger tour?). I love his stuff with Spocks Beard plus Testimony and Question mark albums but i distanced myself from his recent works until I had the opportunity to see NMB live during the great adventure tour a couple of years ago and it just blew my mind. His work is amazing, his band is ridiculously talented and he has such a great energy live. I understand the fanboy mode 100%!! Great that Jana can enjoy it too!
Yep, they are my favorite band and absolutely mind blowing live! Glad you got to experience it!
Happy Sunday! Nice honest reaction from both of you. Good job.👍😎
Happy Sunday to you too! 😀👍
Totally different sonically, but the lyrical theme reminds me of Close To The Edge.
While I know this was released years before, sonically this reminds me of Troika, which is my favorite album in years. What a gorgeous song.
:edit:
Ha! I posted before you mentioned Troika.
We were just listening to Troika this morning- Jana really loves it! She mentioned that ‘You Set My Soul On Fire’ is one of her all time favorite songs now 😊
Ha. Wife is sleeping though this. But I am sure she'd love it.
WTF CAN I HAVE THIS BEAT SONG ON MY CHANNEL BRUH !
Nice song! I admit to a bias against Neil due to the preachiness of his lyrics, but this was very nice. I guess I prefer my spirituality more on the mystical side, like Jon Anderson's universalism.
It has never bothered me too much, but I respect that it’s not for everyone. I do think he hasn’t leaned on it quite as much with his more recent Neal Morse Band releases, but I can understand if it is just not for you. Glad you liked this song though! I love the Jon Anderson side as well 😊
