i know yoyve probably heard this a million tomes before but i am absolutely in love with how your art style consists of messy fills and untidy line strokes on a canvas like mspa art, even all the while you still show absolutely beautiful technique, coluring, shading and what. for the rest of your rain world memes, this style makes them all the more hilarious because of how silly everything looks, but in this case it's incredibly expressive and soulful - like the hand that wills the art itself desires to express the meaning of its creation more than its limitations. and there is absolutely beauty in this kind of simplicity
I love how impulsively everything is made. Some things are one solid color, others have paint brush shading, some things just have random bits of spray brush. Its kind of beautiful really, in how human it is.
What a haunting song… so perfect for Rain World, where the slugcats are not only part of an eternally repeating cycle but are guided by a player with knowledge far beyond them. And your art is beautiful!! I especially love how you give them slightly different proportions, with a cuter Rivulet and more elegant Spearmaster!
I like to think that the “like he’d been here before” refers to the player. Since in Hunter’s campaign we already have visited Moon as Survivor, Monk or both and, therefore, really have been there before. The fact that the slugcats are presented in campaign order rather than chronological order reinforces that idea. I also like to think that the “and he knows it all” refers to everything the player has learned about the game so far since Spearmaster's campaign is the second last of the game.
you can also interpret it as a reference to the Cycle. since they never truly die until they ascend, the slugcats really could have been there before. "can do it all" refers to hunter's martial prowess. "she sees it all" rivulet has seen the effective death of an iterator, functionally a god. she has seen the death of god. also a nice nod to rivulet having unique eyes out of all the slugcats. "and he knows it all" spearmaster is, due to his very physique, a listener- a messenger. being one who carries data pearls for his iterator, it is very easy to assume our mouthless purple slugcat has a sort of knowledge above any other of his kind.

ok, I want to comment something. this video and song has been very representative(inside my mind) of me moving out from a place I loved, and having to adapt. its not the song or video itself, but the day I watched it 4 months ago and 6 days. the video is great and calming, I listened to here before for the first weeks at the new place, and it has been in beaded in my mind as change. thank you, may not mean much to you but has meant for me, that's the great thing about art. crazy how rain world is connected with so much stuff in my life since the first time I player more than one year and a half ago. this video for example I will probably always remember, is about rain world, and Rain world got me through hard times too earlier this year. the day I commented is December 26, 2023. crazy how fast time passes.
Aghh oh my lord, this is amazing! The colours and shading is so wonderful, I don't know what drawing app this is but it reminds me of ms paint, and it matches the game so well, pixelated, nothing special when it comes to quality of graphics, but still so beautiful and natural. The choice of song is great, I think it fits moon perfectly. The way you draw the characters and backgrounds is so perfect, and the compositioning is on point. Au idea! The slugcats are reincarnated in another world with similar creatures but the ancients there cared more about nature. shelters are plentiful but often you find creatures already in them. We follow spearmaster, reborn into a rivulet-like scug and then has to get used to their new speed, strength and environment.

I love how it is implied that Spearmaster, Hunter and Riv could be the same soul/conciousness reincarnated, hence why they "have been there before" and why they know it all. I know the headcannon is actually that all slugcats are the same soul reincarnated but it doesn't fit well to me; survivor and monk both coexist in the same timeline, as well as gourmand who possibly was the leader of their clan who took a trip into pebbles's superstructure maybe looking for food or new places to migrate, but since it was far more dangerous there than where they were before they migrated the other way and that's the reason there are no slugcats when survivor and monk finally make it home. Also, gourmand's and hunter's timelines must be pretty close, maybe they even coexisted, and hunter's reincarnation would be explained because even if he is corrupted by the rot and couldn't fully die and reincarnate, Gourmand finds him and kills him in their timeline. I've always found fascinating hunter and riv's willpower to just risk their lives and go to hell places to help moon and pebbles. It would be almost a miracle that they managed to do what they did; going through the entire pebbles superstructure in so little time at the doors of death to get to moon in hunter's case and wandering through the rot and sumerged superstructure and make it out alive for rivulet. Any slugcat in their common, animal senses would just turn back and look for a safer place to be, but hunter and rivulet keep pushing forward only with the wish to help. The only explanation I can give is that they both are spearmaster's reincarnation, who whas raised and loved by suns; an iterator, ripped of his animal instincts since born and given the sole purpose of helping pebbles and moon out of their terrible situation. That is why hunter and rivulet just ignore survival instincts and are so dedicated to moon and pebbles. And saint... I don't know he is just an aberration of nature. Love him though.
my headcanon is that the higher the difficulty of the campaign, the more intelligence the slugcat has (saint being the most intelligent, spear and ruffles being similar but not quite as intelligent, monk & surv being less smart). I think in terms of lore the knowledge of the landscape and iterators is just passed down between slugcat tribes n stuff to atone for the fact that we know it all, that we've been there before.
