Yeah, even in the wild sickly/weaker animals tend to get left behind for the sake of the rest of the colony/herd's survival so it might not be too far off
Idea: If you head to the farm arrays to complete the “new beginning” quest without having the required karma, You get a bad ending where you infect the poor slugpup, and possibly a whole tribe.

I would 100% have fun playing this if it were a campaign, the idea of infecting other creatures to follow you around sounds like free food that travels with you

The overall idea is super unique and i really like Contagious. But i feel like the death penalty is a bit too severe. Even so I would absolutely give that scug a go. Sounds too interesting to pass up. New rainworld gameplay will always be cool. If you have more concepts I can’t wait to hear them! You have some interesting ideas.
If you mean death by starvation, I think this will allow the player to feel the character better

when you die karma is not taken away forever
without deaths and full food points, you will have 5 karma displayed
if youfull food points after one death, you will have 4 karma displayed
and in order to be able to have 5 karma again while awake, you need to sleep with eaten karma flower

This is actually so good! The story and timeline are interesting, you made a good choice putting the campaign between Saint and Rivulet! Also, I want to mention that the crimson lizard and the tunnel immitator monster are very original, and that they could be in the ecosystem, like it actually would make sense; also I love the fact that the food pipes increase with the karma as a change of difficulty in the campaign and making it even more interesting.

Thanks for mentioning karma. At the beginning the game becomes more difficult due to the fact that you need more food to sleep, but later it becomes easier after waking up due to the food supply
Contagious' infectious bite is like an animal infected with rabies or the infectious saliva of a Komodo dragon in which the bitten prey becomes infected and slowly weakens such the prey can eventually become a meal. :)
More close to rabies because he ill himself too and have symptoms
A character I would unfortunately never play even if it was made into a fully functional campaign.
But hey! Despite that, it's a very cool concept that I'm sure many would adore. It's also a rather unique scug!

I am amazed at how close you followed the artistic look of cannon Rainworld art while still making it have your art style threaded into it! The plot is the type of intriguing mysterious story that lines up with the other scugs and the mechanics (!!!)

I think the main thing here is to choose the right time when to spend a food point
so that the passage will be balanced
because, for example, the hunter mechanics with a limit on the number of cycles and permanent death also sound difficult to complete
@@Omnimonia That's definitely what I was thinking. The reason why I was a little worried about its harshness is the miros bird area. I forgot what it's called but there's like no food there.
As I remember in end of it for some slugcats (monk if i remember right but not sure) scolopendras spawn

This is a great idea, I can tell there was a lot of time put into this especially with the art made for it, but I do think this will probably end up changing Saint's story a bit.
I feel like the creatures that Contagious bites into, they'll act as spare food and extra protection to other threats, but i feel like if one of the creatures escape and turn anyway, they might bite into other threats and the cycle repeats.
I don't know, i think Saint would've had to deal with an apocalypse instead but that's just me.
But even if it doesn't or does cause anything to change for Saint, i think this idea would fit really well
I think animals could learn to avoid individuals with signs of disease and by the time Saint appeared, infected animals would simply die out

I think the reason people choose that spot is because it's the largest gap in time between characters
Besides, most other parts in the timeline besides before spearmaster are near completely filled in

Make one yourself if you want one not between rivulet and saint, no need to comment like this on other people's fanmade slugcats, it's their characters and if you dont like seeing noncanon ocs inbetween rivulet and saint, just don't watch about or read about them, easy. It's rude and unnecessary to so bluntly tell someone you dont like where they're character places in the timeline, and for no reason too.

This is such a good idea but i was quite conflicted with new beginnings ending considering the farm arrays gate already collapsed during rivulet timeline, perhaps there's another way for the contagious went through there despite the circumstances? Nevertheless this is a great concept

like
if no have full karma the slug will kill the lizard and bite the pup for extra food because is almost not controling the infection
or dont have the lizard for the slug have something to kill and eat and kill the slugpup for food

@@Omnimonia i'd think this character would be very hard to mod in... to make it viable, youd have to make atleast one enemy in each area infectable but lizards and scavs are the only animals with friendly ai. Making a mother nootfly your personal support chinok would be fun, but not easy to code in

Interesting idea, bad execution. I think making the ability to control other creatures should be more difficult and scale with size. Also probably shouldn’t be able to control vultures, rot or red creatures
it's not really control, you can't give orders to creatures
it's more of an advanced taming that can't be reset even if you don't feed the creatures
I agree, Vultures/king vultures, the lil snappy motherfuckers with serrated Scissors for Mouths and Leviathans should be off the menu
However, i think Red Creatures could be fun since theyre VERY dangerous, and since you need to stick close to them as the infection takes hold, youre risking getting your ass chomped in half for only 2 Cycles worth of taming them

Outbreak-
You have to reach the same location as the new beginning ending but not have max karma or full hunger pips.
The ending showing Contagious in a rabid state trying to attack anything that moves with Saint in the background seconds away from putting him out of his misery.
Ending text:
You have succumbed to your infection and now wander in a rabid state desperately hoping something can put you out of your misery.
Im afraid Saint mote later in timeline
@@Omnimonia I like to imagine saint was kil- I mean ascending random iterators in the meantime. Considering he’s possibly immortal it makes a bit of sense. Looking at the dormant iterator towers in the background in the opening part of his campaign…Well he’s certainly been busy…

This is very cool, but if I would change something, it would be the complexity of the design and food. Thinking of the timeline, as you see each successive slugcat, they’re more herbivorous. Slugcat designs also mostly have a base colour and all other colours aren’t inside of their body, if that makes sense. think of arti’s scar, Rivulet’s gills, Spearmaster’s spots. They’re small and outside of their body.
in my opinion, the character still fits into the concept of "primary color, eyes, additional"
just an additional color bigger than usual
besides, if the color of the fur and body are the same, it will not be so obvious that it does not cover the entire body
@@OmnimoniaGood point, I can imagine the fur on part of the sprite. I was wrong to say that it doesn’t fit the rest of the slugcat designs, because it does, but I will stand by the design being a little bit too complex. There’s overall too many colours within the fur and eyes. I’m not saying remove the bright eyes, but there needs to be something to really bring your attention to. I think the slugpup design works better, it has the coloured spot of fur and it’s body is a rather vibrant red.

yes the model in the game should definitely have a simpler design than the drawings
here the character demonstration is rather closer to fan art, which complicates the design of the original characters simply for the sake of a more pleasant aesthetic appearance

@@Omnimonia ya I have the same issue with that one aswell , slugcats with hunger or timer gimmicks tend to be too hard or complicated in my eyes , there’s a reason hunter was a one time thing
By seeing people kill ton of animal in their way in some vids I'm sure hunger will not be big problem if chose how fast hunger come correctly

I agree with the commentators about originality of this campaign and also would like to mention your beatiful art, but it feels like the "new beginning" ending isn't really an ending. It's really sad that you, as a player, can't play further with your new (adorable) companion. Besides that, the story (in this ending) feels unfinished (yes, i understand that this IS new beginning, but still). Some of other campaigns, like rivulet, also had unfinished story, but almost all of them really had a journey's end point, so ending point in Farm Arrays fells kinda abrupt and unintuitive. For example, five pebbsi give you advise where to seek for ascent and what are you seeking, but while watching i dont really understood how you should come up in farm arrays, so i guess you should wander around at karma 10 until you occasionly come to ending point. Again, i respect your work and loved this new concept; if it were a real mod i definitely would play that, but i just wanted to tell my opinion. Thank you and good luck!

I think this can be fixed if Moon mentions in her dialogue that her overseer saw other slugcats in the area of the farm array recently
And due to the fact that he lost his previous tribe, this could be the beginning of life in a new society if they catch up with this slugpup's tribe
