Wow! I'm so glad this channel popped up on my feed last week. I immediately subscribed after watching the first video on this awesome truck and couldn't believe you didn't have at least 200k subscribers. My dad bought a brand new Toyota pickup manual with the 22re in 1992 and sold it 10 years later with 500k miles on it and it was still running strong. Ever since then I've been obsessed with these trucks. Especially pre 1995 models. Can't wait to see you blow up with this channel. It won't take long given the quality of these videos.
I hear ya bro. I have kept my 1992 with 22RE/5spd/2wd/a-c/ very simple and awesome pickup bought new. I have just lavished it with a whole front-end replacement kit..the first ever in 32 years. And this thing has over 600K. It is unbelievable that it starts up RIGHT NOW every single time. I want to be buried in my 92 Toy!

Too bad the government decided that we had to buy BIG $ trucks loaded down with useless crap, computers and extra turbo. If automakers could legally sell a brand new 2wd 4 cylinder manual small pickup or sedan, they would sell as many as they could make.
The regular compact size is just enough. With 4 cylinder or V6. No V8s. Because gas price now a days is so high. And so many limited parking spaces for big cars and trucks.
This Is Cool ! Great To See A Very Capable Young Man With His Abilities To Problem Solve And Fix This Truck ! Looking Forward To Next Video On This Truck When You Finish Tweaking It Out ! 👍👍👍💯💯💯
I owned a 73 Toyota truck with a 7 ft. camper on the back. In 1975 I drove from Edmonton, Canada, south through Salt Lake City, Reno to San Diego, walked across the border into Mexico for a few hours. Then drove up the coastal road home. Quite a trip.
Actually a great channel. Good structure to the videos and consistent uploads. As long as you keep consistently putting up the content you like, this is gonna blow up like crazy. Great work.
Love this video and these old trucks. I used to have an ‘85 diesel Toyota pickup. Wish I would have never sold it. I agree with the many other comments. Your channel is going to blow-up huge soon! Keep up the great work.
Great work as always! You are very resourceful - not just spending money on new parts, this is the way it should be! Keep us the great work, about 1000 more subscribers since last time!
we called the auto trans a slush bucket and they did rob power even when they were new , but the stander trans may need a little help too ... your doing good work
Thanks for this video, You also found out that you also had to modify. I had the Manual odd transmission that I have to remove to sldo install a five speed transmission. Im still in the planning stage, this placed me ahead a bit prior to seeing this. Mine is a 1974.
From one Nicholas to another, keep doing the work you do -- I've loved this series so far. As far as seat swaps go, I did some quick forum research and it seems like a '90 4Runner's might be a bolt in for the 80s Hilux, unsure on the '73. Otherwise seems like you're not afraid for a little custom work so maybe looking at smaller Japanese cars from the 80s/90s/00's or a Cavalier seat swap. I know the Cavy swap was doable on S10s
Love this build. You have skills 👍. Have owned a 1977 FJ40 Landcruiser and currently own a 1992 1-HZ Diesel swapped 80 series. Really love the simplicity and reliability of these older Toyota trucks
I have a 1995 Toyota 2wd 5 speed. I took the bench seat out to hopefully get re done and used Mazda RX 8 seats. $60 each at the junkyard. Maybe some Sion seats or matrix. Junkyard hunt
🤘🏼 The 90-95 4runner 89-95 pickup seats are always a great swap into older trucks. Not sure how well they will align with the factory mounting holes in that era.
Ok. I restored a different year. It was a 76’. This generation was made between 75’ and 78’. It had a few improvements. As the manual said, it had more cabin room for “ oversized American drivers”. I am 6 feet tall, and it was difficult for me to fit in there, so I can only imagine in a 74’. It came with a 20R, hemi head engine. The 76’ was the first year for front disk brakes. That being said, I drove it home from the auto delivery service, and the front end suspension and other parts were shot. Also the exhaust manifold was cracked, like I think the one in this video. ( yeah, I think it got me high on exhaust fumes on the way home. ) Had it welded. Pulled engine, and replaced all seals and fluids. Did some body work, and had it painted. Replaced all tune up parts, and minor stuff like alternator, water pump, etc. This was in 2008, so a lot of parts were being obsoleted, and were cheap. I would be glad to share some pics, but I can’t figure out how to do that here.

A Durango second or third row could work. Second row has tilt but third row has super thin padding and isn't as wide.. Depends on interior cab width and what will fit.
Best thing you could have done was to manual swap especially a five speed gear box my Hilux is a manual and l love it maybe an engine swap would be a 22R motor
Why do you Ned to swap out the automatic transmission with a manual transmission? You can have the automatic trnsmission rebuilt in less than two weeks at you local transmission shop specializing in Toyota transmission. You probably need to have you speedometer and odometer cables replaced and the odometer teeth gear replaced as well. PLUS...... PLEASE UPGRADE TO THREE POINT RETRACTABLE REEL SAFETY BELTS!!!!! Lastly....... Would you consider doing an LS1 engine swap upgrade?
I swapped because I want to use the truck and the automatics rob so much power and have fewer gear options that it takes away from the capabilities, plus the manual I put in it can be used for quite a few engine swaps and will hold the power of a newer engine. and I actually already got the speedo working, the cable was just not connected I should for sure find some shoulder belts, as the lap belts are not very confidence inspiring. I've thought about a v8 but think id want to keep it pure to Toyota and do either a newer 4cyl or a Toyota v8.

What would you put in it?
Yeah i did it TOYOTA the tran is woran out because i run it all night at 85 MPH SORRY ABOUT THAT MY BAD HAHAHA 😆 😂 😅 🙃 😜 😬 😆
Seatbelts might be good… 😅
This was built before safety was invented
On the list for sure!
You still haven't washed the back window
It’s not washable, it’s plexiglas that’s sun faded very bad, and it needs replaced. Glass is almost impossible to find though
What’s up with your rear glass! It annoys me
It’s plexiglass that’s about 20 years old
You need a bench seat so your lady can scooch up next to you
Oh your not old enough but old Toyotas automatic transmission have to start in 1 then when you get to 30 then you go to 2
The big issue was it forcing the down shift from 3-2 at speeds and jerking the truck heavily
