You probably will need to swap the fuel pump to a lower pressure one meant for carbs. The original tbi fuel pumps run at a higher pressure and will overwelm the needle and seat in the carb and cause it to run super rich. Trucks looking good, keep up the good work.

Hey, I don't know if someone already commented, but I wanted to let you know what that side trim is for. It's so people wouldn't damage the truck if they bumped your car with their door in a parking lot or something. It bulges out just far enough to take any and all bumps of that sort. It's not really necessary to have on, but it's a cool little feature of the 80s and 90s.

Truck came out fairly nice and will be a good one when you get it sorted. I had one for a work truck when they were fairly new. Solid little trucks and you can abuse them like that one was, but if you do the maintenance on them they'll come right along.

I think it's the perfect sized truck, since it's a medium sized truck the long bed just makes it look right.

I would've loved to see a more appropriate rejuvenation, as in new carpet and maybe reupholstering the seats, restoring the dash, etc. But I love seeing older vehicles being brought back. just for information's sake, that trim piece you took off on the sides were referred to as "door bumpers" (not an official term), but they were there so if people opened their doors to fast or weren't paying attention, they would hit the rubber/plastic pad instead of the metal on the door, saving you some small dents and scratches over the years.

its a really great find. make sure the throttle cable is fully extending normally you can adjust it by a nut on the bracket its attached to.. just disconnect it and start it and see if it idles lower if so adjust the cable. Its going to need a lot of work but its straight and not very rusty.. I strongly suggest you don't get into the bed liner deal. Its horrible to get off if you want to paint it eventually and it can let rust grow. I would just never use it. Also if there is rust on the brake lines just replace them.. they are prone to bad corrosion and you don't want to risk it. Flush the brakes until they run clean. Hope you can get some decent MPG out of it thats what they're really about just enough power to get it done but also you can drive them pretty cheap.

@17:10 IMO isn't the biggest rust worry. The under-battery area and the radiator support on the passenger side behind the bumper is where this truck could use the most TLC. That can be a PITA to deal with but also it's what would give it the most years of useful life back.

Probably need to adjust the idle set screw on the carb if you are having a high idle.

I swapped a Weber into mine. Had to also throw in a 720 distributor. Also, delete every vacuum line if possible. They leak like crazy when they get old.
