A bit interesting seeing this on the TV in the morning, but neat to see your take on this fiasco; the angle of how parental monitoring used to be, and the touch on the site culture and smaller communities, are really fresh
(Also did if you intended to wear a shirt covered in "PP" for this topic, well fucking played)

Thanks for watching Kiko! It’s a tricky subject for me, and I might be too close to the sauce here, but while I don’t want Twitch to turn away from a hobby and communications centric platform, I can also get why they use these metas to try and springboard into a career.
It sucks out here, and who wouldn’t want to be self made?
Appreciate the love fren, and I hope the video went well with the morning Cheerios :)

The problem I have with it, is why were people actively wanting this on a site with children 13 year old children that can just click button to say they are 18+. How is that podophilic behavior to want to be nude to young audiences?
Could there be a place on Twitch for that? Yes. Should be mandatory that you need a proper age verification like a DL or something to ensure the people viewing this are 18+ to the best of Twitch's ability? Yes. There are so many other sites for porn that Twitch doesn't need this to be in the foreground. In the background if people want to change the stigma from other cam sites, why not? It would basically be the nudey room from the time of the video stores.

I agree entirely. I was actually really surprised that the policy change even stipulated that “Individuals under age are precluded from any sort of nude (implied or otherwise) depictions period”
Like, were people doing this? Surely so, right? It’s a bad situation for performers and watchers alike to foster a sex oriented content mill, when literal children are at the core of it. I suspect they understand that, but are so lazy and hands off, that Twitch always comes off hypocritical and favoritistic…when in reality they might just be dangerously incompetent.
Thank you for taking the time to comment though friend! Hope the new year is treating you well thus far!

@@arkyUS_YT _Every_ onlline platform has to deal with p-do shit... it's one of the core purposes of Trust and Safety (and one of the ways that Twitter immediately went to shit when Elon took over and fired that team). So no, it's not especially worrisome that Twitch in particular called it out.
"can just click button to say they are 18+" this is literally every website, so ... I'm not sure how this is specifically Twitch's problem? (I mean, I don't care about Twitch, I've watched a grand total of one stream there, which was a bootleg of a musical stage performance. But trying to get individual organizations to solve massive society-wide systematic problems only ever goes badly. Systematic problems need systematic solutions.)
The reason age verification is not widespread is because it's a horrorshow of privacy issues that no one proposing verification ever bothers to try to address. (It's also been mostly consistently ruled to be unconstitutional in the US. Fifth circuit excepted.) Techdirt has good coverage of this and many community safety and civil society issues.

Gander here that’s why I’ve disappeared from streaming games I played was not interesting and no body watched so I gave up on the system. Will I get back into it maybe needs to be some drastic changes

      Hey Gander!
I can totally get how streaming is demoralizing and can feel so at odds with ever coming to fruition. It takes buckets of work, consideration, networking, and above all else…EXTREME amounts of luck.
I hope Twitch refines things one day that being on their platform and being consistent is enough to garner viewership and an audience. As it stands, without branching out, or 24/7 making stream friend…it’s just not possible.
Thanks for the love buddy! Hope new year is good for you! :)

I don't go on twitch mostly for the same reasons. I'm never going to make it on twitch because I'm not a pretty girl, or the one or two guys who got lucky and caught lightning in a bottle. I don't play Fortnite. I get a TON more interaction when I stream here on YT. It sucks, but that's what it is. I could stream a game I'm really good at, or that is really fun, and have great commentary and interaction with my viewers and get like 10 views. If I put my wife on there, and she's playing a game badly, and just being a pretty girl, she would get so many more views than me. That's just the truth.
Also, agreed about the kids thing man. I have a 2 and a 4, and I dread the day they are old enough to want a smart phone. Kill me now, please.

Twitch is a 13+ age rated website. While I think the human form is art in itself, most will see the naked body and it's instintly transformed into a sexualized experience. This can be due to a mulititude of reasons, maturity, hormones, the United States treating nudity like it's from Satan themselves. You can imply nudity with the "hot tub" streams and the women in bikinis on there. Are those ending? Actual sexual themes have a place, and Twitch isn't it. If my kid was under 16, I wouldn't want them on Twitch for the inuendo that is implied in just about every stream I've been in. If Twitch wants in on the sex gsme, then you're right, start an adults website and make it so you have to verify your age to be on there. Leave Twitch for gaming/chatting content, but parents should be aware that adult language does, and will be said there, and leave the sex game to those other sites that are super easy to find and browse regardless of your true age.
