It is real simple.
She has a mental connection with an alien. This alien, by the use of GPS, was able to hone in on what Johnathan was looking at. Now, during the shuffling, the alien was able to quickly switch the deck of cards to a deck that only had 8s of diamonds. So all she had to do was say stop, flip the card over, and amaze everyone.
Now, what is so difficult about that?
She was awesome! More female magicians please 😊

theawecabinet, as someone trying hard to be a feminist ally, I actually agree, and I think most feminists will too.
You know what, there probably were some before this show, even.
Here's how I think the trick is done. The deck consists of two halves that contain exactly the same cards but in different order.
The order of one half is memorized by Jen.
She gave the other half to Jonathan and asked him to shuffle and choose a card.
Then she put the cards back and controlled the shuffle so that her cards remained on top in the same order that she memorized.
Once she knew the name of the card, all she had to do was count to that card.
Great trick Jen!
But Jonathan choose the pile?

I love female magicians, there aren't enough of them.
when you want a smooth and talented card magician and that of quick change you think of Jen Kramer that is one of the best ones that I have seen of Lady Magicians and yes there should be more Female illusionists and that of Jen Kramer she does have that perfect class in the area of magic .
Being a reviewer that I had went to see her performance that was one of the best performances that was ever performed that she added comedy and slight of hand and large full scale entry illusions that was set in a large theater that had a bar to the back area . That when the performance had started it was like Jen had turned the audience into the most amazing crowd that she had them laughing and getting into the show when you have a lady like Jen Kramer you will have a fantastic time .
Approach #1: have someone watch cards from bottom up or top down and tell her to stop at the right card over a hidden earphone.
Approach #2: replace her half deck with a duplicate half deck that she memorizes the order of, and put it on top of the MC's half deck.
Really nice act.

How it works:
- The pack of cards she gave Jonathan to shuffle has the exact same cards as the pack she shuffled. Instead of that deck having 52 unique cards, there were 26 duplicates.
- When she was showing Jonathan how to spread the cards, she was memorizing her pack. That was really the impressive part.
- The "shuffle" that Penn brought into question was after Jonathan gave his pack back. The "shuffle" simply ensured her pack was on top of the deck.
- When she had Jonathan say his card, she thought for a second (a noticeable pause) to recall where in her pack that card was.
- Finally, Jonathan starts dealing from the top of her memorized pack of cards. She says stop when the correct number of cards is dealt.
Why wouldn't she memorize her pack before the show,
instead of in 7 seconds? (which not even the greatest memory champions can do...
there's a world championship deck memorization...and they don't do it in 30 seconds).
+Brainbuster because there were 2 halfs, and Jonathan could've chosen either one.
+Trevor Holland Not even close.. freeze frame when she shows her cards at 2:54 and when Jonathan show his at 2:59 and notice there aren't any doubles. Instead go to 6:42 and use the Google :)

These are really the best kinds of magic performances. It's funny and it completely fools most people. But even when you do understand how it's done it's a very impressive and hard to pull off trick. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who wouldn't like this performance

If you listen to Penn's remarks, he hints at a false shuffle. Still, it fooled me.

I believe there is a butterfly shuffle or fake shuffle but it's still impressive to know where 8 was as he dealt them because it wasn't pulled from the deck to be put back after a 180 degree turn to feel the card from a gag deck where one corner is thinner and once it's rotated you just thumb through the deck until you feel the firm edge resist bending to show that it's the card.

I know I may get raked over the coals by some p.c. people out there for saying this, but I'm just going to put it out there - Jen Kramer is drop dead gorgeous. And yes, I'm also extremely attracted to her intelligence and personality as well. Intelligence is very sexy - I could never go out with a dummy, but the looks are definitely a perk. Unfortunately, in today's day and age I feel I have to add a disclaimer like that because men are frequently castigated as being shallow nowadays for commenting on a woman's looks.
