    last night, an illusionist, magician, musician, and hypnotist came to my college to perform. The magician did this trick (except used a floating table and letters, hard to explain you had to be there) with the same "I'm here" thing. Same boards. A few months ago, illusionist and magician Mike Super came to visit and did this trick but better. Instead of I'm here, it said the name the girl was thinking about and the number the boy added on his phone randomly. How he did that one, I don't know but it was amazing! The "I'm here" stuff wasn't so amazing but Joel Meyers still put on a fantastic show and kept us entertained.

    I have often questioned why the volunteers are "mic'd up" prior, or are the performer's microphones just that good? 😉 With that being said, Penn & Teller are fantastic! These guys are LEGENDS, and will FOREVER be known as that. I hope that all up and coming magicians will continue to learn from them for years to come!

      it's not live tv... they mic them after being chosen, and leave that out of the edit - and by the way in fool us preshow, instant stooges and secret accomplices are forbidden (preshow = plant a collaborator), instant stooge (pick a random spectator but tell him to lie and be in), secret accomplice (under the table or the scenary, you get the idea)

    what i loved about this trick is pure mentalism-invisible touch old school but the way you performed it was great... set the atmostphere right great story-teling...nd the chalk nd the board gave it a great finish with spooky effect..... but i dont think you went their to fool them... i mean any good magicians who reads books would know this effect... nd penn and teller are definately better than just good

    He seems a little frustrated that she didn’t respond in the affirmative when he asked her if she’d experienced anything unusual about the boards, like feeling hot or cold. I think after the “touch” thing, he was hoping she’d be susceptible enough to his suggestion of feeling hot or cold to fool herself and answer “Yes, the boards WERE momentarily cold!” or something, lending a little extra oomph to his trick. The power of suggestion!

    • @danopticon
      @danopticon 5 років тому

      Oh, sorry, I should’ve said “YOU seemed a little frustrated,” it’s actually your channel this is posted to, after all. Nice act! 🙂 I’d be curious how often your volunteer answers “Yes!” to the “feelings of hot or cold” question after your reveal of the touch sensation, but before your reveal of the marks on the slates. It seems like they should answer in the affirmative pretty often! 🐇🎩

    • @CellRus
      @CellRus 8 років тому +1

      It's simply a psychological effect! When you are in a middle of something very exciting and mysterious (the act of closing your eyes make you feel even more mysterious), the burst of adrenaline make you very excited, and thus burst out a smile more frequently. It is very common and you can experience it quite often (for example, your friend told you to close ur eyes and follow them because they have a surprise for you, its hard to keep a close mouth during that time, isnt it?). So the fact that she smiled here totally was a coincidence when he tapped the guy.

      real magic should not be equated with demons. this is not Disney and you are not Aladdin

      Peter Boie HAHAHA! As a matter of fact, I just got off the phone with them. If you fly yourself out there, find and pay for a venue, as well as your lodging, meals, and any other incurred expenses, they said they'd love to have you! Have fun!
