I really hate these 10 minute tv shows that discuss big topics in way too short of a time. Especially when you barely have time to debunk all the lies defending the status quo. I want a 2 hour conversation on tv including Ed, that farmers union goofball president, then add a couple of experts that can confirm or deny various claims.
That's the problem, one can shoot out 100 lies in 2 minutes but it's harder and it takes a lot more time to dispel them. Dishonest, callous and delusional people have the advantage in that arena. Though it also occurs in longer debates.
@Ryan Robinett Fair play man, It's awesome you're feeding your dog without having to put other animals through hell. Hopefully I can do something like this in the future. Of course you will get people calling you out when you say you're a vegetarian and not a Vegan though. You sound pretty Vegan to me. Vegan is a moral stance which you seem to be adhering to excellently. Obviously you can call yourself what you want, but if you imply that you're not a Vegan you're always gonna have people coming after you lol.
Look up how many animals and lifeforms are killed to produce 5 kgs of wheat. Where do you draw the line on when or what is OK to kill and not kill. One cow living a wonderful life on a pasture can provide food for many souls. The death surrounding large scale agricultural crops is staggering, but no one cares about that.
@@lightoftruth8672 You forget that farmed animals need to eat too as they grow large enough to be slaughtered. It takes many kilograms of plant matter to produce 1 kilogram of flesh. Eating animals kills more animals through plant agriculture than eating plants does.
Him admitting that it is horrific needs to be clipped and used on repeat with graphics showing his credentials over footage from UK farms and slaughterhouses.
@@6foot8jesuspilledpureblood82 Ed made videos with animal abuse clips. You can made those videos too. Stop being so negative and fatalistic. Your name has Jesus in it, but Jesus was a positive person.
That farmer should probably be criminally charged with fraud, deceptive marketing practices, and false advertising. Lying to trick someone into buying your product is often illegal.
Especially if they charge higher prices for the supposed "grass fed, free range, or no additives like hormones", etc. Even if someone is a meat eater, why would they want to be lied to, scammed, and be ok with animal abuse?
I became Vegan the day I watched the Game changers, precisely because I was made aware of the lies the meat and dairy industry have fed us for decades - I gain no health benefit from consuming meat. Then I started to understand better the ecological impact of animal farming. And more recently, in part thanks to your debates, the moral imperative we have. Hearing this guy rapid fire lies through his teeth was frustrating, and I'm glad you've had practice debating people who spout nonsense.
@Il Cavalluccio Marino B12 is a bacteria that is naturally found in soil, but with commercial farming and the heavy, routine use of pesticides and others of the sort, any and all b12 in the soil is killed. Cows and other grass-feeding animals that are bred to be killed can get b12 from grazing since it is found in the soil they are ingesting. (But as mentioned above, heavy pesticides kill the b12 in soil.) In farming, the majority of animals are fed soy or corn food pellets in dark, crowded, enclosed spaces with cement floors and no grass to be found. We used to get it the same way as we walked around barefoot picking up fruits and veggies from the ground, absorbing it through our skin and not washing what we ate so we could get it that way as well. The B-12 myth has been busted . Stop thinking that animals products are the only source.
@Il Cavalluccio Marino I think everyone knows by now that you need to supplement with B12 when you are vegan. Yet not many people know you need to supplement with B12 whatever your diet is after the age of 50.

Makes me mad when the assumption is that a vegan diet has to be 100% balanced all the time. Do we really believe that every omnivore is eating a perfectly balanced diet and never needs any advice?? If so why are there campaigns like 5-a-day and an nhs website telling folk how to cut down on sugar?!! 🤦🏼♀️
Why do they never want to show what goes on INSIDE the walls of their humane and dreamy slaughterhouses and farms???? Why don't they have walls of glass so that everyone can see???? Why is filming inside not allowed???? I think we all know the reason. Ed, your elegance and knowledge is out of this world, you're changing the world. Thank you for everything you do.
I was having a debate with someone online once. It went on and on - he had a response for everything. He then finally claimed the farm he worked on wasn't like that. I said to post a photo if that was the case. His response was that he wouldn't, but only because he didn't want his farm identified. I pointed out that would be impossible - just send a photo of the animals, if they had such a great existence. Never heard another word from him. This was a person who'd debated (illogically) until he was blue in the face, but when given the opportunity to 'prove' how great the standards were on his farm, went awol.
@@navadel1 very typical haha. I have received many comments like that; furious, angry people just writing essays about how most of the cattle grows in these idilliac pastures, how they are painlessly killed with one shotgun bullet in their brain so that they feel nothing, and how the ag industry is actually saving the environment and how all the crops are grown for vegans and veganism is destroying the eco system. Absolute bonkers.
@@GG-vq6ro yeah, and lots of them develop very aggressive and sadistic behaviors. There's just so many horrible problems with the animal industry, I can't believe I used to consume their products. So glad I went vegan, best choice of my life.
I wish something like this had been said to me before I was vegan whenever I went to the "not all slaughterhouses" argument. Okay then, no worries, all of the footage available from slaughterhouses is conveniently from the bad ones. Link me to the footage of the nice ones. Link me to the footage of the humane ones. What are the odds that investigators are getting so "lucky" to capture horrific and upsetting footage. Or if they're not releasing everything they capture then surely the industry should set the record straight by doing it themselves.
I watched the documentary Dominion over three years ago now. We all knew that meat came from animals who were killed, but actually witnessing it and learning how so many aspects of the industry are not public knowledge and actually very hidden away, was pretty mind blowing. And until recently, one would have to dig pretty deep to find out this much out in such graphic detail. The activists risking their freedoms for potential jail time/heavy fines, to get all the footage from the last few years is admirable. I do street outreach with clips from this very documentary and I see the power it has on people, the emotion is real out there, people just need to see the truth to make a more informed decision about their lifestyle choices. When the end credits rolled, I went vegan on the spot and never looked back. The best decision I have made that aligns perfectly with my animal loving values.
You're the bossman Ed. You're one of the best and most elegant debaters in the world. You're extremely knowledgeable and armed with facts/evidence. Not only that, you're amazing at sharing that knowledge and educating others. Keep up the amazing work buddy, and keep speaking up for animals!
Humans are animals too don't forget. And a lot of animal brains on here unfortunately do not understand how they are duped by this crazy NWO push toward veganism. I used to be a hardcore "vegetarian" myself. It's almost impossible to avoid meat, and for a good reason. If you have to take artificial supplements for B12 and D3 for example that should tell you right there you are not eating your natural diet. The animals do not need to suffer needlessly, and nobody is saying that. If you were being chased by a theoretical raptor who just wanted to eat you to survive, that might change your perspective a bit as to the harsh nature of reality that as a being of gross physical matter you are always having to consume something else to survive. Do you think plants like to be eaten too? No they don't, that's why they lace themselves with tannins and other toxins so the animals don't destroy them. You are buying right into NWO agenda with all the talk of climate control and the poor animals. What about the humans animals, think of those too.
I don't think he does at heart. There are marketing people on staff that advised him to make those talking points on television based on how it will influence consumers.
He is straight up lying about the practices but people like that genuinely do believe that what they are doing is right. I am a vet student so have to work with a lot of farmers and they do genuinely think they give the animals a good life and that we simply need meat. One farmer even told me they are doing the animals a favour because by slaughtering them when they are young, they prevent them having to deteriorate and suffer when they get ill from old age. This is of course complete rubbish because they literally kill the animals before puberty age when they would still have many happy years before them. What I'm trying to say is, these people in the industry have been brought up with that mindset and are very unlikely to change. We have to target the public and aim to reduce consumer demand for meat and animal products I think. Very sad being forced to work in that environment as a vet student but one day I hope to be a sanctuary vet and use my skills for the good of animals💖💖
It's surprising how much someone can lie to oneself if the truth would result in the realization that you are doing something that is wrong. Everyone wants to believe they are a good, moral person. I can imagine someone raised to be a farmer and doing it for years having a huge mental resistance to the idea that what he is doing could be wrong. Otherwise, the realization would be quite devastating. I think that is one of the main barriers of entry for veganism. People just don't want to think that they and the people they love and admire may be doing something cruel and unnecesary and have been happily doing so for years. I don't think people should beat themselves over it, just understand it and move on, preferably going on the road of becoming vegan or at least reduce consumption if they can't cut it fully. But it's just a very human reaction that we can expect to happen often.
Veganism isn't a silver bullet. But if there was ever such a thing to reduce suffering and help humans and animal well-being, going vegan is the closest to a silver bullet as we'll ever get. ❤️
true. i think the base of many world problems is from the continuing mistake of herding culture which actually is capitalism itself from its inception. if this mentality of destruction, greed, and oppression could be eradicated, it would help win freedom and safety for many living beings trapped within those systems’ apparatuses, which is basically all of us, some more than others. the many ills it creates in the world could have a chance to clear up and balance could be restored
NEVER STAY SILENT. As an advocate for animals, I keep putting the images of what's happening to animals on social media every day. I make informational signs and take them to busy intersections at rush hour. I use TikTok not just to post videos exposing what's happening to animals but I use the LIVE feature just about ever day to spread awareness. The more consumers are confronted with reality, the more chance they go vegan or at least start heading in this direction. I again and again and again inform people of the health benefits and the environmental benefits of going vegan too.
Keep it up! ❤ I'm trying to do more like this. Right now, people see ridiculous meat industry propaganda more often than reality, and that's why they believe it. The industry has so much money, so we need to work hard!

Also in the dirty tricks they often have to fall back on when dealing with a prepared vegan debater on live TV. Great job as always Ed.
Honestly the debate gave me a bit of a headache. Martin didn't take time to adress your points separately, instead going through an insane gish gallup, overloading the audience with a load of incorrect information in hope something sticks. I felt like he was trying to be confusing on purpose and to make you unable to respond to everything in such a short window of time. That plus the lying makes me think he came to this debate with the intent of being a dishonest actor. Great video, keep up with the good work!

You must be constantly thinking of how best to respond to these without coming across in the wrong way, such a difficult line to tread.
When I used to eat meat I was lacking in several minerals and vitamins causing restless legs. They wanted to cauterize my veins to fix a 20 year problem. When I changed to a whole foods plant based diet lifestyle I said goodbye to the pills and restless legs and 6 years later still going.... All the doctors, time, and money wasted when all I needed was proper nutrition?

Ed, your calm ‘informed’ style is reasoned and scholarly. It is inspiring and will be an ‘ace’ in the collective hand of vegans. That takes considerable work. As an academic, I do appreciate this and the essentiality of keeping your facts straight. Thank you for that. This letter was timely as within days I participated in a university retreat of university emeritus professors at my Canadian university. Of course, our collective goal as vegans is to make an impact. Let’s see how long it takes for the ball to be picked up by the climate change cohort. Upward and onward. Professor Emeritus-Elizabeth
His environmental arguements are utterly nonsensical. It's 21st century and yet stating that raising cattles for food is a good thing is still a thing...
The main problem with these TV debates, apart from the ignorance or outright moral corruption of the opponent debaters, is that these journalists are not doing their job. It is actually quite ironic to watch the background Martin choose to put, in a conversation he's tested for transparency and reliability. I was almost waiting for him to say : "If you look behind me, you can see how everything's perfect and nothing's wrong".
I love how you always address health and environmental issues/questions without losing sight of what veganism is truly about. You always go back to the ethics, and I find that so so great.

hi, i just want to thank you ed for your honesty, compassion and knowledge on what i believe to be the way forward for the future of the human race. kind regards.
It’s a pretty funny contention, to say that people don’t have time to figure out how to eat a balanced, plant based diet. Of course, it is ridiculously easy to figure out, as Ed said. But, also, it would probably help if our governments weren’t so entrenched in supporting animal agriculture at all costs. An example of this, in the U.S., is the “food pyramid” that our government has been advocating for decades. It isn’t based on science, and certainly not on what is truly a healthy way to eat. It is, instead, based on what the government representatives are pressured to do by lobbyists for animal ag.
Yes, methane has a half life of around 10 years in the atmosphere, but it oxidises to become CO2 and therefore continues to contribute to GHG effect after this time.
I find you amazingly calm and, as always very convincing. I found him to be desperately selling lies to keep a cruel and unnecessary industry alive. Wishing you strength for your important work!
Agreed & I fully know Ed is a gift to us all on this earth. And... Rene Descartes hugely (and so wrongly) impressed the world with his 'I think therefore I am' . He also believed animals were like clocks, mechanical & dependent & unable to feel. His beliefs & practices are still taught in Universities all over... Being taught that humans are above or entitled or here to dominate (Biblical 'Dominion') is blindly accepted and thank goodness many are waking up to compassion. So I don't think Mr. Martin is 'lying'. He believes the bull just as the majority still do & he's caught in the capitalist trap of commodities & not seeing that animals are so very much like us. He may not even understand that humans are animals. Misinformation is everywhere & if a few 'get it' here, that's brilliant. Thank you Ed for opening eyes, educating so many & exposing the ignorance in our world. We are raised to follow not lead & more are finding the courage to think for themselves, and to 'feel' compassion for all beings. The earth was made for all beings not just humans. Einstein was in such the minority of his time & veganism is growing. Ed is decreasing that minority and one day the majority of humans will be vegan. Step by step. Each of us helping the most vulnerable.
I’m a human secular but everytime I hear atheist declare Descartes as a great genius, I remember reading what you said @mare ,that animals were mere robots,he took his wife’s pet dog and to prove his point, tied her up and dissected her alive, while she screamed, the wife left him after this
Hey everyone, Ed is a legend but let's also support activists with small platforms such as The Juggling Vegan. She has just finished a 30-day challenge interviewing people about veganism. She is really good at talking to people, please just watch a video, hit the like button, anything will send these videos to more people who need to receive the vegan message. If we make small activists grow, veganism will grow.
You did great in the debate, even though the air-time you got was very limited in comparison to Martin's. I so hope that you get the chance to voice all of the things in this video, on national TV sometime soon!
Fuck sake, Ed why didn't you tell me this sooner? I've been mixing dog faeces in my morning smoothies for months and only now you tell me I don't need to? Don't I feel silly!
Thanks Ed! For keeping your cool, which is not always so easy to do. But you are certainly practiced in it. For appealing to logic. Repetition is the key. Defensive reactions will fade with time and exposure and our demand for being told the truth will only grow. Thank you for speaking it. The reality of our treatment of non human animals and the effect of our collective choice of relationship to all life on this planet will be accepted and understood by all, hopefully soon enough. Let us all be the change we wish to see in the world 😊 Shine brightly. Be the beacon that brings humanity back home. Into living with the earth, rather than on her 💕✨
This is a great follow up to the other video! Thank you for staying cool under pressure and the work you do to provide fact based points in support of the elimination of needless animal suffering!
Anyone who is defending the "livestock" industry should be put through what the animals are going through, even just for a few minutes. I am sure the world would turn vegan in a heartbeat.
If they were only put through it for a few minutes with no lasting damage, after they were done they would simply claim it was just fine and then proceed to going back to eating animals. That's how these carnists' brains work.
@@slideman1249 Food can be obtained in other ways than suffering. And yes, food that provides full range of nutrition human body needs. I'm not talking about people that are heavily allergic or live in poverty and for example rely on animals for milk or eggs to feed themselves or tribes in africa or antarctica, I'm talking about those who CAN go vegan, those are the people that should go vegan.
Wow interesting idea. I think if we really wanted the meat industry to stay, I'd want governments to issue a "meat eating license" but in order to apply for it, one must first go through whatever the animal they were going to eat go through, even if only a fraction of the experience. I'm sure only psychopaths would want to pass getting that license just to eat meat.
To me, real poetry is beautifully written communication informed by truth and fact. This is regardless if it is an easy or a hard truth to accept. This is how things change. Communication in patience, love, grace, and most importantly: passion for the message. This is poetry.

Thanks Ed for debunking clown after clown in our fight against animal exploitation.❤
This won't happen on TV because of ratings. They need to move things along so people don't switch channels.
That's the problem, one can shoot out 100 lies in 2 minutes but it's harder and it takes a lot more time to dispel them.
Dishonest, callous and delusional people have the advantage in that arena.
Though it also occurs in longer debates.
@Ryan Robinett you’re a vegetarian? You do know the dairy industry is arguably far more cruel than the meat industry?
@Ryan Robinett respect
"We do everything possible for the animals welfare" - well, except for the fact that you kill them. That's probably not in their welfare Martin....
That actually does serve a role in their welfare.
@@dreadpirateroberts1358 How?
A Freudian slip, he meant 'farewell'

Thank you for caring, Norman. ❤️🙏✌️
The vegan propaganda worked on you so
@@DublinDapper If it's propaganda that has erred on the side of kindness and compassion.......I'll take that all day every day, but that's not how it works now,....is it?

Makes me mad when the assumption is that a vegan diet has to be 100% balanced all the time. Do we really believe that every omnivore is eating a perfectly balanced diet and never needs any advice?? If so why are there campaigns like 5-a-day and an nhs website telling folk how to cut down on sugar?!! 🤦🏼♀️
Thank you for speaking up for animals.
Plants don't want to be eaten. They can't run away and have antinutrients as a defense mechanism. They are conscious and capable of cognitive process.
lets all speak up together!!! animal liberation!!!
Also why do so many slaughterhouse workers suffer from PTSD? Doesn't sound like a very humane environment at all.

Does this guy actually believe what he is saying,? The points he is making are absolutely ridiculous...keep up the good work Ed!
he's only interested in the money he gets from it
I've heard a lot of the same arguments out of phd animal scientists at Purdue University. It's really scary how antiscience they get as top scientists
