Marshall Tucker in my opinion was in the top three country Southern rock bands of all time Lynyrd Skynyrd was a rock and roll band The Allman Brothers were Blues southern rock band and Marsha Tucker out of Greenville South Carolina was the first country rock band
Toye is the lead singer and Guitar player did a tour in Viet Nam as a Marine and got shot and volunteered and went back to fight again. I’m a first time subscriber. Love your reactions.
Toy Caldwell on vocals and guitar 🎸 they were a southern rock band and had a country feel more than most “southern rockers”. Fire On the Mountain is another famous song of theirs that I haven’t seen anyone react to but is truly worthy ✌️
I never heard that either, even after so many times hearing these songs...not sure what that means, if anything? Well either way you could say he did finish his "tour" whether in Nam or on stage, sometimes it turns out to be all the same??
Tour mean his tour in Vietnam. He had enough time in when he was wounded to go home but refused to leave his friends so he went back into combat after recovering and they went home together.
Another great Southern Rock group. No bad songs on their multiple albums. Still touring but I'm thinking there is only one original member left. Check out Fire On The Mountain and Ride Like The Wind.
Toy Caldwell, aka "the Thumb" because he never used a pick, choosing to use the fleshy part of his thumb in all his guitar work. He and brother Tommy formed the band after serving their country overseas in Vietnam.
They're from my town! Local boys made good. They're actually playing a free concert here tonight in Spartanburg SC. So cool you're reacting to this tonight. Very bluesy southern rock and there's not many times you hear a flute in a southern rock song. Their catalog is phenomenal. Toy Caldwell that is singing and playing guitar there passed away as did his brother that was also in the band. There's actually a road in my county named Marshall Tucker Road. I love your channel and I love that you dig MTB Keep up the good work Biz!
Marshall Tucker, Blackfoot, The Allman Brothers, Molly Hatchet, Lynyrd Skynyrd were all turning out Southern Rock at the time, 1970’s - mid 80’s. Southern Rock is music you can just sit and listen too that makes you feel good.
The band took their name from an inscription carved into the back of a piano in the tuning room of the studio they were working in. First LP released in 1973. Lead vocals, and that smooth lead guitar by band leader, Toy Caldwell.. Toy died in his sleep from heart failure Feb 1993. The MTB comes out of Spartanburg SC, recorded debut, Dec 1973@ Capricorn Records, Macon Ga.
Classic Southern Rock song. This band’s sound just touches you inside. I’m waiting for a reaction to 24-hours at a time. Another great Tucker Band song
I love your reaction on this. You was sho nuff feeling it. Glad to hear you in Georgia. You are my kind of people sir.congrats on all of your success. Check out Greg Allman, floating bridge, you'll dig it buddy. Thanks for sharing your love for music. Peace ☮️
Here is a few more great songs of theirs Take the Highway Heard it in a love song and fire on the mountain They are from , South Carolina and another great Southern Rock Band
Always loved that performance. MTB is a good band to explore. So many great songs. Even the deep cuts are great. You oughta check out a band from Georgia and that era, Wet Willie. The live video from the '70s of them performing Grits Ain't Groceries is smoking.
First reaction I've seen by you. Subscribed and going to binge. Great reaction. I'm always surprised how young they look to have been through so much. Toy was amazing and was a war hero to many.
Here is some more great Southern rock bands Molly Hatchet some of their songs is Flirting with Disaster, Gator Country Wet Willie songs Weekend, Keep on smiling 38 Special some songs Hold on loosely , wide eyed southern boys Blackfoot Songs Train, Train and Highway song The outlaws green grass and high tides just a few suggestions
Bingo! 😁 And at least you got a real instrument, for me it was the triangle or the sticks (and I don’t mean drums). You know what I’m talking about. 😄😆😂🤣
The late great Toy Caldwell on vocals and lead guitar. They from Spartanburg S.C. and Skynyrd frynds! Check out Skynyrd's When you got good Friends and Ronnie Van Zant will tell ya how much he liked MTB!
Top Shelf Southern Rock song. Fire On The Mountain, Take The Highway, Searching For A Rainbow, Blue Ridge Mountain Sky. They will change it up on ya...😎
Toy Caldwell was such a rare talent. Tragic life and death...he really had so much more to give. Such a sad song that he really felt with every fiber of his being.
I got to see them in concert. A great concert. I caught his pick with his name, and on the other side was "My fing pick". Yes I did censored in case people would get offended.
The Caldwell brothers were from Moore South Carolina about 30 miles from where I live and I have always had kin living in Moore and would ride by an old two story brick school house that they used to record some of their songs in. I remember hearing on the radio years ago back in the 70's that they got their name by one of the brothers finding a keyring in an abandoned car shed or barn and the keyring had the name, "Marshall Tucker" on it and they named the band after the name on the keyring. About the flute, critics, told the band that a flute in a Southern Rock Band won't work, but they tried it out and that became their trademark. That flute gave a lot of their songs a very unique sound that caught on and is classic to hear to this day.
My husband and I started dating when we were 15 yrs old, we graduated, got married and had our daughter all in 3 months in 4 yrs we had 3 kids a yr apart then had Zach 13 yrs later. We are now 61 yrs old and have 4 children and 4 grandchildren, when my oldest daughter came home from school one day she said the teacher asked the class to raise your hand if your parents are still together and she was the only one to raise her hand. Anyway I say all this because it can be done, if there's a problem don't run to divorce court sit down and talk about it NO yelling, NO screaming listen to what each has to say and God has always been a big part of our lives,. Sit and eat dinner together every night and even my kids would give each other a hug and kiss on the cheek and say I love you to us and each other. I love my husband more today than the day I married him.
@@watchbizmatik I WAS ONLY 18 AND THEY HAD NOT MADE THE BIG TIME YET, BUT THEY OPENED UP FOR "BLACK OAK ARKANSAS" AND "THE EDGAR WINTER BAND", WHICH ARE LEGENDARY IF YOU DON'T KNOW THEM....THEY WERE IN THEIR HOMETOWN OF SPARTANBURG, SC AND THEY STILL PLAYED THE SMALL CLUBS UNTIL THEY GOT THEIR CHANCE TO RECORD AN ALBUM WITH CAPRICORN RECORDING. Biz, a couple comments: 1) Absolutely love Marshall Tucker Band, so rich in talent and the flute is so unique to rock. 2) I was also chosen to be a flautist as a kid and stuck with it. I learned that not everyone has the mouth shape to play the flute and it appears to me that you probably do. That may be why they chose it for you. It's kind of special. 👄
I've loved this tune for 40 years and really never thought about the fact it is a feel good song about a guy that is to the point of climbing a mountain and jumping off.
Great reaction Biz!! I saw these guys in 1974 and it is still the best concert I ever attended. They kicked ass!! I don't why southern rock bands seem to have tragic stories like the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and these guys. They have so many great songs and many are not that well known. One of my favorites is Running Like the Wind. I don't see a good live version except a live audio, but if you get a chance try this studio version. ua-cam.com/video/g3jYYUqCh6k/v-deo.html

Amen

@@brianginn9127 that's funny. I agree with you.
that song has been on my playlist for as long as i can remember. Toy Caldwell could sing and play his ass off!

It's just a friggen' great performance. The lead singer was wounded in Vietnam. He could have gone home but stayed, healed, and finished out his tour.

I've been loving this band for about 40 years now, great music!
Saw Marshall Tucker and The Outlaws in 1984 at 3 Rivers Stadium in Pitts. One of the greatest Southern Rock Bands ever. Absolute Legends!

Yes, they’re from South Carolina and they often played shows with Skynyrd. I love Toy Caldwell’s vocals. His guitar picking style is so unique.
Always loved the way he used his thumb to play the leads. It gives it a cool tone.
They also toured with the CBD back then✌🏻
