And I'm surprised they sent him a review unit after he wore socks and sandals to the press event.
LMAO
He drops all of the laptops and tech there, and they still let him be around it. They are all linus's bitches.
mate did he really? lmao
The audience and hype he can potentially generate if the product deserves it far exceeds the cost of replacing a unit he broke.
Doesn't mean they don't get a little tense whenever he walks into the room.
Am I the only person who doesn't care about wireless charging?
I'm with ya c: but it's one of those things where if I had a phone with it and then get this you'll be a little disappointed if you used it alot.
Spiffy, I agree, if you had been using it you wouldn't get a phone without, but until then i don't really care too much, it would be nice to have but I'm not going out of my way.
I think wireless charging is pretty useful. when I go to bed I don't have to find the wire ,get the right direction of the connector (none type c phones) and then charge my phone.
i also find it easy to just plop your phone onto a charging pad without touching the wireand it instantly starts to charge
I used to think the same way, but when you try it you need it :P
FINALLY the phone WITH the skin AND WITHOUT the skin
Telefon cok guzel dostum para varsa alinir
there is something called google image
sub to me please
Astitva Nigam go away
SD-Card expansion is a killer feature for me nowadays. And since I owned a Moto X, I also cannot live without front facing speakers anymore. For me, it's an easy choice.
***** Well, I am fucking trash when it comes to managing space. I filled up 64GB in like 3 months. After that it's a hassle of deleting this to get that on there. I just like not having to worry about space.
***** Can't speak for everone, but it's just a case of not wanting to get rid if stuff, because maybe you want it in the future and then it's not there.
+Ruma For me, I have a lot of apps that I use, with offline data for several of them, a lot of offline media because I travel a lot to places with iffy signal reception, plus take a lot of photos and video. Google Photos can help with the last one, but the rest can only be solved by an SD slot or a 128GB model. OnePlus provides neither sadly.
+Ruma flashing custom ROMs and making backups of each one when u wanna switch
One: My music library is 35gb. Don't spew bullshit about "cloud streaming music" to me. I like my music in my phone and ready to play, not tied to a network connection.
Two: 4k video and raw photos take up a lot of space. It is pretty stupid to have such a high end phone with impressive camera stats than can take high quality media limited by the amount it can store.
Three: Apps have grown enormous in size and will only continue to get larger. Many games take up multiple gb of space and personally, I find 64gb the bare minimum of space required to future proof a phone.
Four: SD card expansion in particular is great because it enables you to transfer through the sd card medium. I have found sd cards useful in a pinch when lets say, I have to transfer files manually via sd card slot due to lack of usb support or using the phone sd card as a backup storage for my dslr.
Five: You have a high res screens and vr and shit, huge screens, and want to watch movies. Keep your movies on your phones. Again, no cloud streaming bullshit, I do not like to depend on connections for my media.
Perhaps back in 2013-2015, phones with no expandable memory and/or maximum storage options of 64gb seems great but I do not think they are future proof.
Just wanted to say that the Axon was recently updated with some teaks on issues people have found;
*The notification bell is now optional, just go to All Settings> Notifications > Show on the lock screen > and change it from wallpaper mode to notification mode.
*The focus on moving objects for the VIDEO camera has been improved.
*While not an update, they announced that the Axon 7 will be receiving Nougat in January (2017)
*While not an update, I found a workaround to the camera shortcut. There's an app called QuickCamera (all one word) that was apparently originally designed for the Moto X, but works with the Axon 7. It adds a gesture function to quickly access the camera. Just flip the phone twice and the camera app opens up, ready to take a photo.
Devilmonk7402 update on camera short cut, like the galaxy phones you can double press the lock button anywhere to quick access the camera!
I'm Pawn shop, and this is my rick harrison. I old man here with my work and my hoss, Big son. One thing I've learned after door years - you never know what is gonna come through that 21.
Go home drunk, you're Kim.
😂
what's the officer, problem?
(meme review theme starts)
lol
Editing/production value going up and up! :D
the front facing speakers win it for me over op3.🙂
David Lukner -.-
David Lukner this still outputs better quality sound through its Jack
David Lukner yes. Well, atleast most reviewers say so
But it is the front facing speakers that are more important to me.
David Lukner my current phone has front facing speakers and I can't imagine my next phone without it .
You have to use a phone regularly to understand the difference.
David Lukner can't take ur Bluetooth speaker Everywhere, can you?
Anyway, it is just personal preference after all.
I used to be a banker but I lost INTEREST
What an interesting joke...
Ha.
Lol, random off the wall joke was refreshing. Thanks for the chuckle.
Let's get the laughs in now because 10,000 other people are going to steal this joke in T minus 10....9.....8.....

When are you going to review MKBHD

HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL
I see you have mastered the ways of the great lord Chin-chin
+Oliver Church ugh. check your spelling.
Ned Nowland Why? He didn't spell anything wrong. If anyone should check their spelling it should be you....
Do you know what the word "Chin-Chin" means?
yeah, video comes out after I got a one plus 3, but the simple points you touched on at the end helped to keep my mind made up.
Can the camera record 1080p 60fps video? Also, could you do a Oneplus 3 vs Axon 7 comparison video?
Yeah it can
I have personally just purchased a oneplus 3 and I love it
Watching your videos from many months....Now I subscribed your channel.
Coz this review is awesome...Thank you for clearing my confusion....
This review just absolutely WOW'd me, not sure if more than usual but its very rare for me to sit through the video just because of how well done the video itself.
Not gonna lie, I'm not exactly very interested in the product itself, but MAN everything was SO SO SO well done here. The writing, the b-rolls, JUST EVERYTHING was amazing from start to finish!
Love you guys, keep it up!
Until OnePlus offers expandable storage, they'll never enter my consideration.
Thats silly. First of all it is offered on the Oneplus X so your statement is false, as you claim they dont offer it. Second, It isnt needed much as there is google photos, dropbox, airdroid, and countless other filesharing apps so external storage would be a bit more of a hassle. 3rd, its being phased out anyway by faster tech.
+BigBoi 6 microsd is not a deal breaker for me, but I prefer local storage over the cloud any day and im sure there are lots that would too
Miguel Yanez You dont have to use cloud storage, im just saying there are many apps to store photos with, or to simply transfer them to another computer to keep your phone storage clear and clean.
OnePlus phones are cheap in comparison. Buying a 64GB model is no big deal, seriously
+BigBoi 6 I think the only silly thing is that we're arguing about this. the ability to add more local storage to your phone is objectively better, hands down. One of the main reasons it's useful to me is that it's easier to store music on an external SD so I don't need to download/transfer my entire music library to my phone every time I flash a new custom ROM. It also keeps my main storage free so that phone performance isn't affected if I take a lot of pictures and videos. (I use Google Photos to back everything up to the cloud, but it's really nice not to have to worry about clearing up that space while I'm on a hike where I have no internet and haven't had a chance to back my photos up.) Plus, data plans are stupidly expensive where I live, so keeping things installed locally literally saves me money.
It's nice that they put microSD in the OnePlus X, but with a Snapdragon 801 and only 16GB of internal storage, it would be a huge step down from my current phone.
did u do the headphone comparison with .flac files or normal mp3 ones
The audiophile community can figure out if there's a 1% difference that I'm missing. I just don't care that much, and neither do most people, so it's not a major point for me to labor over -LS
+LinusTechTips true dat 👊
M8 YOU JUST GOT SHUT DOWN
+LinusTechTips lol
@LinusTechTips so, those 2 moments u have captured, which one is caught by s7 and which is caught by axon 7?
I’m Rick Harrison, and this is my pawn shop. I work here with my old man and my son, Big Hoss. Everything in here has a story and a price. One thing I’ve learned after 21 years - you never know WHAT is gonna come through that door.
One of the best reviews to date. Short and to the point. You are not swayed by specs and gave a realistic view on the speakers and camera. Thanks!
THIS COMMENT IS FOR BRANDON. Brandon, was the shot at 1:49 filmed with an anamorphic lens? It's simply beautiful (coming from another filmmaker) :D
Yo, I'm not actually Brandon but I know for these shots he usually uses the Helios 44-2 with an anamorphic adapter.
I noticed that too and I'm not a film maker and don't even have a camera but have learnt all that stuff online. First I thought that it is an anamorphic lens but the shot at 3:07 gave it away. Look at that radially distorted bokeh which is signature for the helios lens.
The Helios 44-2 is a gorgeous lens although I don't have the anamorphic adapter... The swirly bokeh us just so dreamy especially with trees or something in the background
Is*
I'm not Brandon. BUT...I will still smack the shit out of you. 😊
Linus, can we get a video actually explaining the current state of server storage? Yes you've covered RAID 0,1,5 and 6 very well, but what about the new (Or so I understand it's new) ZFS/BTRFS storage arrays? Can we have a beginning to end server build log with the actual striping of the hard drives and software ZFS, or whatever configuration you recommend. This is something that me and I know other fans of the channel are interested in, since you've showcased several server videos which are very useful and fun to watch, but never actually done a full, beginning to end build log or "tutorial" style of video (Or at least not since these new standards arose). Thanks, and I hope you will take this into consideration, if at the very least in a statement as to your opinion on these new standards.
Dicks out for Harambe
Discs out for harambe.
Too late...
Quick camera launch you can do it from an fingerprint, you can asign it in fingerprint settings menu, for every finger from 1 to 5(the maximum fingerprint that you can save)
I'm glad that you said something positive about the capacitive buttons. Most reviews I've seen complain about how close they are and hard to press. Great review!
review the elephone p9000! fot 200$ it is a flagship killer!
+1
Interesting, thanks for mentioning it I'll consider getting one.
Edit: You might should've mentioned that there is also a lite version for about $170 and aside from a 5MP front camera vs 8MP it appears to be exactly the same spec wise, so that's great.
Edit2: Actually it's not quite a flagship killer, at least not in the US because the sellers have a note that reads "Not Support 4G LTE in USA" so.... Awesome phone but that sucks.
LeEco Le Max 2
My great grandmother think Linus is a pretty handsome man.
LOL
wait you showed her a phone review??
i was watching when she entered in my bedroom
i paused the video and she said: "Oh, what a handsome man on your screen"
Really well done video. Love how you make this reviews.
Hey Linus, been watching your channel for quite some time now.. I didn't know your also good reviewing mobiles. nice move to increase subs.. Thanks! Keep it up!
I don't like that the buttons look EXACTLY the same
That's the point. You can reverse the functionality with the left handed and right handed modes depending on your preference.
LinusTechTips I know, it's a minor complaint because I'm used to Samsung phones where they label which is which but I'd still take the Axon over the Oneplus
But when there are dots instead of icons you can assign ANY action to them. You can reverse etc, and on samsung (after rooting ofc) you will be viewing last used apps by clicking the back button?
The fact that those are capacitive buttons and not on screen buttons, so the design is in hardware.
Jimmy- The buttons are not on=screen so they'll still be there.
Phone reviewers: People aren't watching our reviews. Let's make the title a question
+Matt Smillie but will it work?
Hoping to see it in Italy as soon as possible . Thanks for your opinion .
I'm so glad they came out with this, I have been wanting a good media consumption device for a long time and every phone I have looked at had some compromise I wasn't willing to make. I can definitely make a little compromise on the camera for great battery life, nice speakers, great screen quality, and fast charging.
weird to hear a North American call it Zed T E
"Zed" is the proper pronunciation in Canada. I hear it all the time here.
do video in which you water cool a raspberry pi! Like if you agree
Got mine in June of 2018 and just did battery replacement yesterday and what an improvement over the old 2016 battery. I think my Axon will be usable for another 2 years :D
I got mine for AUD$355 or about USD$275. I'm really glad you pointed out the capacitive buttons placement being set inward. Something I also noticed that definitely helps ergonomics. It also helps when holding it one handed as you don't have to reach as far either.
Has Linus ever reply to our comments?
i dont think so
yeah lol, but only quality ones
Or ones with negative criticism :p
I've seen him reply a few times, though it's pretty rare
+Hok Sea Wait, did you just reply to yourself? Wat.
Flagship wannabe? more like flagship Harambe.
I would like some more camera reviews please. Last one was amazing
Linus what is it that your hands keeps doing under the table is it a button to cut the recording for editing or some sort of scrolling for a screen where u read your next lines
"Hey I totally hated the OnePlus 3 but look, let's like a less good phone because the company sponsored me a trip!"
Linus in a nutshell
Yep. You nailed it. And notice how, like I said in the preview of this phone, one of the things that he really ripped on in the LG G5 -- the fingerprint sensor on the back - is fine here, with the same thing as he said in the preview: "while not in my preferred position, is lightning-fast". Word for word.
I mean, come on, LTT. If you guys want us to believe you're not shills, at least be consistent from review to review. If a feature's bad on one device, it should be bad on any device with that feature. And maybe change the script a little, instead of copying and pasting from previous stuff.
I don't know what you mean. This phone has a QHD display vs the OnePlus 3's FHD display and micro SD support. These were things people wanted since the OnePlus One and I'm shocked that after two whole generations neither has been implemented.
+andrew zuo A QHD screen means less battery time and requires more power to render stuff like games. I'm more than happy with my FHD screen, the MicroSD Slot is also not needed with 64GB of fast storage.
Hi dude!
+andrew zuo you can't buy ZTE outside USA, oneplus has better camera. Yes, the ZTE has better speakers and micro SD but that's all nobody uses qhd on such small screen it's just as unnecessary as the 6gb ram on oneplus
if you care that much about pictures then you might aswell carry a damn dslr or something with you
problem is dslr is so big.
So? if you really care about taking great pictures thay shouldn't be a problem
Tadzius OK so if you want to take some good looking picture you just take a dslr to anywhere you go. Seems brilliant.
I'm not saying that, I'm saying that you can't expect to take amazing quality pictures with a phone
+Tang Tang Tang rx100
Beautiful device. I'm getting myself one. Just waiting for UK release
Great video Linus, which phone is better in your opinion: Op3 or the Axon 7?
Staying on my OnePlus 3. That Gold Axon7 looks ugly.
+Nathan Contorelli agreed
Kind of true, but the OnePlus 3 is a lot less interesting being a silver aluminum slab like most phones
Don't judge a phone until you actually have your hands on it. It looks a lot better in person.
That screen sucks.
Why were you even considering? Point of those comparisons was not to get you switch from your OnePlus 3.
FIRST!
I was totally first but slow internet...
Totally
That's why you don't use Internet explorer
Actually using notepad...
PotatoMasterrace
also I am not sure about the headset jack but I thought the dolby audio software in the phone produces sound in 32bit which does sound different from just comparing music with it on and off from the drop down...
For better audio hold the Dolby button down from the quick toggle and open Atmos. Click on one of the customs and then click custom again the Eq opens. You can tweak the Eq and turn off the voice enhancers and the other stuff. You can get much louder better sound.
great phone on paper but lets be honest, the phone is super ugly.
The gold version maybe, but there is a gray version coming which looks much cooler and better.
Artturi Siven oneplus 3 still looks better imo
+BigBoi 6 true, but the ZTE isn't THAT ugly.
Artturi Siven I dislike the recessed fingerprint sensor, as it kills a bit of the unibody look its going for, I also am not a fan of he front, it just looks cluttered between the buttons and the bezels and the speakers (which look fine).
+BigBoi 6 in my opinion it looks fine, but everyone has their opinion on it.
ive had this phone since early august and i love this phone so much. I highly recommend it. i get 4gLTE with t-mobil in minnesota
your videos are amazing... I love the axon 7 in everyway but pin pointingvthe dual speaker setup..!! :-)
I'm getting my Axon 7 next month. I hear mixed reviews about the camera and the MiFavor OS. Can future software updates improve the performance of the camera and its low light capabilities?
the new lighting in the main set is amazing, good job brandon
Just ordered this on amazon, hard choice over op3 but the back placed fingerprint and QHD is what sold it for me, plus a nicer grey colour.
Linus i need to ask a question when i bought my zenfone which recieved a good review from u so i need to ask does this have heating problems ie overheating with alot of apps?
Did any update to maybe turn off that bell switch for the notifications arrive yet?
Concluding at the end with the op3 comparison was smart
Could you perhaps try to review the Alcatel series for some of these cell phone reviews? The OneTouch Idol 4 is coming out soon, with a VR headset. Ty!
Linus! Is it possible to have the moving subject comparison for the Oneplus 3?
Does this have better speakers than the ones found in Alcatel's new Idol 4S / Idol 4 models? I don't know if you guys have reviewed one, or any viewers have found a comparison between the two. (I'll search after I'm done watching the video. I tend to watch these vids all the way through :P)
They need to come out with the axon 8. This was my favorite phone ever! Went through two of them because of the faulty shaky camera. Sad really. How is it that this device and the mini have better displays than the pixels?
I really like this phone. what carrier have you been using?
that notification button on the lock screen is what i need, notifications on my lock screen annoy me to no end for some reason :)
I love my Axon! I don't know if your phone is a different size from mine or not, but this phone looks way too big in your hands.. I'm not a big guy by any means.. but this phone looks really large in your hands. Great video! The software isn't too intrusive, or at least as not as much as people think. I just came from a Nexus 6. Unless you absolutely want the one plus, get this phone. It's super impressive!
Check the Display menu, it should have a double press on power button to launch camera shortcut setting
I've seen quite a few reviews for this phone and I kind of want it. I have an iPhone 5s but those front facing speakers seem so nice.
You can actually fast launch the camera using the fingerprint sensor but obviously you had to use another finger ( i am using my middle finger etc).. you have to go to Settings - Fingerprint - Quick open app.
I can understand the pressing a bell to see your notifications thing. I usually take hours just deciding what lockscreen picture to use and after all that just to have it blocked by notifications 100% of the time (bbm users.. anyone?) is really annoying. So I like the bell
Linus i'd like to have your advise, Wich one is better? the lg v10 or the Nexus 6p? My Brother keeps complaining about the Nexus 6p, my Device
would you please make a review from the Xiaomi mi5?
I would be interested in seeing zenfone 3 review. Have a zenfone 2 wanted to know if it worth the upgrade
Kind of curious about this phone's audio capabilities during video. My Note 4 did about as good as any of my camcorders would have in a loud environment (any distortion that happened was easily dealt with in freeware--audacity). Hoping this one is comparable because I am long overdue for an upgrade.
Sounds good, might upgrade to this. Getting a bit tired of the oneplus one.
Hey linus what's the difference between liqud cooling and fan cooling on PCs? which one is more simple to use? I'm a beginner of pc gamer and im planning to buy the digital storm bolt 3. but I don't know how to customise and fix the PC, and i live in Singapore, pls guide me, thanks!
THANK YOU! Thank you for showing the phone without the dbrand skin!
Awesome review Linus, added to my already extensive list of informative reviews that brought something new to the table.
Came a bit too late for me though, as I already made my decision... xD But still, new info is always a good thing.
I was following reviews, launch and overall information on both OnePlus 3 and ZTE Axon 7 for around a month now, pretty lazily at start I must admit.
But then, my Xperia Z3 suffered a drop face down with it's touchscreen cracking... and then it became an urgent matter.
Not willing to pay the ridiculous albeit justified prices to replace my touchscreen, I decided to order parts and try to repair it at a later date. But as I cannot manage to stay without a smartphone for anything between a month and half a year (the unfortunate span of time that brazilians are supposed to wait for eBay purchases to reach them due to customs and tax delays), I splurged for a OnePlus 3.
I was pretty inclined to get a ZTE Axon 7, as microSD expantion is a bit high on my list of needs, plus the front facing speakers is something I really really loved about my Xperia Z3. Some stuff like the horrible audio filtering on OnePlus 3 video capture also seems to be a huge bummer.
But I ended up going for OnePlue 3 for a couple of reasons that might not matter much for others: availability (really hard time finding a ZTE Axon 7 to buy in a way it would reach me quickly), and community (OnePlus 3 seems to already be in the works for rooting and custom roms by XDA Developers, and the company has a longer tradition on this).
Which is to say, for regular folks not living in Brazil and not wanting to go deep into rooting and mods, it's still a very well balanced choice.
I don't particularly care about screens over fullHD for smartphones, I trust OnePlus better to keep software updated, aside from the horrible audio capture the OnePlus camera experience really looks more polished, and that Dash charger might fit better my recharging needs. 6Gb of RAM doesn't seems to add that much to the table, but you know... as I expect this phone to be useable for some years, it might become some minor factor on futureproofing, though I doubt it a bit.
Both companies gets a tip of the hat for managing to put such great specs in a 400 bucks device. It really seems to be the year of mid-range prices/phones.
If I'm going to be completely honest about it, both Samsung Galaxy 7 Note and the future Nexus phone were also in consideration due to different reasons... despite the difference in price and the unbelievable quality advance of the mid ranges, the Note 7 along with others of the line really have a reason to take the crown. Those low light photos are unbelievably smooth, and the extra stuff with the stylus seems to be really useful this time.
Expecting the new Nexus has the same meaning it always had: stock Android, faster updates, and the ability to root and install some really interesting stuff like Copperhead OS. But I can't pay that much for a phone, and I can't wait for Nexus anymore...
Anyways, keep making smartphone reviews Linus! Our opinnions will usually align pretty well on the subject, but I always like hearing your input. Thanks!
yay, almost 3 Million subs! Keep up the great work!
Great video Linus! Outstanding! Keep up the good work! From your friend from Burnaby, Tiger! Cheers!
Can you do a comparison video on like all the new flagship phones cause that would be awesome, and also much appreciated. also can you do a review on the asus zenfone 3 deluxe plez???????
I'm aware the skins are from dbrand, but which skin is on the Galaxy S7? Is that the matte black one? 8:16
Would you say the camera on the Axon 7 is better than the Lg g4? I'm looking to upgrade, and strong camera performance is a necessity to me.
So, since USC and Verizon use CDMA as opposed to GSM, would this work with those carriers or no?
I love your reviews. Great information delivered by an enthusiastic, amicable expert. For me this choice is easy, I've experienced every OnePlus, and the things I kept hoping for never came, until ZTE made this phone. dual front speakers. Everything else is comparable except their speakers, and for the same price, similar battery experiece, and QHD, it is very easy for me. I'm believe the UI will be less satisfactory compared to Oxygen, but frankly, Cyanogen is the best, and Oneplus hasn't been the same since they started using Oxygen. I'm planning on using NOVA launcher anyway. ALSO, you didn't mention their Passport 2.0, 2 years of included warranty, damaged screens, etc. Linus, what is your daily driver?
So I have a 320gb WD hard drive and I want to get an enclosure to use it as an external drive. How do I know which ones will work, and which one should I get?
I got a Galaxy S7 and with a otterbox like case on it I have no issues holder the phone in landscape mode. Other then the "heft" of the case which I think is like 2/3rd of the phones weight.
Please do a review on the Huawei Honour Note 8. I know the size is beyond comprehension but i never seen it anywhere.
Can any of these Type-C connections do OTG and HDMI out at the same time? I'm not getting a new phone until that is a thing as there is nothing else I am missing with what I have.
can u look into the "ulephone power", it's seems to have decent stats, but the price is only 200 bucks, and I want to know why.
I would really love to see you review the LG V10, not only because I own one, but because it's easier to compare it to other devices if reviewed by the same person. I know it's not a "latest" model anymore, just wondering why it got looked over?
would you please do the review on oneplus 3 because you have gone so in depth with this phone
Is this phone available in the US yet? Last time i looked, bestbuy was still issuing preorders
Finally, an unbiased person who presents ZTE as he should have. I own a ZTE and all points raised are accurate and real. Very good review.
i don't know whether linus or anyone is seeing this but this is a shoutout. Linus reviews phones better than some other dedicated android channels; so these phone reviews need to come out more. We never seen videos about some other polarizing flagships like nexus 6p. Keep 'em comin'
Linus will you review the ZTE Zmax Pro ? Looks like a great (if not the best) budget phone right now
that BACK button floating on UA-cam in the phone, is that an app or included feature? can someone please tell me? thanks!
I bought the Oneplus 3 a few days ago since the Axon 7 isn't yet available where I am. I knew for a fact that if I got the Axon, I would be jealous of the Oneplus 3 a little for its speed and software; If I got the Oneplus 3 I would be a little jealous of the larger battery and amazing audio. Can't go wrong either way, both are amazing. I don't regret getting the OP3 at all.
the front facing stereo speakers and proper battery life makes this an instant favorite for me.... except that i just got a moto x play last month lol
Linus would you choose this over the oneplus three?
try doing an after the buzz on this phone linus you will see it has vastly improved
Fantastic review Linus. I went with the OP3 and I'm very happy. I've owned QHD smartphones for the past few years and unless I bring the OP3 pretty close to my face it's difficult to tell the difference in such a small form factor. The single bottom firing speaker is actually pretty good on the OP3 but of course it's no match for front facing stereo speakers. I can live without these things though. I prefer the design of the OP3, better camera and of course the main reason I bought it is developer friendliness.
OP3 already has fantastic support from the dev community and OP doesn't void warranty for rooting.
