    In response to your opinion towards the middle end of the video, you have to buy the stand separate, they did that with the 13.3 too, and they have a shortcut key remote that gives about 9 shortcuts and a dial.

    Hi there! Your review was perfect! But now I have a question. Do you recommend me to buy this tablet (artist 15.6)? or should I buy the Xp pen pro 16 (new version of the artist 16)? Do you think the Pro 16 have advantage between the 15.6 because it is pro version? Or they don't have such a big difference? (I know that 16 pro have a stand and 2 pen) But in quality of the panel what do you think?
    I'm searching a drawing tablet for my workspace and my studies on College (I would have to travel with the tablet).
    It would be worthwhile to buy the pro 16 even if it has less portability?
    Thanks you so much n.n

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  5 років тому +1

      Hey! Thank you for your kind words, I did my best as a non-reviewer.
      Let me try to answer your question: At the moment I'm still using the 15.6 so I can't compare it to the 16pro yet but I can say that I love using it!
      I believe that the difference beside the stand is an upgrade on the colors, but for my use it's not a deal-breaker as l'm using dedicated monitors for color correction anyway.
      I believe that they are built with the same materials, from my experience with XP-Pen for many other models, the hardware materials are built very well.
      What I suggest is that you will check out the two products (links on the description) do a comparison if it's something that you really must have in one of them and most important if it's on your budget since prices are changing from time to time.
      *BEFORE YOU BUY* - Check out my other review for the bigger display, if you are in a need for a desktop workstation, it may help you on your decision, if not of course the 15.6 or 16pro are my recommendation for traveling purposes.
      *ONE MORE THING* - I just updated new coupon codes, so don't forget to use them to get an extra discount!
      I hope that this helps a bit, good luck and have a wonderful day! :)

    Thanks for this review! I just signed up for your channel (you were faster than channels who I am already watching) :)
    I am really thinking about getting this one (budget is tight and I have certain no-go positions, like the fact that I will not get a tablet with a pen that needs recharging! I am coming from a Wacom Intuos (old Intuos, what would now be considered an Intuos Pro!) and Wacom has always had pens without batteries in them! I also want at the very least a 1080p screen and something that's larger than 13 inches) and I needed someone's honest opinion on it (an unboxing alone is NOT saying much after all!)

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому

      Thank you for subscribing I appreciate it :)
      About the recharging, I must mention that I'm using the *Artist 22E* for few months now and I only charged the pen once per 2-3 weeks of massive use and the charge took around 20 minutes so I barely noticed (also you get 2 pens so you can work with one while the other is charging).
      For the *Artist 15.6"* totally amazing! I'm very impressed, you get 1 pen but that's all you need.
      I'm using Wacom for years, that's true they are the first to came up with the most modern tech such as the passive battery but considering budget, for now I highly recommend XP-Pen hardware as I use it for myself and it works for me... so why it won't work for you, right?
      Yeah, I think the same as you... unboxing is kinda boring and waste of time I only did it so people can see what's in the box, my opinions are not as deep details as other reviewers but I do know what I'm talking about, I wanted to keep it simple as possible, also... English isn't my native language so I hope that my message and opinions were clear enough.
      I hope this info helps a bit,
      Good luck and have a wonderful day!

    The tablet looks nice but I want to know your personal opinion about stability of the lines. Is there any wobble/jitter on the lines when you drawing?

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому +4

      Hi There, From my experience: I never ran in to wobbly or shaky unstable lines, everything runs smooth for me.
      I believe it can achieved on some software brush properties if needed, but by default I'm extremely happy with the smooth lines on both: Artist 15.6 and Artist 22E Pro models which are amazing and serving me well so far.

    2 Questions
    Do you need to plug it into your wall or just your computer?
    I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Xp-pen Artist 16. Have you used it and if so do you think the Artist 15.6 is better?

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому +7

      You can either use only the USB Type-C to your computer / laptop (that's what I did) or you can connect it to the wall.
      Yes, I used the Artist 16 but I like the Artist 15.6" much better.
      I would go for the 15.6" if I had to choose but notice: they have many differences like a stand, battery-pen, panel design, buttons and probably other features you should check before you buy.
      If you go for portability I would recommend on the Artist 15.6" if you go for a workstation, go for the 22E or 22HD. please remember that's my personal opinion based on my experience with all these models. I hope it helps a bit.

      SylenDraws From what I can tell, this is an upgraded version of the Artist 16. It also costs about $100 less than the 16 right now on Amazon (though that might be a limited time promotional price). I'd say you have more to gain and nothing to lose by getting the 15.6 over the 16.

    Hello! I draw with the side of my hand pressed onto the paper (screen in this case).. would that affect the drawing? Or is only the pen able to draw on this? I watched the whole video and one of your comments about what you would like to see improvements on confused me so I was just wondering. If only the pen writes on this tablet then that would be awesome.. otherwise I couldn’t use this one! Thanks in advance

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому +2

      Hey There! Same as most artists, the hand is scrolling over the screen, it happens to me a lot when I animate, it's totally normal.
      Do not worry about that because the screen is NOT a Touch Screen, only the pen affect it. I think you'll enjoy using the Glove, it makes the hand move smooth on the screen, at the same time it cleans the screen.
      I updated the links on the description for the Artist16pro, which is the improved version of what I show on the video, basically it works the same but have stand comes with it and improved colors, from what I know rest of the features are exactly the same.
      I hope this helps, Good Luck!

    Can you flip it over so that the express keys are on the right hand side? (for left handed folks)

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому +1

      Well, for the Artist 22E model you have mirror express keys (8 in each side which do the same).
      For the Artist 15.6 I'm not sure, maybe XP-Pen will add "flip" option to the drivers.
      But there is a solution if you're using an Nvidia video card such as GTX series, in their panel there is an option to flip horizontal and vertical any of your screens so it worth a try, I hope it helps. :)

    Would you recommend this for a first time purchaser? ive always drawn pen/cil paper but am looking to start drawing digitally. but havent used a device like this before

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  5 років тому +1

      GREAT QUESTION!
      I had a lecture for art students last week and they've asked the same question because they came from traditional art.
      Let me try to help you:
      1. If you never used a digital Pen or Display Screen like this before, DON'T WORRY! it may feel weird on the first few couple of days but THEN! oh oh! there is no way back you will be ADDICTED! the speed and quality you'll be able to do after you'll get used to it, you will be amazed! but you must get used to it since it is not a paper you know.
      2. About the model, you should decide based on 3 main factors:
      - Traveling v.s. Steady-Workstation
      - Features
      - Your Budget
      3. If you travel a lot, go for the 15.6" models! (I use them all the time when I travel) My advice for you is to get either this current model or the PRO model if you need extra features and a dedicated stand: amzn.to/2Nf1uVe watch my review here: ua-cam.com/video/Jo6C3ZjxRWQ/v-deo.html
      4. if you like me, 80% work at Home / Studio I highly recommend you to get the 22" models, either the 22 Pro: amzn.to/324JGmc watch my review here: ua-cam.com/video/QNiWvhVMKqE/v-deo.html
      or if you need the extra features and Express buttons, the 22E Pro: amzn.to/2K8AGHn
      To be honest the 22" models are my favorite mainly because I get more space to draw even with the interface of whatever software I use.
      My other advice, don't get anything less than 15.6"
      They are very hard to work with, the workspace is tiny!
      I hope that this helps you a little bit, good luck with your creative journey! :)

      @@lankyluke There are no softwares that coming with it, you must understand it is a Screen just like any other screen display you connect to a desktop computer or laptop, it is NOT a computer.
      The good thing is that it supports most softwares for drawing / painting / 3d modeling / etc.. So you can try any software that is already on your computer basically. in this video I'm using Harmony for 2D Animation, and Krita for draw and paint the example you see.

    Do you have any other drawling tablets you would suggest or is this one pretty decent

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому +4

      I think it's more than just decent, it is a very decent model from what I experienced so far, I wouldn't recommend it if it was a low quality model.
      For someone who use so many different display tablets for years, currently I highly recommend on the *Artist 15.6* which I like a lot it's great for traveling and meetings.
      For my desktop workstation I'm using the *Artist 22E* mainly because of it's size and the express buttons. (I use the Express buttons + Keyboard shortcuts).
      The Artist 15.6 have my favorite newest Pen technology as I mentioned on the video the reasons. so I would say It's up to what you need consider your budget.
      If I had to choose I would go for either: Artist 15.6 or Artist 22E
      I'll probably try new models in the future, I always look for the best tool for my kind of work since I do a massive use of a tablet every single day until it smokes, that's why it must be a strong stable and high quality enough for me.
      I hope this helps a bit, have a great day! :)

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому

      Hello there, let me try to help you:
      To be honest I'm not a fan of anything by Apple mainly because of their extremely overpriced compare to others.
      If you are looking for a more mobile so your daughter can take it with her to anywhere and connect to any computer the 15.6 Pro is what I would recommend today.
      If you are looking for a steady bigger screen much more stable for a "studio-like" workstation, I highly recommend to go for the Artist 22 Pro or the 22E Pro.
      I'm using XP-Pen for all these hardware for about 2-3 years now and can't say how much it worth the money.
      I suggest you to check out my more updated video review about the new Artist 22 Pro pro, I cover the important features and it's basically the same as Artist 22E the only difference is the express buttons and the price of course:

    I am wanting to purchase a graphics tablet for my daughter who currently has a drawing tablet (without the screen) I am interested in the XP Pen products but wondering if I should spend the extra $100 and get the 15.6 instead of the 13.3. She loves to draw, especially anime and is quite good at it. She is also a leftie so we would have to rotate the tablet screen 180. Drawing is her passion and would like to be a graphic artist/animator. Your thoughts? She is 14 and draws pretty regularly. Thanks.

      Hi there,
      First of all this is like the most AWESOME gift for a creative child, you are an amazing parent, I had to say that! :)
      OK, from my personal experience, I can't recommend enough to upgrade from a non-screen graphic tablet to one with a screen that's for sure!
      About the size, I believe it's up to your budget basically, in my opinion the 13" is too small because most software have UI, buttons, and the drawing area itself so it makes everything too small to handle especially when you work hours on a creation.
      That's why I recommend to go for at least 15.6" and up if it's for traveling or just comfort.
      Also, I didn't try the 12" or 13" sizes so I can't say how good or not they are, I can only recommend hardware I tried and believe in.
      Yes, you can either rotate the screen or use the drivers to do it (I didn't try it myself but it supposed to be easy to do).
      I hope that this information helps. :)

    I am trying to decide against the 15.6 versus the 15.6 pro which is 100 dollars more. My daughter is a beginner artist. Do you think the 15.6 is just as good as the 15.6 pro?

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  5 років тому +1

      Let me try to help you, it is a tough decision consider budget.
      In short, my thinking is simple: invest in a better device for longer term usage, or save money for just practice or messing-around.
      The Artist 15.6 is great, there is no doubt, but if you believe that your daughter will use the device for a long period of time and not just for "here and there" I would recommend to go for the Artist 15.6 PRO since it is an improved version such as the more vibrant colors (Adobe RGB), comes with a stand, full-laminated screen, more express keys and extra special wheel, plus other things I mention on my review: ua-cam.com/video/Jo6C3ZjxRWQ/v-deo.html
      So, if she needs all these features there is no doubt the PRO is the choice here, if these extra features are no critical, save the 100$ and go for the 15.6 I can't decide but this is the best tip I can give you.
      I hope it helps a bit! your daughter is very lucky to have a parent to get her such an amazing device, YOU ROCKS! have a good day. :)

    Do you recomend the xp pen artists 16? I think the model 22 it´s too big for my and I would like 16 size, but I don´t know if it have enough quality. I´m 3D artist

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому

      Hi Andrea, from my experience the Artist 16 is nice, but the Artist 15.6" is like an upgrade and I like it better because of the features. (both are actually 15.6" active) also, if you go for the 15.6" make sure to get the stand as well (link on the description).
      All I can say is whenever I work on 3D if it's sculpting or painting textures, the 22E is my choice because it feels comfortable because you will gain more active space.
      If I had to choose one for steady projects (workstation) as I mentioned on my video: my first priority would be the 22E and than the 15.6" because it is smaller for my personal needs also I still believe the Artist 15.6" is much better for traveling.
      Quality is something you must see, feel and use for a while and judge for yourself, if it was a bad quality device I would never recommend it but what's high quality for my needs, doesn't mean is enough for your needs. that's why anything I mention here or in the video is my honest opinion from my personal experience with these devices.
      All the links on the description I highly recommend you to read about the features in details before you purchase.
      I hope it helps a bit. :)

      ok, I will
      btw I just watched some of your animations and I liked them.
      also, in your video you said you are a professional animator, so I thought you would be the person to ask this question.
      is there still a need for 2D animators, in big animation studios? if so do you think there will be in 9 or so years?

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому

      You've asked a really interesting question, We discussed this on my Discord server about couple months ago via the Voice Chat.
      The short answer: YES, it will keep growing and expanding.
      The REALLY LONG answer + My personal opinion + Some facts, Enjoy:
      So based on my personal experience there is always a need for 2D animation from clients, if it's for TV, Presentations, and lately the game industry which is needed for in-game and cutscenes.
      I may not be the best example because our studio is a small in-house production studio but we always have more and more requests for 2D Animation for many years now and I don't see a reason it will stop since the requests are not slowing down for the last decade.
      Funny fact: most of our clients are coming to our studio AFTER they've seen other studios demos with 3D while saying to us: "We don't find this style attractive, we are interested in a more classic 2D animation" which is what we do mostly.
      When you're saying big animation studios, I'm guessing you're pointing on full feature film production studios such as: Disney, DreamWorks, WB, etc..
      For example you can see how WB keep producing DC's films based on their comics such as Batman, Superman, Justice League etc.. and keep on releasing more and more every year.
      Speaking of big studios: Shows such as "The Simpsons", "Family Guy", "Rick & Morty" and so many others are not going to stop anytime soon... not only that, but they're keep making more and more NEW 2D Series for Netflix, and other networks which costs tons of money to produce a single episode.
      BUT WAIT! there is more... there is a MUCH bigger player in the "2D Game" which is a HUGE industry by itself which is taking over the world more and more every year, I'm talking about: Anime (Japanese Animation, mostly based on Manga) it started in Japan many years ago but now ANIME is a "thing" all over the world and it's growing bigger and bigger, studios are expanding to more branches, more animators, more artists and different production people behind every single show. the core in Anime is mostly 2D and some 3D combined for needed scenes or specific parts.
      From my personal experience, since I do both: 2D and 3D animation, I can tell you that not only 2D is staying, but it keeps growing especially because of instant-media these days and not just TV and Movies. The game industry is a VERY strong player in the 2D Area as well and it's growing. it is not just the most successful industry these days.
      Sorry about my bad English, I hope that this was interesting a little bit.

      Sounds like an AMAZING gift, no doubt it will brings lots of joy and smiles!
      To be honest, I wouldn't recommend to draw with any device while driving... bumpy road, random stops and movements are not the best for drawing on a tablet with a pen.
      But, if it is for any other situation you can just plug it to your laptop, run your favorite drawing software and start the creation mode!
      I hope it helps, have a wonderful day! :)

    how's the Initial Activation Force? is it light as feather like wacom for smooth tiny stroke?

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому +2

      I wouldn't say it's like Wacom, It's also up to the software from what I tried for example: in Photoshop I had to use lots of pressure while sculpting in Blender I didn't use much pressure. I believe you can tweak the amount of pressure in the software you're using and also on the drivers but I didn't try so I can't say for sure.
      When I animate with it on Harmony (2D animation software) the pressure felt much better compare to Photoshop. I could get any detailed brush I needed with no problem, again it's my personal experience while someone else may feel different about this.

      The pen have 2 clickable buttons which you can program to do (right mouse click, left, middle etc..)
      For 3D software I don't use the pen to navigate BUT! I LOVE to sculpt with it while using Blender or Zbrush, it is amazing with all the pressure sensitivity MUCH better than sculpting with a mouse, also for painting texture over a 3D Object is much faster and fun compare to a mouse. Hi, Dan. I'm wondering regarding the size. Say an Icon on a 22 inch 1080p monitor, does it look smaller on the 15.6 or is it the same size?
    I'm looking to using this monitor for zbrush, and loosing screen space would not be good for me.

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому

      Unfortunately I can't answer that, every screen have different size and panel, resolution can stay the same it won't change the active screen size.
      15.6" is the active screen where you draw over (without the panel).

      Yes, it works on ZBrush, I never tested it on Maya, I don't use it since I moved to Blender few years ago.
      I don't see any reason it won't support Maya if it supports other 3D software, but I can't say for sure.
      I hope this helps a bit.

      Can this work as a standalone device? The only thing that we have that might be able to connect to it is a smartphone.

    Does this model supports tilt sensitivity ?

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому

      Nope,
      I highly recommend you to watch all the video, because I mention what features are not there yet and I would LOVE to see (also other people).
      From my knowledge to this current date there is no Wacom-Alternative tablet with tilt support yet.

    how's the paralax of the screen?

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому

      As I said on the video, the all parallax issue, isn't even an issue for me.
      it never bothered me... unless the glass was a wall-thick, maybe then.
      I didn't even notice it while animating... so it's not too bad for other purposes I guess.
      Again, this is my opinion from my experience only.

      I use it for traveling and business meetings and loving it so far.

    Can you please help. should I get the 13.3 or 15.6. also are the drivers CD or is it usb

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому +1

      Hi There, In my opinion the Artist 13.3" is too small, the Artitst 15.6" felt great even that I'm used to the Artist 22E so it is smaller but I LOVE the Artist 15.6" for it's portability.
      Yes, you get a CD with the Drivers on it, but I highly suggest to download the latest drivers from their website (that's what I did).
      Hope it helps, good luck! :)

      Alon Dan I guess the better question would be, do I need to hook it up to a computer to work or is it like a galaxy tab a ??

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому

      You need to connect it to your computer with OS that supports it (I'm using Windows 10, but it's also supported Mac OS).
      I hope it helps :)

    I almost like it. but it has a blue color issue. xp-pen and my main monitor is not the same blue value . i tried many way to fix it but no way to resolve that. example ... in XP-PEN display the color is "less saturation violet" but in my main monitor (and other monitor) the color is "saturated violet". and spyder cannot help.

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому +2

      Hey there :)
      I never noticed this issue you are talking about at all, and I'm using different XP-Pen and Wacom Cintiq models for many years now. to be honest I didn't have a chance to try other alternatives yet they may be worst or better, I don't know.
      Pro-Tip: you will never have the exact same Hue/Saturation on different type / models of monitors. each have strength in other areas, none are 100% accurate.
      I highly recommend you to NOT base your final colors on an IPS display of any kind for your final work. use an extra professional monitor to see the most accurate colors for print or broadcast 24/32 bit.
      That's why I use extra monitors for final prints and TV broadcast approval.
      Artist Display or any Wacom / Alternative displays should be use for the creation process as the main task, while color tweaking must be done in extra dedicated monitor if you want to get the most accurate colors as working.
      I hope that this helps.

    • @nutjedi
      @nutjedi 6 років тому

      Thanks for your recommend. actually i'm not much serious about accurate, but the color of my main monitor and xp-pen look different too much while the other monitor (included my surface pro 3) look similar, i tried to use spyder to calibrate but i got more warm tone instead. ^^"

    • @AlonDan
      @AlonDan  6 років тому +1

      You're welcome,
      I never had this issue you're describing with any of the XP-Pen models I used, I just balance the colors on the menus and it's good enough for me to work with compare to the monitors for final true-colors.
      The important thing is that you can focus on creation, I wish you the best luck and keep on creating your art! :)

      Yes, the 16pro (which is also 15.6 btw) does just like in the description.
      The 15.6 comes without a stand like I show in my video.
