Honestly, this is one the best product reviews I've seen in all of my years on the internet. Great job, I cannot commend you enough for the quality you delivered - a thorough detail of all the features, great flow and production values. Thanks!
Every time I wanna recommend a cheaper screen tablet I’ll always show my friends your old XP-Pen review. But I guess I now have another pen to recommend which also means another video to show off to other artist friends. Nice work as always.
That smiley face though. As an aside I like how half the comments are like "HEY WE DESERVE MORE FREE ANIMATIONS YOU JERK", cause yanno, animating being a notoriously quick and easy process.
Favorite review of this tablet hands down. I've been looking to upgrade from a wacom intuos for the past couple of weeks and XP-Pen 22E Pro has been on my radar (and in my amazon cart lol). But before I committed I wanted to make sure I do my due diligence. Out of the several videos I've watched and reviews I've read, I will be purchasing this tablet in the next few weeks. It should be a great starter for me going from screenless tablet and at an afforadable price. One day I may get the Cintiq but for what XP-Pen offers, that may not be for a while. haha. Thanks again
Hey same here! I'm trying to do my research on it first while I'm still saving money. Its agonizing trying to figure out which display to buy because this would be my first one
Great great video ! I just bought the 15.6 pro and i'm only learning how to use the express keys and figuring out how to make the jog wheel be next and prev dwg such as 9:12
I bought a gaomon pd1560 not too long ago and others say its similar to xp pen in quality so when i want to upgrade to a larger tablet I'll take a look at this one. Fantastic review!
The R is a fail cashgrab, basically nothing changed. I think they just released it so they could say they had sonething "new" and not look bad next to Huion who's been kicking Xp Pen's ass at large 20+inch category sizes.
Hi, fantastic review, thinking of getting one of these for my daughter who is going to University in September to study animation/art/efx. Will it work with Blender? And for a student, would you recommend this tablet or the 15 inch one? Thanks.
Would you be able to give any thoughts about the Artist12? I've been looking to upgrade in the near future, and currently have the Huion Kamvas GT156HD and the XP-PEN Artist12 as my possible choices...
That would be the anti-glare screen protection. The coloured specks come from the slight refraction caused by the little bumps in order to blur any light from windows etc. hitting the screen. You can peel it off though! That's what I did.
Would you select this model over the Drawing Monitor, XP-PEN Artist 15.6 Pro Drawing Display? I am an inspiring 2d, 3d animator and I need help on making a decision.
I have the Artist 15.6 Pro and while at first it felt huge since I was upgrading from an Intuos 4 Medium, and had never used a stand-up screen tablet before, part of me wishes I knew about the 22E Pro because it's only like $50 more and I'd love to have 22" of drawing space. Still, the 15.6 is great. My only issue with it is color reproduction is odd, things on it that look red turn out to be orange on my monitors sometimes. Maybe that's just a setting or lighting issue though.
Thanks for the vid. I still wonder how the parallax is compared to the non-pro versions of XpPen, Huion etc? Because personally I am struggling with this nib-cursor discrepancy all the time. You put the pen tip and the line starts 0.5mm to the left or to the right. And calibration is so unpredictably glitchy.
There's the new Artist22R Pro and the site says its pens are passive and the calibration's better. If I can get a review copy, I'll go into detail about the calibration and compare.
What are the specs on the computer? Depending on what program you use, It should be fine. Look up the minimum specs on whatever program you are using to be sure.
@@nergui8606 On windows you can right click the "This PC" icon located on the left of the file explorer. Then click properties. I'd assume you would be able to drive it, as my old laptop equipped with an old 4th gen i3 Intel and 8GB of ram from 5+ years ago could run a similar monitor just fine. Though depending on your specs you may have some brush lag depending on your program of choice. The complexity of the brush really dictates this lag. Most cases a common round brush in Photoshop had no or minimal issues, but textured brushes can have lag on even the best of machines depending on how long and fast your strokes are.
Great in depth review! I was wondering how this tablet is holding up after a year and a half of use? I'm looking to buy the new XP Pen 24" but I worry about longevity and long therm tech support. Do they still update the drivers after year and a half? Thank you in advance for your time :)
The pens are still holding their charge and the monitor and express keys are still great. The menu buttons on the bottom of the tablet sometimes need to be pressed a couple times which is a concern. They're doing capacitive-touch buttons on the new tablet, so that should hopefully be an improvement. IIRC the driver is the same across most of the tablets, so they should all get the same update.
I used an xp-pen 22HD for a 4 month and had to sell it due to a reason that mentioned on 2:40. Those pixels are annoyingly huge! Its probably ok for animation with a thick outline or painting using textured brushes, but for a drawing with a thin precise lines its not really pleasant, for me at least. Can't say anything for a 15.6 one though.
Hi Harvey! I really like your review! Thanks a lot! Is this product comes with software - like Corel or similar? I have the Corel Essentials from my Wacom Intuos. Is it possible to use this software/ license on this Xpen, if I achieve it? Best regards.
If you have it on your computer then there shouldn't be an issue. It's not that the program is tied to the intuos since all it did was come WITH the software license. If you get a new tablet then it should be expected to continue to work. Cause if your intuos dies and you get a new tablet then it's rather shitty if the program is now unusable.
Please someone is pencil tilt sensitivity a big deal?? Ik it's like a preference thing but an opinion can hell. Im use to drawing on paper with pencil so like shading is like a thing yano ..but on digital? idek if I should get it a tablet with or without tilt.
Generally, tilt sensitivity isn't a big thing. I'd look for good pressure and greater workspace if you plan to have a tablet on the desk. If you think tilt sensitivity would be for you, certainly check it out. But for many, it's not a deal breaker and you can definitely make great art without it, many professionals do.
No one has been able to help me. I plugged in and set up my tablet and clip studio paint won't show up on the screen! Like it works on my computer but when I open it up on my desktop my tablet doesn't register it! Like I can see the icon on the tablet on my hud bar and click it to open it and close it but it's not letting me use it!! What did I do wrong!?
The parallax is not very noticeable on this display though it is there. There is absolutely no distortion when I press on screen and I draw with a heavy hand. I would totally recommend this monitor. It also has a textured screen protector which is also a nice touch. Not sure what the screen is made of but it feels very solid.
I dont know if he did but every other review says that you shouldn't because it's there to give a better grip or something, or its anti glare, i dont remember
Hi. I've got an Artist 22E Pro too and my screen protector is getting foggy from usage. I was wondering, is it necessary? Will the nibs damage the screen if I draw on it without the protector? Thanks. ^____^

I have just ordered this beautiful tablet, can't wait to try, it's so nice. :)

Ooh, never heard of that brand.
Brilliant video, thanks for the review. The point of view of a working animator is invaluable.
I love the way you make your reviews.. so cool !
also i think you should make more animation / animator content ... that would be nice to watch !
Yay your back!
Jesus!! this is the best review video i've ever seen...
Very good review! Thanks for the info!! ^^
Opinions about the new 22R?
It's $489 ATM but I don't want to go off on opinions and reviews as they are now
i hope he reviews it. i enjoy his reviews and XP-Pen should see the value in his presentations.
I like XP pen when drivers are working. Wacom has better software.

why does my display screen look noisy, with little colored specks, almost like when you have oily hands on your phone.

@Mike Grayson Thanks for your reply, currently I've been looking at the huion gt221, do you have any thoughts on that device?
CheyNobi I’d do the Xp pen over Huion if possible xp pen is also running a good sale on their website right now for the 14th anniversary

My favorite parts when the pencil falls haha ❤️
Great review. The only that speaks about temperature (which is a major subject, since i had problems with my cintiq on that matter) so far.
Iv been sent here from pryocinal and im getting into animation myself later after highschool

Does anybody knows if you can remove the stand and put the tablet on an arm stand via vesa mount?
According to the XP-Pro website, you can. You remove the mount and it fits a 75x75 mm vesa mount.

Does any of you here use an Laptop for the xp pen artist 22e pro? And when yes, which one?
Should I get this or the xp pen 15.6 artist pro
Maybe 15.6 Pro. It's cheaper and it has 60-degree tilt which 22E Pro doesn't have.
XP-Pen has a sale right now! The 22e Pro and 15.6 Pro are both $399!
Depends on what size workspace you want. 16" is a pretty small screen size so if your desk can fit a larger tablet, definitely go for it!

Hey. I havent tried it yet. it's underway. Did you ask customer service?
The tablet is just another monitor. You need to pull the program to the other monitor. Hope I could help.
You need to set up two monitors. The easiest way it's to duplicate screens.
