A comparison video would be great but unfortunately I don't keep all the pen displays, so the memory of my experience with using them fades. That's why I try to be as detailed as possible when my review, in case I need to recall something, at least I have some sort of record that I've written or recorded down. I would make a comparison with the Artisul D16 vs XP-PEN 15.6 because that's the only two I have right now. As for other reviews, check out www.parkablogs.com/tags/wacom-cintiq-alternatives
XP-Pen and other Chinese manufacturers seem to produce many more product iterations than Wacom, and they've improved considerably in a short time. Great review. Thank you, Teoh.
+John Matthias Yeah, the competition is intense. But Wacom, I think, still have the highest quality tablets and pen displays. But competition offers very good price at respectable performance too.
I have never used cintiq, but I understand it that even cintiq has the parallax/latency issue. So why invest so heavily into it, when you can have this xp pen tablet that sells literally for peanuts? The only device that doesn't have that issue and provides for the most natural drawing experience is the iPad Pro. So, until I save enough money to buy the big iPad Pro (say, 12.9), I'll be using this one.
Read your article too, after that and looking at a few more videos, including yours, I was sold to try alternatives again, the batteryfree, EMR? with 8k pressure sounds like the tech of alternatives have come very far, and from what I could see the cursor offset was incredible close to point on. And it's so damn cheap too, over 4 times cheaper than the Wacom version. Luckily I'm using Windows, so won't have those problems in my used programs, which is also why your article and video was one of the most informative and helpful! Cheers for making thorough videos.
your reviews are very interesting to watch because of your very detailed information and explanations about everything. you deserve much more subscribers
this was such a pleasant surprise! I planned on getting this and there were not many reviews but now you reviewed it, just in time as well. Thanks so much!
it almost never does becouse mac with good graphic card cost about 1500-2000 dollars (photoshop will lag with integrate graphic) for this amount of money you can buy realy good laptop or build really overpowered pc.
As far as I know, the "pen stand" is actually used to switch out the pen nibs/tips, it's not really a pen stand. You put the pen tip in and turn the "stand" to remove the old tip.
Great review. The 'blob' issue is something I've also seen in clip studio (and it was driving me mad) so it's good to see that it actually appears on other people's setups (I'm using a Mac and Clip Studio also). The new drivers have helped a little bit (the April 16th drivers for 2018) but again it means I do end up using other packages for inking work. Really helpful video though, cheers!
Additional comment. I ended up buying the cheap-ass iPad with Pencil plus ProCreate and....now I can't go back to using this. It feels utterly unresponsive and jerky compared to the iPad. DOHHHH almost wish I hadn't wasted my money.
Thank you so much you explain everything perfectly. I got my Xp_pen 15.6 threw ebay and it came with no a adapter for the wall plug but you explained if your laptop keeps a good charge ignore wall adapter and connect to your computer instead.

I got one for Christmas this year but wasnt it supposed to come with 8 replacement nibs because i dont think i got mine i also dont think i got the disc. can you buy like a small amount of the nibs for the pen on amazon?
You can buy from XP Pen. Usually the replacement tips are hidden inside the pen stand, or in a plastic bag that may be hidden somewhere in the packaging box
Sorry for bothering again but Im terrible at not breaking nice things and i dont know how but i ripped the grip part of the pen and i was wondering if its possible to just buy a replacement grip instead of buying a whole new pen.. again im sorry for bothering if i was in any sort of way..
I have a question: I just bought this product. So how do you connect the tablet to the wall properly? Because I'm not sure and I don't know much about cables. I saw the manual but how will my laptop be able to recognize the tablet if it is connected to the wall? (I have a old laptop)
You need to connect the USB port to the computer in order for the computer to recognise it. After you connect the USB and there is no power, it means your USB port does not have enough power, so you have to use both the USB ends of the cable.
Been waiting for more reviews about this model to come out to decide on whether to spring for this or the Artisul D16, so thanks a bunch for the thorough review, Teoh! Line work is hugely important to me, so the lack of jitter is a major point in the XP-Pen's favour - also helps that installing the Intuos driver will allow for pressure sensitivity on the Mac version of Illustrator. I'd normally be wary about low numbers for the colour gamut, but considering it'll be used along with other (properly calibrated) monitors in my current setup, I can forgive it since I can check on the other screens anyway. Another fantastic video. Thanks again!
Hi I am from India I have same this xp pen 15.6 but i cannot getting Photoshop or illustrator or even google on the display on the tablet i can see the desktop on tablet but i can't drown on tablet direct possible to give me any setting suggestion i am using windows 10 PC
Hey! I hooked everything to my Mac Desktop and the tablet is working but I don’t see the current screen that on my computer on my tablet. Is there’s something I did wrong?
Thanks for this great review! I have only one question left before I buy one and I'm sure it's also of interest of many of us. Is it possible to use this tablet as a secondary screen with a laptop or pc? I mean can I use both screens simultaneously in a way that for example on my laptop's screen I have the toolbox of the application I use (for example Photoshoo) or folders of reference images and on the tablet I keep the actual drawing itself, nothing else. I hope it makes sense.
With this tablet, can two screens display differently? For example, the tablet screen displays the drawing program and the screen of my laptop only displays the desktop. It is possible to do that?
I know that this review was posted like 1 year ago but I have an question. My father bought me this display, and it does seem like that XP Pen ajusted the drivers to use their P05 free-battery stylus in this one, and it performs really good! But, I literally just got it today and while I'm drawing, the pen scratches the Matte Screen protector, and it is freacking me out because I don't have a heavy hand. I needed to ajust the pressure sensitivity, and still, minimal movements that maybe go against the direction of the tip scratches it. It is normal to Matte Screen Protector to scratch so easily, or I'm just being too much nervous because it my first Pen Display ever? Edit: They're not heavy scratches, but when the screen is off they're visible enough to make me worried.
There will be scratches eventually. Don't stress about it. In fact, the more used up it is means you're using it a lot and that's great. I'm saying that as someone who uses my camera until the rubber grip melted.
So I have a MacBook Pro M1. And it doesn’t have a hdmi and usb. So I bought a adapter and for some reason it still doesn’t work. It says no signal. Why?
USB C to HDMI adapter? Unfortunately M1 Macs currently have many problems with external monitors (compatibility issues). So I’m not sure if it’s really a problem with compatibility or a hardware fault with XP Pen. Maybe adjust the cable connection too because sometimes it can be loose
@@teohyc I did but it still doesn’t work. I tried countless times. I need a type c adaptor but none of them work, I haven’t bought the expensive ones yet. Do u rec some adaptors?

Guys im having trouble ,my xp pen 15.6 tab keep disconnecting through my laptop and sometimes the pen pressure just gonna disappear. I don't know if the software or the tab itself.
So update on my XP PEN tablet. Unfortunately I can't get it to work on my MAC so I will be forced to send it back.. I have a top of the line MAC with Retina, 16 GB all the bells etc... The thing is, XP PEN can't get a signal from my MAC with HDMI or Thunderbolt. I've tried everything, it worked perfectly hooked up on my PC, but that's for work, I wanted it for my Mac only. Funny enough my other tablets worked fine with the MAC. Customer support is horrible and hasn't responded to any of my emails, phone calls message and chat is completely unavailable. Sadly, I give up.
Hi there. I downloaded Medibang and am having the hardest time with the xp pen on my Macbook. It does not draw as easily as yours does here. For example, I will draw a line, and then when I want to draw a separate line, the previous line erases automatically. Can you help?
That is so weird. The eraser may have been engaged accidentally. Look for the eraser button and see if it looks like it has been pressed. 2. Look at the brush as see if the colour is white or the colour you are using. 3. Look into the driver settings and see if the eraser is set to the pen side button which can be pressed by mistake. 4. Download Krita (free) and see if you have similar problem there.
@@teohyc I downloaded Krita and no markings show up when I draw. This is so frustrating. I calibrated the pen and I can pick options and everything, but when I draw nothing shows up. ☹
@@teohyc Eureka!! It works now, but man, I had to try some things. I contacted xp pens live support online and after downloading their latest driver from their website and following the Mojave instructions to use the pen.....the cursor wouldn't work at all!!! So I then followed their online instructions to uninstall the driver, restart computer, then connect xp tablet. The cursor finally worked with the drawing apps WITHOUT the driver. Weird, right?
I don't think there is a specific size code or number. It's best to ask XP-Pen. I'm sure they sell replacement tips. They usually include 8 for each pen display they sell.
I just purchase the 15.6 and ive notice that the screen protector it comes with is getting scratched pretty bad. My question is, is the protector replaceable on the artist 15.6?
It can be replaced. You just have to buy the right size. Amazon probably sells them. But most screen protectors are going to scratch eventually since they are still plastic.
I bought the same tablet as well. I noticed there’s a tag on a sheet of plastic labeled “please peel off this mask before application!” I wasn’t sure if that tag was meant for the outer plastic wrapping or the sheet it was attached to. I was afraid to peel it off because I thought it was there to protect the screen during use. I think other people were assuming its there if you want extra protection if you choose to keep it on. What are your thoughts on that? Thanks for the upload!
Huion GT191 has really good lines. In terms of drawing performance, I think that's one of the best Cintiq alternatives I've used. I've a video review coming up. But here's the text review that's already published. www.parkablogs.com/content/review-2-huion-kamvas-gt-191-pen-display
Im having trouble with this tablet i bought it last week. I downloaded the driver and connected it to my computer but it says it cant detect a tablet soo.. I really dont know what im doing wrong so can someone help me?
I had the same space bar issue with Clip with this display monitor! The space bar thing would act up when I had another painting program open like Paint Tool sai. This issue is kind of gone after the recent Clip update and Driver update, but Clip still acts up when another program is open on my computer.
Hi Teoh, thank you for your review, after watching your reviews on pen displays, i decided to buy this one. after I installed the driver, connected to my laptop, the tablet can work to draw. However, when I open the tablet setting to manage the express keys and sensitivity, it says "Device not found" , so i cant set them up. Do you or other people who read this comment have any ideas why this happen? And you mentioned that it's better to download from artisul website, which one do you mean? can you provide the link?
Look dude i appreciate you reading my comment and since you are the first youtuber that read my comment im gonna subsrcibe and see more of your vids:) im getting my this tablet on friday lol
Teoh Yi Chie. So I just need a thunderbolt to HDMI port right? As iMac 2019 does have a HDMI Port. Is this the port I need. Do you have a link to one that will work possibly?
i bought that unit through my desire to learn more on digital art...its my first time to hav a drawing tablet ever....but is quit confusing...because as i go on with my sketch work with xp pen...the pen become unresponsive anymore...whats the problem of having unresponsive pen,...?is this because i installed the wrong driver..?..please guide me...i used photoshop with my work..and installed window driver
I have a question, each time I draw on my drawing software, fire alpaca or medibang paint and make a line then try and make another line it disappears D: Thank you if you or anybody replies! ^^

Hi, I would like to purchase this tablet for my drawing, may I know does this tablet using battery or it need a plug-in power supply? Does this available for wireless mode?
I have one problem, can you help me? When I use the pointer of my Mac, it works on my tablet, whereas when I us the pen, It works with my computer... Sorry for my English, I am French and I don't know if you've understood me... the fact is that I can't draw with my tablet because the pen's pointer affects my mac and not the tablet... Thanks for helping me! (If you understand ^^)
Do you recommend any particular calibrations? I am on MAC PRO using Adobe 2019 Suite. Thanks and hopefully the update the driver to fix that double click annoyance.
The colours should be fine out of the box. Of course if you need the screen to be more colour accurate, then it needs to be calibrated with a colour calibrator, and that is extra money
Teoh, I am very interested in the Artisul stand, does it have a locking feature so that I can change the angle levels? I prefer drawing at a lower angle than the one in the video but I don't want to experience flex while drawing. Also love watching your reviews even if I'm not considering purchasing the product, they are so detailed and informative. 😋 You should do an art studio tour one day!
Teoh Yi Chie all the cables connects just fine (including the white cable) and also the screen on my tablet shows my laptop’s application but when i try to open it it opens on the laptop? Sorry if i may come across as obnoxious hehe
@@blackstars6512 You may have to set the primary and secondary display in the Windows Settings. That will tell your system which is the primary display. If XP-Pen display can show image, it's working fine.
@@teohyc I totally misunderstood the anti-glare film. I thought I had to apply it myself. Therefore i bought a matching screen protector from a different manufacturer. When I tried to paste it, it caught the original one, so I had to pull everything off. Now I'm left without the original anti-glare protector :(

After all, at 23:00 you say that the original protector is prone to get scratches. So I suppose, people might want to order a new one from time to time, right? Thanks for your reply :)
Hello teoh! I am considering buying this one. What's the difference between this and the 15.6 "pro" version? AliExpress gonna have a crazy sale on the standard 15.6 version and I want to know if it's really worth buying this version instead of a "pro" one (but being 13" since the money won't be sufficient to buy the pro 15.6 one)
The Pro version has laminated screen which means there's no gap between the glass and actual screen. Drawing experience is the same. If you have limited budget, just get the one you can afford. Or maybe the smaller model.
@@teohyc thank you very much for the quick answer! The small 13" and the 12" pro versions are actually more expensive than the standard old 15.6" version on AliExpress, so I just wanted to know what was so different. I'll take advantage of Ali's 11.11 sale :) again, thank you very very much for the quick answer!

used mine for the first time in months and I get "cant detect tablet" when trying to open TabletDisplay. Pen isnt detected either. what the heck.
Contact XP Pen and see what they say.
awesome video. thank you for being so thorough!
Welcome :-)
That's weird. But thankfully it's working now!
What size tips are the pen ? I bought one but want to buy the replacement tips
I use windows 10 and have a budget of about 500 usd do you recommend that I buy this?
Yes.
Yes
Did you buy it ?
Update?
Definently!!
Hello, so this tablets doesn't work unless u are conected to pc or a wall? it doens't have his own battery?
This is not a tablet. It's a (thin) monitor.
Hi can u use a USB type c cable to connect it to my laptop in order to avoid mess
Not with this model
i want a drawing tablet that can work independently...is this product work without the connection of our pc or laptop...
It must work with a computer. Think of this as a monitor (that you can draw on).
Between this pen display, gaomon pd1516 and HUION gt191, and artisul D16, is there a clear best option foir professional use?
Huion GT191 has really good lines. In terms of drawing performance, I think that's one of the best Cintiq alternatives I've used. I've a video review coming up. But here's the text review that's already published.

Im having trouble with this tablet i bought it last week. I downloaded the driver and connected it to my computer but it says it cant detect a tablet soo..
I really dont know what im doing wrong so can someone help me?
Try reconnecting the cable again. That's the only thing I can think of.
Contact XP-PEN if it still doesn't work.
Im also having the same issue :"
Jasmine Rodriguez so it turned out i was connecting the tablet incorrectly lol have you tried connecting the tablet again?
Can I use it for a different purpose like taking notes in class like annotating a pdf or writing on a digital paper app?
This is not a tablet but a monitor so you need to connect it to a computer. But otherwise, yes.
I had the same space bar issue with Clip with this display monitor! The space bar thing would act up when I had another painting program open like Paint Tool sai. This issue is kind of gone after the recent Clip update and Driver update, but Clip still acts up when another program is open on my computer.
Thanks for sharing your experience
If i buy this tablet, do i have to uninstal any other tablets im currently using like with other brands?
Yes, it is best to uninstall other tablet drivers first.
Hi
If you can answer my question. what you buy for the same price? Huion kambas pro 12 (227€) or xp pen artist 15.6 (226€)
XP Pen 15.6 because the screen is bigger and more comfortable to draw on.
@@teohyc Thanks. It shows a lot has support for tilt the pen?
Hi Teoh, thank you for your review, after watching your reviews on pen displays, i decided to buy this one. after I installed the driver, connected to my laptop, the tablet can work to draw. However, when I open the tablet setting to manage the express keys and sensitivity, it says "Device not found" , so i cant set them up. Do you or other people who read this comment have any ideas why this happen? And you mentioned that it's better to download from artisul website, which one do you mean? can you provide the link?
Im quite new to this, can these work on a laptop as I don't have a computer?
It needs a computer because this is a monitor
Look dude i appreciate you reading my comment and since you are the first youtuber that read my comment im gonna subsrcibe and see more of your vids:) im getting my this tablet on friday lol
After a while of using this tablet what you think? Still working? Any problems with the pan or the driver?
@@MA-bo4yv no dude its working perfectly its amazing i recommend it
can you tell me if the lag and delay on lines is software problem or is it problem of display?
It's a software thing. The delay is same as the delay you get with a computer mouse anyway.
How do you go into the drawing space? I’m struggling and I can’t get it :(
Is the screen protector already on it when it ships normally?
It's already on. Be careful not to peel it off. Peel off the protector of the screen protector, but not the screen protector. 😂
@@teohyc You got it! =D Thanks much for the speedy reply!
Thank you so much for the review I'm thinking of getting this tablet or the new huion 15.6 if possible Could you compare those two tables
+Kitchakat Unfortunately I don't have the new Huion 15.6 to compare.
Teoh Yi Chie oh okay thank you for replying I really appreciate it do you know any information about the Xp-pen artist 16 pro
I have a iMac. Does the HDMI mini display port need to be 4K?
The XP-Pen is not 4K display
Teoh Yi Chie. So I just need a thunderbolt to HDMI port right? As iMac 2019 does have a HDMI Port. Is this the port I need. Do you have a link to one that will work possibly?
@@adecole859 You can do HDMI to HDMI
Teoh Yi Chie how as my iMac does have a HDMI hole in the back?
@@adecole859 You can connect the HDMI directly to your iMac. www.parkablogs.com/content/review-xp-pen-artist-156-pen-display
My power button got stuck so i cant turn it on. Is there anyway to fix it?
Not sure. Contact XP-Pen and see what they say
@@teohyc I tried but no reply😭
i bought that unit through my desire to learn more on digital art...its my first time to hav a drawing tablet ever....but is quit confusing...because as i go on with my sketch work with xp pen...the pen become unresponsive anymore...whats the problem of having unresponsive pen,...?is this because i installed the wrong driver..?..please guide me...i used photoshop with my work..and installed window driver
Not sure what's wrong. Was it the driver you downloaded from XP Pen website?
Try installing Medibang Paint Pro (free) and see if there is any problem.
from the cd included the packaging where i downloaded the driver..not from the website...
Download the drivers from their website and try to see if it can fixes the problem.
I have a question, each time I draw on my drawing software, fire alpaca or medibang paint and make a line then try and make another line it disappears D: Thank you if you or anybody replies! ^^
Hello Sir,
I want to ask that , will it work for teaching Maths as Wacom DTK1651 , please compare these two in terms of teaching... any one used can answer my question
Yes, will work
Whats your tablet model(where you wrote your list)?
Great video. Thanks!
Perdí el dvd de la tablet, donde puedo comprar otro ??? Alguien me podría decir donde lo puedo adquirir porfavor???
Hi, Which one you prefer from Huoin GT-156HD V2 and XP Pen Artist 15.6?
Does anyone know if this tablet works with Open Canvas 6?
Hi, I would like to purchase this tablet for my drawing, may I know does this tablet using battery or it need a plug-in power supply? Does this available for wireless mode?
It is plug in power. No battery. No wireless. It's a monitor.
How about it's colour calibration? Is it good enough for a starter graphic designer to hand in to use?
Is the driver has the ability to toggle pen mapping between screens on the fly?, the other youtuber said it has but never show it in his review...
+Nirut Tamchoo Yes, it has the feature, called Display Switch. You can set it to a button the cursor will move to another screen.
Teoh Yi Chie Well, as long as I can view the actual presentation on my lap top, out of the box should be fine. Thanks again.
Teoh, hi. How far can you pull the pen away from the screen without loosing detection?
About 1 cm. That's the usual distance with all pen displays I've used. Distance for Microsoft and other other computer tablets are usually shorter.
Thanks Teoh.
Xp-pen is my first tablet, i bought the cheaper one where u look at pc while drawing. It's pretty worth it for the price
I also checked the Amazon link and the stand doesn't ship to Australia 😢 I don't really get what it means by the stand swings free...
+Lily Vuong There are actually limited angles to choose from. I'll make a separate video review for the stand.
Teoh Yi Chie wow, that's awesome to hear, looking forward to it! Thank you so much Teoh! 😊
how did you manage to get the screen to show the drawing software on the xp pen?
You need to connect the HDMI cable
Teoh Yi Chie all the cables connects just fine (including the white cable) and also the screen on my tablet shows my laptop’s application but when i try to open it it opens on the laptop? Sorry if i may come across as obnoxious hehe
@@blackstars6512 You may have to set the primary and secondary display in the Windows Settings. That will tell your system which is the primary display. If XP-Pen display can show image, it's working fine.
Teoh Yi Chie i guess somethings up with my xp pen, that’s a bummer
Also mine doesn’t come wit a matte screen protector 😶😶
wait, so you have applied a separate screen protector sheet on a top of the pen display? Does that increase the parallax effect?
Screen protector is thin and won't affect the parallax
@@teohyc I totally misunderstood the anti-glare film. I thought I had to apply it myself. Therefore i bought a matching screen protector from a different manufacturer. When I tried to paste it, it caught the original one, so I had to pull everything off. Now I'm left without the original anti-glare protector :(
I have therefore ordered this matte screen protect from Brotect, you think that's gonna be fine? :S www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B079Z5ZDKN
@@wblake1 There's already a matte screen protector provided and pasted on the XP-PEN Artist 15.6 already. No need to buy an extra.
@@teohyc Yes, but I have stupidly removed it. :((((( So, I have ordered the matte screen protector from Brotect (www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B079Z5ZDKN). Do you happen to know whether that one is fine? Or, do you know if I could order the original one directly from XP Pen?
I'll take advantage of Ali's 11.11 sale :) again, thank you very very much for the quick answer!
would you recommend this to those who want to try graphic tablet with screen (already own normal tablet without screen)for the first time?
It’s a good one for beginners. Not too expensive too, relatively speaking.
Teoh Yi Chie thank you very much for the response
what is the brand of your color calibrator?
Spyder5Pro
