There are many examples of why this is my favorite farm channel. For one, it's the most organized and clean farm I've ever seen. No piles of old equipment, or grown in piles of junk. Another, is that you're always working to improve the farm, from cow comfort, to technology to maintain the farm easier. It shows true dedication to the life.
@@dantethunderstone2118 Not even close. That Canadian kid has less than half the Subscribers and his videos get less than half the views as Eric's. Eric is a father of 3 running the farm (as in in-charge of things w/ his father) and still makes time to film, edit and post videos for us. Saskdutchkid would not be missed if he quit working that farm.
@@farmer3242 oh, i did not mean to disparage in any way. i grew up 'rural adjacent' and am well familiar with the smell and deeply appreciative that someone does what i'm glad i don't have to, and i have a particular fondness for ludicrously sharp vermont cheddar.
Cow muck is totally different to humans, Cats and dogs etc. I honestly think it has a pleasant smell (no shit!) 😂 Also if you get cow muck on your hands as a farmer, You're not gagging and running for the sink like you would if you got dog muck on you or lord forbid human 🤮 it's cos it's just wet grass where as any meat eating beast is a different prospect all together!
Eric you are an outstanding Farmer. Your family has to be so proud of you. You put it together and get it done. You could tell it was late when you went to repair the scrapper. I would have saved it for tomorrow. That’s not what a Farmer would do. You repaired it when you saw it needed it.
Have you ever considered using a wheeled push angle snowblade to push the feed up? We use them all the time to push heavy snow by hand like an angle snow plow. They work great and a time saver.
The hauling silage is a pain in the neck, but the upright silo's are a pain further down! And the hiefers get TMR, and not what the unloaders throw the most of. Great video 👍👍
I love the way you and your Dad work together so well. Reminds me of me and my Dad. Sadly he's been gone 19 years now. Cherish family, because nothing is more important.
I think all farmers, either milk or beef has to adapt to different needs and situations, I certainly did. I like those new brushes, they look like they work great. I hope your weekend is going well and I hope you have a great Sunday!
I hope and pray you and your family have a wonderful 2024! ❤ I’ve loved watching your channel grow as well as your family! God bless you! And don’t forget the silly sometimes, keeps you endearing.
TRIVIA QUESTIONS - this video made me wonder two things: 1) What is the current average age of your oldest milking cows? 2) What is the oldest cow y'all have ever milked? Thanks !
Wow it looks like hard work. I use to own a horse bread facility. And I thought that was work. I have a lot of respect for you and your family great work and show
I have a future cow too, I use the solution from the barrel to pre-dip. I ran a hose and a pump from the barrel to the pit it is my pre -dip with a big spray won.
Eric, in your last video you mentioned an article about why the aspirin before calving. I could only find one for after. Do you know where I could go find it?
obviously every day is different but how much free time is there actually around a farm after all of the necessary things are done on a average day? Harvesting days or planting days and such i know take all day but what about those days when all of that is done?
Do you have a maximum age of a milking cow? Or what's the usable life span / life cycle of a milking cow? Do you intentionally cycle old cows out every year so that you don't run into a glut of new cows all at once?
How are your solar panels doing?. Do you get a good price for per Kh that they produce? The brushes look like a big step forward over the paper towels.
dad appearing in vids more again lately. thats good :) he not chat as much yet tho. Duchess (Rip) successor happily doing here duty. I love these vids. Better than any soap opera or contrived crap they put on the telly these days
Theres always something breaking on the dairy farm. Its part of the game, fix her up and get on with it. Or better still fix it in a way that its better and stronger than before.
I respect the dedication that your family puts in everyday, labor , expense, ingenuity to be thrifty while care and kindness to your heard best regards and success.
I think the world of you guys I really do. I watch all of your shows. The only thing I’m disappointed in in the farmers that I do watch as you guys waste so much plastic your brushes you just threw away those were plastic and you didn’t put them in recycle and then all that plasty is in the bunkers that heavy black and white plasticI appreciate what you do but can’t you recycle that instead of waste all that plastic in the dumps

Watching Eric and his family work and develop their business gives this old man hope for America with each episode.
You are right but as time moves on many things are changing and we just have to have hope for our future.
One more barn expansion and all the cows will be home. Cheers all. 🇨🇦
Your farm runs like a well oiled machine.
You are a lucky young man getting to work with your dad everyday enjoy everyday and learn all you can
being a dairy farmer requires a lot of dedication every day, thankfully there are those willing to do it, and love doing it. 👍
Love to see 10th and 9th gens doing nice little upgrades here and there at their dairy! Both deserve a bottle of Clover Farms chocolate milk!👏👏👏👏👍✅️🏅
I clenched up real tight when you were taking those bolts out over the slotted floor. 😂
It's a nice holiday present to watch a new 10th gen dairyman video!
Wholesome content as always 10th Gen...
one thing I've learned about life on a dairy farm; there ain't nothing that's not covered in cow shit.
One thing iv learned from being a dairy farmer for 30 years is, "where theres cowshit theres money".

@@jaewok5G you are right tho, everything does get covered in cow shit.
When you pray for rain you have to deal with mud too

Great awesome video Eric
Good stuff Eric
Nice to accomplish items around the farm!
Thanks
It’s been a while and I don’t want made me think of this, but I remember you finding Mountain Dew all of the farm earlier on
Nice video Eric!
Have you come up with a use for all those used brush heads?
I reckon that sometimes responsibility comes with the cost of frivolity
Good vid as always, question, What did you do with your oleic soybeans you said you planted a while back? Are you feeding them now?
I noticed your Dad hasn't been saying much in your videos. Hope he is doing well. Appreciate the video
Great and interesting video as usual Eric. Thanks.
Is nice to see how clean is the parlo I'm a milk drinker
When working over the pit or in gravel put down a piece of cardboard first so you can't lose any screws or bolts
Eric, in your last video you mentioned an article about why the aspirin before calving. I could only find one for after. Do you know where I could go find it?
Is there a way you could put rv anti freeze in your sprinkler systems after you blow the water out. Just so they don’t freeze up.
obviously every day is different but how much free time is there actually around a farm after all of the necessary things are done on a average day? Harvesting days or planting days and such i know take all day but what about those days when all of that is done?
The water sprayer in the robot freeze up too? No problem with the robot and frozen manure?
6:29 what to do with all those brush heads?? Hmmm parts cleaning?
Any update on the solar panels
That is better management having the preg heifers there. Easier to watch for heats on open heifers at the farm.
Those teet cleaning brushes look and sound painful.. Ouch.
Do you have a maximum age of a milking cow? Or what's the usable life span / life cycle of a milking cow? Do you intentionally cycle old cows out every year so that you don't run into a glut of new cows all at once?
😊😊😊😊😊

The brushes look like a big step forward over the paper towels.
He said in other comments that they expect the solar setup to pay for its self in about 4 years.
Question. What desktop do you have?
Question: How long do u wait to prep cows on the other side of the swing parlor?
We never have wait. They are done by the time we switch out the cows and prep them.
How you control mosquitoes & housefly in your farm..?
Question for you eric
Would you ever consider adding to the dairy herd and milk twice a day instead of 3?
It wouldn't make financial sense but milking 2x would be nice in some ways.
Was that the neighbor, Erik? Looked nicely clean. But I bet at milking time it’s a mess. Nice video though. Thanks for sharing.
How many pounds of food does each animal eat per day?

Can you explain the difference between pre fresh and fresh cows thanks.
To freshen means to calve. Pre-fresh is pre-calving.
