Good job chasing the cow. The solar panels will be a great investment. Glad you have made the decision to try them. Amazing how much care you give to the cows' comfort. Nice to see how you share with your neighbors. Thanks for another great video.
in the early days as far as I remember it was very common that cows had access to salt stones. There is a deficit and the animals try to compensate for this. Did you never had a craving for example oranges? Your body knows that it needs vitamins so you eat or buy them
Every dairy I work on provides free choice salt blocks in the feed lanes at all times. All cows are different some may not need supplemental salt and others do
This video, it was interesting to see you learn about some new problems, fixed some of those, and implemented new features such as the 2nd parlor water sprinkler. You were able to install it quicker than the old due to improved technique of building on the ground. In addition to all of that, the regular daily activities were performed as well as other periodic activities such as drying out particular cows. It was nice to see the cows are staying cool and are happy, as you said. Happy cows mean more milk, as you have taught us. Most interesting, thanks.
Cows, like many animals, have a natural craving for salt, a behaviour known as "salt-seeking" or "salt appetite." This is because salt is an essential mineral that plays a crucial role in various physiological processes within their bodies. Some of the reasons why cows like salt on its own include: Sodium requirement: Sodium is a fundamental electrolyte necessary for maintaining proper fluid balance, nerve function, and muscle contractions. Cows need an adequate amount of sodium in their diet to support these physiological functions. Salt deficiency: In some cases, the cows' regular diet may lack sufficient salt content. Their bodies recognise this deficiency, triggering a craving for salt to balance their electrolyte levels. Palatability: Salt enhances the taste of feed and makes it more appealing to cows. Providing salt separately from their regular feed can encourage them to consume the necessary nutrients. Water intake stimulation: Providing salt can increase cows' water intake, which is crucial for proper hydration, especially in hot weather. Salt storage in the body: Cows have a limited ability to store excess salt in their bodies, so they have developed an appetite for salt when it is available to meet their ongoing needs.
I actually enjoy watching you do maintenance around the farm, just as much as I enjoy watching your daily routines, farming, and milking. Some of your maintenance solution are very creative, clever, and really practical. Another great video, thanks for sharing.
We used hay for bedding in the calf barn. We had to clean it out with a pitch fork! You are lucky to have a skid steer. they were not invented when I was doing that!
You should put a sacrificial sleeve ( I like garden hose) around things that you put zip ties on. That slight vibration will cut through the rubber coating on that new galvanized cable and potentially lead to early corrosion. Still doing a great job and love your content.
You make great interesting videos. I like the way you show what and why and the fix of all the problems on the farm. I must say it sure keeps you busy. Thank you.
Great video Eric! Always a nice blessing to find the fitting you need in your own stock when you weren't expecting it. Impressed with the repairs and the improvements. Looking forward to seeing the solar panel project. Thanks for the video!
So much to do, you guys really are busy with all that you have to care for. I like watching and seeing all that you do for the milking industry and your farm. I like your water shutoff enclosure, we used a schedule 40, 8" diameter PVC/DWV with a 10" cap, to pull off when needed. Enjoyed watching, as always, hope you have a nice Friday!
Gotta love Dairy cattle! They are so easy to work with, even though you sometimes get a Rebel in the bunch!😮 Y'all have a nice operation, heavy on cow comfort and cleanliness. That's a full time job on a herd your size. Great job and video! 👍👍
More and more farmers are doing Solar now days. about 2012 i put a 30 watt solar panel and charge controller on my dads boat lift to keep his batterys charged it definitely saved my dad from hauling batterys back and forth.
To keep a correct balance between wear and tear and maintenance over so many different machines, installations and applications seems to have a lot of experience involved as well as pure magic sometimes. Use up almost fully but don't get an interrupt. And always do it better than your competitors if you can. In a way just like in wars at attack.
We use the red/pinkish salt blocks because they have iodine in them and that will help prevent infections and illnesses but maybe you guys can’t with your dairy cows if that would go into the milk, we have beef cows so we don’t worry about it
Awesome videos. For a little easier cleanup on your robots, coat them with a little oil after you clean and thoroughly dry them. I've used pam spray or any cooking oil in a spray bottle. It's safe for the environment and makes the "stuff" slide right off.
How many cows total do you have on your farm you and your dad does such a terrific job and take care and stay safe and you do amazing job Eric and I'm really proud of you and your family doing wonderful job on the farm and have a wonderful amazing summer and all the best to you and your family. Your fan from Ottawa OntarioCanada. What is Canada's capital?
Hi, Eric great new content. The life of a dairy farmer is never dull cause there is always something needing fixing. The investment in the barns over the last couple years is paying off with the cows enjoying their new surroundings which are always clean and tidy. Another great investment in solar power which should pay off in saving electricity over the years. Will the solar panels need covering when it snows in winter? Chris from Australia 🇦🇺.
Good videos. Keep up the great work. Funny how cattle know when they are lacking something but us humans don’t. You put salt blocks in for cattle they lick on them for salt intake. You bed cows with straw they eat it when they are lacking fiber. God bless
It is going to be very interesting to see the solar panels and get feedback on how much output you get at various times of the year. I'm down in Tucson and can't help but wonder about the output details of Arizona in the desert. Maybe I'll read up about it.
Always something to fix on a farm.. Solar is a great idea, though putting it on the roof complicates roof repairs, and complicates keeping the panels clean. Might want to ask someone who has had solar for a while how they would do it..Keep up the great vids! ❤
Talking about a full day. If folks only knew how much y’all do in day they would be amazed. Glad y’all got the water leak fixed. Good decision on the solar panels.
I like seeing sawdust for bedding, it so much better spreading it over your fields and for the earth than adding tons of sand over the years. Do you use the garlic salt to help repell the flies.
Last summer my 6310 was doing the same . After changing sensor and thermostat s it still did it . Found out just in time that fuel pump s little seal was letting fuel in the oil . Maybe want to check that . ?? Enjoy your channel started , I subscribed around the 10 thousand mark keep it up !
Good video, Eric. Very interesting. I like videos that are about this length from you as opposed to short ones. I wonder if a herding dog would be useful to you in moving cows. Border Collies are great herding dogs. Sure save a lot of running on your part.
hadnt watched since the corn was just small plants. glad it's growing cant wait till the official beginning of Fall, when 10th Gen Dairyman fills up them bunkers. greetings from West Texas
I didn't realize that "chasing" those 3 cows meant actually running after them. It just looks hilarious, like a scene from a comedy. But you got them where they need to go. Keep up the great work and videos. Cheers.
It looked like that second cow you headed off to the other barn was more than ready for her time off!😂...I'd like to hear a bit more about the cycle you have the cows on. I'm asking because I'm not very knowledgeable about dairy cows. ❤❤❤, Robin
Always glad to watch your videos. My uncle once said, "Farming is one-percent farming, and ninety-nine percent fixing things that are broke."
The water misting on the cows in the milking parlor is brilliant!!
❤🙏🏻🇺🇸
Good job chasing the cow. The solar panels will be a great investment. Glad you have made the decision to try them. Amazing how much care you give to the cows' comfort. Nice to see how you share with your neighbors. Thanks for another great video.
Love the way yall recycle and re-use things instead of throwing them away.
Your idea to keep the cows cool with the mister is pure genius!
Always the best part of my week. Great job Eric
Thanks for sharing
Solar: the best decision my family made -10y ago and still saving. Blessings!

You and the cow playing tag was hilarious! Thanks for sharing.
Super exciting stuff with the solar panels! Look forward to seeing the uses they get and how well they work for you all

Good choice on going solar, Energy independence is a great move,
Eric got some speed in them boots!
great direction and editing
Always cool to watch your day to day videos. I love seeing how other farms operate. I’m a farmer myself and it’s cool to see other farms up and at it.
I actually enjoy watching you do maintenance around the farm, just as much as I enjoy watching your daily routines, farming, and milking. Some of your maintenance solution are very creative, clever, and really practical. Another great video, thanks for sharing.
Best Farming videos on UA-cam!
So happy you are getting solar. Once again, a very smart business decision

Sure is nice to see you work so hard, great videos and thanks for your willing to put these out.

🙏💜 Thank you so much Eric.
Love the robots ! they keep the barn very clean! Its good for the cows!!!!!!
Love to follow your day's work. Thanks for sharing.❤❤
Lots of nice improvements on the farm.
Never put screws in the valley of metal panels. Always on the hip
Great video. The solar is a wise decision. With that many panels maybe you can sell power back to the grid.
Congrats on the new addition to the family!!! God bless!
Loving the longer new video format!!! Just long enough for my lunch break!😂

Great video brother from the 118 degree imperial county California 👍👍🇺🇲
Another great video, I always enjoy watching
A happy cow is a well maintained cow. I enjoy watching all the aspects of the farm. Stay safe.
Thank you for sharing.
Your videos bring back memories. I milked for my uncle and worked the farm. Hardest work with nothing was truly never done. I miss it.
Y'all do a good job on keeping up the dairy farm and your fields and cattle
Good stuff Eric, you guys take great care of your animals
Gotta love Dairy cattle! They are so easy to work with, even though you sometimes get a Rebel in the bunch!😮 Y'all have a nice operation, heavy on cow comfort and cleanliness. That's a full time job on a herd your size. Great job and video! 👍👍

Salt is a funny craving. I have seen time and time again someone in a restaurant add salt to their food before even tasting it.
I remember growing up, watching cows going through salt blocks so fast in the summer.
I don’t think there’s anything you can’t do. Amazing set of skills and knowledge.
I think it is the licking of the salt, rather than eating it, that makes the difference. Even wild animals enjoy that, if they can.
I enjoy following you and your farming operation - i would like to see how your neighbor short season beans comes out with that manure. Take care
Always maintenance to do, you guys do a great job keeping up on it. Your farm looks amazing!

Love it brother TY for sharing
Keep up the good work, gentlemen. I love gleaning from you and your DaD
thanks for taking us along
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always 🐄 Man!!!!

Nothing like the joys of plumbing
You'll never need a gym, your entire day is one big workout.
Nice dry cow exercise, for you !!! SOLAR PANELS keep us informed sir!!! Thanks sir.

Appreciate the new video, especially with your expanding family duties. Before you know it you will need to add on to the new house!
Always something to do on a farm........the one thing that has never changed. 👍
That cow tried juking you out 😂

i was thinking you should do solar but you told in this video good to hear this.

7:40 'installing solar panels' - great decision, hopefully that will work out for you.
Another very interesting video Thank you
I've seen almost all of your videos. There's never been one that I didn't watch all the way to the end.
Roof screws are steel and maybe galvanized which is different from the aluminum and can cause corrosion by adding water.
👍 great day on the farm 🚜 A+

We have practically the same setup except mines older jd 4630 with a turbo and a hydra ram spreader built by pik rite
awesome job buddy
13:40 Your dad..."I'm outta here!" lol
your cows are soooo funny, we don't move our stock on foot, Bison will run you over for fun
Thanks 😊
Love watching you work and seeing how the industry is. My question has been where do you store the milk and how is it shipped/sold?
I think you need to try and run a chiselplow or a moldboard plow to see if it has differences on the crops. Nice videos as always
That's A lot of Work, That You Do!
LOVE ❤️ ALL YOUR VIDEOS ERIC ❤️
I would like to see this channel get to a million subs
Nice as always

Great video.
I love you so much, I feel goodness coming from you. I want you your wife and family to have a blessed day today.
Thursday, works sucks, but then I see a 22 minute video from 10th Gen. Day restored.
Get yourself some Christy's red hot pvc glue, far superior to any other.
Solar panels? Impressed!
