    Reading "How not to die" chapter in depression (by coincidence, mind you) in the waiting room for my Doctor regarding treatment for my depression safed me from taking SSRIs and opting for more colourful fruit and veg instead. "An apple a day keeps SSRI away"

    Thanks for this video especially at this time. I'm at a point in my diet where I know I need to get serious or regretfully accept the consequences. How this is meaningful to me at this particular time is that I've also noticed a vast improvement in both my moods and physical feelings if I cut out the processed/ultra processed and animal products. As I'm a simple kind of person it just stands to reason for me that if I'm feeling better then it must be better for me. So, thanks again.

    So true! My mood improved even as a vegetarian. I’ve been for a year on a WFPB and my mood and energy haven’t been better. I feel more energetic at 52 than at 30.

    Yes to more greens and then a good night's rest, as it's part of the health formula. Based on research someone who struggles with sleep problems has a tenfold higher risk of developing depression compared to someone else who consistently enjoys good sleep.

    Thank you for this video and explaining why I am now much happier from a plant based perspective.
    By chance I discovered that eating grapes and mushrooms (currently twice a day) does make me much happier.
    A first step leading to an interest in -- zoe -- Christopher Gardner and others -- How not to Age -- Bryan Johnson -- etc etc !

    I’ve always noticed that I always got the blues a couple days before I got really sick. 15yrs ago I couldn’t find any information on that and everyone just thought I was crazy. Feels good to be a bit validated now.

    I eat a whole-food plant-based diet, and exercise, however, they have never had any bearing on my poor mental health. I have resorted to clinical Ketamine, Psilocybin, TMS, ECT etc., for TRD, and none have remotely worked. I assume it is a combination of Asperger's, ME/ CFS (treated with LDN), and Depression that make it difficult to treat, or impossible with current science.

      "Brain Saver" or "Cleanse to Heal" by Anthony William. Both were helpful for me. Just FYI, he believes in angels.
      And after 8 years getting the heavy metals and other troublemakers out of my brain, so do I.

      @@BowenUSA what is an angel? Is it something immaterial, i.e., non-physical? Something that does not exist in space, nor time, is equivalent to never having existed anywhere at any point.

      Do you think there are real world situational reasons for your depression? We are pattern recognition machines, our brains can get stuck in negative thought patterns, sometimes brought on by traumatic experiences in the past especially when younger. Also the loneliness epidemic of urban cities, we are often isolated atoms, without a tribe nor community.

      Must be nice to have access to some modern medical screenings.

  • @RealDealy

    I think eating vegetarian brings more positive thinking cause the brain has to work much less when digesting carbs vs protein. Eating over 10 grams of protein per hour with no carbs causes the brain to work hard as the body breaks it down. Most people eat way too much protein, and fat without enough carbs to provide energy for the brain. Overtime you will be low in certain substances in the brain based on how you eat cause the brain is always working hard
    With fat, it just slows things down. Protein does as well, but if you eat moderate amounts with carbs, it helps slow down the rate the carbs goes through the digestion system. Without it, you will be going to the bathroom a lot. I experienced it, not fun!

    Make the greatest contribution to conservation by going vegan.
    It takes enormous amounts of vital native wildlife habitats, scarce fresh water, and plants to funnel through the exploited bodies of non human animals vs. Feeding humans directly.
    Vital carnivores such as lions and crocodiles need to eat other animals for survival; humans do not.

    Depression is a spiritual attack from Satan. I struggled w life altering depression and suicide attempts for years until God delivered me. Yes, lifestyle choices can help but God can remove depression giving you hope and joy that can only be found in Him 💜

    Inherited through genes? I call Bs. How do you separate genetics from environment?

    • @landphilspecter
      @landphilspecter 3 місяці тому +5

      Genetics and environment are both factors, and are intertwined as environmental elements can trigger specific genetic responses.

    • @l.w.paradis2108
      @l.w.paradis2108 3 місяці тому +2

      No gene exists outside an environment.
      I appreciate your point, though -- we know our environment is "depressogenic."

      My father committed suicide, all my uncles were depressed. My grandmother was depressed. I had a different life, true, but I fought depression with sport, healthy food and hobbies. You can definitely fight genetics. And I am also an Aspie 😏
