You are the best Dr. Greger - better than all the rest! Your contribution is immense and I thank you so much for getting me on track with my health and life. I love listening to and watching you!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I wish more people cared about they have health. I got family members going through prostate cancer and breast cancer. Explain to them and send them information on how to reverse some of these problems but it goes in one ear and out the other
Hi Dr Greger and team - I was wondering if you'd considered pushing your non profit credentials up to the head of your videos? I put people onto your work all the time and they have a hard time distinguishing why they should listen to you over other more marketing motivated diet influencers. I think the fact that this is done out of service to humanity rather than service to selling is a strong motivator for me to listen to you ( yknow aside from your content being based on facts. ) Many Thanks! 😊
I really hope that, if you're intelligent enough to be looking at these videos, you're also able to grasp the difference between not-for-profit and free. Nobody used the word free.
I'd like to see a video on tempeh. Specifically, how to cook it to remove the sour/bitter aftertaste without destroying the spermidine. People recommend boiling it for five minutes to improve the flavor, but what gets killed?
Man kann auch Spermidin kaufen und in Kuchen oder Bohnenplätzchen einarbeiten. In Deutschland wurden in der Coronazeit Bonbons mit Spermedin hergestellt.
Did I miss it or did we leave out another low hanging fruit. Sleep. Just coming off 16 years of night shift. Plus caregiver responsibilities. Sleep is huge. The ripple effects alone are significant. (ever have to read documents at 2am) sugary processed food to kick in the dopamine is practically a requirement lol.
Dr. Gregor, thank you so much for your very helpful videos. I love that you donate all proceeds to charity in honor of your grandmother ❤ My question is, how do you make yourself like cruciferous vegetables if you have always hated them (and even the smell of them makes you nauseous!) Please help! Thank you 💖
I'm no doctor, but I would suggest to "camouflage" the taste, with spices. I used to hate matcha tea, but I started mixing it with a raspberry herbal tea, and now, it's my go to drink ! try some ginger powder, on your broccoli 😊
Probably not, food it's more complex that any supplement. Most likely it's not only the fiber that lengths telomeres, but what comes with it, probably many things we didn't discover yet
dr. Gil Carvalho, at "Nutrition Made Simple" , suggests not to lose sleep over that, especially if you're on a budget. I buy my apples and berries bio, though, because they're more vulnerable to pesticides
Who else is Not surprised that cooked vegetables are better than raw. Idk how many people I have told that what they hear about cooked vegetables is wrong
Meat and dairy have proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals the body needs to prevent all diseases but cigarettes, candy and soda have none of those 4 nutrients so you can't compare them in the same group.
What about eating fries but cooked in an air fryer without oil and low heat cooking about 165. I'm so sad i love French fries and i couldn't live without them 😥😣 that news already stressed me out lol rip my telomeres
French fry shaped potato slivers cooked in the oven without oil are called "potatoes". Or whatever you want to call them. But they're definitely good food.
@@gb7168 This is an area of debate. In particular Dr John McDougall is quite the cheerleader of potatoes and NutritionFacts hasn't had anything bad to say about them either when they aren't salted or fried. Broccoli is certainly more nutritionally dense and diversity tends to be a good thing but I don't think there is anything wrong with potatoes.
I'm going to search thru your videos, but if anyone can link me I'd appreciate it: I need a high fat KETO diet because it helps calm my epilepsy, but I don't want to eat meat or dairy. I have a 30 yo brain injury (I'm in my late 60's) and a genetic disorder that makes my mitochondria FORGET how to absorb nutrients. Any suggestions? LOVE YOUR VIDEOS and great info and attitude!
I don’t know for sure, but wanted to attempt an answer since no one responded. Let me know if you have come across any answers since you posted. Keto means no carbs, correct? As to high fat, nuts and avocados have high fat. I’m not sure if they are keto but believe they are low in carbs. Beans have carbs so that is out. Soup, juices, and smoothies might aide absorption. I think some vitamins are sold as skin patches.
Robert Lustig MD said that China Study is 500 pages of correlations and no cosations. Moreover he said that saturated fats are neutral (meat) or protective (dairy). I'm confused!?
Correlations may be used as indicators to look up for causations. The _China Study_ was like a scout in unchartered terrain, it did not establish cause and effect but raised suspicions of meat&casein impact. @gb7168 points are valid.
There's far more valid evidence based science which proves irrefutably the detrimental effects of animal based saturated fats & proteins on human nutrition.
A proven effective way to cut the telomeres short, and in fact chop them off, is to take a machine gun in hand and run around screaming "God Is Great." We humans have been chopping off our telomeres in the name of God for at least a couple of thousand years. I don't guess we'll ever learn. That said, a major focus should be on obtaining peace of mind with meditation, walking in nature, cultivating warm friendships, and developing a compassionate nature. Developing a hateful mind will do the exact opposite.
Genes can can be triggered or not, turned on or not.. and daily diet & lifestyle actually are the major factors for promoting or deterring gene activity or not.

When I told you this man was only in his early and mid 40's this WHOLE TIME at the time of publishing his "how not to die" book, you'd never believe it. He just turned 50 this year but legit looks 65. look at his live streams if you don't believe me. Shocking

yes, i was shocked to learn his age. He just has one of those old looking faces, and he has male pattern baldness, which no diet can cure. I guarantee though feel better and outlive and dead flesh eater.
For those saying I need to post MY photos to have an opinion, get real. It's one thing to age. It's another thing to claim you have the "HEALTHIEST DIET ON THE PLANET THAT PREVENTS CELLULAR AGING" and clearly not look the part. If you're going to have a moral high ground, and if you're going to persuade people that your diet is the best diet on earth, you better look the part.
Listening helps me stay on track. Every time I eat steamed broccoli instead of some sugary sauce version, I have you folks to thank.
You steam broccoli? That seems interesting!
So true! Dr Gregor is highly inspirational!!
…I also make the videos loud enough for my husband to overhear…:)
I learned to steam broccoli from Dr. Greger. Also chop and let it sit for 45 minutes Also add some powdered mustard

@@tinknal6449 , oh wouaw, you mean, people do actually have BILLS TO PAY ??
Some ready to eat mixed nuts are cooked/fried in palm oil which could explain the telomere shortening. Always look for dry roasted.
Roasting destroys enzymes. You want raw nuts and seeds soaked for several hours to lower phytates and lectins.
I really appreciate the research you cite! Easier to trust!
Keep up the good work
I need to start taking notes

Thank you doc ♥️
Absolutely fascinating. Thank you!
Thank you for your lit searches and your books! Can't wait to read How Not to Age.

Fiber consumption better if soluble or insoluble for teleomere length? Or doesn't matter?
Both cutie
Love your efforts to keep us healthy. Thank you. ❤

Awesome research Dr G. Meditation deffo has made my skin look much younger, no lie. You have to feel the love and bliss tho!
Soda water or soda beverages shorten the telamir?
sugar-sweetened beverages
So, cooked cruciferous vegetables?
hi how many grams of nuts should be taken daily? thank you.
30g
Is there an affordable, reliable test for telomere's length?
Doesn’t matter about test. Damage is done. Just eat the best you can to minimize future damage.
Could extra virgin olive oil have any effect at all?
Would adding fiber like Metamucil help the telomeres length?
Probably not, food it's more complex that any supplement. Most likely it's not only the fiber that lengths telomeres, but what comes with it, probably many things we didn't discover yet

Probably not, eat real fresh foods like vegetables and fruits
Maybe, but why not just eat vegetables? You get all the fibre, flavour, and variety.
Dr Greger how important is it that these cruciferous vegetables be organic?

Facts NOT opinions.

But raw was better for anti-inflammatory. Guess I will cover all my bases and eat raw and cooked 😅
So basically, meat and dairy are a far bigger health crisis than cigarettes ever were.

He has a book about it, "How Not to Age: The Scientific Approach to Getting Healthier as You Get Older".
Dr. Mike Lustgarten has reported that broccoli, onions and cloves have increased his telomere lengths.
