Also that section where you played matches with your friend kinda reminded us of those times haha. He's also the one who saw I was in this video too lol. Glad you've been enjoying the game man!

    You have a really good learning mindset, something lots of people getting into fighting games should aim for. It's easy to get demotivated at losses, but one perfect line in your video "alright let's go lose" shows that you are okay with your losses so long as you learn from them. This to me is the most important thing when learning fighting games, even if there are struggles with it along the way. Keep it up man, you motivate me to keep trying!

      Is it? I'm not a Sol main in +R but I got the timing for the Dustloop down I think?
      (corner) cl.5S > 6P > dl.5H > j.9DD > land > j.9D > dj.9D > volcanic viper
      At least that's a basic combo I remember from before, the key thing is doing Dust *immediately* after 5H, after that you're gucci.

    • @p99chan99
      @p99chan99 Рік тому +2

      Correction, you can do a 2nd rep in this combo:

    I’m not a veteran or anything of guilty gear, I’m just trying to study the guilty gear animation style over other fighters because there’s something about the animation of this series that really tickles my brain in the best way that I’m trying to learn for my own project. You’re one of the only people who has a decent and high quality video of gameplay for XXAC, so thanks for that! :D*

    I've had this game in my steam library for awhile but never touched it outside of messing around in training mode for a few minutes. This video made me decide to pick it up again and while I still only have about 10 hours and have been getting my ass handed by the guy I play with, I'm absolutely obsessed with it. I gravitated towards A.B.A and she's probably the most fun character I've ever played in a fighting game.

    Love this. Even if it's sloppy, I enjoy watching people learn fighting games. This next year I'm gonna focus/build my channel on encouraging people to do what you did here and learn older fighting games. We have so many new people in the FGC, and rollback makes a lot of older fighting games MUCH easier to play. Also, older fighting games tend to lose the toxic players over time, so your experience of the community is not so surprising.
    Older games persist because they are just that good and become timeless, so the players just end up wanting to show people how cool their game is. There is an upside to not having to be chasing the dragon so much, in the sense that new games having million dollar prize pools is cool, but attracts a more, we'll it "aggressive" player base. Then there's people like me that want to learn the games they missed, like for example VF5 has a new game on the way someday, which is enough reason for me to invest some time in learning.
    Lately I've been playing Samurai Shodown VSP, which I personally think is the best in the series, and Gundam Battle Assault 2, which is a very unique game with several unique mechanics that you still don't really see duplicated even to this day. I'm planning on making a rotation of older games and newer ones but just to name a few classics I haven't mentioned yet: Garou (in addition to the new FF), Last Blade 2, Capcom Vs SNK2 (got that new collection on the way!), Street Fighter X Tekken (a cursed game that eventually developed into a great one, main thing being tournament gems fixing that system), KOF13, HNK, and Rumble Fish 2 (don't buy the new version, sadly it's cursed AF, just play on Fightcade). I happened to be in Japan and play RF2 randomly, so I have a soft spot for that one. That game REALLY never saw the light of day over here, so I'd be willing to bet that nobody over here is even that good/familiar to be unbeatable. Every game I've mentioned I would consider to be a "forever game" that I legitimately hope people will play long after I'm dead, just timeless classics.

    This is awesome. It's interesting that people think of GG as this impossible monstrosity of a game instead of just playing it. They really be acting like fighting games haven't gotten much easier to play and learn due to things like UA-cam and discord. No matter how hard you remember a game being, nowadays they are much easier to play, and I don't even agree that the game was that hard to learn to begin with. They really like to forget how hard a game like for example MvC3, which came out much later, can be compared to GGACR. The weight thing is weird, but it's not really the first thing to worry about when learning the game.
    I think many people are just remembering the game through loss-colored glasses, they are just thinking about how good people were at the top end and not considering that new players are learning these games all the time. This is especially nice for me because I don't jive with Strive, but I'm happy to see new players taking an interest in ACR and Rev2.

    Another GREAT game to get into if you're a fan of the Guilty Gear series is Blazblue Centralfiction. It's actually on sale right now on Steam for just $10. It was made as the replacement for GG during a period of when Arcsystem lost the rights to most of the Guilty Gear characters except Sol and Ky. I'd say it's easier to pick up on than Plus R, give it a shot if you're ever in the mood for a new fighter. I recommend you playing either Ragna or Bullet since they're similar to Sol Badguy and Giovanna. Also that red and white color you use for Sol is actually a Ragna reference

    It's always the people who know nothing about a game who will talk the most shit about it. The cure is simply trying new things and having fun, but who has time for that when you can bitch and moan? I think Guilty Gear is a victim of this more than most other games.
    But anyway, this was a really cool video and I'm happy to see that you managed to get to the meat of why fighting games are actually fun: everything you do is cool and the whole experience looks and sounds awesome.
    I'm biased, but if you can find Xrd on sale (usually about $15 USD), I highly encourage giving it a shot because it has a ton of depth and fun but without mechanics that demand absurd precision like FRCs and Slashback. I talk about Xrd a fair amount on my channel if you're interested.

    I played +R after playing Missing Link, both were essentially my first Guilty Gear games. I got Strive pretty much a week ago now for Christmas. I can attest that as a new player +R is pretty tough, I got smashed in Arcade mode every time, eventually settled for picking a difficulty where I feel more comfortable lol. I haven't watched the whole video yet but I do think Strive is way simpler to get into. Still if someone isn't sure about GG overall, just try +R, they're still similar games and very fun regardless. Very cheap right now too (as in price wise ofc lol).

    It took me a few minutes to nail down the Dustloop combo for sol in +R, I performed it from what I remember and then immediately looked at your video and realised what's wrong, you're delaying the 5H way too much, the timing I figured out myself is after the first wallbounce (after 6P the opponent goes forward hits the wall, and then bounces back), so when you see the opponent bounce back, immediately 5H and then immediately do a j.9D, try not to delay the 2nd j.D too much since j.D already has good recovery, you just need to figure out the timing. As for the 2nd rep, you need a dashing start up to do hit the the dj.D 3rd rep which is: 2nd rep > dash > j.9D > dj.9D > into whatever. (S volcanic viper~follow up gives good oki from what it looks like, H version opponent can air-tech out)
    I'm also a +R noob who hard mains A.B.A but I hope this helps.

    • @sefflikejeff1917
      @sefflikejeff1917  Рік тому +3

      Real.
      On paper AC+R is way more complex, but not in a bad way. I actually have a way easier time with combos in plus r because of the freedom of the gatling system
      I think most people just underestimate their own ability to learn things.

    the only thing i hate about strive is it holds your hands while you play the game, in AC+R there was no hand holding, it was learn a combo or get your ass handed in a blink of an eye while a guy sits there telling you to fight back

    • @sefflikejeff1917
      @sefflikejeff1917  Рік тому +2

      What specifically about strive is "hand-holding"?
      If you just mean it's more accessible and that's bad, I think strives 2 million sales might disagree

    • @hazzydahaka13
      @hazzydahaka13 Рік тому

      Force Breaks. They're essentially either EX versions of certain specials, or simply BROKEN/really good moves that need a 25 meter cost for how good they are. Currently, these are exclusive to Accent Core and +R, and I personally hope that they make a return in future games.
