You have a really good learning mindset, something lots of people getting into fighting games should aim for. This is awesome. It's interesting that people think of GG as this impossible monstrosity of a game instead of just playing it. They really be acting like fighting games haven't gotten much easier to play and learn due to things like UA-cam and discord. No matter how hard you remember a game being, nowadays they are much easier to play, and I don't even agree that the game was that hard to learn to begin with. They really like to forget how hard a game like for example MvC3, which came out much later, can be compared to GGACR. The weight thing is weird, but it's not really the first thing to worry about when learning the game. I think many people are just remembering the game through loss-colored glasses, they are just thinking about how good people were at the top end and not considering that new players are learning these games all the time. This is especially nice for me because I don't jive with Strive, but I'm happy to see new players taking an interest in ACR and Rev2.

I've been looking up the best place to start in the Guilty Gear series since I'm new to Guilty Gear, and yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about to when you say people act a certain way when you ask questions about this game. I've been playing fighting games for years but since I haven't played this particular series everyone acts like they're recommending me baby's first fighting game. It's very odd.
I started playing this game yesterday because i don't have the PC or money for Strive. But I'm actually loving it, the game is really fun, thank you for the content on it
Oh boy, Just by watching this I had ton of memories, I played GG xx , accent core plus ans isuka I played them mainly multiplayer but on same pc with my brother, he was main Ky and I was main Sol. oooh how much fun we had 😂
Another GREAT game to get into if you're a fan of the Guilty Gear series is Blazblue Centralfiction. It's actually on sale right now on Steam for just $10. It was made as the replacement for GG during a period of when Arcsystem lost the rights to most of the Guilty Gear characters except Sol and Ky. I'd say it's easier to pick up on than Plus R, give it a shot if you're ever in the mood for a new fighter. I recommend you playing either Ragna or Bullet since they're similar to Sol Badguy and Giovanna. Also that red and white color you use for Sol is actually a Ragna reference

Are you in the +r discord? People are usually eager to help Also great place to try to find games although I feel like it’s gotten a little harder as of late for some reason
I played +R after playing Missing Link, both were essentially my first Guilty Gear games. I got Strive pretty much a week ago now for Christmas. I can attest that as a new player +R is pretty tough, I got smashed in Arcade mode every time, eventually settled for picking a difficulty where I feel more comfortable lol. I haven't watched the whole video yet but I do think Strive is way simpler to get into. Still if someone isn't sure about GG overall, just try +R, they're still similar games and very fun regardless. Very cheap right now too (as in price wise ofc lol).
Plus R was the first game that forced me to learn how to utilize training mode well I really wasn't winning a lot online until I got a few good BnB's down consistently. Really valuable lessons learned in plus r, I think it made me better at strive somehow as well!
I picked up this game today, because I'm getting into guilty gear, and I want to play with my friends but I have an ultra shitty laptop that I think would turn into a bomb if I even _tried_ running Strive on it. The biggest bonus is that my absolute favourite character (Robo ky) is playable in it!
Got a lot more into fighters since I picked up Strive some months ago and this game looks cool as fuck. I think your video has convinced me to give it a proper shot.
It took me a few minutes to nail down the Dustloop combo for sol in +R, I performed it from what I remember and then immediately looked at your video and realised what's wrong, you're delaying the 5H way too much, the timing I figured out myself is after the first wallbounce (after 6P the opponent goes forward hits the wall, and then bounces back), so when you see the opponent bounce back, immediately 5H and then immediately do a j.9D, try not to delay the 2nd j.D too much since j.D already has good recovery, you just need to figure out the timing. As for the 2nd rep, you need a dashing start up to do hit the the dj.D 3rd rep which is: 2nd rep > dash > j.9D > dj.9D > into whatever. (S volcanic viper~follow up gives good oki from what it looks like, H version opponent can air-tech out) I'm also a +R noob who hard mains A.B.A but I hope this helps.
@@sefflikejeff1917 this is true, I just need to gain the confidence to ask people to play or remind myself to practice somehow, +r is one of the coolest fighting games to me and idk why I haven't just dived in yet
Real. On paper AC+R is way more complex, but not in a bad way. I actually have a way easier time with combos in plus r because of the freedom of the gatling system I think most people just underestimate their own ability to learn things.
the only thing i hate about strive is it holds your hands while you play the game, in AC+R there was no hand holding, it was learn a combo or get your ass handed in a blink of an eye while a guy sits there telling you to fight back
i think you haven't mentioned or showed any of.. hm.. what its called.. dust powered specials? which using 25% tension to power up special. dunno if Strive has it i ve only seen those in +R
Force Breaks. They're essentially either EX versions of certain specials, or simply BROKEN/really good moves that need a 25 meter cost for how good they are. Currently, these are exclusive to Accent Core and +R, and I personally hope that they make a return in future games.
+r is more difficult Xrd is a streamlined and simplified version of +r but in a good way, its not too simple and still has lots of stuff And I highly recommend people try xrd
11 is next
besides just being cool, the +R discord also runs beginner tourneys all the time

Plus R was the first game that forced me to learn how to utilize training mode well
I really wasn't winning a lot online until I got a few good BnB's down consistently. Really valuable lessons learned in plus r, I think it made me better at strive somehow as well!
Yomi hustle !!!! Slapps so hard too
watching this while dropping a post work turd 👍 Pink eye is a small price to pay for a seff upload
I picked up this game today, because I'm getting into guilty gear, and I want to play with my friends but I have an ultra shitty laptop that I think would turn into a bomb if I even _tried_ running Strive on it. The biggest bonus is that my absolute favourite character (Robo ky) is playable in it!
nice sisters of mercy
That was hot
Sublime intro
Thanks, I don't know if I can ever top it lol
I played this on a vita for my first fighting game lmao. It's like extra hard mode
I sent this video to my gf to try and help her understand why I love this game so much. 😂
I want this to be my first real fighting game after kyanta and fantisty strike
Fantasy Strike is the best version of FGC training wheels and this is like jumping in a custom sports, so much room for pushing it to the limit
Got a lot more into fighters since I picked up Strive some months ago and this game looks cool as fuck. I think your video has convinced me to give it a proper shot.
you should try one of the guilty gear xrd games xrd sign was the first 3d guilty gear game and the gameplay is a lot closer to xx than strive is
It took me a few minutes to nail down the Dustloop combo for sol in +R, I performed it from what I remember and then immediately looked at your video and realised what's wrong, you're delaying the 5H way too much, the timing I figured out myself is after the first wallbounce (after 6P the opponent goes forward hits the wall, and then bounces back), so when you see the opponent bounce back, immediately 5H and then immediately do a j.9D, try not to delay the 2nd j.D too much since j.D already has good recovery, you just need to figure out the timing. As for the 2nd rep, you need a dashing start up to do hit the the dj.D 3rd rep which is: 2nd rep > dash > j.9D > dj.9D > into whatever. (S volcanic viper~follow up gives good oki from what it looks like, H version opponent can air-tech out)
I'm also a +R noob who hard mains A.B.A but I hope this helps.
As an active plus r propagandist, good on ya spreading the good word and keep it up. Don't forget to use replay takeover to practice what you drop!
Eyy its beeg punch man
You make great videos
Decided to download ppsspp cus i wanted to play guilty gear on my laptop, now here i am trying to learn just like you 😄
I just got the game on the ps vita and let's say this game sick af
To pick up and have fun, this game is easily the easiest one, beacuse of the freedom of the button it let you press and it's fluidity
seeing your progression in this game really makes me want to drop strive and main +r... one day....
What's holding you back?
@@sefflikejeff1917 my want to get better at strive
One month late, but plenty of pro players are pro in multiple games.
I bet you could get better at strive and plus r at the same time
@@sefflikejeff1917 this is true, I just need to gain the confidence to ask people to play or remind myself to practice somehow, +r is one of the coolest fighting games to me and idk why I haven't just dived in yet
@@Mediumhatlogan it's a really cool and tight knit community, you can always find games around your skill level on the Plus R discord
i feel like a lot of people just hear that the game has harder combos and character specific combos and assume a massive increase in difficulty
Real.
On paper AC+R is way more complex, but not in a bad way. I actually have a way easier time with combos in plus r because of the freedom of the gatling system
I think most people just underestimate their own ability to learn things.
hey man! great video! heard a song I recognized (Golden by Cory Wong) which wasn't credited.
the only thing i hate about strive is it holds your hands while you play the game, in AC+R there was no hand holding, it was learn a combo or get your ass handed in a blink of an eye while a guy sits there telling you to fight back
What specifically about strive is "hand-holding"?
If you just mean it's more accessible and that's bad, I think strives 2 million sales might disagree
"this games tells you how the game works and therefore is bad"
Reject Strive...
Return to +R!!!
There's plenty of room for both :)
Looks fun, I will try it on my Vita.
That version is pretty funny, I emulated it on my phone one time
i think you haven't mentioned or showed any of.. hm.. what its called.. dust powered specials? which using 25% tension to power up special. dunno if Strive has it
i ve only seen those in +R
Force Breaks. They're essentially either EX versions of certain specials, or simply BROKEN/really good moves that need a 25 meter cost for how good they are. Currently, these are exclusive to Accent Core and +R, and I personally hope that they make a return in future games.
Damn I feel old lol
I need to see seff play xrd to complete the trio
One day
Nice clown music. :)
You should try out xrd its personally my favourite out the big three guilty gears
It's definitely on the list
YOU LISTEN TO FLORAL???
OTHER PEOPLE LISTEN TO FLORAL???
learning zato vid PLEASE
19:43 me when funni RNG man:
korny intro
Honestly give XRD a try I think you'd love it. It's the Melee of Guilty Gear.
Why is Plus R not the Melee? I like both but don’t exactly understand what makes either have a higher skill ceiling respectively.
+r is more difficult
Xrd is a streamlined and simplified version of +r but in a good way, its not too simple and still has lots of stuff
And I highly recommend people try xrd
Cool.
Now play sol goodguy 💀
