so glad you're bringing in the split attraction model. i think a lot of crushes that confuse people may just be aesthetic attraction, and then you don't actually want to do anything about it

In reality this is a wide open topic. I have several straight friends that are at different places on the scale. One is comfortable simply watching, but I can tell she thinks about going further. Another is willing to touch and kiss. Two have actually allowed themselves to explore, and I was chosen to be their test subject. Secrecy is key in those situations. I love your willingness to explore these topics. It's time to subscribe! 😊

I had been in a marriage to someone I was very much in love with for 30 years. I am trans gender and I didn't transition until about five years ago. My wife knew I was trans prior to our marriage, and was supportive of my decision to transition when it became possible to do so. Neither of us new what would happen post transition. Neither of would have said we were at the binary bookends as far as sexuality goes.
Despite all of our years together, the reality of seeing me as woman has meant my wife is no longer attracted to me sexually, and further to that has said that she does not wish to be viewed socially as lesbian or bi, which means we no longer display affection publicly.
Today we are friends and support each other that way, but the magic that made us so close and things so perfect in the past is gone.
There's lots of different types of attraction, it can be tricky to navigate!
i like the idea of there being a culturaland affective dimension to the label. Like there being "culturally straight" and then "affectively straight" (straight feelings wise) dimensions. In the past a lot of bi people, while affectively bi lived a culturally straight lifestyle, and it's changing increasingly, though many remain in this situation regardless
