👍I agree.. 100% 🌞
Veronica is on point. These employers will use the hell out of you and remind you that you’re just a number when it benefits them more than you
Absolutely right. The workload at my job is crazy and they still want to add more. I was like, y’all need to hire more people. Their answer, learn to manage your time better. 🤦🏽♀️
Lol I used to work for a company that paid an extra dollar an hour to trainers. This one trainer had a week of PTO she needed so they asked me to fill in. I'm like sure, with the extra pay do you want me to do half lunches to makeup time or just keep it the same? They're like that's only for permanent trainers. So I say oh ... I can't do it then 😂
Veronica knows
You are just a number, be grateful you got a job and just do it... there are things to compassion about but compensation for training is just being a whiney bitch... yall office workers are soft I swear to God
As a Project Manager I have bene on both ends, I treat my employees just fine so they do not feel abused and they have plenty of time to do their daily work. Sometimes we need to do extras but I do not abuse them. On the other hand when a client asks me to do more, I just say "this is the time I have and this is how much I can do". Period.
Plus you may be training your own replacement
100% true.
For real
Yep… that’s what happened to me
Trained a less experienced, far less qualified person to work on my days off & then I was laid off because of “financial issues”…
The real issue was I was getting paid like 50% more than the inexperienced uneducated person
Exactly my first thought.
Learned that from breaking bad
That sad thing is, most companies will immediately 'forget' all of those favors you do for them...and they will never reciprocate.
I once finished a probation period and got great praise and in return added more work on top of my normal load. I asked for more $$ they also said no I quit on the spot. Always get what you deserve if asked to increase work load

Favors turn into expectations. Never do a "favor" at work.
I have done favors and get favors back but the one time i don't get my favor.
Muwahahahahahahahahahahaha
@@1bossofbossesfavors for coworkers usually are repaid with favors later on. Favors for management never are repaid, and always become expected.
@@AscheOfTheLake Im speaking of Management and all
I'll do any favor for work that requires less than 1 minute of my time and can wait until I'm done with current task. I don't mind the company having that expectation, and the good will it generates helps to keep any minor issues they have with me from becoming major issues.
@@drewt1717 See what i learned is if you are able to stand up for yourself and learn every area of a job that ppl say no too and when they don't need that person no more and you ask for favors you get many of them and the moment they say no you can throw your favors and denounce doing others work.
Its about knowing how to shift leverage but you can't do this if you are lazy or not able to do a lot more and it works 80% of the time if you are a person who can express themselves honestly. The 20% is when you run into a selfish person co -worker or boss. But by then you got many ppl liking you vs the ones hating you. Because you put out your work and communicated how its important. When you can do multiple jobs and more skills and took on things harder its not ez to replace you.
If you stay in one area you are so ez to replace its a joke. You can once u got time in and don't miss days much finally command what u want or dismiss it . They get mad but will ask another. Issue is ppl go doing their one line of work so that 1 line can get replaced ez but when you learn all areas of a job willingly and other machines and even areas of your work things change drastically. Not telling ppl how to work but i am giving why its possible to do favors and get them when you do things differently.

As a business owner I would find a way to fire her.
@@jesusfranko5119 So, she could be a fantastic, efficient employee but you would fire her because she doesn't do favours and work for free. Good for you, Manager of the Year!

Then why not go start your own company where you employ people who are allowed to come in and make their own rules.
@@JuliusTurner-hm6ff Or you could just pay people, for the work you are requesting them to do.
@lincolnlancaster209 yeah sorry but if you work for my company I'm not paying you extra for secretary work because you made a pot of coffee for everyone.
I'm not paying you extra for janitor work because you wiped the toilet off before leaving the bathroom. If you're a forklift driver, I'm not paying you extra because you had to hop off the forklift to pick up something by hand. Those people can stay far away from my business as possible.
@@JuliusTurner-hm6ff I don't think that was the expectation. If you listen to the clip, it was implied the employee was still expected to meet KPI as well as train someone else. Not the silly examples, you suggested.

Veronica is the best girl.
Why haven't you? Never let an employer push you around...especially when it comes to compensation. Wage theft is a thing and if you let the IRS know...whoooo boy will that company get hollowed out fast.

These skits are amazing. And honestly I don’t know why so often we let employers treat us this way.
It's been my experience that the people they have you train are actually your cheaper replacement.
🎯
Yeah, that's what I thought this video was going for. I guess it's part of stage 2.
The better you teach the newbie the easier is for the boss. Yeah the newbie everything wrong and perhaps the boss comes crawling back. Ask a high freelance rate. Then one day, after you get a better job offer, you "unfortunately" will have to terminate working with him.
Except with inflation and companies uping their starting wages, they end up paying you less than the new person who knows and does less.
I've been in the 'trainee' position that the person that was (supposed to be) training me did a less than half-assed job so I would do so poorly they wouldn't lose their job to me. (and yes, I was being paid less than half of what they were and I ended up quitting because management were coonts and the other people working there were a-holes.)

Now cry why you get paid less than men who do all that and some more 😂
@@TheBenpgplenty of men are the same way. Standing your ground and not giving in on your boundaries is important, regardless of gender. It actually can benefit people more when they stop just doing more work without compensation.

@@AscheOfTheLake in an ideal world you'd be totally right, but the sad truth is , its either we comply to what employers need, or we just get replaced with someone that would do the same work for less.
@@TheBenpg not always true. I always moved on by my own means and in my own terms, never fired a single time from any position. Always moved up in pay grade with every transition.

@@Olive_O_Suddenyea, in those cases they really can't expect you to do the same amount of regular work, even if they will try to ask for it.

This EXACT thing happened to my then-wife about 20 years ago. She worked at a collection agency and was off the phones for two whole work days training a new hire. The goal that week was to get a minimum of 100 checks (basically, debtors paying back a part of what they owed). By week's end she had 99 checks and the following Monday was handed a disciplinary write-up for not meeting the goal. Ever wonder what people say about HR?
This is why they include "Other duties and responsibilities" in the job description layout.
That’s for their job description, training another person is a managerial responsibility and they need to compensate if you’re not in a leadership position at this day and age
I remind people of this all the time.
Then you just ask them what the new deadlines are for your projects. Other duties as assigned doesn't mean you work more than 40 hours a week.

Never understood that either it seems greedy of the employer. Since you are a minus that employee, you're not paying or compensating that employees' salary. I think part of the problem is that a lot of people rightfully don't expect that to be the end result.
Be careful if you haven't fully examined your employment contract. Some of them actually say experienced staff members will train new employees.
Yes, but you could still say “so would you like me to suggest which of my current tasks or projects will go to team members while I focus on training the new team member or do you already have a split in mind?”
@@zoecove9836 Fact, the video is her asking for extra compensation. It is not about her asking to her having her duties reduced to accommodate training the new hire as she clearly stated she expects more money for doing the training. Also fact, when training a new hire for the same position the new hire does not take on their own workload as they are not trained to perform said tasks yet, ergo they assist on the trainers workload until the trainee becomes proficient enough to do the workload by themselves. Which means she would actually have a split workload for the duration of the training period. Hence the contractual trainer for position inclusions in many new hire contracts.

It isn't easy to find a great company to work for, and it burns people out when they are constantly giving 110% without any real recognition/financial reward.

So in my field it is both required as part of the ongoing professional credentials to train as well as a pretty decent resume tool given that it is hard enough to train let alone learn the material.
My question is that her work is driving her income or is she salary. I would have said that my output would include training this person. I'm not doing my regular job and training this person, so if my 8 hours do not give me time to train and do other things then it is in writing that I will not be punished for training. Then it becomes the employer problem if they leave without providing value not mine.

I had a similar conversation about a decade ago. I was in a sales role so it is very "coin operated" and as such I think it garnered more respect than disdain, but I was asked to do some extra task that was going to take me away from my job for most of a day. Let's not pretend you can talk to your supervisor this way.
Good luck for them for replacement
Not like she couldn't find a better job. She seems like a great employee, she just doesn't put up with employer bullshit.
You are not special, you are easily replaced.
@@uhlspetznazThat works in both directions.
This is along the lines of something I've been saying for a while now regarding this kind of thing:
*_"Which do you expect me to do? One thing? Or the other? If you expect both, nothing's gonna get done, and no one's gonna be happy."_*
The clause "other duties as required" is the one employees. Veronica needs to be working for her self.
If anyone is gonna try this, you had better be a absolute rock star with your work...
Bingo. I'd fired someone like that unless they were worth it and honestly, compensation is offered to people who deserve it.
@@2Infinit2I’d walk out before you could fire me lol. Pay me for training somebody and for doing my job and maybe you won’t have to train that new person and the person that’s gonna replace me😂
@@2Infinit2if that person doesn’t deserve it then why are you asking that specific person to train someone? Make it make sense 😂
@@GloomToon could be tons of reasons. Last chance to do something decent, etc. Until you've been in the manager / CEO role, you can't really see this from both sides.
@@GloomToon you'd be fired before you came into work. Peace, scrub
I literally can’t get enough of these! Love! Subscribed
Ain’t that the truth😂😂😂😂
We all know any favors from a lot, not all, but from a lot of bosses are useless
This is the perfect attitude for someone who is happy never advancing. Also, if your training your not typically expected to still reach your goals. Its understood that you're training someone
You must work for an exceptional employer who doesn't expect you to still meet your regular goals when they give you extra responsibilities.
this a a fever dream of most people in corporate jobs,BUT in real life veronica will not do that. Veronica isnt irreplaceable, nobody is. Due to her difficult nature and inability to make friends with management, Veronica will be sabotaged and put on a PIP soon and the associate will replace her
Nailed it.
This is why I haven’t left my industry. I can cuss my boss out for asking me to do something outside of my job description. He’ll say….”fair enough” & we go back to our own respective tasks. & he knows we’ll be seeing each other tomorrow
unless she does have SOME friends in management.
For real, lol. This is the worst thing you could do if you want to be successful in a career.
They would definitely let her go
Sure… answer like that and you will be in everybody sh1t list.
Contractor: may get away with it. But won’t be called again.
Salary employee: never gets away with it. You are expected to help.
Hourly employee: maybe will get await with it, but will be first out when is time to cut.
If they don’t renew your contract, they’re replaceable.
For the other two it’s retaliation, document everything and contact a labor lawyer. Or your union rep.
Don’t trust the corporation, you don’t owe them shit.
She is so right, additional work to train, plus meet her own goals. My life doesn’t run on favors, my life runs on income. 💯 😊
Yeah I quit my job because they wanted me to train someone who is hired full time and I was there part time hahahaha.
This is why Unions are important and companies are against them : )
Veronica speaks nothing but facts on a daily!😍😍😍
Veronica is getting fired lol
Veronica is tame as hell, I was much more blunt and direct, and stuck to boundaries. Want me to do anything outside my boundaries and job description, pay me. Want me to take on responsibilities, but want to give minimal pay increases that don't reflect the additional responsibility? You can put those additional tasks on your own desk.
The result was never being fired, and getting further in life. Left the workplace in 2021 at 31 years old.
Usually training is covered under “and additional responsibilities” But then equal expectation is that other responsibilities would either be delayed or reassigned to compensate.
Net-net this could have been fixed with a conversation rather than attitude to level set expectations. The place seems toxic to begin with based on the follow up response by the manager, but the immediate attitude out the employee was as equally unacceptable.
Nah you’re just scared lol
When are they gonna learn to just let Veronica do her job and go home? Lol
The world needs you, Veronica
excellent comeback
SICK! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE VERONICA! 🥰🤗💖
"There's no need to be sarcastic." Oh, yes, there is!
I like Veronica, she'd make a great mom!
Let's all agree, Veronica has no job! The real world doesn't work like this because someone had to train Veronica and answer all her questions when she first began.
Veronica is the voice that had been in my head for years until I started working for myself. 😂
These are so good!
