The double standard is alive and well. I remember when I came off of active duty but before I joined the federal government, I had taken a two week job with a contract company working for DoD. The senior executive was so bad, I left after the first week and never looked back

I had to come in(paid) 15 minutes before opening for a meeting (dental office) which was fine but it was really bad cause your supposed to end at 5 but you leave 5 20 cause you have to type and REMEMBER everyone's notes at the END of the day on what some things happened into the computer. Not when the patient leaves. Not in-between. Right after closing 😑 I left that career cause how am I supposed to remember that when I'm afraid of my boss? Yes actually afraid.

💥Reminds me of a issue I had with attaining a job after being a decorated veteran in 90's. So many doors were closed because I wasn't bilingual AN THAT IS JUST PLAIN WRONG! Definitely have no objection those seeking the American way of life but I do have an issue with those who don't take steps to become a legal citizen an learning the English language an especially when companies dont make it a requirement it that Definitely hinders so many veterans. If I'm expected to be available 24/7, regardless of the reason, then you'll pay me for being available 24/7. If you're only going to pay me for 40 hours/week, then I'll be available for those paid hours. It's really that simple.

In canada, companies can request you sign off on no OT during hire, its a legal form. So if they ask you to stay late, you are not entitled to OT. Dont sign the form... its a trap😮!

Weakest manager ever. I would never confront a "difficult" employee for report. Then if there are multiple reports and I agree this person is hostile then I confront the employee and talk about his/her general behavior and never say "I was told"

I did this at one of my jobs it was so funny. My boss saw me and thought it was funny too because that customer always complained about everything.

Short term thinking leads to short terms results- you could do the training, add a layer to your resume and go on the open job market for a far higher salary. Everyone wants to be paid as if they run the business, while risking nothing and then wonder why they can’t get ahead. The amount of work business owners do for free is what makes go up the economic ladder. Everyone is in business for themselves and an attitude like this will tarnish your brand and future prospects. Some sound issues in some parts but in Summary not bad at all. Times without number we hear stories of counsellors, Therapists etc; who are so brilliant at what they do but they have a lot of issues going on in their personal lives. If only she got off her high horse and opened up to her employee sooner. Only issue I had was that the counsellor sometimes crossed the boundaries between being a professional & being a friend. I also don’t believe counsellors/therapists are supposed to touch their clients, I stand corrected if I got that wrong. Lesson is: Never be too proud to seek help. As a professional, you must know when to step back and take stock. 😊❤

I work retail and I can tell you these customers DO exist. Veronica is my hero.

A bad boss or a bad job either way you need to walk and let that place go under and hopefully the bad boss get one of his own and has to deal with the same kind of crap he was dishing out

By law if your job requires you to come in early or stay late, they have to compensate you for that time. Veronica by law should have been paid for the time they required of her. I worked a job that tried to require its employees go be at work 15 minutes unpaid before their shift everyday so that they could be advised of anything that they needed to know. We weren’t allowed to clock in until 1 minute before shifts. The employees only did it because they didn’t know they weren’t legally required to do that. It stopped after I started working there and refused to be there early and showed up exactly on time. My boss asked why I wasn’t showing up until my start time and I had to explain that by law if he expected the employees to be there 15 minutes early that he had to pay us for that 15 minutes that he required of us. I said by requiring that 15 minutes and not compensating us, he was violating the states labor laws and he was opening him and the company up to a lawsuit. After that, he stopped requiring that 15 minutes. Employers often take advantage of their employees because their employees don’t know the laws. If you work for someone, know your rights and know what your employer is allowed to do and what they aren’t allowed to do. Protect yourself.
