    ▶ Using paintless dent removal to take out a super sharp and deep dent can be a very complex repair, even for an experienced professional PDR tech.
    This door dent in the driver's door of this new 2016 Chevy Malibu was not only very deep but also was through the body line. Damage like this can severely stretch the metal causing the damage to extend out from the main sharp impact point.
    When we use paintless dent repair to fix a dent like this we have to very slowly push out just a small amount of the center of the deepest part of the dent. Then we will use hammers and knockdowns to bring down the crowns and blend the metal back into the dented area.
    This extreme dent repair can take several hours to achieve an excellent dent repair. Trying to remove this dent to quickly can cause more damage that will not be repairable with PDR because of overstretching the metal or by damaging the paint.
    Steady continues heat from a heat gun is also used to make it easier to move the metal and to preserve the factory paint.
    The final result for this sharp deep crease dent repair was completed with the highest excellent quality.

      +Travis Bobhead Yes. I usually do. I did have much more video of this repair but I had problems with the audio and video files with this one.
      In the beginning and end of the video, when I’m speaking, you can see the end result of the repair. Just doesn’t have a PDR light directly on it.

    Great video .
    You did a great job .
    There is a dent about that size on my Mercedes R129 driver side door and at the same location but there's no body edge line . I plan on fixing it when I have time .
    Some other drivers don't have any respect for other people's property.
    Thanks again for the great video.

      Dents that are not in a body line can be easier to repair, but if it is still deep and stretched it can still be difficult to flatten out.

    Excellent video, I have a similar dent in my VW Tiguan it would be nice to know that it can be repaired without paint and filler. How do you get the tool on the inside of the skin of the door though?

    • @exceldentremoval
      @exceldentremoval  4 роки тому

      For average door dings and dents we can gain access through the window opening with our PDR tools.
      Other times it would require removing the inner panel.

    Its possible to start hot glue close bodyline and after push? Or this is optimal?

    • @exceldentremoval
      @exceldentremoval  3 роки тому +1

      Yes. Glue pulling can be used before, during, and after pushing the dent.
      It will all depend on the metals movement and what method is best.
      For a sharp dent like this one on the body line, using glue would not have worked and may have made pushing it out even harder. Since it would not have gotten the bottom of the dent out and would have just pulled up around it making it even deeper.

    hi , i new to pdr i have a problem when im finising up my dents , your do not feel them but i can see small poke dents and Uneven area , im still practice on a front Hood , im not new to making damage cars but pdr is not big in denmark so hard to learn

    • @exceldentremoval
      @exceldentremoval  5 років тому

      +kouer It will just take time to be able to see where you are needing to push and to be consistent.
      If you’re seeing push marks then maybe try a softer tip or not push as hard. Try bring up the dent slowly.
      Finishing a dent with paintless dent repair is the hardest and most time consuming part of removing the damage.
      Just keep practicing!!

      Sounds like you have a shallow door ding. Those type of dings are great for paintless dent removal.

    How is optimal temperature C° metal for pdr repair?

    • @exceldentremoval
      @exceldentremoval  5 років тому +2

      +Štefan Martinusík I would say for average damage that the temperature to be around 75 degrees Fahrenheit/24 Celsius is best for pushing and glue pulling.
      When heating the panel with a heat gun, I usually warm it to around 100-150 degrees Fahrenheit/38-65 Celsius.

    Can we use glue pulling on the border of the door like this?

    • @exceldentremoval
      @exceldentremoval  4 роки тому

      Glue pulling the edge of a door could be difficult. Sometimes since there is limited access behind the dent, glue pulling would have to be used.
      We use some other tools to straighten an edge that is bent. You can see it in use in this video ➡️ ua-cam.com/video/hWXuHoPCa1w/v-deo.html

    • @exceldentremoval
      @exceldentremoval  4 роки тому

      If you are talking about using glue pulling to pull out a sharp dent in a body line, then it is unlikely it will work.
      This is because the metal is stretched and has to be brought up from the bottom. Glue tabs will have a hard time getting all the way to the bottom to lift it and it will stretch the metal to a point where it won’t be fixable.
      Also, it is much more difficult to straighten a body line back out. It can be done with enough skill, practice and knowledge of how to do it but again, if it’s deep it will be a problem.

    What tool did you use down the window

    • @exceldentremoval
      @exceldentremoval  4 роки тому

      +Jeff Johnson Most likely used a few different tools. All would be from A1 Tool. First was probably their short double bend tool. Either taped up or with a rubber cap for soft pushing first.
      Then switched to other curved door tools. You can see them in this video here ➡️ ua-cam.com/video/fmMC7j35B7w/v-deo.html

    What is the metal board for?

    • @exceldentremoval
      @exceldentremoval  5 років тому

      You must be referring to the metal window guard, that is in the door to protect the glass. A metal one is also used for the repair because the glass is laminated and the edges of the glass are very fragile.

    About how much would a repair like this cost?

    • @exceldentremoval
      @exceldentremoval  2 роки тому

      There are few factors that go into a complex repair like this.
      Size, extreme depth, and the body line. The cost can range from $300-$400 average. This is with access through the window opening.
      The cost could have been higher for this one if I chose to remove the glass to avoid breaking it.

    How much would it cost to repair a small dent like this?

    • @exceldentremoval
      @exceldentremoval  4 роки тому

      Average cost would be from $200-$500.
      Now this may be a “small dent” but many factors increase the difficulty of getting an excellent repair.
      This dent was very sharp and the metal was stretched. Also being deep into the body line makes it difficult to get that line back out and straight.
      For me and in my area I’d say this dent would run about $350-$425. Others may be more or less depending on their skill level and how much other work may be involved.
      For this dent I was able and confident enough to do the repair from the window opening. Others may remove the inner panel and the glass to avoid cracking the door glass, which would add more labor time to the repair.

    How many minute does it take ?

    • @exceldentremoval
      @exceldentremoval  4 роки тому +1

      I’ve got over 20 years of doing PDR every day, so times can be different for others.
      Average small dings and dents can take around 30-120 minutes. A sharp dent like this will take longer. Usually around 90-180 minutes.
      For someone with less or no experience, it could take a few hours to a day or two to get good results.
