As I have commented before, great video. Picked up on your comment about feeling the panel to determine the strength of your input. Second, you have to have a very experienced eye to do what you do. Good job!
Thanks George, yes, good vision is only part of the skill set, the sound the panel makes when you hit it and how it feels all contribute to the whole repair process. Keep well 👍
@@1st_track_dents exactly mate ,I’ve had a go on a few scrap cars that had dents and although it looked better it was far from perfect, and certainly not something I felt happy with and charged for 😩
@@barriecole2488 Problem is you need to master the very small dents first before moving on to the bigger ones, a lot of new tech's send me photos of stuff they are trying to repair that I wouldn't even attempt, the small ones can be the hardest to do so mastering those first is very important 👍
How about Jake!! another excellent video and very well explained from beginning to end and what an excellent result!! a suggestion for a next video could be a summary of the tool you use the most or the one you recommend the most to buy for someone who is just starting out in this trade, thanks friend, great like!! and as always a big greeting from Mexico!!!! ✌🏼
Thanks, to be honest I only really use about 2 or 3 tools so it would be a quick video 😂 but I shall take your comment on board for sure, all the best great to hear form you as always! 👍
What would you do if you had a door dent (on a Fiat Bravo mk2) exactly at the point where the glue is? (There is a glue spot between the door and the horizontal side crash bar and the dent is right on it!) Is it OK to use a saw blade to cut the glue joint in order to pass the pdr tool through?
You could either use a sharp bar and push through the glue or yes cut the glue away for access and replace with some butyl tape or something similar when you are done. 👍
Hey Jake, another fantastic video and work. Really love the video editing and the oustanding final result as usual, my friend. A Huge Thumb up 👍👍👍 for You and your work as always and I look forward to watching your next one soon. Take care 🍻🤜
Great explanations. I like to work those very similar. Maybe a bigger rubber ball tip to start when I can. Then the round rubber tip you used. Followed by the smaller rubber tip and then the red cherry tip before cleaning up with a blunt steel tip and sharp tip if needed at the end.
Thanks Mark, yes I find a lot of the time, the skill in PDR is knowing at what stage in the repair to change tips, because as you know, changing to the wrong tip at the wrong time could stretch the metal or leave nasty pin marks in the panel. Thanks for watching!
Yes but u did an excellent job by showing the good angles vs the angles that show up can see the work performed. Also as weather ripples through that area will rust fast.
Hi amazing work mate is it possible to pull a dent out of a bmw 330e boot lid under the bmw badge is thr access to so a bar can be used directly under is the reversing camera
My dent goes farther back from the wheel to the beginning part of the passenger door. I can’t open my passenger door. What is the best way to repair this?
Thanks Adam, yes well spotted, I still really like my Dapper Slapper, it's because I was off all last year (long story) and have only just got back working and I have reverted back to all my bad old habits! I have been using it, although mine still looks brand new and sometimes I don't want to get all scratched up so I still sometimes reach for my old bashed up panel hammer!
Mine is double this in size, but at the same spot on my Accord. Wondering if I could DIY it making it look somewhat better, find someone to come out a do a PDR, or replace the panel altogether.
It's always better to get a PDR expert on the case, if you try yourself you could potentially make it worse and then it could be unrepairable using PDR so may end up having to be replaced. Good luck 👍
Это середнячок. Вообще никакого класса. Тем более полностью не закончил работу, там ещё блендить надо чтобы блики убрать. Если хочешь увидеть работу на высоте дай знать. PS. В России такие работы уже стыдно выкладывать на UA-cam
Jake , I see you prefer using a “Fog” board verses a line board to see the damage more accurately? I’ve just purchased an Elimindent 20” Fog board from Dentcraft tools! I’m hoping it allows me to better see the micro highs and lows in the panels? Always entertaining watching you work your magic on these videos 👍
Thanks, I've heard the Elimadent fog lights are really good so I am sure you will see all that lovely detail, fog or lines is just a preference, maybe try both and see what you prefer? I just find the fog is easier on my eyes and for complex damage I can see better, although I have never really given the lines a proper chance, I have made a cover with lines on it but not got around to testing it yet. Thanks for the kind words, I wish you all the best of luck! 👍
Great video, regarding the warming up. How do you know when its the correct warm :) You appeared to use a hot air gun for seconds. As a guide, to the touch, how warm should it feel? I know that is a somewhat daft question. There is the baby milk elbow test for them, is there a rough guide equiv for this? Thanks, best wishes.
Thank you for watching! Some technicians will use a laser temperature gauge to measure the heat although I just make sure it it slightly hot to the touch, no more hotter than the panel would get on a hot summers day. For example if the weather is hot and the panel is already warm then I wouldn't heat it up before pushing. It must not be too hot that you can't put your hand on it. It's just that the sharper the tool you are using behind, the greater the risk is that the paint could crack, especially in the cold winter months as the paint can become very brittle. I need to measure the panel next time with my laser temperature gauge to see exactly what temperature I heat it too. All the best, Jake
@@1st_track_dents Hi, Thanks for replying. Some of the videos seem to suggest somewhere around 25C to 30C. Of course, being a beginner, I have no idea how good the info is. Those temps seem to fit with your words. As lots seem to use a hot glue gun, Im guessing those temps won't harm the paint. No idea how hot a hot glue gun is, Im guessing a lot more than 30ish C. Thanks to co-vid I have a laser thermometer, it even has a smiley face if you are a healthy temp :) Thanks again.
@@jessicabakerseuk Hot glue on the panel is fine, the only thing you need to check with all these things is whether the panel has been repaired/resprayed before, if it has, then firstly I would not glue pull the panel and secondly I would not heat the panel as much as a cheap badly painted spray job could react badly to any heat and glue pulling it could rip the paint right off. With PDR you need to become an expert at checking and assessing the paint finish to decipher whether it is factory original or whether is has been repaired before, usually a bad paint finish is obvious but not always so you need to be careful. 👍
What would be a ball park figure on a repair like this? ( not asking for your actual costs lol) I’ve a similar dent to this but the paint is also cracked and flaking off. I know a body shop with just fill and paint it. Trouble is the thought of filler doesn’t sit right with me as it does sink over time. I’m just wondering if this would be more cost affective or just put a new wing on.
Hi Tony, every job is different, if you want to email some pics over I can give you some idea of what I would charge. It can be different depending where in the UK you are if you are in the UK that is? depends on many factors like the size and depth of the dent if it is steel or Aluminium etc, access issues, removal of trim, wing liners etc. It is always much cheaper than what a bodyshop would charge as most of the work is just hard labour 💪
I tried repairing a dent exactly the same on my car, 5he panel now resembles something that been dragged behind an 18 wheeler...😅😅😅 zero access from behind has made it an absolute nightmare
How do you set your camera up to see the dent but at the same time not interfere with your line of vision to fix the dent? Just play with adjusting it until you get it or what? May seem like a dumb question but I've been trying and having issues.
Yes, it's not easy the camera is always in my line of sight so I have to move my head to the side very slightly which makes it a very awkward angle to work at and my head often hits the camera and I have to start again 😂 but I just persist and manage to get the shots, but yes it is not easy and I hope my viewers understand the weird shapes I have to get my body in to get these shots. 😂😂😂
@@1st_track_dents I appreciate the reply, I guess what I'm going to start doing on my videos is just show a different angle of me fixing the spot. One where I'm not trying to capture the reflection of my light.
Thanks, had a few challenging years with health, Covid and other issues, that's why there wasn't many videos, just trying to build back up to where I was again 💪
Absolutely Flawless! I started to get tools to do this type of work. Definitely practice on mine. And wouldn’t mind going to school, but not sure where to go here in the states and somewhere locally. Or how much to charge for different repairs. Could you at least tell me how to charge for repairs in case I get asked to remove dents? I’ve don’t bodywork for 6 years. So I have an understanding of manipulating the metal. Have haven’t done this method. Thanks. And Again Looks Awesome! 🤝
Thanks James, USA is the home of PDR so you will be able to find lots of good training schools over there. Pricing is difficult as it's much more lucrative over there in the USA and everyone has their own system of pricing. Most of the USA tech's I follow use a system called mobiletechrx which is an app you can have on your phone and you enter the details of the repair and it gives you a guide price. Maybe look into that. Thanks for your kind comments and I wish you all the best! 👍

Hello Jack, congratulations for your always interesting “lessons”. I'd like to buy a double band shaved bar like the one you use. Where can I find it and what manufacturer is it? Thank you very much
Hi Simone, I honestly don't know where this one came from, as it was given to me from a bodyshop who had some PDR tools they never used as one day my double bend shaved tool snapped in half, repairing a Jaguar XF rear wheel arch!
Thank you guys just getting into the trade and I'm learning heaps by just reading your comments
Your what I call a true artist..
Thanks 👍
Great work Jake, and incredibly therapeutic to watch :-)
Thanks, I try and make them as entertaining as possible so people don't fall asleep 😴
Brilliant and informative video - well done
How about Jake!! another excellent video and very well explained from beginning to end and what an excellent result!! a suggestion for a next video could be a summary of the tool you use the most or the one you recommend the most to buy for someone who is just starting out in this trade, thanks friend, great like!! and as always a big greeting from Mexico!!!! ✌🏼
Thanks, to be honest I only really use about 2 or 3 tools so it would be a quick video 😂 but I shall take your comment on board for sure, all the best great to hear form you as always! 👍
Literally an artist.
Thanks 👍
I think you're the best.... I watch other pdr ... I'm not in the business... I'm a Healthcare worker... The others are good but you're flawless
Thank you very much for your comment, I'm just one PDR tech in a world of some amazing PDR tech's but thank you for watching 👍👍👍
The master at work once again
Thanks again Jon 👍👍👍
Another amazing repair Jake! Look forward to catching up on the 11th.
Thanks Sean, yes looking forward to working on your next project 👍👍👍
Awesome as usual Jake. 🙏
Thanks again!
The Ding King at work!!
Absolutely amazing work as always 👌
Cheers 👍
Beautiful result my friend 👍 hope you are well.
I'm good thanks, hope all is well with you 👍
Like always great work 👍 Thanks for your videos. Cheers from Poland
Thanks for watching 👍
What would you do if you had a door dent (on a Fiat Bravo mk2) exactly at the point where the glue is? (There is a glue spot between the door and the horizontal side crash bar and the dent is right on it!) Is it OK to use a saw blade to cut the glue joint in order to pass the pdr tool through?
You could either use a sharp bar and push through the glue or yes cut the glue away for access and replace with some butyl tape or something similar when you are done. 👍
Absolutely brilliant mate amazing work 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Hey Jake, another fantastic video and work. Really love the video editing and the oustanding final result as usual, my friend. A Huge Thumb up 👍👍👍 for You and your work as always and I look forward to watching your next one soon. Take care 🍻🤜
Thanks Francisco, always appreciate your positive comments, working on the next one now, so hope to get it out there soon. All the best, Jake 👍
Excellent work! Great video 🤙
Thanks appreciate it 😉
Great work Jake and great videos
Thanks for the positive feedback, much appreciated! 😉
Stunning. What an incredible skill. I’ve emailed you a couple of photos of some ripples I’ve got. I don’t mind travelling to you given this quality!
Top work that. Thanks for sharing your skill
Tnx, buddy, for your hard work!
wow well done mate looks awesome
Thanks 👍
Great job Jake. 👍

Hi amazing work mate is it possible to pull a dent out of a bmw 330e boot lid under the bmw badge is thr access to so a bar can be used directly under is the reversing camera
Some nasty ‘scrunch’ very well dealt with as usual, always find Skoda metal nice to work with…
Thanks, yes this type of steel can be quite forgiving and can be a pleasure to work on unlike some other cars I won't mention. 👍
Any vids of the front edge of the hood that's been slightly bent downward making a crease?
My dent goes farther back from the wheel to the beginning part of the passenger door. I can’t open my passenger door. What is the best way to repair this?
Excelente trabajo 😊
Great repair and video as usual Jake what’s happened with your dapper slapper noticed ur not using for the last couple of videos.
Good luck 👍
Awesome work👍
Just thinking about all the patience this requires makes me itchy.
Amazing work
UA-cam

How do you know when its the correct warm :)
You appeared to use a hot air gun for seconds.
@@1st_track_dents Hi,
Thanks for replying.
Thanks to co-vid I have a laser thermometer, it even has a smiley face if you are a healthy temp :)
Thanks again.
Geniooooo , saludos desde Argentina !!!
*Nice......Flawless as always.*
Thanks 😎
Amazing how the taps just brig it all together. It's as if the molecules of the metal are responding to the vibrations.
As always a brilliant job. Where have you been?
Thanks, had a few challenging years with health, Covid and other issues, that's why there wasn't many videos, just trying to build back up to where I was again 💪
i have a remarkably similar dent so thanks for posting
Awesomeness jake boss 💕💞 Lord Almighty bless you buddy
Thanks 👍
@@1st_track_dents Thanks Bud really appreciate the info. And I’ll definitely look into the app for sure. Lol it was suppose to say, “I Did Bodywork”. Haha. It’s definitely an art form for sure. Thanks a lot for replying I really appreciate it! If I have any more questions or concerns would you mind if I messaged? 🤝
@@jamesbarlowjr.3762 No problem, sorry for the delay in my response, I get so many comments and messages and your one got held for review by the UA-cam bots for some reason. Yes definitely look into the app. If you have any questions, that's fine, I may struggle to answer quickly as things get very hectic, but I will try my best 👍

So, is this guy an ACTUAL Wizard, or what?!
I'm sure if you look online with the big dent companies you will find something similar.
@@1st_track_dents hallo Jake, thank you very much for your answer. God job
