LYRICS
Freedom found me
When I first heard the Beatles sing
Music surrounding me
Church bells start to ring
I stole my daddy’s vinyl
And burned that needle out
Jimi, Janis and Morrison
A garden full of sound
I sold my car for an old guitar
And set out on the road
My mama cried as she waved goodbye
Praying for my soul
In Rock and Roll Heaven
The great gig in the sky
Gotta make it to twenty-seven
Before I die
In rock and roll heaven
Couldn’t get more high
Gotta take what you’ve been given
And just fly
Well I learned a long long time ago
That life is like a song
And the music goes on playing
Even after you are gone
But to live so fast just to die so young
I hope you found some peace
Everything I am today
Is what you made of me
In Rock and Roll Heaven
The great gig in the sky
Gotta make it to twenty-seven
Before I die
In rock and roll heaven
Couldn’t get more high
Gotta take what you’ve been given
And just fly
People come and go but deep down I know
We’ll meet again some day
In Rock and Roll Heaven
The great gig in the sky
Thought I was done livin
But I’ll survive
In rock and roll heaven
Couldn’t get more high
Gotta take what you’ve been given
And just fly

“Thought I was done living, but I’ll survive”
Wow. She really made it out for all of us. This is their best album yet. These new songs give me such a comfort I can’t even describe.
My fav line form the album, knowing what Taylor has been through. Its her ive made it out of the darkness moment
@@realcrunchy6572 what has she been trough im curious now :/
@@xxcorvoxxx_x1959 TPR were touring with Soundgarden when Chris, Taylor's idol and mentor, took his own life. She started abusing substances and fell in a depression, and as she was recovering, Kato Khandwala, the band's friend and producer of all their albums, died in a motorcycle accident. Taylor got even worse, and she's gone on record saying that the only thing that made her decide to live on was to write this album, which ended up curing her demons.
There aren't many people out these days who write THIS kind of quality songs. Thanks so much for making this album!!
Can you name them for me?out of curiosity
It's chillgenre
U gotta be kidding me, that's not true 🤟🤟🤟🐧
@@GTABrother1 Well if you know other bands who write this kind of quality roc songs i'd love to know!😎
@@stephan9844 there´s plenty probably some won´t like Silent Theory, Greta Van Fleet, Threering, The Amity Affliction, Black Veil Brides, The 69 Eyes, Corey Taylor, Raised Fist, Accept and so on, the list becomes long. But above all of it, it´s a phenomenal album and one of my favorite bands, can´t wait to hear more. Rock On!#!
I'm just happy she gave herself two more years in this song than in 25. But hey Taylor and gang? We'd kind of like you to keep rocking for a long time.
So cute! She is singing about all the bands I grew up hearing. I am almost 70. I love when younger generations love the same music.
Great music just passes down from generation to the next if the parents do their job :)
@@georgepatton6195 well...i love 70s and 80s music and it's not pass by my family...
"Got to make it to 27, before I die" hits even harder when you know first realize she is 27 right now and knowing what she went through these past years following the deaths of Chris Cornell and Kato (their producer). This quote explainins just how much of a rebirth the album and this song especially is for her and the band. "That (Katos death) was really the nail in the coffin for me, I went into this very, very dark place of just depression and substance abuse… I didn’t really know how to get out of it, and I didn’t know if I wanted to. I hit a point where I kind of just gave up on everything, I gave up on life, I didn’t see the point anymore… It was rock’n’roll that really saved my life.”
Not to mention all the rock greats that died at 27
@@galenhoffmanjr6219 Exactly what i was going to point out.
I lmew about chros Cornell not about Kato
In interview they say two deaths didn't know that one
Love her too
And we are all better people for rock n roll saving her life, because it brought us this top notch album.
I'm literally crying, I've been following you and the guys since I'm 13, I really thought I was gonna die of depression thanks to Bipolarity, just like you I found myself in writing, I'm a writer. I remember nobody heard me when I said you were more than big, that you'll be legend, cause I saw that potential and with this song I confirmed those thoughts. I'm 22 today, I survived
Same. Since I was 15. Now 24
I been following them since 2013/2014/2015 (but the dates are blurring to me I was much younger than now ,I'm 16now)
what do you write
@@naomiyilak7959 about introspection and healing, I'm a medicine student so I include a lot of mental diseases and how they work in a family system / relationships, and the co relation with the mystical world /view
@@JM-et8yf That's really interesting and its cool that you found inspiration from TPR. I'm sure you'll do great and I look forward to reading your work.
this would have been an ANTHEM in the 70’s the hayday of rock i can just see a stadium of people singing this in unison
This is how you write quality rock music. The Chris Cornell influence is heavy on this one. Love it.
I love this song. It has a “country/folk” vibe while still being very rock and roll. Which reminds me of Neil Young. And also her vocals remind me of a cross between Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell because of the delivery but not necessarily because she sounds directly like either. I guess what I am trying to say is it sounds like a classic rock/country-folk/grunge song all rolled into one and I love it.
Rock fits perfectly with other music genre ❤
If there is a bad or even a so-so track on this album, I'm not finding it. If there is justice in the world, the Grammy rumors should start soon.
Arguably the best song of the album. She got a god tier writing skills.
Haklısın Eyüp usta
This will be classic!!
Çok haklısın
haklısın
This song and Harley Darling made me cry 😭... the emotions and Taylor’s voice are a match made in heaven!!!
A new classic rock anthem was born! Imagine this as the last song on a stadium concert...pure beauty
Love the references to the greats! The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, the "Forever 27 Club" - (RIP Jimi, Janis, Jim, Kurt ETC.).
Lyrical references - "The great gig in the sky" - Pink Floyd song, "Couldn't get more high" - possibly a reference to lyrics from The Doors - "Light My Fire." I love everything about this song.
Definitely the best track on the CD, (of what's been posted so far). Love Death by Rock n Roll too, but that song seems out of place to the rest of the CD, a purposeful single.
Yeah, and "a Garden full of sound" is also most definitely a reference to Chris Cornell and his old band Soundgarden. I also read an interview with Taylor where she said listening to a beatles album was one of the things that helped her up and out from her very dark past few years.
I also wondered if "take what you've been given, and just fly" is a nod to Pearl Jam's Given to Fly...
@@katrina1627 Very likely, "The great gig in the sky" is another Pink Floyd song and "Could't get more high" is very close to the line "Girl, we couldn't get much higher" from "Light my fire" by The doors. There are lots of references and the song is such a wonderful love letter to the rock legends of old.
@@criwall I love all the references. A beautiful tribute to the artists that have influenced their band.
I'm prob on the "older" side of the fanbase for this band, but FFS is this a great song! While it's not a sad song, the emotion it conveys and the conviction in TM's voice did bring a tear to my eye. Really hoping this is the album that puts the PR over the top & gets them the attention they've long deserved.
Same. I first saw them in 2011. It's been 10 years. Such a change and improvement. All their songs mean something.
I'm 59 and I LOVE The Pretty Reckless!!! 🥰

Love the reference to Soundgarden!
“A Garden full of sound”
RIP Chris! 💔✊🏽
"A garden full of sound"... Rip Chris
I didnt get the reference til now.....wow !
Hey thank you for including Jimi Jamison in this song. He never got the recognition he deserved while on earth.
In rock and roll heaven
The great gig in the sky
Thought I was done livin' but I'll survive
True music for the soul.
I hope this goes down at one of not only TPR's best songs but also one of the best classic rock songs of this era.
TPR's ballads are something else. 🤟🏻
From another world for sure
The experience that this song and all the others on the album bring us is that it has become gold. In fact, Taylor Momsen has matured her voice, her songwriting and her way of making music, an album like this in such a twisted and insane moment like the one we are living in, her music touches us and has such a rich ideology, she is so young and manages to be mature to the point of being an artist that can't be found in today's, or yesterday's, days... if she had been in the 70's/80's/90's she would be an ICON. But she came after all the icons left, to become unique and start and spread the flame of rock n roll, that is forgotten but about to get warmed up. This woman is the most genuine movement of freedom, power and rock n roll

A garden full of sound...
Chris smiled on that, for sure.
Raise a glass to all the amazing musicians that have left us, but left us with a lot of their music to keep us going.
A garden full of sound 😢
I was today years old when I realized DXRNR on the stone is Death By Rock'n'Roll
Did you know on the photo of her and the bike, the gas tank says Harley Darling?
This is one of the songs that makes me want to say. "This song is wrote just for me"
And this right here is my favourite song in the album. I love the respect for the artists that inspired them. And though it talks about people that died young, love the feeling of hope at the end with "I'll survive".
This will be played at my funeral🤘🙏
Mine as well
What a beautiful way to honor those that came before. Walking in the shoes of giants, and taking strides.
I am 67. I remember when I first heard Guns and Roses when Appetite for Destruction came out. Little did I know then that no other rock would excite me again, until now. And Taylor and TPR are a big part of that, along with all-female bands from places like Japan and Mexico. I am glad that I lived to see this.
True rock band! Great ballad, great song, great Taylor Momsen!
This song both breaks my heart AND heals it at the same time
This band is the best at this moment by world
I'll be drowning in this album until I fall asleep
Shit, my eyes are sweating...
Blow on them
Million times thumbs up! This is not just the highlight of this entire album, it's one of the best songs from Taylor, ever. There's so much sadness, hope, history, memories, longing, and love in this song, all wrapped up into one. It starts from all the memories and sadness, pain and darkness, and turns into this amazing beautiful strength at the end when she says "but I'll survive". It's so so powerful and beautiful. ❤️And this song came to me just when I needed it so bad. After having been in a dark place, I feel like this song wraps all that up and gives me so much strength. Thank you so much for this, Taylor!
I'm not crying, I just got emotion stuck in my eyes 😭
This is a really solid album.. I haven't really listened to TPR much before this came out, but I'm impressed..
Pretty sure she'd remember Chris on this one.
"A garden full of sound" yeah, that is definitely a reference to Soundgarden.
This is the ultimate dad rock song
I can feel the dad vibe and I'm lovin' it.
Eh, dad rock to me is more like Bon Jovi, Boston. This sounds more like folk rock in the vein of Heart
There should be a music video for this song. It has such a beautiful message.
Sounds like a classic rock song... very fitting!
The Beatles... Jimi, Janis, and Morrison! This song is so beautiful and poetic with all the references it is filled with; not to mention the emotion that is put into it!
Taylor should get the recognition that Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande get. This woman has more talent than those 3 combined
Give it time, each album makes bigger waves than the last, and it's happening organically instead of backed by a pop machine.
Damn right!
Ari's exceptionally talented
Let's not bring others down to bring her up.
Let's not bring women up by tearing other women down. I'm sure Taylor wouldn't appreciate that:)
In rock and roll heaven
The great gig in the sky
Gotta make it to 27 before I die
I have yet to experience a song pulling me in like this one has. I was not familiar with Taylor prior to her performance on Kelly Clarkston. I am also fortunate to have never experienced depression, but my brother and mom did, and sadly they are now gone- way too young. Purposeful lyrics, a hynotizeing voice, and a perfect rock/country blend. Cant beat it!❤
Cheers from Russia! We love you!
This my favorite song of the album... It is everything that music is supposed to be - lyrics, story, melody, feeling. Thank you TPR!
This song reminds me of who you selling for, but this one is with more chris cornell vibes 💜
Kurt. he’s all i can see when i listen to this.
He probably would have loved her so fucking much
@@evflyleaf No doubt. He would've been a big supporter of Taylor and her writing ability.

I can relate so much to this song aaahhh, it's like my heart is pumping more blood now. I live for songs like this. 💖
This song is so amazing, it touches you in everywhere. You can't help but feel when you listen to this song. TPR well done, hats off to you my friends
This is my personal favorite on the album. It is a beautiful, heavy masterpiece.
This album was so on par with their best work. I honestly did not know if they could pull it off again. They're setting the bar high. 👏 👏 👏
This album really makes me feel so young again jeez. They are so good thank god for rock n roll. I feel like I'm 16 all over again listening to classic rock. But it's new songs!
She a badass, she rocks and love her music .love all of her songs and was excited to hear all of them lol .but this one is definitely my favorite one .
This album was just what I needed. Pure rock.
This song is like describe of my childhood. Stolen grandfather vinyls are hanging on the wall, my love for music been found really lon long time ago. I had really rock n roll childhood. This song is giving me so many good chills, vibes and flashbacks from the childhood. Father tought me how to play guitar and music is all around me. I love this song as it's so emotional to me. And it's pops out in my birthday. I just love it!
Thanks for being part of my life since 2011. Ten years. I'm 25 now. My teenage and adult years were (partly) made throught your songs.
each of your songs is extraordinarily beautiful, and your voice cannot be compared to anyone 😍
That song made me cry, it's my favorite! 🖤🇧🇷
Honestly my greatest goal in life is to be a rockstar that lives to be 28. Janis, Morrison, and cobain are some of my favorite musicians and why I wanna do it, but I want to do what they couldn't I want to live to 28 even though a lot of times it seems impossible
What a great song. Congratulations from Brazil.
I love all the songs in the album but my top three :
1. Death by Rock and Roll
2. Rock and Roll Heaven
3. And So It went
Absolute favourites 🤘❤️🤘
The best album of 2021
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever
We are an alternative metal band and The Pretty Reckless is one of our biggest influences. So we made a cover version of the song "25" accompanied by a clip. Check now on our channel.
I really can't think of one song that I don't like.

However The Pretty Reckless,
I really can't say that.
I love them all all the way
