This bee rescue was done on April 10th 2019 in Perkinston Mississippi. I'm glad I recorded where I put these bees because I couldn't remember where I got the bees that I put in the Ceracell equipment until I started editing this video. They have been a beekeeper's dream. They are very productive and seem to have no attitude unless I slide the hive across the stand. At that point they act like a spoiled two year old and start throwing things. I slid them over to make room one day when I was dropping off another group of bees. I didn't have any protection on and they tagged me in the head a few times.
This job is one that I expected to show up at and have to reschedule to come back with breaking tools. I was very happy to find this colony just hanging from the chimney cap. It was a fairly easy hive removal and I think I was only at the location for about three hours. That did include some visitation time.
This was a second colony to occupy this chimney. What I didn't show in video was that there had previously bee comb built on the bottom of the chimney cap but it had fallen down the chimney. You may be able to see it in the video when I show down the chimney. This chimney goes to a fire place that is blocked off and no longer used so they could have built a big hive in there, then if anyone ever lit a fire in there again it could have been a bad scene.

Hey my mans, Purchase some of those motion activated cameras deer hunters use to keep an eye on your hives away from home. Catch a face or a license plate and that's all you need to catch those asshats in the act.
Hey just wanted to say hey and I really enjoy watching your videos. And I got some bees out of a chimney a while back. But I do have a question. I did a cut out under a house. The bees was very gentle and got them home put them in a 10 frame box. Kept them at my house they was doing good. But I moved them about 7 or 8 miles down the road to a buddy's house he has about 40 acres of good land. But when I moved them they become very very aggressive every time I would try to check them or anything they would seriously attack me all o have OS a face Vail and gloves to wear. But my question is what could have happened to make them act like that. Any possibility answers would help and what can I do to calm them down
Could be a lack of resources in the area or other colonies close by that are bothering them which would also be a symptom of lack of resources.
I hate wasps they hav always stung me even when I stay still, they just like my smell, and this has made me not like bees also, but I know we need them for all life ... but I like these video and the bloke who does it, he seems sound, not right when any1 takes your stuff,
Don't hold it against the honey bees that those flying assholes want a pound of flesh. My girls are so gentle. The only time I have got stung is if I accidentally laid my hands or arm on one. And even then not a guarantee of a sting.

I've been watching this channel on and off for say 3 month's, I hat wasps and because of experiences with wasps as a kid I hate run like a nut job waving my arms all over to myself, anyway so went off track there, was there doesn't seem to be many videos comin, just wondered as the removals are great.. this man is a G way he just dives in now bother.. awesome video,s

Like that one story of those kids, a while back whipping out a bee farm for fun. Then that one farm that lost half a million bees over some vandalism as well. It's not uncommon just not reported by news sources all that much.
I'm REALLY angry someone destroyed that hive! I hope he got stung up all over doing that!

Hi Randy- Just a quick note of thanks for going the extra mile to share your journey on UA-cam. After watching hours of your content, along with Mr. Ed’s channel - you gave me the knowledge and confidence to do a removal yesterday that will go down in history as one of the toughest, most fulfilling things I have done. Crazy thing is- I have never kept bees, and started like this. I guess the hard way. :). But- I now have a massive colony of wild bees (that are still pretty mean) in my yard that I EARNED. Ha! I look forward to learning more and watching your channel. Have an amazing week- Gods blessings to you and your family. It’s clear you love your wife dearly, and she thinks you’re a little crazy. #1. I’m about your size. Do you read and pay attention to the rating on the ladders you climb? You’d better start my friend if you don’t. #2. You folks work too hard to get and run your operation to have some mouth breather tear up and destroy your stuff. You need fences, gates, roving watchmen, or motion lights.
Yep, I only climb my own ladders. I exceed the rating on them but they've been tested many many times.
Being on the roof is tough. We did one on a steep roof last year, never again! Randy, I am really concerned for your health. You were wheezing like an old freight train, please take care of yourself.
Maybe just one more Mountain Dew before I start dropping weight.

I just want to say I am so sorry maybe angry for them people who DID this to your hive. I just don't know what has happened to man kind and respect for other people. Karma can be a "b" and these people will get it 1 day. I so much enjoy what you do and how careful you are with the bees...you make and have made some AWESOME videos...thank you for what you do saving the bees and videos you make.

it is unreal how hard someone will work to not get a job or start a real company. hope you all the best, and maybe find some trail cameras for your bees. and friends bees to help protect your investment
Recently had some low lives break into my trucks tool box all they got away with were some ratchet straps and old wrenches.... The damage they caused far outweighed what they stole.
@@wetlettuce4768 that's why I dont lock mine. Years ago my brothers, my friends and I all had convertibles. We discussed the matter of theft and concluded that the most valuable thing on or in the cars were the tops so rather than have someone cut the top to get in and look for stuff we just left them unlocked.
Far be from a armchair beekeeper to make suggestions so consider this a question might not it been easier to use a one of those cardboard nuke boxes (I mention using a cardboard nuke because it would be lighter to hump up and down the ladder or so I would think) with a some only comb in to try and get those bees to march into the box than to vacuum them up.
Sometimes it takes an "armchair general" to have a fresh look at how we do things :D
I do like cardboard nucs for that. With these removals though you never know what you're going to find so of course this perfect little hive is not what I had expected when I left home. I would have preferred a box over the vac on this one.

I loved the head pop up while I was editing. Bee curling could become and Olympic event.
I have 2 plants in pots on my pateo. Jalapeno plant, which has 1 fruit on it. And a tomato plant with 2 fruits on it. Reasoning is no bees for pollination. Discovering how important bees are to our food supply.
I'm gonna have to mail you some bees. ;)

Oh that would be a dream. I wish they would do that. They are attracted to lemon grass oil but not quite that much.

I hate a thief. That is such a shame that they felt they had to destroy a nice colony. Luckily my hives are in my fenced yard with wild roses along the back of my property. Good luck trying to get to my girls.

@@WoolieBsApiary I'm going to try a new swarm trap design this year I think. Just going to build some 2"x4" and 2"x6" frames about 4' tall by 12" or 16" wide with plywood sides and a hinged door on one whole side and hang them on the north side of some trees.

Obviously ignorant vandals who don't understand the value of our honeybees and how threatened their populations are worldwide with that colony collapse disorder. For punishment I think they should have to pollinate a fruit orchard themselves, by hand. It might just be our future. That looks like a strong, wild population! Thanks for being the "bee whisperer" and saving our bees for us!

Curious... Do chimney caps do ANYTHING to keep bees out? It seems the mesh on them could be easy for bees to enter. Our chimney isn't closed like that one, it has a commercial chimney cap on it. We've never had any in our chimney but I'd be devastated if I ever started a fire and had honey come running down the walls of my chimney. I don't want to smoke bees THAT way!
Our chimney cap was just inspected because we thought we possibly had storm damage from a tornado that came through not far from us. The inspector said it was still sealed and looks good. Should we maybe verify that since bees only need a tiny space to enter? Thankfully, we only had some minor denting to flashing from the hail but no major issues with our roof. It's actually nice we now have photos on file with our insurance company now in case we need a claim from a future storm. They'll KNOW it's new damage.

Isn't it better to give the bees frame inserts that are already coated in wax? That way they don't need to spend as much time making wax, and instead can just draw the comb out from the wax that's there... also, why plastic frames? Aren't wood frames better? You'd think that plastic frames wouldn't last nearly as long... anyway, good video 👍

People who wreck someones yards and stuff like that are just disgusting to me. There are free legal trails all over the place for that. SMDH stuff like is just wrong and makes me half heartidly wish landmines were legal.
The only cure for that sort of vandalism is a good locked gate, and a concealed camera to catch the vehicle, number plate, and driver's face when they get out of the vehicle to cut your lock. The up side is, if you can identify the criminal, quite often they'll be someone wanted by the police on other charges, and they'll face a much stiffer total sentence than the pitiful slap on the wrist they'd get just for the vandalism.

I had a girl climbing up my leg the other day so I just lightly pulled pantleg back and shook her out; turned out to be a young bee that fell off the frame; thank ya; -man those girls were some ladylike; just a pleasure to watch you handle them
Seems like they’d be easy to smoke if there were in a chimney! :) How do you not get stung a bunch of times. I don't even have to so much as look at my bees funny or give them the side-eye for them to sting me.

Hey Rooster, glad to see another video from you. Regarding thieves and scoundrels: what goes around comes around. I'm glad you were able to save the hive they damaged - and I suggest forgiving them, though my reason is not really as pure as it would sound. If you forgive them - that puts their fate in God's hands, and I do believe a lesson will follow. I tell myself I am not being bad - as it is clearly a lesson they require.
Regarding the roof venue - I totally get it. But this was a great save, and considering where they were (in a chimney!) and where you had to go to save them - it certainly could have been a LOT worse. Did I mention, what goes around comes around... I think you will find these bees a special blessing.

I got some buckets from Tractor Supply too - they are food grade... I may get a few more and make a new bee vac with them.
I just split one of my new Tractor Supply buckets. Sat it down in a lawn mower battery while full of honey.
