How we would love to make our lives one big adventure! Sadly we can't but on days when we're not doing the necessary things to make the world go round for our family I like to pack in as much fun as I can into one day. Bees All Day is literally what July 29th was for me. I couldn't show everything due to time limitations. As you can imagine, it's sometimes tough to work and video record at the same time. This video was edited down from 2.5 hours of video footage from that day.
First was an inspection of a feral bee colony in a garage wall of a rental property. The property owner agreed to our live bee removal price which I won't reveal for several reasons. Maybe I'll do a video about that eventually. This Italian honey bee hive will probably be a sizable one occupying one 16" stud cavity and likely extending from the top plate to withing a couple of feet from the floor.
Second was the feral honey bee colony live removal from the shed door. It poured raining on me for part of it and drizzled for the rest. Ordinarily I probably wouldn't have enjoyed that but it did help keep me cool for a couple of hours. The inside panel of the door was drywall. I left it off after the job so that the property owner could easily see how many bees I left behind. Also he really needed to put plywood back instead of drywall. He was trying to work in that shed and didn't want to get near the bees.
The last stop of the day was the "bird hive" removal from private property next to Family Worship Center. The church did get the property owner's permission before we removed the box. I also know the owner of the property. Many years ago I overlaid that driveway with washout for him. I'm surprised he hadn't removed the box himself. I'll do a cut out of this bird house and record it for you.

Just need to settle on a chinese whack em up movie because there is nothing better to watch. It's not a baseball cap turned around backwards there, it's do-rag style unique to that era and local, but it looks all the world for what the Dirt-Rooster had on his head. I know this only because of the trappings of a misspent life in front of the TV.

Enjoyed the video very much! I am hoping you have a 'bloopers' video in the works sometime! I loved when your friend went running across the yard. I am glad you captured the fallen queen. That bird house looks like it will be a mess to straighten out I do hope you show us how you do it as I am sure it will be a challenge! Thank you again for your video's! You have this old woman thinking of putting out bee feeders and maybe a hive someday. I have a creek not too far from the house and neighbors who plant lots of flowers and a field that is farmed behind my back yard so should have plenty of pollen to keep them happy.

The bird house cut out was interrupted by a critter getting into the box and destroying it. I'm guessing it was likely a raccoon going after the honey. I went to get the box to take the bees out and it was pretty much empty with the front of the box chewed open.

So thoughtfully careful not to harm any bees, you earn respect by giving it. I could watch your videos all day. I still wonder if professional (or amateur) bee-movers/keepers are as gentle as you if there is no desire for honey or beeswax. I would hope that all care that bees are amazing creatures, and that Mother Earth needs them. They are dying by the billions in the Midwest, where farmers are using pesticides and, possibly, certain types of modified seed. Enjoyed your video immensely! Bee blessed!

Great videos. Thank you. QUESTION: It appears you're located in the woods. Do you have any acreage devoted to pollinator plants or flowers? Or just depend on whatever is around you such as trees and bushes?

Why don’t the bees dispatch the beetles instead of just keeping them at bay?

I had a swarm on front of an empty box in the bee yard a couple weeks ago and when I went to catch queen she went air born. A couple minutes later they all did the same. I ended up getting them out of a pine tree with my pole and bucket. Lol. Did I miss the link with the 77 year young man bench pressing?

What's the deal with the beetles? Are the bees and beetles enemies? I'm thinking maybe the beetles want to eat the larvae or honey but I would expect the bees would quickly kill them with their jaws/stingers. Are they not enemies and there's some symbiotic relationship going on instead?
    Great vid, enjoyed it.

Steven Cassidy Oh yes, they are enemies. The bees are trying to kill them.

Only symbiosis going on is that they both live in the bee's house. Bees can't kill them, their mouth is for eating pollen, not crushing to death a suitcase sized life form with extremely hard shell. All the bees can do is herd them into a group to reduce bee input in order to convince them to move to another house. With enough bees to do this effectively, the beetles will leave or starve to death. Pollen is what the beetles are eating - IIRC, I don't keep bees myself.

Hobo Photos depends, are they cleaning and bringing me food in return for the protection? Lots of mutually beneficial relationships out there, google ants and aphids, see them happily together in my yard!
