I had absolutely no idea how hard harvesting bees could be. The fact you make every effort to let the bees live truly adds another round of applause for your efforts as we need the bees! I am concerned about your welfare getting stung as often as you do. Take care! We care!

"$40 worth of bees, for free! Just come and get them!" Out of their nest...in a precarious spot 15 feet off the ground...which they will object to...... this is the same mentality as "Free firewood! Just come cut down this huge tree, which is right between two houses, bring your $100,000 cherry picker truck to do the job, work that chainsaw your brought 40 feet off the ground, be here all day and you get to keep the wood!"

The first cutout I ever did I agreed to do it for the cost of fuel (100 mile drive each way), and they complained about that. I raised my rates to what I think is fair and have never had a complaint since, I bring a spare suit along for the homeowner to wear and watch if they are interested, usually only takes about 2 minutes for them to agree it is worth every penny to have someone else to remove them.

Incredibly hard work in that humidity. No bee suit? I had a swarm make a hive in my front yard water use meter box a couple summers ago. There was only one keeper that could get the bees and he was out of state at the time. Out here, beekeepers do it for a hobby like my guy did, or they have crews that hit the farms around here to set up those box hives in the fields. The hobbyists do not charge, as far as I know. The bees set up their hive on a Sunday, and on Friday when the keeper came out, the hive itself was about the size of a standard football. I watched the whole process from when the bees swarmed into the yard, cycloned into the water meter box, and again I watched the bee keeper remove the bees and hive. He told me that he was going to relocate them someplace where they can do their thing without getting bothered. It was really fascinating to me.

I’m amazed that some people would expect another person to extract $40 - $50 worth of bees for absolutely nothing except they get to keep the bees? I don’t deal with things with stingers just for the fact I’m allergic to pain....and stings...but for a half days work? I hope whoever it is actually has him do that work because I’m thinking they DON’T want to fork out payment they may just kill them to get rid of them...if they were in my house you can bet your life I’d pay anything to get rid of them...I hope y’all do another short video after all is said and done and what those tightwads end up doing...y’all get a thumbs up for doing these jobs and another thumbs up for being able to take stings....3 times they nailed you? I’d already bee in cardiac arrest...🥺🐝

I am going to go out on a limb and say most swarms are worth just s touch more than 30 to 50 dollars. A small nuk will run 125 or better.

@@michaelc.3013 um um. I really think not. A fool and his money soon go separate ways. My father was a master carpenter to the same level as Bob Villa. There is absolutely no way I would pay that, it will not happen. I know how to use wood tools. I have less than 35.00 dollars in my hive box and bees. Swarm traps provide free bees. And today I went and did a cut out. Free bees. And lately I know of a cabinet shop that produces 24 inch drop of 1x12 lumber. As long as that material is available my boxes will be free too.

@@joerowland607 I can't argue with you about that. I'm not a master carpenter and don't know anybody giving away lumber. I can buy the materials and put together a box for alot less as well, but for those people who don't have the tools, the time or the know how to do so, you can expect to pay a pretty penny for something preassembled. The same people buying a nuc for 125$ are likely buying preassembled boxes as well. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful.

When I was little, probably about 9-10 years old, some friends and I got the bright idea to take a cattail and shove it down a yellow jacket hive at the base of this tree in our neighborhood, I grabbed a cattail from the lake right next to the hive, probably about 2 foot long with the branch still attached, walked straight up to the hole where the yellow jackets were coming in and out of and jammed the cattail in about 2.5 times and before I got the third stroke one zipped out and stung me directly in the white of my eye. I cried and cried the only thing that made me feel a little better was my childhood best friend grabbed the cattail and avenged my sting and he went and did the same thing I did and yelled “you don’t sting my best friend in the eye” while ramming the cattail in the hole. I just remember watching him run away from the hive and a million black specks pinging off his bare back. I was crying holding one hand over my eye but the sight of the yellowjackets chasing him and pinging off his back made me forget about whatever pain I was in and I started laughing out loud, and then shortly later returned to crying. I thought I was going to go blind, but I went to the eye doctor and he said I would be okay, I would just have some floaters eventually in my vision, and sure enough they came, but my sight was fine and so was I. But ever since I have been deathly afraid of bees hornets wasps anything that flys and stings, my natural reaction is to start dodging them and running inside, but after watching a lot of your videos over the past couple weeks I’ve kind of overcome my fear of bees and such, seeing the way you handle them just gives me some confidence that a stray bee isn’t looking to fuck my day up and if it did the sting isn’t that bad, definitely not worse than looking like a total puss in front of whoever I’m with. Sorry about the novel just thought I’d share. Love the content, you seem like a great man.
