I just now noticed that Pat was able to keep going, and take it on through, but I watched John, and for the first time I think I saw him having a hard time trying to keep up with Pat, probably because of how dang cold it was!
is it just me or does Anyone else who has heard this before go back to "That Time"?? Doobies, in every form, have been fabric of my life since 72 or so....
Me too bro!!! I was in tenth grade in San Diego, and my older brother had: The Captain and Me!!!! OMG, just like how you put it, I'm sure The Doobie Brothers help me grow up. I'll never grow tired of their sound. And they are a class act as far as their personalities @!!!
The first time I heard the doobies, I was in my uncles 72 Road runner and he had an 8 track, played Black water. I was smitten...Timeless/classic music that my children and grandchildren love TODAY
😂Lol🤣 I'll explain my laughter, but let me first say that I'm with you brother. I started listening to the Doobie Brothers in 1977 when I was in 7th grade. I laughed because doobies sound as if you are referring to joint's. In that particular era, what you typed doobies, joint's, also makes sense. Maybe an apostrophe would work...Doobie's. Don't worry because now I'm even confused myself. 🙃🤪😅😂🤣🤪🙃
I started playing piano in 1968'ish --- about 1972'ish I took up guitar (because the piano wasn't COOL to an 11 year old boy... Man o' man ... I was stupid). The Doobies have taught me soo much over the years.... From the Skunk days.... to the McFee era. McFee is one of the greatest musicians on the planet. And I have always loved Pat Simmoms.
Pat seems to be concentrating so hard on playing and John is making it look so EZ and natural. Regardless, two true musicians, an integral part of the sensational Doobie Bros. Long live their sound and talent. 👍🎸
Oh i am now 66 years old.Icherish your prescen ce on this our one and only planet. What a brilliant gift you guys have given us all. God bless you. I will fly with u in my afterlife and beyond
How do you even feel the frets in the cold winds like that?? And keep your throats wet enough to sing? My god these guys are gods of song making and live performance. Long live the Doobies!!
Some things only get better with time. This is definitely proof of just that. Loved having The Doobies part of the soundtrack of my wild, wanton and gloriously misspent youth. Even more glad they're still part of the bittersweet, sad and beautiful life on mine, now.
Damn. Late April in Loveland CO! No wonder Patrick & Tom look like they're freezing. It IS friggin cold! The music has 'memories' written all over both songs. In 2021, I'm glad to have those memories tucked safely away in my 70-something mind. So many of those who shared this and other great music from that time are no longer with us. #grateful
They did 4 or 5 albums that were near perfect! The Captain and Me was FABULOUS!! Gorgeous soft songs like “South city midnight lady” and hard rockers! I saw them in 73 and they were too damn loud!!! Every song sounded the same at a couple thousand decibels! I saw them 30 years later and they were great!!!.
Its very hard to play out there in the cold and windy times. Very happy to seem them healthy and enjoing themselves ! They are a band of brothers and at this late in the game, all of them did put aside egos; all of them enjoyed success solo or as songwriters with the band.
Never been a time in the 5 times I've seen them over years that they weren't just amazing. They are like he said the REAL DEAL over so many years ! Cheers guys!
Saw the guys in the Macon Coliseum in 1974 and they put on a ROCK'N ROLLING night that everyone there will never forget,5 encores and when everyone left they had to retighten all the bolts and screws holding that Coliseum up because they brought the house down THANK YOU DOOBIE BROTHERS FOR A HELL OF A GREAT TIME!!!
I always have to return to this often, it sounds better than it did as a 13 year old when I got my first listen riding around making my car move a little bit faster
My mom sat next to Patrick on a flight to NY years ago, she was around 80 years old. People kept coming up and asking for autographs. Mom asked are you famous, Pat told her he was in the Doobies. Mom said I've never heard of them.
I always loved this song "South City Midnight Lady" -reminds me of the nights we spent together singing and listening to our music past midnight just you & me and my love my DJ . When I am feeling blue I think of you darling and I feel much better knowing you are out there loving me and caring for me as you do.....there is no greater love between us my darling
Another thing about the DOOBIES --- where else can you find a band that uses 2 Telegraph Keys, mounted on a wood block.... as a percussion tool? John Hartman was a great inventor... LOL Look up "Sweet Maxine Live" ----
It is NOT easy playing in cold windy conditions! I’ve done it I hate it ! Guitars don’t stay in tune! Old fingers don’t work well! These guys are true pros !
Marty Howe in the case of the Doobie brothers it's the heart felt meaning of the message not the misspelling that shows where your coming from everyone has misspent moments throughout our lives it takes this kind of music to make misspent moments into a place along the way I played the sax solos on a E flat alto and the tenor or baritone were a little less to me
Folks, we need to truly cherish bands like this because there simply aren't very many left that create such beautiful music .....
I agree. I was a teenager in the early seventies. In my opinion, that was probably the best era for good rock music.
@@troyannbladsacker1811 agreed,,, the 70's to me was the best ear for virtually every genre of music 🎶
@@troyannbladsacker1811 I'm a chlld of the 70's and my children and grand children agree
@Michael M. Moody Blues and Doobie Brothers were and still are my favorite groups.
Got that right - such great harmonies that just make you smile!!
I just now noticed that Pat was able to keep going, and take it on through, but I watched John, and for the first time I think I saw him having a hard time trying to keep up with Pat, probably because of how dang cold it was!
The Doobies are the best musicians along with the Allman Bros of all time......they are in my heart forever!
Tom seems to be the only one who isnt phased by the cold.
He is a trooper.
Leo's usually are bad-ass.
Tom isn't in this video.
Been loving the doobs for 50 years...

Just love the chemistry with these two ♥
Pat Simmons did the American song at an A's game a few years ago and then my husband and I ran into him. He was so sweet to me. What a guy!
76 years old!
Pat seems to be concentrating so hard on playing and John is making it look so EZ and natural. Regardless, two true musicians, an integral part of the sensational Doobie Bros. Long live their sound and talent. 👍🎸

oh yeah
Yes, Juan it seems that Pat Simmons is a talented, sweet soul. I’ve notice that he has an ever present smile when he is performing.
EVEN WHEN HE'S NOT PLAYING. ESPECIALLY AROUND KIDS AND SOLDIERS,,GREAT GUY!,

Very nicely stated 👌

Tom and Pat are two of the nicest guys you'll ever meet in this business. Great talent and great guys!
Whenever I see you mr. Simmons I start crying! I miss my days in Santa Cruz! You boys always made my heart shine!
Me too...miss my Santa Cruz youth!

I saw them on the front row in the early seventies and my ears rang for three days!!!!🎉
The Doobie brothers are one of my favorites of all time
Love the Doobs.....great music and great humanitarians
groups like The Doobies and Chicago dont just play they are genius arrangers
Such talented musicians and beautiful harmonies to this day!!
Now that’s how you do it!! Even in the freezing cold
Its very hard to play out there in the cold and windy times. Very happy to seem them healthy and enjoing themselves ! They are a band of brothers and at this late in the game, all of them did put aside egos; all of them enjoyed success solo or as songwriters with the band.
Pat Simmons is # 1. The spark plug of the dobbie brothers
And Tommy is the spark.
Mr. Simmons has been the constant of the band, always there, always shining💞
@@carolwilliams2439 absolutely. He even married a gal who already had a son. A helluva guy no matter what direction you see him from.

My Favorite Doobie Bro's Song! I'm a South city midnight lady from louisiana, not lives in Colorado!
Gutsy performance in cold weather...but...we talking the Doobie Brothers...and they NEVER EVER let their fans down! Cheers and TY for the posting!
where was this???
Loveland, Colorado
@@kurtsonnenburg9502 At the Thunder Mountain Amphitheater. It was cold that day! Great show.
You know it's just not fair for you guys to be aging so much better than your fans. Just superb, especially considering the frigid Colorado temps.
Saw the guys in the Macon Coliseum in 1974 and they put on a ROCK'N ROLLING night that everyone there will never forget,5 encores and when everyone left they had to retighten all the bolts and screws holding that Coliseum up because they brought the house down
THANK YOU DOOBIE BROTHERS FOR A HELL OF A GREAT TIME!!!
One of my favorite bands for the last fifty years.
These guys rock so hard (and they're in their 70s) Wow.
Whooptedo! I've seen the Bros 23 times/ met them too. they are as beautiful as their music!
It’s hard enough to play , having frozen hands dosen’t help , those guys are great !
MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BAND, WONDERFUL LYRICS AND MUSIC SUPERBLY PLAYED
My kentucky bourban has kicked in. You guys are a true gift to our softer kind of humanity .bless you all for ever.what a brilliant gift you guys are.

I have loved u guys since i was 15 years old. Ÿou always light up my lonely and darkest moments
Absolutely amasing !!!!!
South city midnight lady. Great tune I grew up on this stuff and would not change anything
It’s like closing my eyes and being a teenager again. Magical.

Masters of the guitar!!
Fantastic recording, felt like i was there.
They still enjoy playing!!❤️
Such a sweet sound. I love this version of these songs. Thanks Guys!
Wish you had the whole concert, I'm a handicapped amputee who doesn't get let out of her cage very often, thus is awesome! Thanks for posting
Karen, try this playlist, I think you'll enjoy it! ;o)

Sweet soulful and just down right the best music in my opinion
That was so good.

Wow, thanks..I have seen him play the bass and sing lead vocals so many times with New Grass Revival..I do miss those guys so much.
Super quality video... Thanks for posting this...
Thanks for posting!! I was on row one in front of Tommy Johnston.
Just wow!
My cover band is taking on 'Black Water' in 2021! I've loved that song since the first time I heard it. Can't wait! 🎸
Their music is magical ✨️ 😍
Not to take anything away from Pat Simmons but John McFee is a virtuoso guitarist ! Check out his credits on Wikipedia
Soquel rag.. haha.. ate breakfast many a morning in the Soquel Cafe when Pat on his bike would park out front... the whole window would shake ;-)
HELL YES!!
Just awesome!!
Looks pretty dang cold.
THE DOOBIE BROTHERS NEED TO BE KEPT RIGHT HERE WITH US!EXCELLENT BAND!

This is what they are...'spellbound'
I bet it was 35 degrees but felt like zero on stage!
The real band 😍
The thumbs down folks can't play.
Stephen Adams ever try feeling for frets in 30’F weather with wind gusts? Lol. I’m shocked they even played!
Matter of fact I have. You?
The nights are getting cooler, lol, October 2016, Toronto

John Cowan

Im happy for these guys, but its a little concerning that they appear to be struggling, or trying to do their best, in such cold weather!
Michael McDonald is NOT a DOOBIE BRO....
Wonder why..scored some of their greatest hits..minute to minute album was all time best doobie selling album...
Luke Skywalker on bass! 8:20
Iv'e had them sitting on top of me reaching over my head to steal my wallet , pulled a knife on me . but cooler heads prevail.
Never did like when any group subbed a sex solo for a guitar or some other solo. Too many bands do this live.
Did you mean sax solo Marty.
Did he drop that acoustic guitar????
Nope!
@@97jcv OH GOOD!!!
who is that to the far left on guitar? I swear it looks and acts so much like John Cowan.
You are correct!
Babes
"SLAT" key! Once a mistake is made it's impossible to convince people otherwise.
Sorry about that, I usually proof read my comments. I meant SAX, not sex solo, though that's the story of my sex life, you kiddin'?

When the Doobies lost Skylark, Guy Alison and Tony Pia, they lost a bit of their sound and performance as a whole. The replacements are so so…..
