I love Joe Walsh. He’s the most underrated Guitarist. He and Ringo are not given the respect they deserve. That is one hell of a band in that room!👍🏻👍🏻😁😁😁
Ringo is one of the most underrated & original drummers ever (IMHO), think back to all those dozens of great Beatles songs he played the absolutely perfect rhythm track like Charlie Watts (RIP) he played simple but perfect drum parts.
The first 8-track tape I ever heard as a kid! "James Gang Rides Again"! Brings back great old memories. Thanks Joe. And Ringo too! Anything he's on has to be good. Peace Brother!
The whole "underrated" thing is a stupid trope imho. Joe is NOT "underrated". He is a great player, highly appreciated, and one of my heroes. He keeps getting better and better with age.
Leyland Sklar keeps a solid groove going and never quits. Great improvisor. Ringo looks fantastic! Why did they need a second drummer? Funk 49 has always been a favorite song. Good to see you again Joe!
The second drummer is Russell Kunkel who has played with a slew of people. Him & waddy have a band called The Immediate Family. All famous studio musicians. Myself I love the 2 drummers they play wonderfully together.
My grand daughter at age 5 sat a a drum set and proceeded to demonstrate how it was done. Fast forward 4 years and both families are at a venue with live music and the drummer is a famous face. I whisper to my wife about who he is and she don't care and wants to go. I lean down and tell my grandaughter and she says cool. His famous band is no longer but members are rock royalty in my country. Song finishes and the family wants to go. Grand daughter has disappeared to be found standing next to the drummer. She is 9. He says you want have a hit. Don't ask her twice. She is on that stool before he is almost off. She showed him what's what on a drum set and Got a really good round of applause including him to my knowledge that was the last time she sat at a kit. Needless to say I was so proud yet annoyed as if we had went when the pussies wanted us to My grandaughter would never have got a pair of drum sticks from Derek Pellicci.
As a Vietnam War vet (1970), thanks for what you and others do with vetsaid Joe. As a vet just to know you are not forgotten is a big deal, very big. I absolutely love the jam session, excellent. It will be going into my favorites.

Just occurred to me: this is in a way a merging of talents from The Beatles/Eagles/Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers/Linda Ronstadt/Jackson Browne/James Gang/Rolling Stones/Stevie Nicks and so many more
Aside from Joe & Ringo, this group is a who's-who of A-list backing musicians. Between them, these guys have played on butt-ton of hit recordings and backed up some of the biggest names that most everyone has heard of (Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, Warren Zevon, Fleetwood Mac, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Neil Young, Rolling Stones, Phil Collins to name a few).
@@mikenelson3338 Leland Sklar (bass ) has backed up Stevie Nicks, Jackson Browne & Phil Collins & James Taylor Benmont Tench (keys) was Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers keyboardist from the very beginning. I know he's also played on some Sheryl Crow recordings and others Waddy Wachtel (guitar) was played with Warren Zevon, Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt and Rolling Stones Russ Kunkel (drums) backed up Jackson Browne, Neil Young, James Taylor That's just a sampling for each. I know there's lots more. Google their names. I guarantee you'll find other stuff for all of them.

I love the experience here! These guys just KNOW what they’re doing. They’re beyond having to be the center of attention so everything is tight with nobody showboating.
It's amazing how they get something so complex and lengthy synchronized to such perfection. Those guys each know where they and the others are going to a T. And after all their hard work, we get to peek in and see it all come together, without even paying a ticket price! Thanks so much, guys. Stellar! On so many levels.
Joe Walsh & Waddy Wachtel playing together! Both of them have loooong histories of duo guitar work, Joe w/the Eagles & Waddy w/Ronstadt. Considering that the Eagles were Linda's backup band before Waddy, Andrew Gold et al. took over we ought to say a big "thank you" to Linda.

Never fails to amaze me how relaxed ringo is on drums, cool song
Funk 49. James Gang when Walsh was just a pup.
Webster's dictionary defines "cool" as Ringo!
That’s because ringo plays the simplest drums on the planet. It’s not hard to do what ringo does and I never understood why he gets so much credit.
Zero distinct sound, zero original fills or beats, ringo is the most overrated drummer of all time.
@@river2352 so i take you are a drummer?
@@johnypitman2368 yep I am actually. What has that got to do with anything though? It’s my opinion, don’t like it? Move on
Yes!
I bet there isn't a participant in this tight AF jam that didn't qualify for Social Security at least ten years ago.
Rock and roll is just in your veins for life.
Sequin lapels would be ridiculous on anyone but Ringo. Somehow looks perfect. Also, Santa is rockin' that bass.
That grin he did at a simple stanks-y fill said it all!
Ho ho ho.
Leland Sklar .. The Bass man
Ringo has gotten younger looking! Good show 'ol chap. One of rock's best grove songs for sure. Diggin' Leland Sklars and Waddy's playing too.
Yes he sure has,; I wonder what his secret is!
HAIR…My boy
It’s a wig.
Hair dye. Keeps my wife looking great!
Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the talent that is Lee sklar in this video! Slap bass
Wow, Ringo' brings together great performers like this!. Everyone was in the groove and it looks like they had a blast though out that take! Joe and Waddy especially on guitars.Lee Sklar could have been in :Lord of the Rings" he is certainly a wizard on Bass! Benmont on keyboards was awesome and other commenters already pointed out how well Ringo and Russ play drums together.
First concert I went to was the James Gang, 1970. Big Love. 7 years later, hung out with The Eagles in LA. wow wow wow. Blessings can be. And right now, watching this video, wearing the exact same shoes as Joe. No point... just weird. hahahaha
Wow.the lineup, mix and improvisation. Four legends rings, joe waddy and leland
Not just 4… All 6 are legendary!
This sure brought out the 70s hippie in me
and put a smile on my face all day.
Thanks you guys
I hear ya bro!
Danke Ringo, Joe, Benmont, Waddy, Russ und besonders Lee. Geiler Sound👍🍻
I love Joe Walsh. He’s the most underrated Guitarist. He and Ringo are not given the respect they deserve. That is one hell of a band in that room!👍🏻👍🏻😁😁😁
Joe Walsh is an underrated guitarist? How exactly should we he be rated?
He's a guitar legend, he's not underrated.
Real music!
I touched the screen and recoiled, as I knew it was a time travel portal. One look at Ringo confirmed this. Something weird this way comes. Magick.
I was born at the right time for music.
Ringo is one of the most underrated & original drummers ever (IMHO), think back to all those dozens of great Beatles songs he played the absolutely perfect rhythm track like Charlie Watts (RIP) he played simple but perfect drum parts.
Ringo didn't play on every album.
They used studio musicians also..
@@christopherhahn6079 Start naming some then? I'll wait here.....
When I was looking for a drummer for my band, I always said that , I just want a ringo or a Charlie, two of the best ever ,!
I agree would be nice to hear him without a second drummer
Lefty playin' a righty kit! ...makes ALL the difference!
Joe For President.
Ringo for Minister of PEACE!
Old men can rock , love the bassist!
The first 8-track tape I ever heard as a kid! "James Gang Rides Again"! Brings back great old memories. Thanks Joe. And Ringo too! Anything he's on has to be good. Peace Brother!
I miss my slotted suitcase full of 8 tracks.
Had some good ones!
I have the first three James Gang Lps, with Joe, and a couple solo albums, "Barnstorm" and "So What." Good stuff.
Not my first 8-track but one of my favorites. (At school, driving around the mountains of W.Va. ah, I remember it well).
Joe Walsh one of the most under rated Guitar players. He is so good and always been one of my favorite players.
What do you mean? He’s always been HIGHLY rated as a guitarist… from the beginning.
Unrated????
So not underrated!
Not a shredder but oddly perfect. Note choice and sound are impeccable.
The whole "underrated" thing is a stupid trope imho. Joe is NOT "underrated". He is a great player, highly appreciated, and one of my heroes. He keeps getting better and better with age.
Ringo has the beat that changed the world.
This is awesome . Ringo hasn't aged since the 60's . As for Joe and the other guys playing this already brilliant song they have made it even better
Funk 49 with these guys is a dream session. So tight.
Love The Bomber and Ringo is legendary. Fate made them brother's in law but music is the cement that joins them.
A bunch of old crocks who still have their funky socks!
Ringo has never appeared without a second drummer since the Beatles broke up ...
Lee Sklar is in The Immediate Family too. Lee and Russ have been Lyle Lovett’s rhythm section the last few years. Who’s on keys?
Joe loves to have 2 drummers, especially on this tune. Have seen him 3x, always brought along 2 drummers.
Joe's voice sounds really strong given how old he is. The whole group is great. Rock on, dudes!
Sounds strong, and with an effortless top end a singer of ANY age would envy, I reckon.
I actually think his voice is better on this jam than when the original album was released
Dont know about that but still good😊
My grand daughter at age 5 sat a a drum set and proceeded to demonstrate how it was done.
Ringo Looking great! Ringo you my inspiration to start playing drums 57 years ago! Thank you Ringo!
Ringo rocking headphones into a visor
That’s why they call itt the all star band!
As a Vietnam War vet (1970), thanks for what you and others do with vetsaid Joe. As a vet just to know you are not forgotten is a big deal, very big. I absolutely love the jam session, excellent. It will be going into my favorites.
whoever mixed this or just flat out recorded it did an amazing job . everything is crisp
Started to pack my lunch. The bread slices laid on the plate until the jam stopped. If not, my bread would go moldy as we are still funking. What talent in one room!
Hi I just wanted to thank you again for being so supportive and following me on my journey. I love inspiring and encouraging others. People like you help me to keep showing up! Hope you are having an amazing day👋👋♥️
OMG, Real Music from real legends, doesn't get any better
Just occurred to me: this is in a way a merging of talents from The Beatles/Eagles/Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers/Linda Ronstadt/Jackson Browne/James Gang/Rolling Stones/Stevie Nicks and so many more
Yep!! These guys have serious resumes
James Taylor’s band as well
Good catch , these are real pros
Don’t forget Warren Zevon
But itl all started with the Beatles.
It is impossible not to love Ringo.
Please name them. I need to know.
@@mikenelson3338 Leland Sklar (bass ) has backed up Stevie Nicks, Jackson Browne & Phil Collins & James Taylor
Benmont Tench (keys) was Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers keyboardist from the very beginning. I know he's also played on some Sheryl Crow recordings and others
Waddy Wachtel (guitar) was played with Warren Zevon, Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt and Rolling Stones
Russ Kunkel (drums) backed up Jackson Browne, Neil Young, James Taylor
That's just a sampling for each. I know there's lots more. Google their names. I guarantee you'll find other stuff for all of them.
@@dciccantelli thank you.
I recognize Starr, Walsh, Sklar, and Kunkel. Thanks for great music. I'll look up the other performers, as well. Legendary, Y'all! Waddy Wachtel! Very Groovy! Benmont Tench! I'm waiting for Stevie Nicks to show up, next!!!
This Is So Awesome!
THIS S JUST AWESOME A LOT OF GREAT MEMORIES FROM THE 70'S !!!
Ringo and Leland tell everyone “you guys do what you want to do, we are setting the speed limit.” Damn, there is to much to say about a jam like this. Great charity…. Love that Sklar shoulder roll.
WB6ACU - KJ7HOG "break". THIS is beautiful thing. As a "BRAT" and a veteran and fan from day one we recognize that you and your assemblage of Masters have given of yourselves like few others. This Jam envelopes us with your greatness and love. This session is my goto road jam, looped infinitely. 💜🪖
I love the experience here! These guys just KNOW what they’re doing. They’re beyond having to be the center of attention so everything is tight with nobody showboating.
Ringo ages like fine wine.
This thrills me in all the ways. Huge James Gang fan since I was a teenager. Love all these musicians so much.
Thanks Ellissa
Hi I just wanted to thank you again for being so supportive and following me on my journey. I love inspiring and encouraging others. People like you help me to keep showing up! Hope you are having an amazing day👋👋💕
They all became 20 years old for 10 minutes.
It would be an honor to be sitting in this room in awe struck. Phenomenal.
You are!
That’s idolatry.
a roomful of cool. Ringo looks like the youngest. love to Leland, Russ and Waddy. best jam. the masked guy sitting behind Ringo looked like Brian Wilson. what a cool drum set.
I thought the same thing... Brian Wilson
@@65marlin327 cheers bud.
I'm glad somebody else saw him, I thought it might just been the drugs 😁
When Ringo says it's great. It's great. Enough said.
You never get to old to rock. You guys sounded great.
Yes you do, and this proves it, regardless of how great it may sound.
Too two and to people sure get those mixed up 😂
Yes it sounds great 👍
Two of the greatest drummers to ever play trading and learning licks from each other...love it. And Lee on that bass, DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! That is music for my soul.
A proper stoner jam session.
I’m not sure, but I think we just time traveled to 1968.
Thanks, I needed that.
The best medicine is music ❤️.
Lee (Leland) "the beard" Sklar on bass! The man on thousands of records, and backbone of legends holding the groove together with Ringo and Russ while Joe Walsh tries to wake up and get with the program! This is a groovethon 10,000 X-HD though when in swing!
Who is the other guitar player?
Waddy Wachtel
Waddy is no slouch either. Like Leland, he has played with everyone. He was one of Kieth’s Expensive Winos and going back to the 70’s that’s his guitar Linda’s Poor Poor Pitiful Me.
@@bobrickert4333 TY
@@seanquinlan7530 sure lots of LA sessions Bob Weir,Warren Zevon etc those guys were everywhere
Waddy Wachtel on 2nd guitar! Monster player too.
Child porn. He is guilty
@@electricfatbikeadventures2100
lol...yup
when I was first going to concerts in my senior year in high school, 1971, I saw James Gang three different times in my first year...they were awesome.
Most guitarists spend a lifetime finding the right notes. These guys know right where they are.
