Damn, what a collection of musicians. I just turned 65, and I recognize every name. The James Gang was my first concert, the Ohio state fair in 1969 at the age of 10. I was able to see this band only because it happened at the fair. It took me almost 6 more months to convince my parents to let me go to an indoor concert, and another bday. Grand Funk Railroad at St John's Arena was my bday present to myself for turning 11. It was a good thing that my parents had no idea what a rock concert was like at the end of the 60's. 50 year old memories. Peace 💚

That’s because ringo plays the simplest drums on the planet. It’s not hard to do what ringo does and I never understood why he gets so much credit. Zero distinct sound, zero original fills or beats, ringo is the most overrated drummer of all time.
If there is a 'perfect' jam, we should all feel lucky, because we just heard it. A great big shout out to all the musical gentle men, and thanx, all, so very much, for the magic, music, and memories.
Was fortunate enough to have seen Ringo Starrs All Star Band. The lineup was Joe Walsh, Billie Preston, Clarence Clemens, Levon Helm and Dr. John. What an awsome show. About half way through the band took a short break stage is dark, spotlight shines down and here is Joe Walsh. He sits and plays Desperado solo on a beautiful white Grand Piano. What a show. Also Eric Carmen came out as a surprise guest.
That tour was the first time I'd ever seen Rings and his All Star Band. Amazing. We have seen 2 more All Star Tours and they are not to be missed. Hit after Hit after Hit!
I saw the Eighth edition of the All-Starr Band (2003), with John Waite, Sheila E, Colin Hay, Paul Carrack, and guests. It was one of the most fun concerts that I have ever been to: at least three generations of fans - grandparents, parents, and kids - all tossing beach balls and singing along with Ringo to every word of every song. If you have a chance to catch Ringo on tour, don't miss it!
Ringo would look right at home behind a drum kit playing with 20-somethings. Meanwhile, Disney's streaming a compilation of his work on an album made 52 years ago. Time is broken!
In the 80-second Disney+ ad for “Get Back,” Ringo stars by asking at the start, “Maybe we should learn a few songs first…?” and asking at the end, “Is that one called ‘I’ve Got a Feeling’?” Hilarious back then and still hilarious now!
"The Immediate Family" in full groove with Walsh and Starr! I'm all aflutter waiting for the release of the documentary on these awesome session musicians. This is AWESOME!
TASTE and timing! "What's the perfect riff-fill-accent?" Amateurs may talk about playing from their little 'hearts' ... but the pros here know you run that heartfelt playing through the brain filter ...
Yes, but there's also no real excitement or energy to it. They play it safe, and not too loud, perfect for their fan base now, which is mainly seniors just like them.

Amazing that these older men still have the passion for music and despite their age can deliver. Who would have thought that Ringo would still be at it Now!
I agree with your overall impression, but it makes me think: is it amazing? Or do we just keep thinking that despite the evidence? John Lee Hooker died at 81 and played until then. Fats Domino played into his late 80's, and Check Berry 'left the building' at 90. And now, the stars of the 60's and 70's are playing. Tom Jones currently on tour. Elton John currently on tour. Roger Waters of Pink Floyd on tour. The Eagles on tour. McCartney on tour. The Stones on tour. Springsteen on tour. The young ones are late 60's-early 70's. That evidence, combined with the Led Zeppelin reunion gig concert footage, plus Heart playing for Zeppelin's Presidential Honors, and this hot track, all combine to make a pretty good case that old people are far from past due. In fact, they are often the bedrock performers on which hard rock was founded.
@@s.mcpherson6354 Maybe continuing what that did as young people have made them maintain there chops. There are many non-musicians whose physical wellbeing is questionable and they are just barely existing. I think these musicians are the exceptions for their age not the rule. There are a few other musicians who are not as active as these and are struggling to maintain any semblance of balance in their lives. I am not that far behind 67.
@@lockedin60Yes, I agree that the creativity and exercise involved in playing do contribute to people's longevity in music. But as for them being the exceptions: please don't think I'm suggesting you should change your opinion. I'm just adding that in my own experience as a musician, I've played all my life with people in their 70's, and 80's and 90's sometimes too--and they all had real chops because they'd played their whole lives. Unless they were the percentage who got arthritis or something, there's nothing stopping them. At 95, Pablo Casals was one of the best cellists in the world, yet he practiced 6 hours per day. When people asked him why, he said, "Because I'm making progress." In addition, if you look at the 60's and 70's videos being reacted to on these channels, lots of those musicians are still playing, they're just doing casinos or Vegas, not stadiums. And in the backgrounds, in concerts for younger artists, look at how often the members of the backup band are 60+. For major acts, it's a lot of them. No one really stops playing music until their bodies won't let them due to disease, not age. And after 50 or 60 years of playing these people are like athletes. Doing tours was never easy. They all had to be in pretty decent shape or it was hard. So I suspect that if you watch the background bands for songs you see reacted to on UA-cam, you'll see a lot of grey hair storming up and down the instruments. Good chatting with you. Have yourself a good day.

Joe Walsh & Waddy Wachtel playing together! Both of them have loooong histories of duo guitar work, Joe w/the Eagles & Waddy w/Ronstadt. Considering that the Eagles were Linda's backup band before Waddy, Andrew Gold et al. took over we ought to say a big "thank you" to Linda.

Russ , Ringo and Leland. That is one killer rhythm section!
Don’t forget Waddy!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Look at Leland Sklar holding it all down with these two iconic drummers! Dream team rhythm section!
Hey Sean!
@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 Hey Dude!!
They're all killing it in this... but yeah... he was having a great time driving this jam.
He sure did hold it down, as Joe would have had it get away real quick! He decided to reinforce the backbone before it went south, and good thing he did! Lee is the silent legend! Ringo is a freak of nature! He must be like nearing 70 here, and looks like a punk who could kick your ass in a heart beat for giving him lip!
@@Bob-of-Zoid Ringo looks so great to be *81*
This is what jamming is all about. Living off one and other's riff and creating a new living being.
But also never getting in anyone's way ...
Everyone has a double but Leland 😂, he can play like two ppl
Damn, what a collection of musicians. I just turned 65, and I recognize every name. The James Gang was my first concert, the Ohio state fair in 1969 at the age of 10. I was able to see this band only because it happened at the fair. It took me almost 6 more months to convince my parents to let me go to an indoor concert, and another bday. Grand Funk Railroad at St John's Arena was my bday present to myself for turning 11. It was a good thing that my parents had no idea what a rock concert was like at the end of the 60's. 50 year old memories. Peace 💚
Didn’t really realize it, but, watching Ringo over the past several years with the ease with what she plays the drums blows my mind. He is so relaxed, and his ultimate simplicity is ultimate sophistication if your musician, and you watch him for a while, and begin to analyze what he’s doing. you’re amazing Ringo What an honor to live and experience your journey with you. Thanks for the lessons over the years.
❤
Paul
PS Joe Walsh your guitar improv and vocal improv is beautiful.
Imagine Lee seeing Ringo with the lads at the Hollywood Bowl in '64 then getting to Jam with him almost 60 years later.. So happy for ya LEE!
Lee is most impressive!!
Ive never seen a more relaxed bass player in my life 😂
I think that’s Lee skylar, someone correct me if wrong

@@ric66fbAw shit, I’ve gotten word that’s not Leland Sklar, that’s his evil twin brother Ski-land by car
Ringo still solid at 80 and still playing his Luddies now thats loyalty
Ringo, 82 this year, fit as!
@@daviddefigueiredo6018 If that is the same person as the Ringo Starr in 1964 then I am a monkey's uncle. I do think that all the Beatles were replaced after they all burnt out in 1966 and the lookalikes keep the insanely lucrative franchise going. Well until two of them were going to spill the beans on the great deception and they are now out of the picture .The gullible Sheeple love it and lap it up. This is what legendary musicians sound like.
Never fails to amaze me how relaxed ringo is on drums, cool song
Funk 49. James Gang when Walsh was just a pup.
Webster's dictionary defines "cool" as Ringo!
That’s because ringo plays the simplest drums on the planet. It’s not hard to do what ringo does and I never understood why he gets so much credit.
Zero distinct sound, zero original fills or beats, ringo is the most overrated drummer of all time.
@@river2352 so i take you are a drummer?
@@johnypitman2368 yep I am actually. What has that got to do with anything though? It’s my opinion, don’t like it? Move on
This band should do long versions of classics and make a jam album. It would be great! We want more 🙂
I love your idea!
Sounds like a plan 👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent idea.
Indeed!
Just dooooo it!!!!
I caught Ringo in ‘97 with Simon Kirke on drums, Jack Bruce on bass, Gary Brooker on keys, & Peter Frampton on guitar. Amazing show !
@sneaker face vids Plenty of envy over here. That’s a great lineup.
When Eric Carmen played was he all by himself? 🤣
Ringo would look right at home behind a drum kit playing with 20-somethings. Meanwhile, Disney's streaming a compilation of his work on an album made 52 years ago. Time is broken!
Will also be out on BluRay in a couple weeks :)
In the 80-second Disney+ ad for “Get Back,” Ringo stars by asking at the start, “Maybe we should learn a few songs first…?” and asking at the end, “Is that one called ‘I’ve Got a Feeling’?” Hilarious back then and still hilarious now!
@@DeeEllEff It was actually George who asked Paul if that's I've Got a Feeling

Good to see Waddy playing.
That was frigging amazing! Senior rockers gone wild!
50 years of rock n’ roll personified.
What amazing group of musicians
Waddy !!! You can really appreciate his additions to Joe's songs. All those bends and chromatic lines in the modes. Amazing jam.
you can hear it again and again it’s always fantastic👍👍👍👍
I Saw Joe Walsh and Russ Kunkel play in Norwalk CT.AWSOME SHOW!!! M.O'B
I can't speak, can barely type. That was absolutely incredible
There’s some weapons-grade talent in that room. Outstanding.
I am convinced recording talent is a whittling-down process rather than bag-of-tricks. Also, watched _The Ipcress File_ the other night!
Niños jugando a la pelota, sin pensar en idolos porque los idolos son ellos.
Awesome version. Glad I am a senior citizen to have music like this to listen to.
"The Immediate Family" in full groove with Walsh and Starr! I'm all aflutter waiting for the release of the documentary on these awesome session musicians. This is AWESOME!
The documentary is out now. I just saw it a few weeks ago. I watched it on Prime but it may be available on other streaming services too. It is great
Great jam! Special mention to Lee Sklar bass grooves. Amazing
Freaking tight. Everyone there has impeccable timing.
TASTE and timing! "What's the perfect riff-fill-accent?" Amateurs may talk about playing from their little 'hearts' ... but the pros here know you run that heartfelt playing through the brain filter ...
Could listen to any one of these cats all day, especially Lee!
Ringo looking young and healthy. Playing just as good as ever. So happy to see it.
Wonderful! Mr Sklar's bass is so cool.
I have to play this once a month. Never gets old
Same here
As an old drummer myself, what a dream to be able to play along with RIngo and Joe Walsh ! I only wish it could be me.
Get the headphones on and have at it.
I play rhythm and I jam out all the time.
Keep the faith...it just may happen for you one day🤞
I just turned 70 this year. I started playing Drums in 1965 because of Ringo. He's a wonderful human and wonderful drummer.
Yeah!!!!!!!! The Immediate Family Cats with Ringo and Joe Walsh! It doesn’t get better than this!
Joe still has an amazing voice. Very impressive.
He's lip syncing.

Ringo at 81???? 3 others at 74??? W O W what an amazing and tight jam.
Yes, but there's also no real excitement or energy to it. They play it safe, and not too loud, perfect for their fan base now, which is mainly seniors just like them.

Rod Johnson is not a very good judge of music. He may not like this, but it is a very good jam.

Regarding Ringo, it's amazing what hair dye and dark glasses will do.
@@carlsonloggie Agreed, I wonder if Sir Richard AKA Ringo will ever let himself go gray, or in the UK, grey? Sir Paul finally has, of course his looked really ridiculous as he was suddenly a redhead in his seventies, instead of the dark brown haired boy and man we all knew.
I met Mr Sklar several years ago when he was touring with Toto. He was such a nice guy!
I met Joe Walsh in 2015. He was incredible. Got a picture taken with each of these guys.
Saw Waddy Wachtel the same time I met Joe but did not get to meet and visit with him.
Wish I could meet Ringo and Paul McCartney some day.
This is so good. All icons in their own rights. Joe W, the original James Gang, Lee, Russ, Ringo, Waddy, Benmont, WOW. What a great rendition of this very cool song. Ringo is so good and very comical. When there are dual drummers he gives the other drummer looks, too funny. He tends to laugh after he does it. I LOVE this a lot!

Quite the lineup of talent! These guys are responsible for some of the most famous tracks in rock and roll.
Everyone of them has deep history and monster hits as leads or as backing players.
The first 8-track tape I ever heard as a kid! "James Gang Rides Again"! Brings back great old memories. Thanks Joe. And Ringo too! Anything he's on has to be good. Peace Brother!
I miss my slotted suitcase full of 8 tracks.
Had some good ones!
I have the first three James Gang Lps, with Joe, and a couple solo albums, "Barnstorm" and "So What." Good stuff.
Not my first 8-track but one of my favorites. (At school, driving around the mountains of W.Va. ah, I remember it well).
A damn good tune played by many of the finest musicians Ever.
When people asked him why, he said, "Because I'm making progress."
In addition, if you look at the 60's and 70's videos being reacted to on these channels, lots of those musicians are still playing, they're just doing casinos or Vegas, not stadiums.
This thrills me in all the ways. Huge James Gang fan since I was a teenager. Love all these musicians so much.
Thanks Ellissa

Real music!
I was there when this first came out and can and always know all the songs. I may be old now but still a hippie at heart eh, ! ! !
Lee Sklar just blows my mind everytime. What a smooth style and killer sound.
Leyland Sklar keeps a solid groove going and never quits. Great improvisor. Ringo looks fantastic! Why did they need a second drummer? Funk 49 has always been a favorite song. Good to see you again Joe!
The second drummer is Russell Kunkel who has played with a slew of people. Him & waddy have a band called The Immediate Family. All famous studio musicians. Myself I love the 2 drummers they play wonderfully together.
A bunch of old crocks who still have their funky socks!
Ringo has never appeared without a second drummer since the Beatles broke up ...
Lee Sklar is in The Immediate Family too. Lee and Russ have been Lyle Lovett’s rhythm section the last few years. Who’s on keys?
Joe loves to have 2 drummers, especially on this tune. Have seen him 3x, always brought along 2 drummers.
Funk 49 with these guys is a dream session. So tight.
Joe's voice sounds really strong given how old he is. The whole group is great. Rock on, dudes!
Sounds strong, and with an effortless top end a singer of ANY age would envy, I reckon.
I actually think his voice is better on this jam than when the original album was released
Dont know about that but still good😊
3am last night after going to gym. I'm eating and UA-cam suggested "Take a look around". I listen to it many times in awe of the unique melodies and composition. James Gang had a Great drummer too. 🏋🍻💪🇺🇸
Interesting how Joe Walsh joined a band called The Eagles that some members were once in part the backing band to Linda Ronstadt in 1971, that Waddy Wachtel would later join. This supergroup playing here is like a rock and roll family tree. Thank you for the great upload!

I've always loved Walsh's phrasing and spacing on solos. Ringo is still that perfect steady metronome at 80+ and Lee's wonderful funk filled, walking bass grove... WOW! The talent in that room is astronomical!
