Godspeed for making this, dude. I've had some of the Namco Museum games when I was little and knew they were always packed with so much soul! I never would think somebody till this day someone would uncover more secrets about it.
Tip on Galaxian, NEVER SPAM. Instead, There’s a certain shooting pattern you can do which will take it easier to take the aliens down one by one. I recommend watching a TAS of the game to understand the timing, while it’s impossible for perfection, it helps clearing most enemies earlier.
My god someone actually uncovered it, I remember looking at these on the spriters resource website and being genuinely curious about it, I thought that it was something that was just forgotten about, but holy cow, it’s actually been accomplished. It’s the stuff like this that I love about the old Nampo Museum games they put so much little details into it that it’s still being discovered to this day
This is quite a rare feature that was once in lost media to a confirmed easter egg to unlock in the Namco Musuem game can be quite surprising and awesome to complete the quests required to unlock Ms. Pac-Man as the guide in the third volume in the installment. Great job on getting her and thanks to Ockerjj for your help on unlocking her! You have earned this achievement to mark off your bucket list.
I've come almost a year late, but I'm glad I found this video - I LIVE for discoveries like these in old games. It's sad that a lot of these things go under the radar and won't see the light of day unless someone popular covers them. I was lucky enough to run into this video, though, and now I have a piece of obscure trivia to take with me wherever I go. Thank you so much for the video!
Thanks for the kind words! I also really love to find stuff like this, especially in games that I love, so I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did uncovering it!
@@epiccreepertnt I might be wrong but I think the Tower of Druaga part of the requirements for the secret easter egg might still count if you try to do so with the two secret versions of the game
I'm not sure if you know this already but I have a offensive tip for Dig-Dug. If you spam the pump button while walking towards them point blank you'll pop them twice as fast. Be careful when doing this because if there are enough enemies in front of you they'll overwhelm you so don't get reckless.
Nowadays I'd rather play these on switch or retroarch but w this being one of my favorites of the 5 I grew up with, this is pretty sweet to know about. Great vid
Wow, I am so impressed! Good work and good video. I loved this game so much growing up, It was the game I played with my grandpa up until he passed. I hear that museum soundtrack and feel a rush of nostalgia and unbelievable joy. Knowing that there was an easter egg like this hidden for so many years makes me elated. I didn't think I'd get so hyped over a sprite, but here I am.
someone on discord linked me to this video.... I'd seen some new easter eggs in a twitch stream of the game (like a third version of Tower of Druaga) but *nothing* quite like this! I highly doubt I'd ever be able to unlock this one myself, between Pole Position II and the Tower of Druaga probably being the hardest to get, so it was neat to see this in video form.
The difficulty of this easter egg really takes a sudden turn with Druaga's requirements. You're asked to make a modest achievement for each game but Druaga, where you're asked to complete the game. It's almost baffling and I even wonder if the requirement was a mistake, but it's hard to really know. Well hey, at least I got a reason to revisit some Namco games and cut my teeth on beating a revered Japanese classic that has a constant place in many JRPG history books.
This game (Namco Museum Vol. 3) is my 2nd favorite game ever. 1st being Spyro i loved this game as a kid the nostalgia stumps me with ths game lol. I was a beast at that Pole Position 2 game as a kid i would always see the Flag Girl lol. The trick is to shift between low and high gears until certain turns and try and find out where the upcoming cars are. My bad you already brough it up in the video as i was watching it😂. I wasn't really too good at the other games though sadly. I was god at Tower Of Druaga tbh. Well until stage 11 lol.
The Ms. PacMan Easter Egg is very difficult to find especially in THE TOWER OF DRUAGA since that you have to clear the game before ACTUALLY unlocking that Easter Egg.
Well, if they do bring this game to Switch, they'll have to replace Ms. Pac-Man due to the legal issues surrounding her. I vote for OG Pac-Man Arrangement taking its place. Actually, just combine all five Museums into one and replace Ms. Pac-Man with the Arrangement games from the PS2/Gamecube Namco Museum.
Do you have any idea how the rank system works? Like getting past D rank (novice) in games. Just curious because I may want to grind to get to A rank on a few games and I am wondering if you have any idea how for any of the games.
4:24 I guess Namco had to pay to use the Suzuka and Fuji tracks in the original games? I wonder why the "Seaside" track (Grand Prix of Long Beach) was still allowed - perhaps because it's a street course and not always the same (plus they didn't use the name)?
Unfortunately, I only have a PlayStation 2, which means that the highest scores on this game will not save. Do the high scores have to be saved with a memory card in order to unlock the Easter egg?
That's a great question. I would test the waters by going to the high score records on your PS2 and seeing if it will display your scores, even without a memory card. If it still does, then I'd imagine you can get the Easter egg if you can manage all the requirements in one sitting, but of course that could take a while! Especially with Druaga...
It's from Namco Museum Vol. 5, and I believe its a variation of the Zoom/View music. I'm actually having trouble finding it on UA-cam, but I downloaded it from a website that had a bunch of MP3s of the music from the game
You cheated not only the game, but yourself. You didn't grow. You didn't improve. You took a shortcut and gained nothing. You experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained. It's sad that you don't know the difference.
Oh wow.
Good work getting it to work. I'm glad I was able to help.
Thanks for helping the namco fan base
I want to buy those guide books!

Thanks for making this interesting video. Pretty certain this Easter Egg would've sunk into obscurity without it. Thanks for documenting this.

Man, my mom is a Galiga FIEND! I swear, she'd tell me she pulled all nighters on friday nights to get high scores on Namco Museum.

I remember this game. A lot of nostalgia was brought up to me
I wish they'd bring back the virtual museum part. Now I know they're not unused.
Yeah, I'm one of the commenters on the spritesheet.
Do you have any proof?
Fascinating, I had no idea such an easter egg was in one of my favorite games! One day I'll go for this easter egg too!

Having to beat Druaga sucks balls :/
Imagine beating that game in the arcade. It's not pleasant. I know because I did EXACTLY that.
first game i ever played in my life, love this game to this day, and I love tower of druaga. :)

Lol I gotta sub for the twist at the end of the video, it was very perfectly executed
I never even figured out HOW to trigger the continue option in Dig Dug or even Duraga when I had the game XP
C…….. nice 👍

hell yeah
Nice work ☺️
Why can’t they do a remastering of this game on Nintendo switch?

use a ps1 memory card and your golden

Correction: NAMCO no longer exists @epiccreepertnt.
Pretty obvious that you can't just go to the level right before level 8 and beat just one level.
It triggers me that they are calling them "rounds"
