    I came here for a different type of exposed seam, then suddenly realized that I'd watched your whole video even though it wasn't what I came for. That never happens. Nice work! I especially loved the sleeve cuff work around!

    I literally loled at "I'm not doing it." XD Thanks for keeping in all the mess-ups. As a beginner I'm always wondering if it's normal to be making SO many mistakes but am now seeing it's just a part of the process!

    This was cool; could you please show us how to do it on a sewing machine instead of a serger? I learn most of my sewing stuff by watching first, trying it, watching again, and then fixing my mistakes. I feel like this technique could be really cool on a regular t-shirt or graphic t-shirt, maybe add in some tie-dye or ice-dying techniques.

      Oh my my my! I need this, but don't have a serger. I would make it longer & bi colored...

    • @Rabbita92
      @Rabbita92 2 роки тому +10

      Hi! I don't have a serger either, so what I do is I sew the seam and then cut the seam allowance leaving between 1/8 - 1/4 inch. Then set my sewing machine in zigzag stitch and carefully sew the seam allowance I left. You need to be aware of the width of your zigzag stitch so it reaches from your previous straight stitch to the end of the small seam allowance you left.
      I hope this explanation helps, English is not my first language.
      Love!

      You can also use an overlock foot. Before I got my serger, that’s what I used as my sergered edge for pieces. Most machines should have the stitch (it’ll note you need foot G if you have a computerized machine)

    Why I like your channel, is because you take and design your own clothing. And you tell others it doesn't have to be like your. You inspire people to be creative. And that's what's the world needs more people like you.
    I hate channels that says what you should get rid of and stop wearing it.
    I'm not a trend follower and I don't keep up with the Joneses.
    I hate it when some people think they are better then others, and put them down. Me, myself and I hang around people I can talk to,and do things we all enjoy. For reading to cutting down a tree. There are so many endless things people could do. Thank you for sharing. You have a heart of gold. 👍🙂❤️
    I also want to tell you, I take my old socks and cut the foot part off and I will add them to my hoodie if the sleeves are to short and the same with my winter pants. Maybe you could try and see what you come up with. 👍

    As for the snagged thread...a darning needle or any other with a larger hole could be poked into the sleeve half way down next to the snag then feed the short piece of thread in then pull it down. On the inside of the sleeve, thread the needle in and out on the top layer of the knit, then feed the short piece of thread in and pull it through the weaving done with the needle. That will help secure it into the fabric.

    This is a great idea and it looks fabulous on you! If you're looking for an alternative way to control those serger tails here's a method I use. Make sure you have some pretty long tails on all the seam ends (5 - 6 inches at least). Smooth out the chains a little bit and thread them through a blunt-tip darning needle. Then you can run the darning needle backwards under the serged/overlocked seam. I usually go back for several inches. If you want it super-secure you can use a seam sealant, tie a knot, or back-stitch a few times. Then cut off the threads. Voila!

    Good afternoon, everyone.
    I have a question? What type of machine do you recommend for sewing. That has a reason price roughly under 150.00. Nicely made. I like it. I am going to make this next week. I have been working on my upcycling clothing.

    • @user-pl4yq1oc1y
      @user-pl4yq1oc1y 2 роки тому +2

      Id say get a secondhand one that is higher quality. Sub150 ones often fall apart quick, unless ur really lucky. My sewing machine is 20years old (husqvarna from my mums wedding gift) and it's still going strong and better than a new plastic one I've tried (that was 350$). The new ones are often also really light which may be a benefit if you want to travel/move it but it makes it very unstable when you are sewing fast or w heavier fabrics. Angelina has also done series on comparing cheaper sewing machines
