If you don't want the cut edges of the ribbon to fray and don't want to use fray check, you could just cut the ribbon with a hot cutter. The wood urning tools at the craft store are cheap and all come with an exacto knife attachment.

thank you for this very helpful information. I've had the printable label fabric about 8 years and for some weird reason I never did my tiny labels. What is so frustrating now is that on many of my projects I say " you really need to make a few tiny labels". right?? well I have no excuse any more. thanks
