I recently added side seam pockets to a dress that I was avoiding wearing due to the lack of pockets. Now I wear it a lot. Instead of drawing a pocket around my hand I just traced one from a dress that did have pockets. I also added a couple of extra security features- a mini pocket slightly bigger than a credit card inside each pocket plus a little loop made out of hem tape that I can clip keys to.
I am a self taught seamstress and after almost 10 years I just recently learned how to make pockets I was always so afraid to because I thought it was too hard it’s super easy 🤣. Thanks for the video ❤️
I don't think I have ever clicked on a video so fast! YES FOR THIS!!!!!! I will be watching this again with my daughter- great video and I LOVE your whole jewelry situation for the whole video. Also- that green loves you right back!!
Just started sewing again for the first time in 20 years. I am 6’3” and always had to rework clothes. But, I never did pockets. Your instructional video was so easy to follow that I can’t wait to try it on my own. Thank you so much!
Hi Angelina. I'm glad I found your video as I'm doing pockets for the first time. I love your energy, and your tutorial makes me want to get started immediately. Thank you from Caoe Town, South Africa ❤
I love adding pockets to outfits that don't have pockets. I love deep pockets so I can do that. Or add pockets to pants outside too. I LOVE SEWING AND CRAFTING.
Thank-you all an all in one jumpsuit that I really feel needs pockets. You've made this look so simple and easy. I really hope I can pull this off as want to wear it for a VIP night on Friday. I've never sewn with stretch fabric so this will be a newbie for me ❤
Thank you! I’ve watched several tutorials but yours strikes me as the sensible way to do it. I was worried about the side opening showing until I saw how you stitched the front pocket piece onto the fabric’s RIGHT SIDE before turning it in. I think I can do this! 🙏🏼
@@BlueprintDIY I added soft, fleecy pockets into a one-piece faux sherling pajama set and they turned out beautifully. I now want to add pockets to 𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕪𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘!
Thank you for this video! I just started trying to sew with a machine about a year ago (I was already pretty good at hand sewing), so when I decided to add pockets to some pants, I cheated and traced the pocket from another pair of pants onto the fabric. 😆 The whole process was a lot easier than I originally thought!
That dress looks great with the pockets put in it and you made it looks so easy and I would like to do the same thing on some items I have. You are an inspiration for so many in the sewing community and I feel that you are so talented and an inspiration to those producing their own wardrobes.
Thank you so much. I'm basically using an existent dress on new fabric and really wanted pockets!! I'll admit I was scared until I saw your video. As a newbie sewer you've explained things so well also you can feel your vibes all the way to the UK ❤
Yes give me all the pockets ! Can't wait for the harness video I know your gonna kill it with the styling. Loved the dress and harness combo and all of the green 😍👌.
The secret pocket is a bad ass bonus. I had a pair of pants that had that and change wou.d always find its way in there. I liked it!😊 great tutorial! Subscribed.
Very talented young lady you are. Thank you for sharing your gift. Have you done any instructional videos on how to change a hooded pull over into a zip up hooded pull over.? God bless❣️
I know what you mean about the contrast of hard and soft, I'm a big fan of the late Alexander McQueen because of that. Some of his designs were intense, however, there are some of his pieces I absolutely love; I love that one of his things he shared was when he designed for women, he imagined his clothes being like armor but with style, like for the strong spirit of women; that always stood out to me. Anyways that's enough on my rant, love your designs!!! 😆
Your “little top stitch” after you sew each side of the pocket in is called an understitch😀 and is useful in necklines and other seams look up options.
I love the top (or dress…can’t see the bottom lol) you’re wearing in this video! I’m a huge fan of a square neckline and green is my favorite color too 🥰
Tthamk u for this video. I also thrifted a jumper that i really liked I only problem it didn't have pockets. I never have added pockets to anything. I thought surely I can add pockets to the jumper. Has to be easy. Your video gave me more confidence. Seems easy, I can do it bcuz of you explaining the process. Thanks..
Thanks Angelina ❤😊, this is such a easy follow! Do you have any tips on adding pockets to a wrap coat? I have a big wrap coat with a lining. Should I just add to the lining or both lining and coat. Help🆘️🙆🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️.
This was a great tutorial. I think once I do this a couple of times it will become second nature to add IPs to anything. It looks a little confusing at first but I was able to keep up.
Hello! Great video. Maybe this was asked and answered already, but if not, here goes. I am adding pockets with an obvious right and wrong side to the fabric. Do I pin the pockets rights sides to right sides? Just want to avoid having to rip things out if I get it wrong. Thanks a bunch!

U really helped wit adding pocket. I always want to put pocket but th ability to do it was not there
Hello! Great video. Maybe this was asked and answered already, but if not, here goes. I am adding pockets with an obvious right and wrong side to the fabric. Do I pin the pockets rights sides to right sides? Just want to avoid having to rip things out if I get it wrong. Thanks a bunch!
Right side to right side so that when you flip the pocket inside you’ll see only the right side.
I want to add pockets to my thin coats and now I have a reason to buy a sewing machine.
