Some atheists take a harder stance, but it's all atheism regardless.
For me, it seems obvious that spirits/gods are my mind projector at work. We have a structure in our brain/mind that conceptualizes another person's mind when we interact with them to understand their intent and meaning which we project back outward onto them. I doubt that having a strong self-awareness is optimal for survival making me a minority.

Another common human psychological trait that fuels religiosity is the concept of meritocracy, especially prevalent in western democracies … the idea that everything must be earned and that “good” behavior, loyalty to the “in” group, and hard work yields high performance that will be rewarded commensurately. However, the intellectually honest among us know that all humans who have ever existed (or will in the future) share a common destiny, whatever that may turn out to be … regardless of their various efforts and self-deluding plans for achieving immortality.

Lowest is -if I want it, taking and having it is what is good, and not having it is bad. Highest is, "is it fair to all concerned. Dumbed down: if you want people not to steal because it is wrong, you must define your "people." Class 1:if I want it, and I can steal it, and not get caught, I will steal it. Class 2: i will think this through- what are the pro's and cons for me of trying to steal it, and this time, the gain outweighs the likely punishment. Class 3:i won't steal it because it is wrong for several reasons- i have been taught it is wrong. I havd been taught not to do it if i would not like it done to me, and if everybody did it, it would affect the greater society. Teaching evetyone, "Do Not Steal" as a society wide rule of how to behave is a greater good than, "let everyone create their own morality and dlet every parent pick what they teach their children about theft."
Then why does christianity steal everything from older religions if they weren't supposed to do it? People will do whatever they want and blame anyone but themselves for their heinous actions. God believers are more likely to steal, so this is a horrible argument.

So, atheist. Think! Know when what you are actually rejecting is merely your concept. Since God is beyond conceptualizing, no, (He) cannot "exist" in your narrow reality. But that in no way negates the experiences of thos who have had the privelege of "a front row seat on watching God in action."

Thank you Adam Carolla, my sentiments exactly..
I respectfully disagree w/secular humanist. With emphasis on the respectfully, but sternness of the disagreement.
Never stop challenging your faith, always be open to a universe bigger than yourself.
Don’t let evangelicals cloud your judgement your relationship w/God, Life, the Universe is special and when we lose our connection to that spirit we lose a large part of loving and understanding. Loneliness is a good place to visit, reflect and grow but it’s not a good place to live, certainly not good for longer.
@@michaelreardon303 I have news for you- we lose no loving or understanding for not believing in your god. Secular Humanism is not "loneliness." In fact, it is a philosophy that specifically focuses on people being together. I don't know if you are intentionally misrepresenting the 83% of humans who don't share your religion as lonely or lacking love and understanding, but it certainly makes you sound like a condescending prick. The fact that you people can't even be nice without talking down to people probably has something to do with why so many people are abandoning or simply not buying into your religion these days.
Absolutely Beautiful!!!!!
I’m 71 now and have always been an atheist. I realized at about seven years old when I got asked to leave Sunday school for asking all the “wrong “questions. Luckily, religion was not pushed on me very hard so when I realized my parents were sending us to Sunday school so they had a chance to screw without kids in the house, I told him I wasn’t going anymore. Go ahead and beat me with me do whatever you want I ain’t going. What a giant waste of time. What a bunch of hypocrites in there. I said if they wanted some time to themselves, I would take my brothers down to the river or to the park or something. They just looked at each other and said “OK “that was the end of that.

I absolutely love the idea that the end of my days I will be nothing but dust. I look around at the garbage that runs our countries. That pretty much proves there's no loving being. And even if there was, I simply want to be dust. I want no awareness or feeling of any kind, for all the eternities that may exist. In all the universes that may exist, forever and ever, I want to be nothing.
Look buddy, I can tell you see the wickedness of man, successful evil people and suffering innocents. To see this and be hurt is a very admirable trait but Justice is unfortunately limited to the best mankind can achieve. Evil Triumphs when good men do nothing. Please save yourself for your own sake, I know it’s selfish but it’s the best thing you can do, not for Christianity; not for Buddhism, not for Joseph Smith. For you. You can achieve this, you can explore the unknown universe, meditate, go into a dark room, go to the woods get away from people and just think for 30 minutes what world you want to live in, what people you want to be successful, what would make this world a better place and believe in a God that would reward people you love and bring Justice to those who cause harm. Then if you want to improve yourself do it, but don’t let your faith be dependent on the worst mankind has to offer or the many people in your wake that want to tell you you’re wrong for having a slightly different belief. This world gives you everything you need without even the slightest Margin for error, every single person, every single part has a definitive purpose you just got to make sure you’re in the right place.

And since He did it through natural means, of course it fits the data, because the data does not include the will or the action that initiated it (in the same way that science cannot determine the conditions or the mechanism that initiated the Big Bang). Going to church with my parents, (my science minded father only went to pacify my mother) is how I became an atheist. I was around 4 or 5 and even then, those stories were unbelievable. My nana would tell me eating in the bathroom was feeding the devil (her bathroom was right off the kitchen) when she wasn't looking, I would test her theory. The toilet, bathtub and sink drains were too small for him to come up through my very young mind argued.
Also, why couldn't man still walk on water, it didn't work for my father when he was docking the boat and made a misstep, and this returning from the dead after three days?? How do you burn forever in hell when your body is buried, were the pointed questions I asked the pastor in front of my horrified mother while my father stood there with a smirk on his face, he mouthed the words "just you never mind", I let it go. The answer was always "because that's how it is." My son was just like me at the same young age.

THANK YOU ADAM! 👍 As an atheist working-class background Conservative (most of the time but not always) I don't like to be broad-brushed as a Bible-thumper. Anybody can be an atheist - it doesn't define nor categorize a person. And atheism is not a "monolithic" group by any means. Atheism IMHO is not being convinced that a god exists, full stop - but some atheists (like me) posit that a god COULD exist, but I haven't seen any compelling evidence yet.
My self-awareness of this is so strong that I don't entertain the idea that spirits/gods/minds can exist as an independent entity.

The default position on anything that can't be shown to exist, is to move forward saying it doesn't. You'd go mad otherwise.
What needs to be discussed is the fact that our own brain activity is what is forming our own individual 'sense' of what is the case. People use their primary physical senses to understand the world around them, oblivious to the fact that their own brain is creating a fusion of experience and imagination, and it's that fusion that they call reality. if you want people not to steal because it is wrong, you must define your "people."
Class 1:if I want it, and I can steal it, and not get caught, I will steal it.
