City center food is normally around that price. I guess we import some things from Japan so it becomes more expensive. Japanese food prices is usually around there in KL.
I often tell people - if you're looking for halal Japanese food don't go to Japan, come to Malaysia (though the Isetan food court isn't a good example). We've got everything from the Aeon food court (onigiri, okonomiyayaki, yakitori, etc.) to Family Mart to soba and ramen restaurants (try Seirock-ya in Damansara sometime..) to gyudon (Yoshinoya used to be big here, but they are down to one or two stores only now) to a variety of sushi restaurants (from the conveyor belt sort to the high end). Still, I want to visit Japan to eat kaisendon, uni and nama-shirasu. I expect I won't find much halal ramen there but there are a couple of halal Cocoichibanya in Tokyo and I want to try buying ikura at the supermarket, cooked rice at a konbini and making my own kaisendon.

Oh ichang is from Gifu?! Nice place! I visited before! Many people thinks Japan is expensive to visit, it is not! The meals are similar price and some even cheaper than the ones in Malaysia!
Saefood is more expensive in malaysia unless you live in a fishing town by the ocean. The chicken was cheap because chickens are easy to get and cost less . A fish dish in any cuisine in malaysia can cost up to twice the price of chicken
Yayoi is one of my favorite restaurants in Thailand. Excellent food, very clean place and very reasonable price. Never heard your chopstick story before. But my mother told me if you hold your chopsticks too close to the tips, when you die and go to the afterlife, you will have chopsticks 🥢 so long that you can not put food in your mouth and feed yourself 😋.
It's common for authentic Japanese restaurants in KL to charge a premium. It's for the imported ingredients from Japan, which I think is reasonable(Rm73) for 2 pax in Lot 10.
price difference maybe due to location of the restaurant and the cost of bringing all the cooking materials from japan.. since the taste was the same means they did not compromise on the food qualities
My family tales must've gotten screwed up somewhere: I got told that the higher up you held your chopsticks, the more 'noble' you are, the lower you held them, the more 'common' you are. Btw, great move to compare the price of the meals by countries. Would be very helpful for Japanese visitors/expats I would imagine. I wonder if the Hong Kong branch(es) are cheaper or dearer.
U should try a Malaysian Japanese restaurant. Like Nippon sushi. Japanese food is quite common here in Malaysia. But if u can make a review which is the best of all that will be great. Of course it must specifically categories under halal or non halal.
