Hello @hana in Malaysia. I suddenly come across your video. I am Malaysian thank you for liking our country. It's true what you have mentioned in your video, my other Japanese friends says the same thing too🙏😍🤗
As a Chinese Malaysian, I appreciate how respectful and polite the Japanese are in Malaysia, and in other countries that I have worked in. Even the older generation Chinese Malaysians who were scarred by the Japanese invasion and occupation of Malaya during WW2 have similar feelings. My grandmother used to curse every time she saw a Japanese and would retell stories of how her family, relatives and friends suffered during the occupation in Kuala Lumpur. She told stories of starvation and random killings by Japanese soldiers if they thought in any way you were disrespectful to them. However, after visiting Japan in the 1970s, she was taken aback by how clean, polite and respectful the Japanese there were to her. After that, and until the day she died, she drew a line as to which Japanese she hated. She only hated the Japanese generation that fought WW2, not their descendants. She had nothing good to say about the former, but had only praise for the latter. Similarly, my father who suffered under the hand of the Japanese in Penang during WW2, had a similar reaction when he visited Japan in the 1980s. Moreover, he praised the hardworking nature of the Japanese, especially those in the higher ranks who always seemed to be showing an example to their employees. In the 1980s, my father used to do a lot of business with Sony in Petaling Jaya. Once, he wanted to speak with their Managing Director, and was pointed to what looked like a Sony employee, wearing the Sony uniform, holding a broom and sweeping the outside of the factory office. My father was very surprised to find out that he was the Managing Director. As he remarked to me, other races, such as the Chinese, Malays, Indians, Westerners would think such an act below them. But for the Japanese then, it was normal for them. As for myself, I have worked in a Mitsui group company in Singapore for a number of years. I find that the older generation of Japanese are similar to what my father knew. However, the younger generation are not as hard-working as their parents or grandparents were. They are more relaxed now but they still retain their politeness and being respectful.

@@HanaMalaysia Thank you for your reply. Your generation and the post-war Japanese generations have really transformed Japan and foreign attitudes to them, so much so that both my grandmother and father changed their attitude after visiting Japan. In fact, out attitudes towards the Japanese changed enough that both my father and I enjoyed Japanese music. My father enjoyed modern Japanese enka music, especially male enka singers. And I enjoyed during the 1980s, Jpop singers such as Seiko Matsuda and Momoe Yamaguchi. Even now, my daily guilty pleasure is watching Japanese anime (with English subtitles) interspaced with Kdrama. I suppose if there is a regret I have about the Japanese, is that comparing those Japanese I knew to those of my father's generation, the current Japanese generation, from the 1990s onwards, seemed to have lost that drive and hardworking streak that brought Japan out of the war. I used to have an old Japanese colleague in Singapore, whom we nicknamed the Old Samurai. He had been working for the company for more than 30 years in Singapore and used to work every day until about 9pm. Every year, he would only go home once for a month to visit his family, and that had been his routine for all those decades. He lived for the company as a salaryman. In fact, he told us that if he stayed longer than a month, his wife would start complaining and ask when he would be returning to Singapore :) The younger generation of Japanese are no longer like that and clock off on the dot every day. I wish everyone thinks like you and your parents. You live in Penang and your family is very forgiving. This is not the same with other people! I am married to a Japanese women for close to 53 years! With the present geopolitical situation , there is tension between China and Japan and I have to say I found that most of the Chinese that live near me have not been that forgiving. Hana proposes to later live in Kuala Lumpur according to her narrative. People who live in Sarawak have been very friendly. I cannot say the same for Peninsular Malaysia and it is only correct that she be advised to be careful when choosing a place to live in West Malaysia. Live in communities that are mixed, communities that speak English are less likely to be affected by chauvinism! My sister in law advised my wife on these issues even before she married me. We never saw that in the earlier years, but now I bear the brunt of adverse comments as I can speak the Hokkien dialect. My wife does not speak Chinese or Malay and is unaware of what goes on. My children also do not speak Mandarin and both have been advised to stay abroad!
It's a blessing living in Malaysia because so many necessities that peoples need from gas, fuel, electricity, water and especially foods and government hospitals are subsidies by our government and housing here are lots cheaper compared to many countries around the world.
Japan is very close to my heart. I had the opportunity to visit Japan for technical training when I was a 21-year-old man. I really love the country and the people there. They were very kind to me, and their politeness made me feel welcome. In April of this year, I had the opportunity to visit Japan again, this time with my wife. Glad that you like it here. Do continue living here, we Malaysian are very welcoming. Malaysia also encourage foreign investors, you can buy houses here, for your own living and/or renting it out for your investment purposes. You can invite your family from Japan to come visit. @@HanaMalaysia From my experience children who got married and have families and don’t stay with the parents unlikely to take care of their parents when they got old and sick. Hana san, I agree on point no 3 > My skin starts to crack after few days in winter Japan, wearing only 2 layers of cloths (I get hot easily if wearing more layer🥵) doesn't help too For point no 6 > I think certain consumables items are still cheaper in Japan. I miss the older days where _Made in Japan_ were considered to be better than others I think many Japanese who posted to work in Malaysia find it enjoyable until they are feeling sad that they need to return to work because of the too relax working atmosphere Thanks for sharing preparation of delicious foods, I wish I would be able to taste it

I migrated to the States 35 years ago. There's always pros and cons in both places. I was back in Malaysia every year for 8 years, sometimes staying up to 11 months. During that time, I missed some of the things in the States and vice-versa. I guessed contentment is my key😅. I'm glad to hear you are happy with where you're. Happy living.
While I do hate the times when I just want to do things by myself but some strangers would assume I don't know, it's comforting to know that I live in a place where strangers will try to help each other willingly. I like to be alone, yes, but knowing that I'm not totally alone when I need help is a great feeling.
Malaysia is still developing and I personally think it is heading the right direction, please don’t forget humanity and compassion while seeking growth, be a beacon of hope in the face of difficulty, especially the trouble we see in the world today, may god bless Malaysia with peace and harmony.

I think so ,too!
That's why I like to stay here. Thanks for the comment!

She has also fallen in love with Japan and enjoy the visit there.
Hi. You are very lucky one who got technical training when you are young. Also I’m glad to hear that you n your wife enjoyed travelling to Japan. Thanks for the comment 😀

All of my Japanese friends that came here to work for 2 or 3 years, they don't want to go back to Japan. Even their family also feel the same. They said they are happy to live here compared to Japan. Most of them told me they don't like working in Japan.

Glad that you like it here. Do continue living here, we Malaysian are very welcoming. Malaysia also encourage foreign investors, you can buy houses here, for your own living and/or renting it out for your investment purposes. You can invite your family from Japan to come visit. You can pass on your assets to your children or family when the time comes. Etc etc. In summary, Japan is forever your homeland and roots but Malaysia can also be your nest. I wish you and family good health and wealth. InsyaAllah (God bless).

@@HanaMalaysia From my experience children who got married and have families and don’t stay with the parents unlikely to take care of their parents when they got old and sick. They are busy with their career and tight with their financial budget. They will probably sent old parents to old folks or nursing home. I took care of my parents till they passed away because I stay with them. Also, because I’m single.
If you’re well-off, one alternative is to stay in a premium retirement home. It is expensive and would cost RM8K and above per month.

I agree on point no 3 > My skin starts to crack after few days in winter Japan, wearing only 2 layers of cloths (I get hot easily if wearing more layer🥵) doesn't help too
For point no 6 > I think certain consumables items are still cheaper in Japan. I miss the older days where _Made in Japan_ were considered to be better than others
I think many Japanese who posted to work in Malaysia find it enjoyable until they are feeling sad that they need to return to work because of the too relax working atmosphere
Thanks for sharing preparation of delicious foods, I wish I would be able to taste it

One of many things of Japanese philosophy I adore is Omoiyari. My parents thought this thing when I was kid. As I grew up, meet new friends, they taught me, why should we do Omoiyari.
