Similar thing happened to me as well, I did not only lost my way but was also lost in translation in Shinjuku, went out the station and couldn't find my destination. Tried asking a middle aged man but was turned away immediately, suddenly a young salary man who was on his way to the train station, approached me, guided me to my destination which is almost a kilometre in distance, on the opposite direction to where he was going, gave me a thousand yen for emergency, exchanged business cards, and parted our ways. Ichang Jimmy u r blessed by Malaysian globally well-known warm hospitality. I got really emotional watching the Malaysian man Fadzil's heart-warming kindness. I'd like to share own good experiences. Bear with me. Personally my partner & I experienced unexpected human kindness and warmth travelling abroad be it in the USA (my uni grad treat), the European continent, down under Aussieland even recently last yr in Bangkok & Tokyo - great welcoming blessings of friendly gestures! In LA just a brief friendly intro chitchatting with an American family of 3 adults at entrance of hotel led to a 2-day togetherness visiting Battleship USS IOWA museum to few hrs road trip to San Diego zoo (her daughter drove an SUV), seafood dinner at Anthony's by the sea (my treat in appreciation of their hospitality). This led to a friendship bond when 4 yrs later another US hol in NY they invited us to visit & stay with them in their farmhse in suburb Pennsylvania and it's near 4th July fireworks & all celebrative season! Drove us around visiting various tourist historical spots. Once after a work internship in the UK visiting NY alone, an Italian-American family never met before except for his son brief mere acquaintance invited me to stay with them in the Bronx. They arranged taking me for a long drive visiting to up-state NY, Delaware etc. It was amazing Autumn; a tapestry of mesmerising colorful foliage. His handsome son (ehem!) wanted so much for me to experience Autumn change of colors foliage. Even in far flung Pacific isle of Hawaii, a Filiino-American lady showered me with kindness. Same memorable good experiences with pple generally in Europe such as in Germany, as a student there a loving married German couple, total stranger at first then decided befriending lone lost me opening their home doors for weekend stay, dinner, Xmas party, Oktoberfest, summer Beer Garden lounging, ice-skating etc. The socialising opportunity allowed my German language learning speaking skills went on fast-track quantum leap!!! Was told I spoke like a total German native!! LOLL! Frm these wonderful experiences & blessings I learned & realised when we as human-kind bear no malicious thoughts, prejudices bearing carrying strong belief in humanity and kindness, always gifting warm smiles regardless who, thinking good of others all time, unexpected goodness and blessings shall follow us all the time - what positivity goes around postivity comes around to us! Eversince I try at every given opportunity to pay forward the kndness & blessings I've received frm strangers who later become fast friends. Ichang & Jimmy just listening to the manner u speak ur voice you communicate with much courtesy, politeness respect, the good thoughts you bear led the both of you meeting a good Samaritan in the likes of Fadzil. Always bear the belief in humanity, keeping the flaming torch of kindness burning. Most important try at any opportunity availing to pay forward to strangers in need.
