i'd die of fear if I see the underwater
Rail travel in Japan seems so relaxing. I can’t get over how shiny all the trains are.
Not all are like that. Some trains are not as nice as others...
This is awesome
No graffiti and trash everywhere, isn't there😂 Lots to learn in the USA.
@Mike Collon 😂🤣
@Mike Collon oof
For some reason my dumb brain thought the tunnel was gonna be clear so you’d be able to see the water 🤦🏼♀️
Japan got a beautiful scenery 😍. Very smart people and hard working people
54km underwater tunnel. Wow the Japanese are incredibly good engineers. Awesome video
Agree, this is really cool.
Very true 👍
where is the under water???
@Mike Collon nonsense
Actually only 23km is underwater, the longest underwater tunnel is the one in the English Channel which is 38km from England to France. But I think over all (including non-underwater segments) the Seikan is longer.
Thank you for always using your time to record, edit and subtitle these videos. Your videos are always very enjoyable and relaxing.

Many years ago in 1984 I spent a few days in Aomori with my penfriend at her family. They told me, that they are building a tunnel. At that time you still had to take the big ferry up to the north ...... :-)
Thank you for this video about the new connection, which is now no longer a new one! :-)
🙂
Formidable story
Your reply touched my heart distantly like a lost song of life. 🌈😇
My Fiancee and I are planning our honeymoon in Japan, so we cant wait for things to be more normal, but your videos keep us excited!!

Congratulations! Have fun! Its an awesome place to visit!
Thanks for the ride, the stunning views and the comparisons to other tunnels! Everything on the train and the stations looks so neat and clean and spacy 😮
That connection between red and green trains was amazing! and there are heading to Tokyo! Wow!
The green train was definitely beautiful, love the green 💙💙
It's important to note that the Seikan Tunnel is also shared with a 1067 mm JR rail line using dual gauge track, which is part of the reason the speed of the Shinkansen is restricted in the tunnel. You can see that line diverging (I think) at 6:34.
At 4:11 the dual gauge track is perfectly visible. Great way to handle it!
Thanks for that information. I was wondering why the train would not go full throttle through the tunnel.
@@crocodile1313 it wont because at max speed passing a freight train would create a shock wave strong enough to knock the freight train over
Ahh, I thought it was because it's inside a tunnel and air and sound dynamics play a major part in safety and stability, so it has to limit its speed.
It does have to do with aerodynamics inside the tunnel but it wouldn't be as much as a problem without other trains using the tunnel.
When the trains were coupling at the end I felt like I was watching a very intimate moment 😳 🚊❤️ 🚞 😂

Here's hoping the world can get its act together and end the pandemic soon. I want to go back to Japan. Many thanks for the videos, Kuga - it lets me visit Japan, if only in spirit.
Japan has been in a state of emergency for covid five times now.. they need to get ahold of it..

As a Canadian, I’m amazed how easy and convenient it is to travel in Japan. Whether it’s by train or ferry, there’s so many options.
Well Canada is the 2nd largest country in area and Japan's got a pop of 127,000,000 all withn the size of California. Pop density matters regarding the convenience of public transportation. Still, Japan does things better than most countries.
Makes us Cads look retarded.
@@AllieL-fe7foBro most towns and cities back then had rail service and theyre not even that quick.
Nicely done, thank you for sharing this with us.
It was extremely dark in tunnel. Wish I could see the seawater 🤧
A glass tunnel would be awesome
You'd be in big trouble if you could.
It's not in the water but under the ground 😂
@@ohasis8331 I was thinking the same thing! If we see seawater in the tunnel that will be the last sea we ever see, lol. (sorry, my attempt at poetry, lol)

Japan is such a beautiful country and that train is amazing. Thank you for posting.
Thank you for all the effort you've made in making these videos. Planning a trip to Japan once it's safe to travel.
I couldn’t help but notice on the this video and some others you have posted on your travels how desolate and lonely some stations are. It feels so surreal not seeing many people in such huge places.
Is because the pandemic, wasn't that before.
I still remember vividly riding Hokkaido Shinkansen in 2019, and this makes me miss those rides severely. I can't wait to be able to travel in Japan again!
That is such a cool train on the outside. I love the color. So far the coolest train i have ever seen. I love your channel.

I used to visit Japan twice a year now because of the pandemic, I am unable to travel to this advanced and beautiful country. I can't wait for my next travel to Japan, hopefully, sometime in 2022! Thanks for sharing these wonderful and relaxing videos, I have tried almost none of the adventures you showed but you have inspired me to try out those cool journeys sometime in the future.
These Shinkansen are gems of train engineering, really a spectacular piece of machinery. Thanks for sharing!
Hello dear friend! How are you doing! Hope everything is going well with you over there ! I could love 🌷 us to know each other more better. Thanks 👍 you.
If I ever get to travel to Japan, I'm gonna spend far too much on riding the Shinkansen and buying random bentos.
I can't wait!
The JR tourist train pass is great, you can ride all the Shinkansen you want!
I will spend a lot of time riding the ferries back and forth.
Jr tourist pass? How much does that go for? (In euros if you can if not I'll Google the currency)
@@jean-lucpicard3012 It's roughly €230 for a week, up to €460 for 3 weeks if purchased in advance. 10% more if you buy it when you get to Japan. Unlimited travel on all JR trains (with a few minor exceptions). If your travel plans involve 2 or more Shinkansen train trips a week it is worth it. Even if not city hopping it made day trips to cities up and down the line easy. If you buy though the JR website you can also now book train tickets online which beats waiting in line at the service counter.
@@jean-lucpicard3012 Captain, one week is $287 and first class is $383 per person. They also have rates for 2 and 3 weeks, sir.
This is great. I can't wait for the world to return to normalcy so I can see Japan for myself.
I’d rather travel by train than plane any day 😅 this looks so relaxing!
Beautiful train, so sleek and modern. Also clean, you could eat off the floors, they're immaculate. Japan is my next trip abroad.
I live here that is one of the first things I noticed living here as a kid 30 years ago now I’m back for good. The public trains as well I noticed the other day were clean even during a heavy rain storm no foot prints or musty smell. Unlike my home town of NYC. When the travel ban lifts come visit, It is sad not to see tourists. I was by Tokyo station the other day it was packed but no foreigners. It’s sad people are missing out on a wonderful life experience. You will see why I chose to make japan my home permanently.
@@breakingdragon22 I was born and raised in NYC as well, so you can relate to what I'm talking about. An absolute disgrace. I love Japanese people, hard working honorable people. I follow a few of the monkey parks in Japan, including the snow monkeys, such a beautiful country. I'm planning a 10 day visit, there are so many things I want to see, and buy. I love Asian inspired decor. I'm also impressed with the ferry boats I've seen on this channel, the accommodations are unbelievable.
@@marianneturner7267 my friend just sent me some pictures from Central Park I don’t recognize the skyline in NYC (looked like planet Krypton). it’s not the city that inspired me to seek out culture. when I grew up in NYC it was an incredible time. Now NY looks like Dubai all flash no substance. Japan is absolutely incredible it reminds me of old NY in many ways. There are still mom and pop shops, A sense of community and most important culture is retained. The same can be said for Europe as well (Andalusia Spain next to japan is my favorite place on the planet from Sevilla to Cadiz you must go). You will need more than 10 day’s. I would suggest you come between October to March. That way you can go up north to see the Snow monkeys (I would recommend flying up north it’s cheaper and only an hour). For the hot springs “Hakone” close to Tokyo and you can take the train and see the land scape of Japan. The monkeys are up north from Aomori to Hokkaido. Then there is the Shikoku islands I went last year. Absolutely incredible. You get on a ferry and island hop. Having gone to the HS of Art and Design I went to an island of artists (Naoshima) it was better than the MET. As for the food everything here from traditional Japanese to Middle Eastern and beyond will take your breath away and it’s cheap. You will pay $15 for a high end Gourmet meal here instead of going to Balthazar’s and spend $90 for high end diner food. The only thing I miss is my Cuchi Fritos and Mojo Rojo in the Bronx by Yankee stadium. Please let me know if you need any information on where to go and what to do in Japan I’ll be happy to help.
@@breakingdragon22 thank you, you've been very kind. You're right about the old neighborhoods in NY, everybody knew each other, and you knew the people that owned all the small shops, and they knew you. I love the old architecture instead of the steel and glass that has replaced them. I grew up in a pre-war building, high ceilings, beautiful moldings, wood floors, etc.. My parents lived there for 50 years, and I know the next tenant ripped all that out, very sad. You're right, old NY did inspire you to seek out culture. I use to love going to Chinatown and Little Italy. My Dad would drive us down to Little Italy on Sundays for fresh baked bread, still hot out of the oven. Chinatown had authentic items from China, now it's just cheap t-shirts and scarves that you can buy on any street corner. October to March works for me, don't like the heat and all the crowds on Summer vacation. I like to walk and see things, really experience the culture and the way they live in their country. I went to Italy a few years ago, Venice and Florence, I had more fun walking away from the tourist areas, seeking out different things to see. And I'm way past waiting on line for an hour to see a church or museum, I like to keep moving. That's probably the old New Yorker in me.
@@breakingdragon22 nice to hear your sharing. Meanwhile,in my country, ever since the lockdown was lifted and people were given freedom to go outside, all we can see is trashes everywhere. Better to "lock" these people than letting them out for their hideous attitude.😔
Your videos make my missing Japan less painful! This was especially interesting to watch. The Shinkansen trains have become so sleek and clean since I first travelled on them in the 1970s!
Your age sir?
Nice recording. Thanks for sharing 👍
Awesome video. Lovely travel. Thank you for this information. I enjoyed Tokyo during my visit via Narita. 🇯🇵
I've been waiting this trip for a long time 😍
And it doesn't disappoint me. To watch the explanation of the tunnel really made me in awe. Japan are indeed so advanced. They already had this kind of tunnel ever since the end of 80s.
The color of the train itself so fresh like a green / emerald ocean.
Thank you for always showing us another interesting trip in Japan!
I really like the metallic green on this particular train.
I laughed out loud when you came out of one tunnel and went right into another one. XD
I hope you're able to visit Europe again sometime soon.
All your videos are so informative. I have been a train lover since childhood (I'm 75) and I love learning about train travel in a culture so different from mine (I grew up in NYC). Thank you for providing interesting videos with beautiful visuals and luxurious travel venues!
Thank you for this bullet train ride, it was really good to watch. I love bullet trains!
Thanks for another great travel report. I remember watching teh coupling and uncoupling of the Shinkansen sets in Morioka and looking forward to visiting again one day.
Walking out of the station at Morioka and crossing the bridge looking out over the river was a very pleasant experience. It's great little city.
I took this Hayabusa Shinkansen from Shin Hakodate to Omiya in 2017 and I remember being impressed by that same view coming into Morioka Stn and thinking I wish I had the time to get off there.
this is wonderful, i love the peacefulness. thank you for sharing the rides with us 🥰
I'm a Brit and would love to visit Japan one day, It looks clinically clean with kind, Respectful citizens, Subbed and liked 👌
Nice to visit advanced countries where they have cleanliness, order, discipline, high speed railways, advanced roads etc. Unlike some 3rd World countries, constantly debating wether to spend money on the nhs or the high speed railway project, or building new roads and houses.
Could have spent the money on the nhs!
Could have spent the money on feeding the poor families struggling with the cost of living crisis
Destroyed areas of outstanding beauty!
All this in order to save 10 minutes!
Just leave earlier!!
We don't want high speed railways!!

Memories of January last year. It's a beautiful trip from Hokkaido to Tokyo. Can't wait till I can go all the way through to Sapporo in 2030. The only challenge I've had is with luggage. There's not much room for big suitcases. However, the trains and the trip are so good! Thank you.

Japan. Everything. Just. Works. They trully deserve praise and admiration for the can do spirit they live by. I am trully envious of them for having the finest and most efficient nationwide mass transit system on the planet. Really enjoyed your video and safe travels.
I do love to visit Japan someday, Its one of my 'must go to' list, Great country packed with great people
I hope you get to experience it. I had a fabulous time. I did want to return to the US at all! Have fun when you go!
This brings good memories! 🥲
Back in summer 2008 I got to travel from Kōbe to Tōkyō in Shinkansen. It was an amazing experience and I think it was the first time I got to travel in a train. Ever since I love traveling in trains in my further visits to other countries like Switzerland, Germany and Italy. I wish my country never left the use of trains but we are in a process to getting them back. First one for now will be the Mayan Train in the south of my country (México) and there are plans to make more for 2050 which hopefully I will get to see. 🥹
I hope that my people get to appreciate the trains and take care of them.
Thank you for sharing these videos!
Thank you for sharing! Next time I'll try Hokkaido Shinkansen to Morioka!
Amazing video. Japanese trains are the best ones of the planet.
A few years ago I found a book called Art of Ekiben, and it had reviews of about 50 different boxes from stations all over Japan.
That was awesome! Thank you 👍
Fantastic. I love 💜 the Japanese they put their energy of manufacturing and using best Morden practice.
I love watching your travel videos, it gives me insights on how to use Japan's mass transportation systems.
A very informative video indeed.

Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Traveled one month all over Japan and it is as amazing as it looks. From The Travelers view it seems to be one of the most well-run countries in the world! Twice we left items at very busy tourist locations and twice they were right where we left them when we came back! So clean so efficient so much pride of country, yet they still found time to be polite and helpful. I could go on, but just go and see for yourself.

I used to ride the limited express train once along the undersea tunnel from Aomori to Hakodate. Good experience for me. Impressive 👍
Thank you. This is very informative and interesting !
Very interesting, thank you. It is astonishing to see all the little and clever details: The way the electric stairs are painted for best visibility, the way the ticket runs all the way through the machine on the entrance to the trains, the make up of the information inside the train as to where the doors will open, up to the packaging of the Bento. All very well-designed, thought-through and clean. These are details, that make life so much nicer and easier. And the train: I don't even need to start with that - it is amazing! I love it. Greetings from Germany.

I think the most noticeable thing for me was the fact that everywhere you look, everything was so clean. Were you the only passenger?
I always wonder if my bullet train is a brand new one when I get onboard to go home from the airport, and it takes me few days to remember and to get used the cleanliness standard in Japan again :-)

Great video. The trains look clean and well maintained. Bravo!!!
I'm always surprised how much footage you get of the train exterior before boarding: whenever I travel by train I worry the doors will close with me on the wrong side.
Just imagine you could watch the sea in the undersea section of a tunnel like this (or is it built somewhere below the sea bottom?) while taking a ride on this train, this would be amazing :) Even if I don't know if you could really take a close look into the water because of the deep darkness and the cloudiness of the sea.
मैं आपसे पूरी तरह सहमत हूं

Thank you for this video. New subscriber here. :)
I have been fortunate to have several trips to Japan and taken a number of Shinkansen trains. This video evoked many fond memories of being in Japan and riding their astounding high speed trains. Despite the horrible things that were done in WWII, I've developed a passion for the Japanese culture and the amazing things they have built since then. Best of all, the Japanese are the world's best hosts for visitors!
Go to Koboro station...
There is literally nothing there, and you feel like you are in abandoned place...
Your trains are so SHINY and CLEAN !!!
Great video, thank you. 👍
To be honest, the Sapporo shinkansen extension should have a higher priority than the Chuo Shinkansen
Great video as always Kuga ;)
Well the fact is that is ¥10000 cheaper to fly from almost any airport in Japan to New Chitose than take a supposed Shinkansen from Sendai to Sapporo much much more Tokyo or Osaka. Not to mention faster travel times flying.
@@TheBaldr It is very poor that JR East cut the night trains to Tohoku and Hokkaido after introducing the Hokkaido Shinkansen. Though the carriages were getting to the end of their life, they were popular trains and efficient for getting people up to and from Sapporo the next day. JR just gave all those kind of customers to the airlines especially since the Hokkaido shinkansen only goes as far as Hakodate (and not even into that city as such). I got the impression JR East had a similar short-sightedness towards the night trains as DB and SNCF had when they got rid of all/most of their night trains. It's interesting that he French govt has realised it's mistake and SNCF has recently reintroduced many night train routes in France.

I've always enjoyed your videos. Thank you for the explanations and information. While occasionally I notice the syntax is off its always still understandable. How fluent in English are you? When you traveled in Europe how hard was it for you? Or was it hard at all?
