    The reason Kingambit signature move is called Kowtow Cleave is because in it's animation it puts it's head against the ground in the process cleaving whatever is in the way. Kowtowing is a form of showing extreme respect by bowing on the ground with your forehead against the ground.

    I think it's worthwhile to mention Mousehold's other signature move, Tidy Up. It not only raises Mousehold's attack and speed stats by one stage (it's best stats depending on the build) but it eliminates ALL entry hazards, sticky web, and substitutes on the field. This works particularly well on opposing subs, something I've been seeing often with the introduction of shed tail

      Honestly not so sure about Tidy Up, at least in Doubles. Hazards are way less prevalent (a lot less switching means that punishing switches is less good), and the preferred Normal type defensive option is Protect, due to its greater versatility. That said, absurd in Singles.

    • @ikarainijirai
      @ikarainijirai 2 роки тому +11

      Two things:
      One is that this move will not fail even if there are no entry hazards on the field, so it's essentially a Dragon Dance but always with extra benefits
      Two is that you should NEVER use this move if you got Maushold into the field via Shed Tail, as using this move clears your own substitute as well

    Fun fact: Arboliva is the only Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet that learns Terrain Pulse. After being hit, terrain pulse is Arboliva's strongest move with no drawbacks. Paired with its low speed allowing it to invest in other stats, it can stay in for a long time and do a ton of damage while healing its ally.

    I think Garganacl deserves a spot, or an honorable mention at least. It's impossible to kill quickly, has pretty good offensive stats, and ALSO has the sIgnAtuRe aTacK salt cure, which keeps doing damage even after you switch out. It's low speed is low enough for trick room, and on top of salt cure, they decided to let it have iron defense AND body press. This Minecraft golem is very strong and even stronger in trick room, definitely a fitting strength for the saltyest pokemon ever.

    I love the backstory behind Baxcalibur. So Baxcalibur was inspired by two things. Kaiju, or giant Japanese monsters that are humanoid in shape that attack cities (like Godzilla). And the Concavenator, an actual extinct genus of theropod dinosaurs that lived approximately 130 million years ago and was first discovered in the Las Hoyas geological formation near Cuenca, Spain! Since Paldea is of course based off Spain (as well as Portugal), it only makes sense it's based off a fossil found there.

      That's exactly what I thought when I first realized what his stats were. I also thought that one day we could get a counterpart line of chess pieces as well that weren't used like Knight, Rook and Queen. The Queen counterpart of Kingambit would be very fast and less bulky compared to Kingambit since in chess you are protecting the King hence Kingambit's high defense and the Queen would be less bulky and way faster since it is the best and most mobile piece on the board. I seriously want a convergent evolution concept of this like they did with Wiglett and Toedscool or maybe just a brand new line as counterparts.

I’m not entirely sure and it’s been a while since I even played Chess but it’s safe to say the Queen piece would be the final evolution. I just wish that there was another line so there’s be a full Chess team in the game. There could even be a mini game where it’s literally just Chess but it’s with the Pokémon in the next Generation. Of course with an added gimmick that makes it different than just Chess.

The defence buff from snow might help ice types live a little longer and make use of their offensive intersections. 1: felt meowscarda could be on the list, having an amazing signature move flower trick which never misses, always gets a crit and is a base 70 move
    it speed is a threat as it can run life orb or choice band while outspeeding most of the meta. It also gets knock off, sucker punch, play rough, U-turn and other moves im lazy to search up. Not to mention its hidden ability protean which it can play with the foes
    it can run tera type grass/dark for STAB (same time attack bonus) and i do not know any other usefull tera types for it
    2: kilowattrel can outspeed most of the meta, being the second fastest flying type, it gets a new ability called wind absorb. Wind absorb charges kilowattrel and makes it more powerful i think, it also gets volt absorb, but the best thing here is its hidden ability, Competitive. I prefer giving kilowattrel a life orb with max speed investment ( 383 max speed without scarf + timid nature ) while its max special attack is 306. Honestly I’m not sure if this belongs on the list, but at least an honorable mention is Espathra.
    Espathra has two great abilities in opportunist and speed boost. Opportunist will copy the opponents boosted stats whenever they use a stat boosting move. This can also be paired with mirror herb to get those stats 2x.
    It also has access to stored power, which can make it the best stored power user in the game.
    Furthermore it gets dark type coverage in dazzling gleam and roost.
    Another amazing thing about it is the potential in speed boost with stored power. This is the first stored power user to get passive boosts after every turn. Plus, it also gets calm mind, and you can give it mirror herb to copy an opponent’s stat boost once to further add onto your stored power.
    They have a good Hp stat of 95, but pretty mid defenses, both being 60. However it’s special attack is 101 and their speed is 105. Overall, they’re very unique and can be very very good if used correctly.

    Although not related to the video, eviolite primeape will be seeing some play for sure. Primarily because it also gets rage fist, and has a higher speed stat than annihilape with only I believe 10 less attack. And yeah yeah it's HP stat is low, the damage counter on Rage Fist does not get reset upon fainting. Pawmot and Rabsca's revival blessing does *NOT* reset the damage counter when annihalape and primeape get revived
    Meaning: Both Eviolite Primape and Annihilape both can be swapped in and tank as many hits as possible (or use Maushold's bullet seed in doubles) to knock them out. Upon being revived, they both have a 300 base stat attack. So we have a moderately bulky 95 base speed and 105 base attack, both respectable, with a spammable base 300 power move that hits the majority of pokemon for neutral damage. And we ALSO have a bulky base 90 speed and 115 attack pokemon to do the same thing
    Annihilape will be banned at some point. Or revival blessing will be banned. Regardless, if annihilape gets banned the you have primeape eviolite as a backup. Yeah annihilape can run choice scarf and just spam the move, which primeape cannot, but a 95 base speed stat is fast enough that with sticky web and/or string shot/icy wind will make primeape faster than the almost every single pokemon.
    Terrifying pokemon. Everyone flipped about Houndstone, but I said since day 1 that annihilape and eviolite primeape are a THREAT

    I feel like Houndstone deserved a spot. Even though it has poor stats, it has an amazing signature move.

    I didn't think Toedscruel was gonna get a placing but I'm surprised it didn't get a nomination
    A specially-bulky ground type with the ability to apply status regardless of ability; it was basically made to counter Gholdengo, and also does a great job countering a lot of Magic Bounce pokemon since most of them are special attackers. I don't know about you but a spore user whose status move can't be stopped sounds pretty strong to me.

    I've seen your shorts before and really enjoyed them but this is the first long form videos and I love the animations and graphics. Definitely deserving of a sub! Can't wait to see more in the future.

    I think a very interesting strat for Palafin in doubles is leading it with Arboliva and using flip turn on your Arboliva since it does practically no damage and sets up both grassy terrain and your palafin hero mode

    I'm surprised Wolfey didn't add his "Minecraft Donkey Kong" Garganacl to the list, considering how difficult it is to put down and its annoyingly good signature move.

    Glad that Armorouge's in the Top Ten, as it's the whole reason why I want to get Scarlet over Violet. Also, the Pokemon embodiment of Totsugeki being number 1's kinda funny, considering the horror stories some Guilty Gear players went through against that move (not a Guilty Gear guy, but I am a fighting game guy). The Totsugeki seems to transcend though multiple genres of gaming lol.

    Bisharp has always had access to sucker punch as an egg move. I know because that's how I used mine in UM (i skipped swsh). Swords dance, sucker punch, defiant, and built with maxed atk. Can tank a few hits or swap into something like sticky web and sweep. I'm sure with it's lower speed and higher bulk that Kingambit is fine, but also better for trick room. Gotta get myself a 0 speed IV one cause I always saw giving bisharp speed as a bad investment anyway.

    I'm actually surprised I haven't seen more people talking about/using Espathra. Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like it has a lot of potential. It can be a great special sweeper with base 105 speed + Speed Boost and Lumina Crash, but it can also be a decent support pokemon as well with Frisk and Ally Switch/Helping Hand. And even its signature ability, Opportunist, I feel has a lot of potential with how common Dondozo is, as well as set up moves in general like nasty plot Gholdengo, etc.

    Not a disagreement, but since you said you read the comments, I just wanted to say that I'm loving these analytical videos about the new games, and your recent videos have all been exceptionally high quality and really enjoyable. Thanks for all your hard work!

    I feel as though Garganacl deserves a slot over Arboliva (even though i think that Arboliva is underrated). I think that this is because having a iron defense body press mon is already a massive benefit, it has a ton of natural bulk, benefits a lot from tera with tera ghost and tera grass, gets a bonus resist to ghost thanks to its ability purifying salt, as well as being immune to status conditions which is a massive benefit for any iron defense mon, and its signature move salt cure is a massively helpful pressure tool in a lot of scenarios against ghost, steel and water type mons which normally would be a counter to it. Also believe maushold deserves its spot on the list. Still a great video thank you Wolfey! :)

    11:27 an attack not missing is the best secondary effect for me. From experience I feel like anything below 100% accuracy is unreliable because even with a 5% chance to miss, that move would miss EVERY time when I absolutely need it to hit

    One thing worth mentioning with Arboliva is how it has Terrain Pulse, one of the only users in SV I believe. Combined with Strength Sap, it’s low speed and it’s Seed sower ability and it’s able to cripple an attacker and get a strong 100 base grass type move in one turn.

    Goldengho is even MORE crazy in singles because it blocks both defog and rapid spin, making it the single best option for protecting your hazards.

  • @grim_blazer9120
    @grim_blazer9120 2 роки тому +1

    Another thing not mentioned in here (prolly cause hazards aren’t common in VGC) but good as gold also stops DEFOG from working which is INSANE for hazard stack teams in singles

    • @JoeThomas-lu6fy
      @JoeThomas-lu6fy 2 роки тому +1

      Also, Gholdengo is immune to rapid spin and mortal spin, so the only way to clear hazards against a Gholdengo is use Tidy Up with Mauhold, or wait until Cinderace can be brought in and use court change.

    I would personally bump up Gholdengo at least 2 slots just because of how absurdly broken its ability and signature move is.
    Not being able to cripple it in any shape or form from status moves is frankly game breaking.
    Pair it up with an Indeedee or a prankster user and you have an absolute monster on your hand.
    Other than that, great video as per usual! You're killing it!

    Ok, imma give some opinions here.
    1. Armarouge & Ceruledge. As of now, Armarouge is in the DOU tier while Ceruledge is in DUU. Im not an expert, although i will say that Armarouge is a lot better than i thought it would be. I thought neither would get above UU, due too their, what i thought when i first saw them, lackluster stats. I am pleased to see Armarouge doing better, though.
    2. Palafin. I have used Palafin A LOT, mostly under the role of a Kamikaze. My main strat is to lead with a choice scarf Palafin, and use Flip Turn to switch into Cyclizar. Then i use Shed Tail to switch back into a now hero form and substitute Palafin. I then Teresitalize into a water type and spam Wave Crash until Palafin faints. This, when in Ubers, the only tier Palafin is even allowed in, usually picks up two or three KO’s.
    3. Houndstone. I do kinda wish Houndstone at least made honorable mentions. His signature move, last respects, is 300 base power when its the last pokemon left in singles, which is busted. Its stats are mid, but it IS in Ubers, and i also like Houndstone, so i wanted to talk about it.
    4. Tinkaton. Tinkaton is my absolute favorite pokemon they added this gen. I have used it on nearly every team i have made for Gen 9, with good success. The set I usually run is Gigaton Hammer, Play rough, Fake Out/Protect, Swords Dance/Protect/Coverage Move, usually Ice Hammer. One strat i tried was running Assault Vest with Ice Hammer on a Trick Room team. Not too much success, but if i was a little better at team building I think it could have success.
