I think the advice I would give to all pros who want to try a gravel event is finishing is actually the primary goal not winning…winning is the icing on top but winning at all costs or the only goal is missing the point of gravel…its an adventure by design
Great interview C with Mr. Morton. I watched his Great Divide ride via YT and that portrayed his love of offroad cycling. While I'm sure the town of Emporia is grateful to have ex-pro and current professional riders performing in UB, I hope it stays true to its roots and doesn't get too big for its britches and forces people to move to other events that are less stressful as he mentions in min 13 about the "eliteness effect". In the very few years I've watched gravel races they certainly are snowballing in size and from an average rider's perspective the fun of riding a bike potentially gets pushed to the back burner.
Good point and I agree with you. Unfortunately for riders like us, I think these events will continue to get bigger and bigger each year with more World Tour and former World Tour riders rolling in. Let’s hope the organizers don’t forget what has made gravel such a popular alternative option for the everyday cyclist.
I love Lachlan's training perspective: hitting his necessary training goals in the context of enjoying and appreciating life and cycling. Very cool, smart and inspirational!
The true test that gravel remains gravel is that everybody still complains about the course…loose gravel, water crossings, too many choke points, cattle roaming, etc… so long as it is just sort of wake up and a group of buddies race point to point it will be fine
Nice to hear he kinda did it all intuitive. Of course science tricles down, but sometimes your feeling is the best to listen to, and can actually be ahead of science 🙏
Great interview! Way to let him talk…..Haven’t seen you interview before but this uninterrupted long form is cool
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for taking the time to watch.
10/10, thank you for letting him finish his answers all the way through
Not a problem. And thank you for taking the time to watch.
Loving these interviews. Can we get Dylan Johnson, he could talk about tyres for hours!
I’d love to chat with Dylan. I’ll try to get him on for you guys.
What a pleasure to listening to this dude talk

You for yourself deserve to have the best set and lighting, all the best!
Nice to hear he kinda did it all intuitive.

A great interview.. I'd love to see an interview on how and why Lachlan set up his 2024 Unbound bike in detail.
Thanks, William! I appreciate you taking time out of your day to watch.
Lachlan has changed cycling not bragging just showing regular cyclists it’s fun too get on the bike and have fun.
Agreed
Great interview!
Thanks, Gabby. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
As genuine as genuine gets, such an enjoyable interview.

Thanks for hanging out and watching!
Very nice, thank you, subscribed.
Thanks, Greg. I appreciate that.
Hers A breath of fresh air 🫁
Sounds like a great, healthy approach to training and competition.
Agreed!
Spirit of Gravel runs strong in Lachlan….
Lachlan Morton is Bad Ass
Lachlan do the XL next year…FKT
13:20 CC: Lifetime Grand Prix
blows my mind that the majority of people didn't know he completed the tour solo in 18 days. Unbound is nothing for him.
Forgot about that! That was dope.
