So interesting seeing Nic working on your Bike. He seems so nice, calm and professional. Best Bike tech video I have seen in the last months! Thank you!
Hutchinson adding those tyres to their line-up is news to me, they look very interesting for my usecase. Next time i need a new set this will definitely be on the short list.
i actually take a new razer to the drops bar tape so i have clearance to run flat kit that expansion plugs the ends and looks cleaner if you get the lines straight. thank you for making the back and forth into a video it speaks dividends to a well versed mechanic with the right tools, not pushing snake oil.
Aren’t you supposed to rotate the wheel with the alignment gauge so you have the same point of reference. Otherwise you might just measuring a wonky wheel
It's nice to see no moaning of pressfit and saying it should be that crappy t47. That bb looked perfectly good to me. They definitely need changing or taking out and cleaning around shells regular. Can't say im a fan of grease round the shells, though, all the dirt and dust that gets down inside the frame it sticks in the grease and acts like a grinding paste. It can wear the carbon shells... think I prefer retaining compound🤷🏻♂️
10:15 btw the carbon aero bars from Deda has also big enough holes to get the olives through (at least from shifter to stem) I wasn’t exticed to possible have to do the whole draining and bleeding thing just to have my favourite bars. But I was lucky
I'm surprised to see that when setting the rr derailleur hanger you don't use the same spot on the wheel IE rotate the same part of the wheel to the to the measurement point. This takes out any error due to wheel buckle ?
They say! Support your local bike shop, but when I phoned Nic’s place to ask about upgrading my bikes gearing, handlebars etc. I was told that it couldn’t be done, the mechanic just didn’t appear interested.
But this chain checker... This park Tool is worthless, with flattop chains you have to use park Tool cc-4 or Sram checker with 3 points of measurment. What is more chain should be tensioned. Measurment in this film says nothing.
I’m very lucky that Nic is a good friend so not sure it would be the best example of how much a service such as this would cost and it would vary from shop to shop. Sorry this doesn’t help much.
Couldn’t you flush the bearings and grease them and extend the life? I know they’re technically sealed and won’t be perfect but just hate that we throw so much away which as a society isn’t sustainable…. Love my revolt even though it’s not this model.
Anyone suggesting mech hangers shouldn't be straightened is an uninformed or misinformed person with little or no actual experience or understanding of the subject.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27) And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: (Acts 17:30) For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. (2 Corinthians 7:10) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:5) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)
Nic seems like a great guy and very knowledgeable when I see him on yours and Mr Cades channel.
Nic is a great guy.
It’s a joy to see this video. Also, kudos to Giant for producing dependable product. Reliabiliity over bling factor. No drama 👍
The bearings geekery I didn't know I needed

Wow, thanks!
If only we had a Nick in every bike shop.
Last week I bought a Revolt Advanced 2 thanks to you, Josh. I love it.
Glad you like it. Such a great bike.
Finally a bike mechanic talking sense especially rear hanger and bar tape although I personally like to wrap from the top because it looks really neat
I'm sure Nic has bad days, but every time I see him, he looks like he really enjoys his work.
A master at work, especially when he does bar tape.
Love this , great to hear Nic talk through what’s he’s doing
Keep up the great work Josh , you are a credit to the younger generation. Nick flawless mechanic too 😎
Thanks ☺️
Lovely bike, amazing work from Nic.
Great video,right on! 👍😁
I really enjoyed this video !
Cheers for the vid, Really enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it
I wish all bike shops were like this 😂
Fantastic job...

unexpectedly, the giant revolt seems easy to maintain. that's news to me.
I got a similar press fit BB tool and yes it’s a brilliant tool this one 👍🏾👍🏾
do you have a link?
+1 to the Win Wing mudguards. Totally recommend.

Great vid as always. Your audio is only coming through one channel via the Rode Go mic
this is bike building ASMR

Hi guys the bottom bracket. Does it come with a sleeve to protect the crank axel? If not how do you stop the cable rubbing the though the axel?
The level of profession from nic is outstanding.
Can you tell me which bar tape he used? Thanks!
Easton microfiber bar tape
@@Josh-Reid thanks! How do you like it? You had different ones before iirc.
@@alkfema I like it. Comfortable.
Hey Josh, I have a revolt advance 2 but I am not sure what is the correct Bottom Bracket for it, I will put axs rival 2x crankset.
Have you got a link for the bottom bracket tool?
Any dirt inside the seatpost, perhaps?
Could you convert this to a flat bar setup?
How much would this service cost ?
Great vid, thanks! If you could just, like, film his tool wall for a bit, it would really make me feel inadequate and inferior.
What brand were those brake pads again ?
I’d like to know this as well. A pad that doesn’t squeal is the holy grail.
SwissStop RS
@@Josh-Reid thanks so much 👍
What kind of saddle are you using? The shape looks great.
It’s a Giant Approach SL
Very nice, how much was the service? 🤣
I beat the living snot out of my Revolt - it’s a great bike.
Such a great bike. It’s taken me to some amazing places.
They say! Support your local bike shop, but when I phoned Nic’s place to ask about upgrading my bikes gearing, handlebars etc. I was told that it couldn’t be done, the mechanic just didn’t appear interested.
Where is Nic’s bike shop
Newcastle.
What is that genius bottom bracket removal tool???
Enduro Bearings BRT-003 and it is genius.
@@Josh-Reid to bad, out of production
Is there not a warranty on the bearings that come with the bike?
Generally you don't get one on consumable parts. You've got to remember as well that 3-4 months for Josh is a year or two for most riders
What is Nic surname
What is the mudguard brand
Ass Savers
Ass Saver Win Wing
why does the mechanic need such a big axe? 19:57
What brand bb tool is that?!
Enduro Bearings
Great eideo
How many km was it for the bike to require the servicing and partial rebuild? My kilometers are creeping up, but spread out across a few bikes.
Not sure on how many km exactly but I think it was more the amount of river crossings the bike had which caused the bearings to need replacing.
That makes sense. Our conditions are very benign by comparison so need not worry yet
What was the name of your mudguards
Ass Saver Win Wing
Sometimes even with a pneumatic driver it’s impossible to undo that sram crank bolt…
Am I the only one getting all the voices in the left ear? It's like the balance is off... (not an earphone issue... just cehcked)
Nic is only left, yeah, Josh is right
No problem here.
waaaaaaaaaait .......... you dont need to replace the olive????????????? wtf ive been cutting them off on my bike all the time :(
❤️🇰🇪👏🏿

You never mentioned how much the Rebuild cost ??

Such bad sound
Understood, but a bit misleading
