I have a suspicion that some people mistype themselves because they confuse Inferior/4th functions with Blindspot/7th functions. People who only look at the 4th function model might categorize a function as something they are supposed to be unable to grasp and assign it to the 4th slot, when they may be in reality their types Blindspots (I may be oversimplifying here). This could be a reason why it's so common to INxPs to mistype themselves as INxJ and vice-versa. INxPs have Blindspot Se, which happens to be the Inferior function among INxJs, while INTJs might confuse their Blindspot Fe as Inferior Fe, INFJs might confuse their Blindspot Te as Inferior Te, and so on. I have this suspicion because I often see people who type themselves as INxJs describe their experience with Se in a similar way that I, an INFP, would describe it.
Chris, can you please talk about the connection between ISFP and INTJ (in cognitive functions)? As you said in the beginning of the video that blog posts aren't the best way to get information - I remember a few months ago reading a post that said "an ISFP is a depressed/defeated INTJ, and an INTJ is a self-centered/egoistical ISFP". What are your thoughts on this? (Great videos, by the way. It's nice to hear someone talk 'fluidly' without distractions or stopping)
I frequently tested as INFJ and i had my husband and best friend of 13 years take the test and their results typed me as INTJ. I thought that was interesting.
I totally agree with that most people actually can see themselves, or at least as long as they have had some concern for introspection or honest self-awareness. I also agree about that "16 personalities", which is based on the "Big 5" inventory, is not a bad aproach, on the contrary it is pretty good. Realizing the asociation between the Big 5 traits and the "4 letters" system was actually very ingenious, whoever made it. The real problem behind all the mistyping that comes from that site is not inventory itself but rather how people is responding to the inventory. They either don't understand the questions or do not know themselves (or haven't differentiated the true self from the social self or "persona" or how they want themselves to be). This issue makes itself so clear when you see so much people getting borderline scores (around 50%) for each one of the 4 traits or letters or dimentions. How can you not answer consistently for any of the traits! How can you be so clueless or insecure of how you are! Well, perhaps it is so precisely because most people coming into MBTI are those who are looking most desperately for that answer... PS: MBTI and Socionics may have some differences when it comes to the 4 letter codes, however the assessment for each one of the 8 cognitive functions is pretty much the same.
What do you think the correlation is between certain mbti types and mental health conditions? I got typed as an INTJ and later I realised that I might be autistic (looking to get diagnosed soon). I realised that the descriptions for autism and INTJ are a bit similar... What I was thinking: From a certain point there is someone's personality and the MBTI model and being autistic describes the personality from different perspectives. What is your opinion about this?/ Can you recommend reading in the topic? Or is MBTI just for neurotypical people and the model is not applicable for neurodivergent people? I heard that it is an assumption that the person who is taking the test doesn't suffer from mental illnesses
I've noticed more people recently talking about the overlaps that can be found between MBTI & autism, ADHD, HSPs, etc & in a Personality Hacker podcast on ADHD they suggested that the MILO catalogue might be a good resource for people interested in studies on these topics. I haven't checked out the website yet myself, but here is a link- www.capt.org/MILO/
I have an interesting experience about taking the test for another person. When I take the test from the 16 personality.com, my type is INTJ-A. My sister's is INFJ-T. Last time we tried to take the test for each other. I answered the questions pretending I was her, she pretending to be me. The results were both INTJ-T. She never knew how confident I am, so she changed me from Assertive to Turbulent. I never knew how she is affected by emotions, so I made her a thinker. Conclusion: We can never really understand how others think and feel. Even when we try to, we project ourselves to them.
So interesting about the “buddy system”. I did this with my sister, we are 11 months apart, and we got the similar results in taking typing tests as each other. She got ESTP for herself and I got ESFP for her. I got INFJ for me and she got INTJ for me 😆 interesting that she judges herself and others as thinking types and I judge her and others as feeling types.
This was actually the way I found out I was INTJ someone else typed me and they were convinced that was my personality, now I study all cognitive functions to learn more about typing
Incredible video as always! Even though I agree with everything you said, I once read something that made me doubt self-assessment. It says that what you think of yourself is almost the opposite of yourself. Because, if you are behaving naturally, then you won't notice your actions. For example, if someone is a selfish person who doesn't care about anyone besides themselves, when they help someone, they will note to their head "I am a very helpful person". What do you think about this?
Dave superpowers from the system "Objectivie personality" says this. Personally I would not say say this phenomenon is that common. However, it does sometimes seem to happen as some EFP's will think they are IJ's. However, in general I find people are closer being right about themsleves rather than closer to thinking the 180 degrees opposite.
What does a typing session look like? I really want to know my type for sure but also have anxiety talking to new people and don't know myself well so not even sure someone else could type me lol
This was very helpful! I’ve been loose with the distinction between personality systems often, and now I am considering how that can interfere with accurate typing. Seems like that should have been obvious. 😅 Thank you Chris! ✨
I was typed by my workplace many years ago, back then I typed as INTJ-T, I type as INTJ-A now days. Also myself & coworkers' Enneagram & Ocean were typed as well.
Trying to not treat different systems as the same is super difficult when you don't know enough to realize there even *are* different systems. 😬 Also sitting in that chair makes you like you have giant gauge earrings XDDDD And ooh, that burn about not trusting self reporting 😂 "science just doesn't support that" XDD
You have far too much material and you are speaking way too fast‼️I’ve been working wit people for over 40 years and if you keep this pace you will burn yourself and your audience out before you accomplish your goals‼️ Slow down your presentation and you will still succeed‼️❤️‼️

Jesus Christ, same functions, different order.
Great tips Chris. Thanks for your insight.

"Buddy System" is the way to be MOST accurate, I think, as long as there is decent awareness and communication

Ive been looking into getting tested for autism too lmao rip
@@leggi_bois4eva I recently joined some neurodivergent societies and I finally feel that I am (sometimes) making sense to anyone

NTs, INTJs and INTPs especially, tend to seem autistic?

Hi! I wonder what is your opinion about C.S: Joseph youtube channel? In specific, do you find seasons 1 & 3 a good starting point?
Thanks!
As long as you're not an INFJ! He REALLY has a strange, unreasonable issue with them! (TBF, I think we all have 1 or 2 "trigger" types, haha.)
This was actually the way I found out I was INTJ someone else typed me and they were convinced that was my personality, now I study all cognitive functions to learn more about typing
I meant to buy that book for christmas, but they didn't have it, so that year gifts were differing.
I know where the door is, no need to help me ^^✌

It's like avoid tapping-in unto insecurities and or egos.. That's a good outlook.
Where you recall reading this?

Why? What did you think that you were?
INTJ’s are awesome and intelligent people! I am not one, BTW
