    As a dog rescue, we have a ton of kibble on the floor! We were getting frustrated that our V8 wasn't picking it up (without us picking it up and putting it over the kibble, like you showed). We'll get the fluffy tool now, thanks to your awesome demonstration! Thank you!

    Great video! This was my one big question that I had, and I’ve watched about six Dyson V8 animal reviews already and none of them have really answered this question in detail, so thank you for taking the time and effort to put such a detailed review together. It’s much appreciated!

    Awesome breakdown of fluffy head. My choice was OEM for like $125 or fakes for about $40. I went OEM for warranty. Hope someone reviews one of the non-branded ones. Thanks for the help.

    The direct drive carpet/hardfloor head will preform just as well as the fluffy tool on hardfloors in terms of dust and small debris like rice, cous cous, pieces of small flat paper, glitter, etc. But the fluffy shines in big debris pick up, using less power than the carpet head and to keep scattering in control (although it can spit some debris back out in the front, or flick big piece of dirt in front of it). But to be fair, the direct drive carpet and hardfloors head doesn't scatter as much as you may think.

    The fluffy is amazing because it seems to really polish the surface that I run it over and I've picked up more dust than I do with my regular vacuum.

    If you use the hard tool on hard floors it will wear out and flatten the bristles so it's best to use the soft roller.

    I was debating about the soft brush and ended up getting it. I won't use the regular roller at all on any wood, tile flooring after doing my own comparison. Definitely worth getting.

    Got my fluffy roller on order for my V11 Torque. I see where both roller types are beneficial. With 2,600 sq ft of hardwood flooring, dust is my main concern and I can see where the fluffy roller would work well for attacking dust.

    Our sons spill popped popcorn on the floor sometimes and the Fluffy head "eats" it while the direct drive motorhead would just push it. Fluffy head makes a cleaner hard floor but the motorhead still works well.

    We no longer have carpeting except for a few throw rugs. The man who installed our oak floors was impressed by the Dyson fluffy head and felt it was the best head for the wood floors. I love it and feel that our brush head might leave some light scratches. The fluffy head does a fantastic job of cleaning and dusting. I use eithe the small motorized head or the larger head for the carpets. If you have wood and tile like we do, the fluffy head is invaluable! Love it! It is a more efficient use of the battery because it glides with ease over bare floors.

      I find the direct driver cleaning head (non-fluffy) picks up longer strands of either hair or dust with less fuss including sucking it in from around the vacuum head albeit it still has to be very close as opposed to the fluffy requiring the head actually go over the exact spot I.e you have to be more precise in ensuring your strokes are either slightly over lapping or being mindful of the exact coverage of the head. I can happily be 1-2 cm out from my previous stroke without overlap and still pick up the surround dust/hair whereas the fluffy would simply leave the it there (this is in the low and medium settings)

    It's kinda dumb that the base Dyson packages offer no choice of cleaning head. With all this talk of HEPA filters and easy-empty bins and allergies, you'd think Dyson would be catering to people who value the air quality in their home and thus DO NOT have rugs at all. The fact that they pack in a cleaning head that works better on rugs and can't pick up the smallest objects on hardfloors really makes little sense. Hard to believe this is not a way to try and upsell people into the more expensive packages.

    • @leepspvideo
      @leepspvideo  5 років тому +1

      Thanks. The supplied motorhead is fine for hard floors. I use mine on my hard floors upstairs. It does pick up smaller objects, It’s the larger objects on hard floors where the fluffy head excels.

    I have linoleum floors with a free range bunny, 4 cats & 2 tiny humans... lots of little round kibble, snacks, pellets to vacuum every day. The brush roller just shoots everything across the floor. I’ve genuinely hated my dyson since I got it because of that, was SO disappointed. The fluffy head is like $150 so I’ve been so hesitant, will it even work since the brush roller is SO USELESS in my house?! Definitely going to grab one now!

    I recently moved into an apartment with a fully carpeted bedroom that has a gray color. After a few months of using a fluffy vacuum head on the carpet, I noticed that the carpet's pattern is not as clean as it used to be. Upon checking the cleaner compartment, I found gray fibers, which I initially thought were cat hair or debris left by the previous tenant. Now, I suspect that the fluffy vacuum head is pulling out fibers from the carpet. I wonder if using a soft roller would be a better option to protect the carpet. Or is it inevitable that both fluffy heads and soft rollers can slowly damage the carpet, regardless of which one is used?

      I’m not sure if the fluffy head would be better for a large amount of hair on a hard floor. I suspect the ordinary carpet head may do a better job as there is a large space between the brushes. The best bet would be to bag up some hair and ask them in a local store if you could try both.

      Hi, it only fits the models it comes supplied with. I just checked the Animal and it doesn’t fit. It also doesn’t fit the basic white v6. The contacts are shaped differently.

    does the soft roller cleaner head avoid the streaks left on the floor by the regular head? I have V8 model and have found (as many others online) that the vacuum is leaving streaks on the hardwood floors

      It hasn’t happened to me. Maybe something get stuck on the roller, or the wood is too soft.

    Which Dyson head should you use on loop pile Berber carpet please?

    • @leepspvideo
      @leepspvideo  5 років тому +1

      I found this website.
      bestvacuumcleanerinfo.com/best-vacuum-for-berber-carpet/
      It seems to suggest using a cleaner with a roller Brush you can switch off. This isn’t an option on Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners. You can turn off the brush roller on mains powered Dyson’s.
      Dyson have made hard floor tools in the past like this one
      www.espares.co.uk/product/es1751245?+shopping&+shopping&mkwid=sGt4jns3i&pcrid=174054713172&kword=&match=&plid=&pdv=t&gclid=CjwKCAjw8LTmBRBCEiwAbhh-6DDpDfJpb9CcqdR4V0cj8RDiUZHt1M_DGU-rvzPDa5OCV9w9To3IxxoCdYQQAvD_BwE
      I would contact Dyson or Berber direct, the soft roller head may be suitable.

    I'm thinking of buying a V8 Animal from Costco (it's on sale at the moment). I have a combination of hardwood, linoleum, and carpeting in my small home. The V8 Animal does not come with the fluffy head, so my one concern is that it might scratch my hardwood floors (I don't generally have any bigger pieces of anything to vacuum up so I don't need the fluffy head for that reason). Can anyone tell me if the carpet cleaning head that comes with the V8 Animal would definitely scratch hard wood? I do like the idea of not having to change the heads, and I think the carpet cleaning head would be enough for me, but I'd hate to ruin my hard wood.

    • @leepspvideo
      @leepspvideo  5 років тому +1

      The Motörhead that’s supplied with the V8 is listed as suitable for all floors. I exclusively use the Motörhead upstairs in my home which has all hard floors with the exception of the landing carpet. The brushes are much finer than most vacuum cleaners.
