Is there any timeline on when you will be releasing your version? I've put off replacing mine in anticipation of yours, but it's been a long time since you released an update on this.
I recall asking about Racingline's PCV replacement Oil Catch can on one of the live episodes and Jivad pretty much blew off my questions stating the B9 PCV is pretty stout. Now all of a sudden the PCV is not so stout...
We have been working on our own catch can kit for a year now, so not sure why I would blow off a question like that. In fact I do remember answering your question, and yes at that time we did not know the PCV was a failure point, then thanks to our car burning down we learned it is. Everyone thought that factory PCV was good back then, now everyone knows it’s a point of failure.
In addition, it was mentioned the Racingline item was in house and evaluation/testing was being performed. What results can you share that lead you to maintain both inlet inputs?
Mine just failed. I have 2018 S4 with 66k. I've been having oil consumption problems since 45k. Had the oil filter housing replaced 2 years ago and still had issues. Hopefully, this helps. Thank goodness for my extended warranty.
I assume the unwanted ejection of the oil cap is due to the oil cap unthreading? It does not just blow off from the full threaded on position, correct? If it's a case of loosening by boost pressure (unthreading) and as a safety precaution, it may be possible to drill a small hole in the oil cap perpendicular to the slot which runs from the 9 o'clock position to the 3 o'clock position (drill the hole closest to the 9 o'clock position) and implement a safety wire style fix where the oil cap is tied off to the nearest engine hoist eyelet hole. When the oil cap tries to rotate counterclockwise, the safety wire mechanism will hold it in place to prevent that unwanted movement. The negative of this type of fix is the inconvenience of having to remove the safety wire style mechanism when needing to fill oil and replace it when done. Maybe use some type of keyring within the oil cap hole and a reusable heavy-duty cable tie (one that can withstand the environment of the engine bay).
UPDATE: We have now released our PCV Breather Hose and Catch Can upgrades to remedy this failure point! See this video here for details: ua-cam.com/video/-f5TDRxLM_I/v-deo.htmlsi=ZvnQ9f6vDjfOvqgA
is the catch can kit also going to be compatible with the rs5 2.9tt? thank you guys for bringing awareness to this issue, looking forward to the release of the kit!
hmm i get a stutter when cruising with a catch can only when going slow, i think nick just explained why.. because of not being under negative vacumm when cruising... looks like best idea would be go back to stock as loong as check valve works, and wait for 034 one.
I just bought a used , 100 mile , 2017, Q-7 ( supercharged 3.0 t TFSI ) burns through a quart of oil every 300 miles. Do you have a tutorial on how to diagnose for a bad PCV on this model? Last week I just did a B-12 Chemtool piston soak hoping that it would help. Too early to tell yet. No dash engine fault lights indicating anything . But I suspect the PCV may be the underlying cause. I just don't want to have to pull the supercharger and swap the PCV on speculation. Any help on how to definitively diagnose the PCV is appreciated??
At least the PCV is easily accessible in this new V6 and not a PITA like the B8 3.0t's. Still a shame to see Audi not able to make a robust PCV system for over 20 years. They'll get it right im sure when all their cars are electric lol.
Unsure if mine has failed. I can blow through where you said I shouldn’t in smallish volumes. If I blow harder I can feel the plunger closing and air stops. Should this happen?
Thank you! It’s appreciated. The moment you have your catch can available for sale on the 2.9 RS5 I’ll be buying one. Perchance an ETA - even if a rough guess?
So I replaced the hose and the inlet it’s connected to and I also checked the old hose and inlet it seemed to hold pressure fine but I still replaced it anyway since I had it off. I cleared the code and it came back on. Do you think it can be the oil crank casing that’s causing the same code to come back on?! Their is no oil around the crankcase itself that’s connected to the motor but I did notice a tiny bit on the top ring of the oil cap but not sure if that from the last oil change that was done. Any tips?!
@RaNm2418 it was my evap purge solenoid that was going bad. Replaced that i cleared the code and no issues at all. I have a 2018 s5 and not a lot of people had to change theirs purge solenoid and I have lower miles I’m now at 65k other ppl I know are around 90k plus and have not had to change it yet. I was the unlucky one but the price wasn’t bad. Theirs an Audi parts site for the USA all oem parts ships rlly quickly. Bought the inlet and hoses and also my purge solenoid. The inlet was a bitch to replace cause of the lower screw on the inlet itself. The purge valve was really easy to replace took me 10mins tops just. You just have to buy new hose clamps since Audis uses a one time hose clamp clip.
I had to replace the PCV system on my 2.9TT under warranty at 16,000 miles due to failure. I’m still interested in upgrading to your solution when it comes out.
Super informative, thank you. Other than oil seepage at the cap, are there any other symptoms that might show the check valve is failing? Something that may tip you off prior to unbolting things? Something VAG-Com might detect?
Don't quote me on this but, What I've heard is; You may also see the engine burning a little oil on the process, making it look like you didn't use enough oil when changing it/replacing it, or that you need to top it off sooner than before, or ever.
I’ve replaced the PCV system twice within a year now, the car has only some 20k miles. But one way or another, I still hear a annoying whistle coming from that side of the engine. The whistle is only there in idle mode when the oil temperature exceeds 87 degrees C, which is normal operating temperature. Any ideas on this?
So we're saying the PCV system is insufficient/faulty. Have you tested the updated OEM part for longevity, and have there been any failures with that part that have been noted? As the Audi TSB only stipulates 2017-2019 models within a specific range as being affected. So curious how problematic this actually is for those with the updated OEM part.
Long term testing is currently being conducted so there is no way to truly have a 100% accurate answer on whether or not the revised part will hold up over time. But as of now, it is a good step to ensure you have replaced the old part with the new variant and inspect regularly to avoid potential damage from a failed PCV. This should hold over most vehicles until our full PCV and catch can solution is released later this year.

It's crazy that this video came out the minute I experienced this issue I have had my oil cap blow off twice this weekend after having my pcv replaced under warranty by audi due to it leaking oil from the cap! What would you recommend I do until you release your product do I buy a racing line catchcan till you release your product or go back to audi again to replace pcv under warranty then buy your product? Not sure how long till you release etc

@@034motorsport thank you also mine is leaking oil out the top and the oil cap keeps coming lose when driven hard and comes up saying drive system fault so this video has me wondering if it’s just the pcv I need to replace? Or put in a whole new solid after market unit which you guys spoke about building yourselfs
Can you elaborate on the importance of retaining both inlet openings and consequences of caping off the high side pressure outlet like Racingline’s design?
Got it. I’m new to understanding how the PCV works. This video does a great job kickstarting the conversation. I do have a question.. What are the consequences of NOT evacuating pressurized air from crankcase?
@@ucisigma All of the seals and components within the crankcase are designed to operate under a light vacuum. That vacuum keeps various oil seals, piston ring seals, and other internal systems in place. If there is no vacuum in the crankcase, or even worse, positive pressure, those systems can be strained. Signficant positive crankcase pressure can result in oil consumption issues, backpressure behind the pistons that can lead to reduced performance, and oil seals like the front and rear main can actually blow out and leak. Keeping a slight vacuum within the crankcase is crucial to keeping the entire system running as it should.
The hose on the turbo inlet does require some strength, simply pull back straight. The other hoses you simply push the outer plastic ring and they should pop off.
@@034motorsportyes exactly I was at a shop awaiting my stage 1 tune only to find out I had this problem before we even flashed the car…went to Audi dealership and just got it fixed…wish I seen this video earlier I would have order the part from 034

John, we recommend using a scan tool to check for any error codes, but bringing it into a shop for inspection would be your best bet.
Hi John, Any updates on your problem? Thanks
Does the part number listed in the description fit all B9 3.0T?
Yes, 06M-129-041 will fit all B9/B9.5 3.0T.
I see an oily residue on the PCV hoses, is that a sign that it's failed?
Everything else is dry and residue free.
It would be best to simply pull the hose off and test as shown in the video. Some seepage may be normal and within spec.
dynamic+ lowering springs on f30 335i m performance with EDC is ok? Thanks.
Yes, our Lowering Springs are compatible with the factory EDC in your F30 335i.
Any word on when the mentioned 034 catch can will be released?
No ETA at this time, but I recommend following us on Instagram and Facebook to stay up to date with whenever we release a new product!
It is still in development and we hope to release it soon!
Is there a link for this on 034 website? I am not having luck finding it on your website.
We do not offer a solution yet, and we don’t offer the latest PCV breather hose on our site
@@034motorsport Thanks for the quick reply!
Have there been any known issues with the breather hose that lives UNDER the turbo?
Not that we've seen
I will definetly get one of these. Is there any chance to get it shipped to germany ?
Absolutely, we ship to Germany and dozens of International destinations every day.
I would get one for Italy when available, thanks @@034motorsport
Hi , can you explain me where is that check valve?
The check valve is within this breather hose, as demonstrated in the video.
@@034motorsport so it’s inside the breather hose
Did you consult or work together with Racingline to address the issue?
034Motorsport and Racingline engineer and produce products separately. We cannot speak regarding Racingline product, and will continue to focus on our own products and developments.
I have a question what is P04f0? On a 2018 Audi s4
That code is related to your EVAP system. We'd recommend bringing your car to a shop.
How come everytime I put in the part number it says it does not fit the 2018 S4?
The newer part number will fit 2018 S4s
@@034motorsport yeah I ordered the part number you listed in the description
When is the catch can coming
This is something we're still working on & testing!
@@034motorsport any eta
Any update on this product
We recently posted an update about this product here: ua-cam.com/video/MxBGqtLf--4/v-deo.htmlsi=wtCQR9URoZEULTko
Hurry and make the upgraded!! Waterpump and thermostat and also the upgraded pcv system !!! 🎉🎉🎉
Hola cambié la bomba de agua y termostato de ese motor pero se esta calentando me podrías ayudar para saber cómo se purga el sistema
You should bring your vehicle to a shop for a proper diagnosis.
How do you remove the hoses
You can remove the one from the turbo inlet by tugging on it firmly. The others you can remove by simply pinching the outer ring.
Thanks for this, following your guide I found my PCV hose also had a 2 way valve(!) I replaced the hose like for like and new breather hose is good, but disappointingly still getting oil around the filler cap :/
We've got something in the works for that ;)
Hi any update on this@@034motorsport
do we have an eta on this beauty?
No ETA at this time, but it has been in active development.
any update fellas? CBF buying more replacement AUDI parts for a system that is just going to fail again ;( or should i just buy Racingline's Oil Catch Can and be done with the PCV all together ^_^@@034motorsport
is it the same for the supercharged engines?
This only applies to B9/B9.5 3.0T turbocharged vehicles.
Is it safe to put a hood dump with 034 stage 2 tuning on a b9 s4?
This is not something we've tested.
@@034motorsport wanna use me as a guinea pig?
What oil do you recommend for b9 s5 ?
We have a video talking about this topic in detail here: ua-cam.com/video/5OQSp6AL824/v-deo.htmlsi=KJehCuTvd35hkVqH
5:37
@@034motorsport thank you. This makes sense. I’m persistent to ask when I don’t understand. Like always I appreciate the time and effort.
Thx
Anything on this yet guys?
The Catch Can + PCV is in production and will be coming out before the end of the year
I live in the Bay Area, are you guys able to do the replacement at your Fremont HQ via appointment?
Absolutely. Email service@ztfauto.com and our team would happily schedule you for service!
Woof woof❤
Part# for hose?
Part numbers are listed in the TSB in the video description!
When this going to drop? I need to invest lol!
The solution is being worked on as we speak, but we do not have an ETA yet.
Can you please show a video on how to take off the hose. I’m not trying to break the existing hose.
The hose on the turbo inlet does require some strength, simply pull back straight.
The other hoses you simply push the outer plastic ring and they should pop off.
My pcv passed the blow test but I have oil seepage around my cap and some oil in the pcv it’s self. Does that mean it’s failing still ?
It can potentially mean the PCV itself is failed.
There goes getting a stage 1 😢
Why do you say that?
This issue happens on stock vehicles as well as tuned vehicles. You should not feel any apprehension about tuning your car.
@@034motorsportyes exactly I was at a shop awaiting my stage 1 tune only to find out I had this problem before we even flashed the car…went to Audi dealership and just got it fixed…wish I seen this video earlier I would have order the part from 034
That should be a recall from stupid audi dealers
