You just taught a man who has never fillet a fish in all his 62 years but I am going to give it a go asap. You made it look so easy. Thank you.
It’s not as easy as it looks hahaha
Hope you did good
How was it?
@@archiesinfield9333 have you tried it? i am starting to think its not for me before trying🤣
@ICE 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Anyone else here because you're broke and plan on trying to catch fish from the local river to avoid paying the ridiculous cost of meat?
that’s my problem too and the big problem not that i’m broke no it’s the local river is without fish
Well, id need to pay for a license to do that...
If you live near the ocean get into spearfishing. It’s super fun and you get unlimited meat after the initial investment.
@@bryanlane7208 where do you live brother
I am going on a camping trip this weekend and can wait to try this out 😊
”let your knife do the work”
Gordon Ramsay: *very good, my child*
I ordered two of these based on the reviews. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxqmKabisEv81ul5v7OhvVxxOpt2CJruI- Received them on time and they look good. I really like the handle on these knives as they feel good in my hand. I'm giving them 4 stars on look and feel, but have not had the chance to put them to the test yet. I mostly fish for catfish and can hopefully try them out in the next few days. If they hold an edge throughout a limit of catfish, they'll be worth another star.Update...I used the 9" strong and the 9" fillet on a mess of catfish. I did put a sharpening on these before I started. I want a razor edge to fillet fish but they weren't quite that sharp. The people who gave these knives crappy reviews and said they were sending them back was because they weren't razor sharp. So what, do they not have a knife sharpener?? Good grief! I mean you have to sharpen any knife from time to time.I personally like them and am pleased with them. If you're too lazy to sharpen a knife then hire someone to clean your fish lol.I've never bought a knife in my life that would shave hair right out of the box. Don't be afraid to purchase the knives. They're pretty nice in my opinion.
this guy has 2 accents
Ya Boi It‘s Australian for sure
hahahaha
kind of feels like South African. probably wrong but my South African friends English sound like Australian Americans.
Kinda sounds Irish
Ruymand he’s not from SA, sounds half Irish half Aussie
Went fishing today for the first time so I need this video!! Can’t get no fresher then this
mackerel will never be the same again after watchng this video🥹
Wonderfully instructed and helpful! I really appreciate that you took the time to make this video. Thanks!
Awesome Chef Mike! We just caught fish while we are camping and you make the filleting SO SIMPLE! Time to get to work filleting our fresh catch!
How did it go?
@@remio1377 I was there it went horribly
@@pumpkineater6975i was there, they filleted 20 fish as good as a sushi master!!!!
@@sonofagun5305I was there, they filleted the fish to a satisfactory level. An average taste.
@@remio1377 I wasn't there I dont know
This video is not only a tutorial on how to fillet a fish, but also how to properly add background music to a video. It's not jarring and it doesn't overpower the speaker. Content creators, take note.

You make it look easy, though I'm sure it's more challenging than I expect it to be. :)
Never seen someone fillet a fish without gutting it or removing the head. Very interesting technique
I thought the same thing but I think the gut it at the market. Or maybe they don't idk I don't buy fish like that.
@Jamie Saunders Oh good thing they killed it then.
this is how you fillet fish, how have you been doing it?
You only gut it if you eating it whole
Thanks a lot, I'm actually just a kid but I managed to get a piece of a much larger salmon using a technique similar to this, awesome video!

So easily explained, going to fillet my fish right now! Thanks from South Africa.
Thank you. I've been cooking for many years but have NEVER filleted a fish. I'm excited to try it.
Thank you. Caught my first fish today and had no clue how to do this. Great short video.
How did it taste?
This last year i started cooking different dishes, and so far my girlfriend fell in love with what am cooking so much that she told me if i cook she will wash everything every day :P
I tried to filit a fish today and it came to me really easy. Some people are born with talents am wandering if i had a great talent at cooking and i never knew because i never tried

I heard that the Australian accent is slowly becoming more and more American due to Hollywood.
I recently tried a recipe for whole branzino and it tastes so good, but the bones are an issue. Now I know how to get rid of them thanks to you. Appreciate it!
Ear smear doesn't matter very good video good photography and very informative and I just happened to watch it when I came home with 4 Spanish mackerel from my boat perfect timing
This video is so simple and great thankyou so much!!!
"let the knife do the work" gordon ramsay says this all the time in his masterclass lmaoo
Loved this video. Could not for the life of me deal with your accent. As an Australian I heard every every single time your accent slipped from US to Aus. Freaked me out.
I love to give my kids dead fish heads! Fun for the whole family!
😂
Lmao
God ... Owwww
You are just a p*ssy
Serial Killer with passion for cooking released this statement: "I give the head to my kids, they put their fingers into his mouth, they give him a name...."
When I began eating meat and fish again since being a 5-year veggie, I promised myself to not be in ignorance as to the whole experience of eating meat; from farm to table.
This summer, a challenge for me is to catch, fillet, and prepare a fish in a full circle of respect and gratitude for the nourishment this life will give me. I'm time-framing it to my two weeks at the cottage this fri. Will report back, and now I have no excuse that I don't know how to fillet a fish.
Namasthe :)
melanie sakowski Super excited for you Melanie, let me know how it goes. :)
I will!
Oi Mike, I did it, with a fresh caught red snapper! it was neat, and tasted so good BBQ'd in butter, salt and pepper, simple and yum :) Food tastes so good when from start to end you play as big a role as you can in the process, nah? Namaste
Excellent tutorial! Easy to follow and very satisfying filleting your own fish. I have subscribed to your channel. Thank you.
19 Georgia girl. Moving to MO to do some fishing near my brother. My mother laid a fishing rod on my bed for my birthday because I love salmon and always enjoyed the idea of catching my own from start to finish. I was expecting it to be a bit more gore-intensive.
I plan on catching all sorts of fish while I’m there and taking them to my brother for the holidays. Wish me luck :) I think I’m looking forward to filleting them more than I am catching them now
Good luck girl 😇
I'm 19 too and I always catch fish with my mom. It's fun to fish with family
Sending love from India
You saved me!) I adore such a simple but effective approach. Will try it now
Love the video. And as a Canadian now living in New Zealand, his accent is buzzy... like both accents together
Thank you! Now to try it on a whole pacific rockfish soon.
Nice, thanks for this been putting this off for the last 40 years
Very nice knife work! I really like the v-cut to get rid of those annoying bones.
not only have i learnt how to fillet a fish, but i have also discovered a beautiful song (your intro). thank you very much chef!
Is that dwarf fortres music in the background lol
One tip for filleting the fish is, when you go over the backbone with the knife, move your knife downwards to get the meat on the other side
This minimizes meat wastage
I would like to suggest using a moist towel to wipe off the knife periodically as you go about processing a fish. It will help in keeping debris from the cuts.
thank you so much....first time trying and i did a decent job. You were right, once i sharpened the knife it did most of the work
is the fish ok?
Yes, hes alive and swimming in the ocean with his family.
UFOENGINE He dead.
No. No he's not.
Yes the fish want some spa and have a surgery
Yea. We miss him. But thank lord, he didnt feel any pain going through all this.
I really do like that knife. Would you mind sharing what model is that? Thanks a lot!
It appears to be a Wusthof utility knife.
closest thing I could find was a Zwilling Diplome Fillet Knife
It's a Zwilling J.A. Henckels...not the best but it is a good knife
@@hcnevils I'm currently looking at knives. I'm pretty close to getting a set of classic wusthof knife
Superb.I did fillet first time in my life.Enjoyed. Sure I will do it myself .It wasn't hard as I thought all the years 😂.It's easy.
Beautiful fish. I was just about to put basa on my shopping list, but Meckerel looks so delish.
make sure to clean your knife in every cut, that's what Gordon Ramsay taught me LOL
It doesn’t matter when you fillet a fish because there’s not much juice or anything. Actually, it doesn’t really matter unless you use the same knife for different foods. Then it matters.

This method worked best for me. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic I had no idea but now am 🔥🔥🔥
That was intensely pleasant to watch. I'm going to buy a fish!
I really enjoyed watching and definitely learnt a thing or 2
Thank you very simple instructions
Great job, thanks for the instructional video
Now I feel like going fishing. And yes, sharp knife makes kitchen work safer, easier and more fun, but your knife is really, really sharp.

I have a question. With the bones and head do you make a stock of just that or do you freeze and save up until you have enough? Do you use the whole head to make the stock?
I like the way of cutting, welcome to India I surely want to show some fish recipes....
Thank youu!! I really need this because my school need us students to video ourselves cutting a fish with different technique but choose one🤧
Lovely......way of explaining....u made it so easy..india

He could be South African, the accent sounds like American-Australian
Great Video, cant wait to try this!
One word "Art"
Nice classical guitar music!
many thanks my guy
OMG I love this chef!
thanks to you i did my first fillet on a store whole fish already gutted, now i just need to learn how to gun the fish! that part makes me nervous. 1. ill have to catch a live fish which i have done many times just catch release but this time will need to kill and keep. 2. never killed a fish before so guna feel bad but i want to learn the right way to do it. many theories claim fish know when they get cut but do not feel the pain like humans so that slightly helps if true.
That looks like a very tasty fillet.
bro, thanks. just thanks, no other words.
Thanks for the info I'm 14 and I caught 2 fish in the lake near my grandmas house and in gonna cut them up and feed them to the chickens
Lived what you did. What model n size the knife you used? Can you show how to remove the skin? Batter for frying? Tasty
You're not the Wolverine, are you sir? 🤣
But anyways thanks for this video! I mma go fillet the fish now!!!!
Thanks. Always had trouble cutting away the bones in the middle
what I like most is the music
Thanks Chef Mike
Cool! You made it look easy. Now, please also recommend some good sharp knives. Thanks.
Very good video. I learned.
I was wondering what you did with Scales this time? Maybe made some Scales head soup?
